Amazing experience for our family, wonderful food, great atmosphere, superb service! Definate place to go while in town, make reservations for brunch!
Excellent! One of best anniversary celebrations ever.
Always 5 stars! The duck was spectacular and there is no better strawberry shortcake anywhere. $.25 martinis are pretty unbeatable, too!
Decided to eat here after seeing a video on YouTube. Omg was it worth it! The food was amazing and the staff brought their "A" game. James and Jarryd we amazing at making sure we were taken care of. Definitely recommend!!
We took our daughter here for her 21st birthday. They made the event memorable. Extraordinary service and attention to detail. Fantastic food. Traditional New Orleans high end dining look and feel. I have been here many times over the course of 40 years and NEVER been disappointed in the food or the service. While it is very hard to say that any restaurant in New Orleans is my favorite, if I had to, this would be it.
If you go to New Orleans, this is a must. Great chefs have come from this place and it's easy to see why. Perfect service and terrific food. A beautiful restaurant to boot
One Of Our FAVORITE PLACES to Experience Old World Louisiana Service and Dining!!!!
great food. beautiful restaurant. highly recommend.
Amazing food, great service and knowledgeable staff. My wife and I went here for the first time and was greeted at the door with a friendly smile. It made her birthday one to remember. Thank you.
We went to the Jazz brunch to celebrate my birthday. The food and service were excellent! And the jazz band played for us and sang Happy Birthday! We even got a walk thru the kitchen! We will definately go back for a special occasion!
High end restaurant (including a dress code) with wonderful food and outstanding service. I love their Sunday Jazz Brunch. The service was so amazing that even my kids felt welcome. The food was so good that by the time it occurred to me to take a picture, there was nothing to take a picture of. On top of everything else, there is valet service, so you don't have to worry about parking. I cannot praise enough the extraordinary service.
Food and service were incredible. This is a must go for all tourists and locals. Highly recommend the beef and shrimp, and the 25 cent martinis were perfect during lunch!
Sunday brunch was excellent. Service was very disappointing. There are too many amazing restaurants to try in New Orleans to bother with this.
Disappointing. Service poor a around. Good good. Atmosphere decidedly worse than previously.
The wait staff, food and ambiance makes this the best place. Must try the turtle soup!
Top notch food and service. Excellent from start to finish. You don't just come here to eat. You come here for the experience.
World class! Dress nice and make a reservation. Order a flaming dessert or two!
Food was to die for. Friendly staff and very romantic atmosphere.
We don't deserve this perfection! Always GREAT everything...FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE! 10 stars!
One of the few restaurants where the experience is worth the expense. The food is excellent, but it's really the service that shines here. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and impossibly attentive to your table. Your leftover food gets wrapped up like an aluminum foil handbag to make it easier to carry, or otherwise like a swan or crab or snail to remind you how beautiful it was before you are half of it. You might even get fun surprises for making certain orders (e.g., the excellent cocktail "Sunset on the Patio #2").
If you're thinking about dining at Commander's Palace, stop thinking and just make your reservation.
I absolutely love this place! I did my internship here because of their reputation for food and being the best. Their chefs are incredibly professional and they take their time to help you get on track and raise your standards to being the best. The food is amazing too!
The crab cake and chicken on a stick were fabulous!
Service was excellent! Food was good but no wow moments or flavors for us. Still a nice traditional feel and atmosphere.
The food here was fantastic. In particular the turtle soup which I thought was great. The service was also impeccable. We went for the Saturday jazz brunch and they have a jazz band that goes around to each table playing songs just for you. You can't go to New Orleans and not go here.
Had an amazing birthday meal here and it lives up to it's reputation. The dessert was amazing as was our entire meal. There is a dress code which we appreciated. Highly recommend for any occasion and also to spend time after taking a walk in the beautiful neighborhood. *We were last here before the Covid-19 shutdowns
Every bite, Every sip, and staff...FANTASTIC. You can't go wrong, it's worth the splurge.
Great atmosphere in a historic location but the food exceeded expectations.
Our fish from the brunch menu was dried out with barely any crab meat. We don't mind paying for a nice meal, but $50.00 for something unsatisfactory is out of the question. Called and asked for the GM, and we were told he'd return our call. A week later no call. Don't know if we will be back.
The escargot was soo good! Absolutely amazing food but that dish was special.
Exceptional service. Very welcoming and comfortable. Beautiful building. The food is exquisite! Perfect flavors and presentation.
