For a free zoo, this place is absolutely amazing. Having just visited the San Diego zoo, our expectations were low. We were prepared to just enjoy a little stroll with a few animals but spent 2 hours amazed with the wallaby walk, otters, and petting zoo. I'll admit, the petting zoo stole my kiddos heart. However, I thought the butterfly pavilion was impressive, with butterflies everywhere you look. Outside the zoo was a plethora of playgrounds to please all age groups of my crew, even up to the teens. This was a fabulous surprise during our quick trip to Lafayette!

Small but quaint zoo. Several playgrounds and picnic shelters to enjoy lunch. Our kids especially enjoyed the Wallabies - many of whom had joeys in their pouches. Free admission and parking. $2 train rides.

It's a small zoo but for younger kids, it's perfect. Play in the small water play area including an elephant spouting water. The butterfly garden is cool as you can see the cocoons. At the front of the wallaby exhibit, play the kukuburra call on your phone and you'll here the kukuburra reply! We were told they are hoping to add penguins to the penguin exhibit next year but can't right now because they are coming from California and it's way to challenging to do so given covid-19. The exhibit looks cool and we can't wait. Train rides are also not available as they are redoing the whole area around the pond. We get frozen custard ice cream right behind the zoo at the end of every visit to the zoo. The kids always have a blast.

Columbia park has come a long way. They have been slowly redoing the walls and putting in rock beds in place of the eroded walls. They have redone most of their Memorial area. Feels so peaceful walking amongst the flowers and monuments.
I've always loved our park, just wish for a little more in the zoo.
I'll probably change my review to 5 stars once all the construction is complete.

A zoo in the loosest sense of the word. I suppose it's good for little kids since it's free to enter. The feeding lectures were well-given but it's really small and though the website boasts that it has hundreds of animals, I think they were counting all the butterflies as well. Definitely not that many unique animals.

This is a small zoo, but VERY clean and well kept. The employees/volunteers are knowledgeable and friendly.

You'll not see anything terribly exotic here....Wallabys, otters, Bald Eagle, etc, still, it's nicely landscaped and maintained. We enjoy visiting here.

You wont confuse it with Brookfield or the Indianapolis Zoo, but for a city the size of Lafayette to have a zoo like this is impressive. That its free is even more amazing. A fun place to spend an hour seeing a variety of animals. Highlights are the Wallaby Walk and petting the farm animals.

You have to go to this zoo if you can. There is one thing you will find at this zoo that I have never found anywhere else. You are actually able to walk inside the wallaby enclosure. The wallaby can walk right up to you and its absolutely amazing.

We absolutely love the zoo small enough for the little ones. Also my kids love my tunnels and domes in the prairie dog exhibit. All around great zoo. I would definitely recommend bringing and change of clothes for the little ones to change into as they have some for water areas they can play in.

I likeed this little Zoo. Good selection of animals to see. Hand feeding to goats and interact with butterflies in a screened area. Very nice and free of charge. There is a small water park within the zoo, don't know how much it cost.

Discovered this zoo and decided to take a look. I have to say it was incredible and being free was surprising, but buying things in the gift shop goes towards the zoo and they accept donations. well worth your time and donations

A great place for the kids and family to see some zoo animals and petting zoo. Very nice for being free admission. Also the butterfly garden is beautiful but will only be up 1 more week this year. Enjoy the fall weather and check it out!

This is a wonderful little zoo. It's great for little kids, but my older kids enjoyed it too. It doesn't have big animals, like Lions or bears, but it's still a great zoo to explore. And it has a huge Park area right across the street.

This place is a gem of the community. The zoo is small but excellent. The train is great fun for kids (and rivals the train ride at the Indianapolis Zoo) There is plenty to do and see - you can easily spend a whole day in the park with children keeping them entertained the whole time.

This place has so much to do! There are playgrounds, a train to ride, a petting zoo, and water fountains. There is also a water park and some amusement rides for small children. I have a 1 and 3 year old, and we spend hours here enjoying all it has to offer!

I shouldn't give any rating as I didn't get to see the place because I got there a few minutes after closing not knowing what time it closed but I did hear a bunch of animals hooting and hollering and that was kind of neat for a free zoo I'm sure it's worth all the freeness there is
