Awful, AWFUL experience. I have never had service this bad before. Took 15 minutes before our waiter even approached us after we were seated. Forgot to order an appetizer, forgot coffee with dessert - but still charged us for it. Wasn t busy at all on a Saturday night - now I know why. I thought it might have been just us - NO! The table next to us ordered a bottle of wine to go WITH their steak. They were halfway through their meal before they asked where their wine was - the server s response? Ooooh yeah...

Don t waste your money. There are FAR better places to go to.

I chose Colt and Grey because I saw Sweet Breads on the menu and wanted to have them again. I had them once before and was surprised how much I liked them. Unfortunately they weren t on the menu when I got there. My waiter Adam, who was awesome apologized and said he thought they would be back on the menu in December. A little disappointing but after a quick glance at what else they had and I got over it.

I started with the acorn squash soup and it was beautiful! Then I had the New York Strip cooked Pittsburgh style and they did it perfectly! I was told by friends that I had to try the Sticky Toffee pudding for dessert and I m glad I did it was fabulous.

I m sorry they didn t have the Sweet Breads I went there for, but am glad to have a reason to go back!

Love this place, especially for happy hour. We ve had hits and misses (mostly with the entrees), including a chewy, very expensive rib eye and a spring pea soup that just tasted like water. Yet, they nail every damn cocktail we order (like ahhhhh so good! ) and their small plates are to die for (bone marrow, shishito peppers, prawn salad... just get one of each. Okay, and two bone barrows). The bartenders are professional and don t mess around. Last time they gave me a little lesson on amaros and now I m in love. We like to sit at the bar or by the fireplace and it s definitely one of our go-to places for a fancy dinner out.

My wife and I ducked into C&G on our twentieth wedding anniversary for a pre-dinner cocktail and a bight to eat. The service stood out as exceptional, the drinks masterfully prepared, and the food (just an appetizer) was very tasty. Although the bar area held many patrons, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere as we parked in front of the fire, drank martinis, and talked. Our server authentically offered playful anecdotes regarding barware and drink conception making our time that much more entertaining.

Bravo! We will return many times.

We had dinner here tonight before seeing a show. If I could give 4.5 stars I would. I had the duck and my husband had the filet. The duck was good but the filet was amazing. It was so tender that you hardly needed a knife and it was perfectly cooked. I had Brussels Sprouts as my side and my husband had the rosemary crispy potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and very savory and crispy but not over cooked. The potatoes were crispy, but we couldn t detect the rosemary and they weren t nearly as good as the sprouts.

They have an option for the bartender to create a custom cocktail based on your preferences. I had two drinks made this way and they were both so good. I tried a different one the second time because I was feeling adventurous and it was just as good as the first.

The restaurant has a smart casual dress code but it clearly isn t enforced, which brings down the ambiance of the restaurant. We were dressed very nicely because we were seeing a show afterwards. While we were eating, a group came in wearing jeans, hoodies, and beanies.

Went in for appetizers and cocktails after work. The atmosphere is inviting and modern. Dwight and Howard at the bar were knowledgeable and good-natured. The menu was limited due to restaurant week, so will definitely go back again. Enjoyed the carmel corn and gougere.

Really, what can I not say. This restaurant has some of the most delicious food and such great service! I d like to say it s by far the best food I ve ever had. The establishment was so cozy and well kept. Will be back again without a doubt.

A local favorite - fine dining in denim I call it. A place you can go for exceptional service and food without pretense. Great for a date or a family meal. If I have once place to take people in Denver - we always stop in here.

Also, it has been a great spot on a cold fall day to grab a cocktail by the fire.

Nice menu. Clean place, modern. Friendly attentive staff. Went here for lunch and it was decent. Had the hot chicken sammich, kinda greasy but good. Great chill location all within walking distance of great stuff.

We chose Colt & Gray to host our holiday party this year, and wow, the staff there went above and beyond to make the party a truly memorable night. Marni, the event coordinator, was readily available throughout the planning process -- from showing the space and setting up the food and cocktail menu to responding promptly to any questions that arose concerning party details. Everything was fabulous the night of the party -- the service was top-notch, the food was beyond amazing, and the cocktails were great. Everyone in attendance agreed that Colt & Gray exceeded expectations!

