Nice classic, high end, fine dining.

Abundant service.

Eclectic menu.

Dress code is Business yester-year: jackets preferred, collared shirts, no open toeed shoes and jeans discouraged. I had to go buy a jacket while on vacation

I'm in love with the ambient! Service was friendly and polite, the food tasted amazing, you could tell it was very fresh. I personally tried the lamb and because of everyone's recommendation I tried the turtle soup as well, was a bit unsure about it, but boy did it taste amazing!

We had an excellent lunch here. The food was very good and the service was top notch. I recommend this place as a lunch or dinner stop. Lunch was especially attractive as they had $0.25 martinis (yes 25 cents) during the weekdays.

Perfect. There is no other word to describe it. The atmosphere, the live music, the food, the service, the location. I could never imagine visiting New Orleans without making a trip to Commander's Palace. I would go so far to say that I would make a special trip to Louisiana JUST to visit Commander's Palace.

You'll be greeted with Southern hospitality and whisked through the kitchen - yes, you walk right through the kitchen! - and past the dining rooms oozing with French charm. On the patio, you hear the soft gurgle of a fountain and smell the blooming flowers. A trio of sharply dressed musicians move from table to table, taking requests and serenading away.

I went for brunch, but can't imagine that lunch or dinner would disappoint. The brunch menu is price fix and constantly changing. I dined with three other guests, so I had the opportunity to try a majority of the menu. The highlights were: white peach bellini, turtle soup (a must), chicoy coffee lacquered quail and southern style pecan pie. Mm.

Made a reservation and was advised to wear specific attire. I adhered to what I was told. They forgot to mention that shorts, even dress shorts were not permitted. They did not allow us to dine and we watched as a woman in shorts showed up in jeans and a very low cut blouse and was seated.

The hostess was very curt. Would not return.

High priced and over rated. My blue crab was too well done, my wife's meal was dry. Friendly servers but it is so noisy you struggle to visit. It's off the bucket list and shouldn't have been on.

If you visit New Orleans, this is a restaurant that you must experience. It has some of the best food in town and elegantly prepared. It truly is an institution. It is pricey but worth it. Service typically is impeccable. Seafood to die for. Don't miss the turtle soup. (I know. Who would eat that?) It is fantastic. Desserts are killer, too.

Be careful with these martinis, they will drop you like a bad habit. The crown jewel of New Orleans, you must have a reservation made weeks if not a month in advance. Do not be late because they will give away your table, they will always have people willing to come and eat here.

*If they know you are a tourist and not local, it seems they will give you bad service because they know there is little chance of you returning.
*2 hour wait even with a reservation.
*We waited 2 hours in a crowded waiting room to be seated and then they kicked us out 45 minutes later because they said the kitchen was closing. No one had even finished our meal and the server presented us with a bill.
*They know that the place is on everyone's "bucket list" so they don't care anymore about giving quality service.
* There are much better places to go in New Orleans, like anyplace else, even McDonalds would be better because, at least it is cheaper and you don't have to wait 2 hours for service.

What a cool experience for brunch. Live jazz and amazing hospitality. Make sure to have reservations, as they are quite busy. Business casual dress is fine (jackets not required for men but suggested). It isn t a cheap meal but I loved all of it. Definitely take your time here- our meal took 3 hours.

Now I know why this place has lasted so long and is so highly rated. Perfect on all counts. From the fresh bread on the table and the massive wine list, to the Crawfish gnocchi, turtle soup, salad, and entrees. Perfectly prepared, courteously served and wonderfully presented. Finish off the evening with their very own invention, bananas Foster, and you have a celebratory meal you won't soon forget. All for $156.00 for two, without tip.

I really expected more. Maybe my expectations were too high, maybe it's because we were seated in the secondary building in a hall-like space. Service was fine but the food was just OK. I had crawfish gnocchi and didn't detect either in the dish. DO NOT get the "toast" shot: it was chemically tasting and awful and it STAINS! I suppose I was glad we went but if I had known what to expect I would have skipped it and gone to a place in the French Quarter - Galatoire's, Arnaud's or Antoine's - instead.

Excellent service and fantastic food the ambiances is amazing, a place fully loaded with history and great food culture. It's an experience cherished and as you sit at your table and look around realising that 10's of 1000's of people have been served and fed there over the decades & all have been greeted with similar warmth and served food made with love, you realise that you've experienced a piece of history. Great Happy History!
The valet are friendly and efficient, dress up for your date or brunch, Commander's Palace is worth it! The 3 piece jazz band are sweet and play beautifully, they mingle and move about the rooms with ease and I do not know how especially with the double bass. They don't play too loud you can still have a conversation and enjoy the music, they do take requests. The food is the real hero so savour it!

