An standard from old New Orleans that has stood the test of time. Great as always, they outdid themselves with the revellion tasting menu finishing up with a full serving of all nine deserts!! They do have valet, but there is plenty of nearby on-street parking.

Jazz brunch for birthday was superb. Weekend before St Patrick's day so there were green and white balloons, hats and beads, no musicians because of covid. One of the owners came by to make sure we were having fun. Seafood gumbo, fried catfish, cochon eggs Benedict, cheesecake and bread pudding were all so delicious. Our sever, Robert, and his assistants made our first meal in New Orleans very special.

Best steak I've had in years. They are just fantastic!!

We ordered the steak and a fish dish. The steak was the best I've had in years. Fantastic staff and the $0.25 martinis are amazing value.

Service is great. Food is above average. would give it 5 stars but I don't like the dress code... don't tell me how to dress! What is this? Los Angeles? Jacques Imos has arguably better food and better atmosphere. I like the relaxed vibe of New Orleans. Commanders robs you of the Big Easy vibe with the dress code.

From the standpoint of a complete dining experience this was first-rate. Service was second to none. Overall the food was very good, but short of great. Would gladly visit again. Laissez le bon temps rouler!

Had a wonderful evening having dinner with family and friends. Everyone was welcoming from first stepping through the door and had 2 1/2 hours of unhurried dining. Service and food was beyond compare. Excellent dining experience all the way around. Check it out...you will not be disappointed.

Awesome dining experience! My husband and I went for our 16th anniversary and we were extremely satisfied! Food was outstanding and the staff was on point! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and wonderfully romantic atmosphere!!! We highly recommend this place and we well be back!

Wow! Just wow! I can t go on enough about this restaurant. Excellent service, setting, ambiance, etc. Oh! And, the food! Amazing! Also, our server, Kendall. Above and beyond. He was the epitome of what all waiters should be. Thanks Kendall for making our night extra special.

Was sadly not impressed and slightly disappointed by the food. Service was phenomenal though. There are definitely better places to eat in NOLA but still glad I went because I love the history of the Brennan family.

This is worth the pricey menu. If you are looking for a fancy sit down to splurge on, this is it! The staff is a treat and are so knowledgeable about food and wine pairing. While I didn't get wine for dinner, the majority of my table did. We tried the cheese sampling for a starter. I enjoyed trying all the different types.
For dinner, I had the pecan-crusted fish. It was something to write home about. The fish was flaky and the pecans were a nice crunch. The taste was amazing with the butter/ cream sauce.
If you are contemplating dessert, don't! Just commit to the bread pudding in the beginning of your dinner. It wasn't a large block, like most bread puddings. It was a light fluffy almost souffle dish. Other desserts from the table were the creme brulee, pecan pie and strawberry shortcake. The presentation was very nice and the taste was even better. I love eating with family to try a bit of everything.
As for the servers, they are attentive to your needs and prepared for all types of questions. When they serve the dishes everything comes out at once in what I see as a well rehearsed dance.
I would without a doubt recommend this place. I will definitely go here to eat again.

An exceptional experience that immerses you in the food and culture of southern creole cuisine. The wait staff is engaging, enthusiastic, and humble. You feel completely taken care of from the moment you enter until you are ready to be done. The wait staff was knowledgeable, gave tailored recommendations and was overall delightful. While it is expensive, it feels like you are given more than you pay, in terms of generous portions and outstanding quality. Classic creole dishes stood out to me (turtle soup, gumbo, bread pudding souffle) - very flavorful, and hearty, and very delicious. Afterward the meal we were taken on a tour of the palace - this is a must do. Overall a destination for food lovers.

What a wonderful experience: the most gracious service, excellent food (I had the shrimp and goat cheese grits. Oh my word!!!), strong martinis. A wonderful place for a long, dignified lunch.

I liked this place. I was expecting a tourist trap but was pleasantly surprised.
Service = 5*
Atmosphere = 5*
Cost = 5*
Food = 4 1/2*
One of the soups was salty. Meat on the creole tostada was bland.
I will visit again.

I had dinner at Commander's Palace for my anniversary (31 years). I will not give it high accolades. The area we were sat was extremely loud and hot. The food was okay. I have had better. I had dinner the night before at Emeril's and was much more pleased with the food, atmosphere, and exceptional service there.

Few restaurants live up to their hype. Commander's Palace does. The food is all fresh, farm to table....or Gulf to table...and cooked to perfection. I dined with a group of 7. Everyone of us was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail in the delicious meals that were served. I had the Blue Fin Tuna and it was exquisite!

From the moment we entered the front door until we reluctantly left after a leisurely, sumptuous dinner, the level of service was fantastic. I literally cannot offer one minute criticism.

Every member of our wait crew...and even other staff in and about the restaurant were very welcoming and warm and always focused on making sure our experience at Commander's Palace was spectacular.

From the elegant cocktails in the bar, to the great meal and very nice ambience in the dining room....through to our dessert and coffee, our experience was one that will linger...and certainly bring us back, when we are in New Orleans, again.