Couldn't ask for better. Sunday Brunch is fantastic. Service great, music fun and food the best.
There is no better place to have a celebration in New Orleans than Commander's Palace!
Excellence is the standard here and from arrival to the inevitable departure, the incredible memories you create will be with you forever.
Reservations are required and if you don't get one online, don't despair, pick up the phone and call. Even at the last minute, there may a party that cancels, creating an available table or two.
With our timing in New Orleans coinciding with Restaurant Week, we took the opportunity to throughly enjoy the prix fixe brunch.
Each brunch includes a starter, entree and dessert. There is a wide selection of all three. Let your server know if you are vegetarian or have food allergies as they will gladly work with you.
The service, the music, the presentation and the food quality were all superb!
A big disappointment in every way!!!
Would not recommend to anyone
Brought my parents here for a lunch. Food and service are excellent. Great place if you're looking for something old New Orleans and upscale. Prices are a little lower at lunch, and they have 25 cent martinis (3 max).
Commanders is a dining event. Beautiful and iconic restaurant. Impeccable service and excellent food.
Top three meals I ever ate in my life. Worth every penny. Definitely a Bucket list destination.
This place was amazing to my new bride and I. We eloped and came in for dinner after our ceremony. They gave us their most romantic table and catered to our every need. The owner escorted us thru the restaurant to the bar after dinner for an aperitif. Amazing food. Amazing experience. Thank you so much.
This is a New Orleans classic. Great food but ex pop rnsive. $39 three course lunch on Sunday is gre as t but does not include drinks or alcohol...or tip and tax. But turtle soup and gumbo terrific. Quail is fantastic...but most if the entrees are. Great desserts. You wont go hungry. A good cocktail menu st average prices. A really big but very popular restaurant for both locals and tourists. Reservations an absolute must!
6 A+++ service and Torys menu is delicious. A must eat while in New Orleans. Watch "Ella Brennan: Commanding The Table" on Netflix
The finest retaurant experience. Warm service, spectacular food. Don't skip dessert!
Loved the food and beautiful place. The dessert was not worth the hype for me though.
Wonderful food! Great place to celebrate a birthday dinner. The only downside was constantly being ignored by the beverage waitress. She would attend to the tables all around us, but hardly ever come to our table of 4. When we were able to get her attention, sometimes she forgot to bring our drinks. There were a lot of other celebrations going on that night, & the wine server did come over & apologize. We did get free coffees. I still felt like we didn't get the attention as the other tables.
I'm not a fan of these old establishment fine dining places that impose a dress code and have a stuffy formal atmosphere. But if that's what you are, the level of service should be world class. The service was formal and perfunctory. Too many years serving tourists whom you don't really care about. Food was good as should be expected for the price.
Great food, great service, self guided tour of facilities including kitchen was very interesting
While the service was great, the facility was clean (no odors) the freshly prepared food was lukewarm at best. The chicken & sausage gumbo had no sausage.
Great food, but know it's going to cost you. Dress code is pretty lax, but you will need a collar. Blue jeans are okay.
The food was delicious and presented very well. You pay for the service though. Hands down the best service I've ever had at any restaurant. Highly recommend this place to anyone with a little cash to spend.
This is a wonderful place to celebrate. The food and atmosphere are perfect. The staff really know how to make the experience special.
WOW never been to a place like this it was wild everyone should go i had soup with TURTLES IN IT and of course shrimp everything
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The service is definitely the best I've experienced and the food is creative and delicious. I really wanted to fall in the hype of this place, but they won me over. The best part of it all is that everything is reasonably priced! This restaurant is a must go to place when visiting New Orleans.
Amazing food and heat service. Everything I was promised.
Delicious food, amazing desserts! If there's one restaurant you go to in NOLA, it should be this one. Dress code still applies at lunch, collared shirts for men, jeans discouraged and closed toe shoes only.
We had an awesome time here. Our server, Samantha, found a great bottle of wine for us & the food was great.
My husband and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary here on the recommendation of the concierge at the Hilton River walk Hotel on June 22nd.
My soft shell crab was tough and over cooked. I could not eat it. We let the waiter know that my crab was inedible.
