Columbian Park Zoo (City of Lafayette, IN) Review

Love to see the new animals and visit butterfly garden!

Very nice place to take your kids for an afternoon event

Small zoo, very kid friendly, super clean animal areas, as well as the whole zoo. Staff was informative.

My grandchildren come from an abused background and for it to be free with a grandmother that's on limited income and for the place to be such a wonderful environment including the great employees I would suggest that everybody show up there. I want to thank you guys for a wonderful time for me and my grandchildren

The staff are courteous and knowledgeable, the zoo is clean, the animals seem well cared for and best of all, it's free!

My kids enjoy the playground & zoo. During the summer, enjoy a day at the pool and a ride on the train. Coming from out of town? Arni's pizza, Gibson's shaved ice, & Igloo frozen custard are located across the street.

I love going to the Senior Center at Jenks Rest on Friday afternoons to listen to the great musicians. I wish more people would come enjoy it with me.

There is much to do here. Water fountains attract children while a gift store attracts adults. Viewable enclosed animals include eagles, prairie dogs, lemurs, exotic birds, local turkey vultures and an otter pool with underwater viewing window. A walk-through Australia-themed area with wallabies and emus. An interactive butterfly habitat and a miniature farm are great fun to involve everyone in viewing and petting pygmi goats, rabbits, chickens, a llama and a potbellied pig. There is a restroom and a drinking fountain.

The people that work there are all awesome it's so fun to spend a couple of hours there

Unfortunately it was closed for the season. Google maps hadn't updated yet. But it had the looks of being a very nice zoo to visit especially considering it is free. If we lived in area I'm sure we would be frequent vistors

A very clean place. Big enough to find a place for kids to play, or to be away from the noise and just relax and find peace.

I'm not big on going to parks anymore. I guess it's ok.

I thought everything at the park, zoo, and pool was excellent! My only suggestion would be to add a safety officer or two, perhaps a School Resource Officer to roam the grounds on a bike or Segway. Due to parents' not accompanying minors, things can get out of hand. That's not the city's fault, but it may help to make sure everyone continues to have a great time at what I consider a an exemplar of a city park. Wow! What thoughtful design and planning!

Very clean park!!! The zoo is great for families and also great on the budget as it s Free!!!! Pack a picnic and take the family for the afternoon!!! It s fun!!!

Great place to spend a day. Between the zoo, the train, and all the parks for kids to play there is plenty to keep the kids entertained. It can be crowded though. Get there early for easy parking. As we left after our picnic lunch there were lots of cars trolling for a parking space.

Beautiful zoo with cool animals. Hanging out in the family farm with the goats is the highlight of my week. The staff is extremely kind and willing to answer any questions. There is a lot to see and do here and I recommend coming to anyone who loves animals.

It's cute and clean with friendly staff They could have more than just goats in the petting area.

I have enjoyed going here since I was a child. I remember when the layout was different, but I like this layout better. I enjoy this zoo more than I do the Indianapolis zoo. Yes it's a small zoo, but the animals seem genuinely happy. The staff are also very helpful.

I loved it here! It's free and has a decent amount of animals.

You are able to get pretty close to most of the animals or at least are able to see them. There is a petting zoo where you get to hang out with so many goats. Just be careful though because they will most definitely chew on any and everything you have. I didn't mind it because I love goats but they kept nibbling on my shirt and bag.

My only complaint was that the turkey vulture seemed to have a small enclosure. I would have liked to have seen a bigger area for him.

Don't expect to see just a ton of animals. They are adding a penguin exhibit later. It's a good place to bring kids. There is a little splash area at the entrance for them to cool off when it's hot.

One of the best city parks I've been to. A day of cheap to free fun for the family.

This a great local zoo. You can tell that they care about the animals and do their best to act as ambassadors for the species that they care for.

With plans for future expansion this is a much watch for locals wanting to enjoy a taste of the wild.

Columbian Park Zoo is a wonderful place for all ages. A free walk through zoo with a variety of animals, separate playgrounds for tiny tots and younger children. Benches and bench swings for adults, and last but not least, a waterpark for the summer heat.

The memorial to veterans is awesome! Great family atmosphere!

Fun little zoo. The guide at the Wallaby exhibit was very helpful and knowledgeable. It was fun to see a Joey in the mama's pouch

It's small but has free admission. Exhibits are clean, some are interactive.

Great sized park multiple things to see around here. Super nice the zoo is free to walk and decent variety of animals to observe for Lafayette.

Wonderful zoo, but the fountains were off when we went which is a must for my kids. Will definitely go back, but be more prepared for the water to be off. Picture for how it usually is when we play

One of the best parks in town. Everything is clean, nothing is broken, the zoo is free, and the train is cheap. We love it!

What a wonderful, free zoo! Our family favorites were the goat pen, the butterfly garden and the wallaby area. You can really get next to the animals. Love the setup!

Really cool habitats for all of the animals. They are well taken care of. There are birds, goats, pigs, a llama, petting area and even a butterfly garden. Fun place to spend an hour or two.