We had a great first-time dining experience at Colt & Gray. From start to finish the service and food were impeccable. We had a larger group so they sat us in a separate room right next to the fireplace. Before we even sat down we had a number of Charcuterie boards on our table with some beautiful cheese and some type of prosciutto-style ham. Everything was super yummy! I ordered the salmon and it was hands down one of my favorite pieces of salmon EVER! It was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. I would have a hard time ordering anything else next time it was that good. Others at the table shared the prime rib which they said was amazing as well. There were a number of desserts ordered too. By far my favorite was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. We left stuffed and happy and ready to go back again.

We came in on a Friday night with no other intention than to get our passport stamped. However, we have found our favorite new bar and bartender at this spot. Despite my wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a mohawk, this ultra-fancy, white linen, white apron place was as comfortable and easy-feeling as the shade under an enormous oak tree. The bartender made us some sort of amazing cocktail, complete with tiki mug and handfuls of mint, and then taught us a little bit about some spirits we gazed at curiously. I would give this place an extra star if I could just for the bartender who made us instantly feel welcome, made the best beverages, and provided the best banter and wit.

One of my top three favorite restaurants in the country. The food is just so good and the atmosphere is perfect. I can't imagine anywhere I'd rather dine on a visit to the Mile High City. The chef whipped up something unique for my vegan sister after she asked a few questions about the menu. Always dreaming about this place.

Restaurant week: Great dishes, Great Service, Limited Menu, Parking not easy. Our trip to Denver coincided with Restaurant week, so we had very limited menu choices (Note: their website is not kept current with menu's). Daniel, our server, was fantastic with recommendations as well as being on top of everything...he was really a great server. Had the Hanger Steak, it was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. My wife had the eggplant Parmesan, she really liked how it was prepared and enjoyed it. Although the courses seemed "small" the portions were actually perfect. Parking was a bear... had called the restaurant in advance and they suggested I park on the street or in the lot across from the restaurant with their name on it. I couldn't find the latter, and after 10mins cruising up/down the street without being able to find metered parking on the street, had to go into a garage for paid parking.

Colt and Gray continues to be one of my favorite places. Consistently fantastic service, interesting cocktails, and mindblowing food. I still think about the risotto I had here over five years ago which prompted me to return annually at a minimum.

Truly a phenomenal experience start to finish every single time.

I was really looking forward to eating at this restaurant, but was extremely disappointed. The service was incredibly slow and the food was completely under seasoned (Hello, salt!). Not worth the expensive price tag.

We had seven happy diners last night. The lamb was delicious, the streak think, the rump tasty and the pork tenderloin. The vegetables complimented well. The atmosphere had a high end feel to it. Perfect place for a romantic night out.

i love salt but our first shot at this restaurant was so salty that i am sure no one in the kitchen took the time to taste what they were sending out. its too bad because there were alot of great flavors on the plate otherwise. my other big complaint is that the bread is absolutely lousy. how hard would it be to walk up the hill to the denver bread company, set up an account, and have great bread on the table? many of the dishes i would have liked to try were accompanied by bread and after the opening app. i knew not to order them. i will keep my fingers crossed that things improve - they are new - and will check back in in a few months.

This place is delicious and I absolutely love their food. I was only driving through here on my way to the airport but their cuban sandwich was the most delicious thing I've tasted in a long while. My only complaint is that they do not have ginger beer and therefore their moscow mule tasted basically vodka and sparkling water.

But for the service this place was really good and unique menu items, drinks, etc. I really liked the mixology of their old fashioned, they had some tequila drink my wife loved. The cheese apps were fantastic, main course of fish and rabbit(!) were both excellent. Good mix of unique ingredients together to create some tastebud sensations.