The waiter informed one of the general managers. She informed me that she had consulted the chef and he explained that some of crabs comes tough. She stated she was sending me over a CHEESECAKE. She asked what else would I like. I asked her for suggestions. She stated how about soup....mind you I'm still hungry. So, I chose the gumbo. The gumbo looked great but upon Tasting it...the gumbo was burnt. My husband tasted it agreed the roux was burnt. Again, we asked for the general manager. She again apologize but assumed that we were referring to the color of the roux.
After explaining to her that we are experts at making gumbo and know when the roux is scorched.
We ended our experience with me still hungry and still paying for the crab that I couldn't eat.
We were very disappointed in our experience at this historic restaurant. Hopefully, they will make things right for other patrons who have a legitimate complaint.
I will NOT recommend this restaurant!!!
Great special occasion restaurant. Highly recommended. Turtle soup is awesome as is the service.
Would have loved to try it. Came in from NY during our Mardi Gras trip made a reservation months out. Showed up wearing shorts they would not server me terrible disappointed. :(
The food was phenomenal, the service was nice with three servers. The seats were very uncomfortable, on top of the wait time which was two and a half hours to get through dinner. We did the chef's playground and the wait time between was ridiculous.
Every good thing you've heard about them is absolutely true. Service, food, ambience, are incredible. Can't recommend them highly enough. If you only have time for one meal in New Orleans, this is the place.
My favorite restaurant in New Orleans. From the moment you arrive till the time you leave... absolutely an experience. Never leave without having the Creole Praline Souffle for dessert. Make sure you get the whiskey topping. Perfection!
Jazzing at an 1880's landmark. Cajun/creole at a fine dining establishment. We came for the brunch... 3 courses. Menu is set up to select from an array of soup or salad, main seafood or meat dish and a dessert. Didn't seem too pricey at $36 - 48 per person. Favorite bites came from the Crispy Oyster Sardou Salad, The Blue Crab Frittata and Chocolate bar. Bloody Mary's couldn't be prepared tableside, as they didn't receive the ice block... so opted for a sparkling wine instead. The blueberry crisp is crust-less and gives the chocolate bar a run for it's money
Excellent service, food was outstanding and 3 man band hit the spot!
Authentic New Orleans Cuisine! Great Food, great Atmosphere, and Great Service!
It's hard to imagine this iconic establishment not have a 6 out of 5. Please note, this restaurant has been operating for more than half of US history. It was a delightful dining experience. It was perfect in every way. I will never forget the turtle soup.
What an amazing experience! Peter, Steven and Sebastian made sure every little thing was perfect, but not too stuffy. Be sure to save room for the bread pudding!!
This was most certainly the very best restaurant experience my wife and I have ever had. We had the Sunday jazz brunch in the garden room for our anniversary. The building and ambience are amazing, very authentic and grand. The service was 100% flawless, from beginning to end; you couldn't possibly want or need for anything more. The food was/is possibly the best there is to have from here to anywhere else. It is definitely gourmet fine dining but the portions were huge. I wasn't even able to finish the entire entree. There was live music the whole time and it was just a lovely, festive, refreshing environment. I can't wait to go back next year.
Always Excellent - Service is designed for a full experience, which takes longer than most. But worth it.
I liked the pomp and circumstance. Service was fantastic and food presentation was nice, too.
Top marks all round. My wife and I had a phenomenal time.
A tourist must do. Go for lunch when you can get the fixed menu and 25 cent martinis. I haven't had a bad experience and I bring all of my visitors for that classy New Orleans experience.
Very disappointing. Was so excited to eat at "Commander's Palace.". What a let down. My mother had they 1-1-1 and I had the soup du jour along with the Commander's salad. All the soups were so overly salted. My tomato shrimp bisque had one salad shrimp floating in it and the server slopped the soup into my bowl. My salad was small and had minimal flavor. My mother's friend had the heirloom salad which had two halves of a tomato and the crab and onions were just unremarkable. The only highlight was the catfish that my husband had and the .25 melon martini. Try Napoleon House which was worth every penny.
I'd give 10 stars if I could! The service here is top notch and the food and desserts are great! Everyone was very friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. Will definitely come here again the next time we find ourselves in New Orleans.
Lots of history in this one square block cemetery set in the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans . Also, the Showtime series Your Honor was filmed at this location.
This place was pretty darn fantastic. My wife had the pork chop, and I had the pecan crusted fish. We had a bread pudding souffle for dessert. All of these items were fantastic. The service was old school fancy. My pro tip is dress extra nice. A sport coat would have been a good idea, but I still had a great time.