Amazing restaurant! If it s your first time in New Orleans, this place is a must go. Besides having delicious flavorful food, this restaurant also employs some of the most courteous and attentive staff in the whole city. They constantly try to make the dining experience the best and most positive it can be. Along with their great staff is the dress code and excellent decor, all of which makes the entire experience extremely enjoyable.

If this isn't the best experience I have had in New Orleans it is near the top. I haven't had snapper soup this good in years, the service and environment is exceptional and 25 cent martinis aren't bad either.

This Place! These folks do all the little things that make you feel like a champ! Not only did the staff call me by name, but the complimented my date on her dress and made her fill like a million bucks!

Service is a bit over the top, but not invasive. I'd give these folks 5 stars on the food alone! It was awesome! Had a wonderful dining experience, but be prepared to come off a few hundred for an all out experience.

It's number 1 for a reason. My wife's meal was perfect, I had to send mine back because it was lukewarm. The food was so good I didn't mind... much. The bread pudding souffle was one of the best things I've ever ate. A perfect dessert.

Food and service was inconsistent. Appetizers were confusing and flavors were clashing. Risottos were really underdone but someone's filet was wonderful. One person's lamb was under seasoned but another's was over salted. Head server seemed annoyed but team was extra helpful and extremely attentive. I saw people in jeans and tennis shoes although we understood a dress code was in effect. I was just confused.

Excellence all around! This was our first trip to New Orleans and we ate here for dinner on a Friday evening. The food was amazing. Everything we had was really good. I'm not sure if you could go wrong with anything on the menu. The customer service was beyond belief. I would try to do the considerate thing and step aside for the working staff, but they wouldn't have it. They stepped to the side and politely insisted that I continue along my way, regardless of what they were carrying. I would recommend this place as must on any itinerary while in New Orleans. You won't be disappointed.

Just as we sat down to dine, a waiter passing us happened to drop $30 cash on the floor. Of course we picked it up and while tempted to spend it on drinks we gave it back to him. I did not think much of it until later. Hold that thought.

The food was excellent. Started with some sparkling wine to set the mood. Got an oyster popover of sorts. Light and airy and oystery. Not too many oysters in there but was delicious.

Also had the turtle soup. Interesting to see what an Alligator Snapping Turtle tastes like.

For the main we got the broiled pecan redfish. Tender and delicious. Served it with a nice Chardonnay.

Overall food was great and would have given them 5 stars. But remember the $30 the waiter dropped? Well, we happened to leave a plastic bag with souvenirs at the table. We got home late before realizing and no one picked up the phone when we called about it. Called again the next day and at that time they said no one turned in anything. Well, how can that be? Waiters would have found it when cleaning up the table.

Commander Palace, you coulda have done right by us the way we did right by the waiter who dropped the cash. Too bad. Really sours the experience.

Excellence from start to finish! We will visit this restaurant on every trip to New Orleans. The service & the food was top notch! Nice variety on the menu. I'd highly recommend this restaurant

Fun, authentic New Orleans-y atmosphere. Right across the street from one of the famed above-ground cemeteries. Great for a date night because you can dress up. Not too crowded. Parking was easy.
Loved the food. That's why I gave it five stars.

Holy CRAP this place is amazing. From the moment you walk in you feel like a big shot. The service is efficient, incredibly polite and attentive. From the redfish (pictured) to the OUT OF THIS WORLD Souffle (also pictured) you will have an amazing meal. I felt very satisfied with the meal portions, although they are not large, just proper sized (and I am a heavy eater). Even just the fact that they will bring all the souffles out together and place them rhythmically on the table with as many servers as it takes? It's almost Disney-esque.

Historic restaurant with pricey but very delicious and award winning food. Highly recommended for special events.
The wait staff was attentive and provided great service. If anything, the members of Commander's Palace did too much; I'm not a fan of how often conversation was interrupted for the daily soup, menu specials, to have every person at the table get a piece of bread, etc.

Nonetheless, dinner was fantastic and I'll most likely be returning.

Simply an amazing culinary experience. If you are a foodie, Commander's Palace is a must-do! The service is second to none - Jared and his team were uber-accomodating, our glasses were never empty and we left incredibly full! We will return!

Very disappointed. It was our first time and had been looking forward to it . Saved it for the last night of our vacation. The service was clumsy at best ( they cleared our table and asked if we wanted dessert or coffee before we even had our entree). Our waiter (Mary) was abrupt and we felt rushed. . Needless to say we won't be back. And we won't recommend it to our friends. We were there on Tuesday night May 24, 2016 at 8pm

I recently visited Commander's Palace while on my trip to New Orleans. We started our meal with the yellowfin tuna tartare, it was paired with blackberrys, an unlikely combination but it was delicious. Then, as usual with all Brennan's restaurants I got the soups 1-1-1, which contains a tasting of the seafood gumbo, turtle soup, and the soup du jour which was a pozole. They were all great but if I had to list them from best to worst it would be 1-gumbo, 2-pozole, and 3-turtle soup. Next, my main course was the grilled veal tenderloin, it was incredible! It was easily the best veal I've ever had. Lastly, for dessert we had the southern style pecan pie a la mode and it to was delicious! The service was also great. But the environment was incredible, because the restaurant was built into an old victorian mansion and it still has a very grand feel to it. Overall I would rate Commander's Palace 5 stars