For whatever reason though they just could not get the service piece right, and I saw other patrons with similar frustration. Took probably 15 minutes to get us our first round of drinks, and that was even after I was ready to just leave, stood up, asked waiter if the order was in, he assured us yes... I took a leak, STILL no drinks. Once they got started, it was okay, though I ordered next rounds well in advance of the prior one going dry to be sure it airrived in time. Then when we left, took them another 15 minutes to get my tab. I gave them credit card, they came back with the bill but had not even run it. Before he escaped for another 15 minutes we grabbed him and demanded to run it... Not what you want to be doing in a hipster upscale neighborhood with money if you want to last long, guys.

Had the most amazing experience at Colt and Gray last Saturday nite.
Outstanding charcuterie including the house-made duck prosciutto. Bone marrow was an indulgent fatty treat atop their plentiful warm bread. The cioppino was very flavorful and reminiscent of a long past Bay area memory, a tomato and peppery broth with crab claws and corvina that tasted like it just arrived from the pier. My colleague's thick cut aged strip steak was cooked perfectly and was served with a silky bearnaise. The finale, a velvety fig and honey cotta lingered on my tongue. Special thanks to our server Dan! Can't wait to return for a steak, or perhaps the duck--there were so many delectable items on the menu I was sorry to have missed out on!

Really cool space, interesting menu and everything is uniquely prepared. Ask for Adrian and take his recommendations! He helped my wife and me choose our cocktails, small plates, etc. From drinks to dessert and took great care of us. We will be back and will be sure to sit in his section as he made it an unforgettable meal with his knowledge of the menu.

This place was incredible! Went out to eat with a few friends and this restaurant had the perfect atmosphere to relax and catch up. The food was to die for. We ate charcuterie - (do the duck prosciutto, you ll be happy!)), bone marrow, and my boyfriend and i split the ribeye. It was the best rib eye I ve ever had and I ve eaten at some great steakhouses in NYC. Lastly the service was incredible. Our waiter Daniel was so knowledgeable about the entire menu from wine to entree to dessert. We were happy to take his recommendations! I would definitely recommend this place! I will be back!

We had high expectations and maybe that was our fault. I might try it again but my date would probably skip it. Booked through opentable, (I love not troubling the hosting station with an extra call!), I put that it was a birthday celebration in the notes. Host hadn't seen the note (no big deal), so my date reminded him (she loves celebration!). Ordered drinks and a half dozen oysters and the sweetbreads (that's what attracted my date to the menu in the first place). The lavender lemonade is awesome! Sweetbreads were a little overcooked. Part of the joy (imnsho) of sweetbreads is the melt in your mouth texture combimed with the subtle flavors. Overcooked sweetbreads are like plain chicken, ordinary and unsatisfying. My date respectfully let the waiter know, so the kitchen would know. Good feedback, in a way I'm trying to work on (Id usually say nothing at the time, but how do you foster improvement with that?)

We split a dish of the lamb, with a coriander broth carrots and fennel. Most excellent! We were surprised a bit by the broth pourover, but it was an excellent undertone to the dish .

Unfortunately, the server was never told about the birthday, not a fault on her, but the host should have passed that on, especially after a second reminder. We had ice cream up the street instead.

Not a bad dinner, but down a star for the sweet breads and another for the service faux pas.

Our evening started off well enough, our initial waitress was full of enthusiasm and was very professional. It went downhill quickly from there. We never saw her again, instead it was a "team of waiters" who attended to us. They forgot our drinks, they forgot my fork, they were slow to attend to us.

Don't get the steak. My medium rare was medium well but I was too hungry to send it back. I asked for steak sauce. "We don't have steak sauce". What? What kind of restaurant doesn't have steak sauce? "We have duck sauce sir." Duck sauce, really? And then the waiter forgot to bring it anyway.

"Lively Bar Scene" was a sausage factory. 30 guys and 2 girls in the bar area. Over priced and over hyped. Skip it.

From the moment our server brought us our first round of drinks I knew it was going to be a great evening. He was everything you could ask for in a server. The food was awesome, the chef and his cooks were well humored and the entire staff showed us a wonderful evening. The two things we did most often while we were there was1) laugh a lot and 2) say, "Try this, it's delicious". Thanks for a great night out.

Food and selection were great! Atmosphere was modern and very well done. Service was a little slow and required multiple requests for some items but overall a great experience and would recommend!