Service was one of a kind, but apparently I'm a meat and potatoes guy. A complicated menu, convoluted my brain, and my unfamiliarity with the menu, made it a guessing game, and I guessed wrong.

Southern dining at its finest. My wife and I attended the new year's jazz brunch. It was our 10 year anniversary, so it needed to be special. The brunch was incredible. From the hostess to the waitress, top notch all the way! We will be back!

Excellent dining experience! Since the time we walked in the restaurant, we could tell this is a very well organized place, from the staffs, every display to the every course. Highly recommend if you are in New Orleans!

Growing up in New Orleans, Commander's Palace was the gold standard of fine dining in the city. Somewhere my family and I only went for extremely special occasions and an absolutely fantastic meal.

Having had the opportunity to experience some of the finest cuisine in the country, I can say that Commander's Palace has become extremely underwhelming.

The staff is fantastic, well trained, courteous, and helpful with regards to food and drink suggestions. It is the food that disappointed me. Some of their classics, like their Veal Tchop was not on the menu and they only had one selection for steak. There was nothing unique or amazing jumping out at me from the pages of the menu.

Most disappointing were the desserts. They are trying to turn classic New Orleans traditions into haute cuisine and to me that is the antithesis of what expectations should be at Commander's Palace.

Brennan family, having been to nearly all your restaurants now I can safely say I no longer have the desire to dine at any of them again. Please restore your flagship restaurant to it's former glory.

Get dressed up and eat like a King!!!

Get dressed up and eat like a King!!!
Normally when you go on vacation, you don't want to get dressed up. This restaurant is so worth their dress code. Made reservations for 4 (our first time)May 12th 2016 and we were made to feel like royalty. From the appetizer's to the main course & dessert everything was perfect. Our server a very sweet & humorous lady made sure our drinks stayed full and shared what she felt were the best dishes to order. After the meal we got a peak into the workings of the kitchen (very cool). Will recommend this restaurant to family & friends. This is a must dining experience when visiting New Orleans!

The service was beyond exemplary. I've done my share of done dining, but I've never had them replace my water glass because it started to perspire. The drinks were quite tasty, and very reasonably priced. In fact, while the entrees are rather pricey (and worth every penny), everything else was reasonably priced. But the entrees... If there is duck on the menu, 95% of the time, I'm ordering it. This was done of the best prepared duck I've ever had. If they are still serving the bread pudding souffle, just go ahead and order it. Trust me & you're welcome.

If you are in New Orleans, please don t leave without having lunch or dinner at Commander s. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious as one would expect from the Brennan restaurant dynasty. We try to get in every time we are in town, and we ve never been disappointed.

Culinary perfection! The turtle soup was a religious experience, the gumbo... no other words, and the pecan crusted gulf fish was beyond delightful. The bread pudding and strawberry shortcake were DIVINE!! Service was impeccable and we even had a visit from one of the owners. I'm so glad we chose them to celebrate my birthday. No one else could have made it a better night!

Came here for a birthday dinner and they treated us well! The food was delicious. I loved everything we had. The cocktails weren t the best but they made it right. Service was excellent and Ellen was very kind in particular. This place is a must visit for special events!

I had a nice experience at Commander s Palace. I felt that the staff, from the host to the wait staff, was pleasant and professional. The dining room was nice and well kept. The food was great and I think fairly priced. The turtle soup was especially delicious. My only complaint is about the temperature of my meal. It was a little on the cold side, but at the same time I understand you cannot completely savor food when it is hot like I enjoy it. **They do take the dress code seriously, as my date and I saw a couple get denied before we went in.

Overall a fantastic experience!

The food and ambiance here was amazing! I had the beachcomber drink and it came with an adorable pair of sunglasses. The gumbo of the day was seafood and it was so good! I can't remember the name for the shrimp dish, but it was super flavourful and really good. My coworker had the duck and said it was amazing as well. Highly recommend a trip here!

Honastly it was only ok. I was expecting much better for a place so highly reviewed. Like nothing was bad, but there really wasn't much depth to any of the flavors. It seems like everything was under seasoned which is crazy considering this is the heart of flavor.

Went here for my birthday dinner with the wifey on a Tuesday. As soon as I stepped foot into Commanders Palace I immediately knew I was in for a treat.

with sweet potato Lyonnaise, bourbon fig habanero barbecue and
a roasted baby beet shaved green apple salad - $39.00), New Orleans Barbecued Gulf Shrimp (Seared Gulf shrimp crusted with rosemary, garlic and lemon zest over whipped brie grits with charred chilies & New Orleans barbecue butter - $39.00), Creole Bread Pudding Souffle (with whiskey cream sauce - $3), and Bourbon Peach Cobbler ($3). From start to finish everything was outstanding. If we had to knit pick the gumbo felt like it was over salted (but still edible). My favorites were the lamb and the bread pudding souffle. That whiskey cream sauce was heavenly.