Hands down one of my favorite spots in Denver for dinner and drinks. The recently expanded dining space is very cool. I love everything about this restaurant. Exquisitely prepared food, helpful waitstaff, elegant, but fun atmosphere, and killer drinks! The mixology here is world class. The menu is also seasonal and always changing. I'm a vegetarian and the chefs selection is usually amazing, but they will also let me eat any thing off the other selections. For example, chestnut pasta, but minus the duck. No problem. The menu selections will also keep my carnivorous, paleo friends happy. Next time you visit ask about the antlers over the fireplace. We have been trying to find some for our home so I asked where they got them. The head chef and owner killed and mounted the elk on his families farm in the mountains. I'm sue none of the animal went to waste. Totally legit and bad ass. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

We are very disappointed. We have gone here for years as "our place" but that will be ending after this last experience. First, the waiter was great, no complaints there.
However, we made a reservation and it was clear that really didn't matter since they first tried to seat us at a high top which I clearly selected "no high top" in the reservation and it was obvious they didn't know where to seat us. In the past our reservations always had a specific table already prepped and waiting specifically for us.
Second, they apparently have gotten a new chef and the food is not even close to the quality or value as it was before. They used to have this amazing chicken we couldn't get anywhere else. Now they give this pathetic sized chicken with about 4 mini potatoes and that is it. The quality/ taste was average, over all it wasn't even worth half the price.
Lastly, the music was too loud.
If anyone knows where the prior chef "Nick" went, please let me know.

We had a great friendly waiter, the restaurant had decent portions, so far one of the best dry aged steaks I've had that was cooked perfectly. Was not impressed with the taste of their cocktails but I only tried two, however they're strong and that's all the satisfaction I need. Very happy with the overall experience.

Everything tastes incredible, drinks were strong, and bartender and waitstaff were awesome. pricey but to be expected for the area and serve.

My wife and I came in for happy hour and stayed for a while because of the service and the quality of drinks. My wife had a special request for her drink and Kevin and Dwight made it happen--and it was fantastic. They were polite, accommodating, and skilled at their craft.

We aren't from the area but would definitely come back whenever we come back to Denver.

This place was a real find! Best bartender awards need to be directed to Kevin. His skill, affability, and creativity are truly remarkable. But his best asset is his knowledge of spirits - as well as the things that go with them. Of course his bar is also important - and it one of, NO, is THE BEST stocked bar I've visited. I may have seen a bar with more this, or more that, but not one with the scope and breadth of this one. Batavian Arrak, several bitter French and Italian liqueurs, home-infused vodkas, etc. It is constantly changing as well, as some of these bottles are not available all the time - but they bring them in to share with interested customers.

Then the food. Wow. Perfectly executed food, without the fuss, with all the flavor. It is subtle when that is called for, and bold where that makes the dish. The menu is a mixture of small plates, bar snacks (they avoid the word tapas here - avoiding any pretense - and it's not Spanish after all), and Cheeses and Charcuterie (a little pretense back - but really no other word works), and entrees. They also have some amazing sides which are very simple - basically vegetable based dishes (try the excellent anchovy dusted grilled broccoli! or ratatouille). The menus is contantly changing too as local or seasonal ingredients become available. I did not partake of the desserts, but watched a couple of friends out for a birthday meal and drink, have some of the best deserts I've seen in awhile. They have their own pastry chef after all. GO THERE. Maybe even make it your hang-out.

Oh, and it's a little hard to find - and I never saw a sign - I think it must be there but it is likely very subtle. It's at the base (downtown side) of the I25 walking bridge. Take Bus 28 or 44 to Plate and head NE to the next street - and around the corner to the base of the bridge. Or take the free mall ride to it's end at union station and head across the commons park - the footbridge, then NW 1/2 block to the place. = Highland neighborhood.

This place is phenomenal. They do their own meat curing downstairs and names on their drink menu (when we went) referenced Dumb and Dumber. High quality food and upscale atmosphere, but not afraid to make fun of themselves. I can't say enough about the food, so just go eat there and judge for yourself. From the menu, to the helpful, friendly, knowledgable staff, and of course a wonderful meal, my husband and I had an all around great experience.
