Saturday early evening this place was hoppin. The staff is on point. The food looks amazing and I will give you an update when I have dinner. All I have eaten here is the Sticky toffee pudding which was really good but not the reason for the five stars. The bar is absolutely awesome. Watching the two bartenders work together putting out loads of beautiful cocktails was super cool, but the real bliss comes in drinking said cocktails. Do yourself a favor and go to this place

My husband's and my go to date night spot! French American cuisine. It's SOOOO delicious here. Quite spendy so we only go once in a while, but always worth it.
Fresh, interesting menu. Excellent plating/presentation. Absolutely delicious. However, it was the hostess, Maria, who blew me away! Every restaurant in Denver should clone her.
I have been twice, both times we had the same server and both times the food was delicious and the service was terrible. Forgot to put in our order, forgot drinks, forgot to check in on us, forgot drink orders.
When we asked about a dish the waiter said "I don't know" in response to our questions and simply looked at us as though that was a suitable answer with no effort made to find out answers to our questions.
Great food, great atmosphere. I initially rated this place two stars a couple years ago due to stuffy servers. I must say though, I've been in a few times in the last 3 months and it's been FANTASTIC service and I couldn't be happier! The bartenders are amazing and have been super friendly. I'm certainly changing my tune on this place and suggest it to anyone.
We received great service but the food was truly lackluster and the flavors were uninspired/very poorly balanced. Even the bread for the table was comparable to what you might find in the bakery at the supermarket. For the price I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere.
Incredibly dependable when it comes to high quality food and service. The service hardly feels effortful at all - it's more like highly informed, friendly, efficient family members! We just went for our first lunchtime there and even with a somewhat pared down menu, they all sounded wonderful. We had Croque Monsieur and Madame - tender flavorful ham - and Corey the drink and food woman was perfect - there's an item on the menu called bartenders choice where you just kind of muse about what you like in a cocktail and she'll work one up. Mine was a beautiful strawberry daiquiri in a martini glass, no ice, slice of lime, and it was perfect. Then, as we enthused about the place with Corey, she asked if we had met their butcher, Tim... So out came super friendly Tom, who showed us his domain in the facility, near the basement nightclub Elle... We were allowed in to see the curing meats, and Tim is, truly, really a craftsman and. deeply committed to quality, sourcing, and simply to being an artist with meat. We have to get back in a few months to taste the duck prosciutto he had aging down there - he would soon baste it with honey and whiskey (we think that's what he said)... Our best happy place in Denver!!!
By far the worst service I'd had at any full service restaurant. Our server was not knowledgeable in regards to spirits and details of the menu. Definitely wasn't attentive we'd she her every 20 minutes. 40+ minutes in between courses. Had to get up multiple times to get the attention of the manager and request things for the table. The food was decent, hard to enjoy after everything that had happen. Management made not effort to apologize, acknowledge the wait or lack of service. Wrote the company via email but never received a response.
The food is great. The bartenders will work with you to make a cocktail you love, and they know their stuff. If beer is more your thing, they have a small but well chosen selection. I can't speak to the wine list personally, but my friends have always been satisfied in this regard. Prices are what you'd expect for quality in the area, and service is always excellent.
Wonderful quiet setting to savor and enjoy your meal. I had a cheeseburger there and yes I have had many cheeseburgers but this one even the meat was like poetry different textures an experience in itself everything was phenomenal everything utter perfection. They have lots of other wonderful dishes too this a place to remember.
I've run Google searches for Sticky Toffee Pudding with minimal results in the Denver area. I came across this place. Upscale, hipster, fine dining. When I dug a little deeper, and called to talk to a hostess there, I found out that the STP was actually featured on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". My wife & I had to try it out. It was a very generous portion for $8 and the pot of French Press Kona coffee was only $4. I was really impressed that while Colt & Gray has dinner plates that I'd have to finance, they were very smart about how they priced things that don't have to come with a contract. Pricing aside, the dessert and coffee were super tasty and we left with big smiles on our faces. We showed up in jeans on a slow night and didn't feel out of place, it was very comfortable. The bartender was very personable. All in all, we definitely agreed that we'd be back, especially to check out the bar downstairs that also offers the Sticky Toffee Pudding!
This place was amazing! The octopus appetizer was incredible. It was recommended by our waiter Daniel. Both the lamb and chicken ballentine was superb. Then the sticky toffee dessert was to die for. I will definitely be coming back with friends.
Pros: Comfy relaxed atmosphere. Good cocktails. Location is good. Portions look small but everything I had was very filling.
Cons: Overpriced. Limited menu, doesn't offer a whole lot of variety, guess I was expecting to see more entres. The sides menu was laughable. Creamed corn?? No thanks. There are 8 deserts to choose from and only 8 dinner entres to choose from, something about that seems a little odd. The steak was nowhere near worth the 40 dollars. Maybe 20 at best.
I've worked in a fair amount of restaurants, and the service was lousy for how upscale the place is. Our server Nicki was forgetful and seemed to be taking much better care of the other tables and would disappear for extended periods. She was nowhere to be found when we needed her attention and it took forever for drinks. The second round of drinks took over 15 minutes, they gave my dad the wrong cocktail and forgot my drink entirely after the main course was brought out.
I wouldn't normally complain about service but for how upscale and small the place is and how un-crowded it was, the service lacked attentiveness and promptness, What reviewer Brooke Mo said below is spot on. The atmosphere, cocktails and most of the food made up for everything but overall, there are many better, less expensive restaurants to choose from in Denver than this. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back there again.
Romantic and intimate little diddy tucked away in LoHi. The pork chops and Scottish salmon were amazing. The lamb tartar is a must and a HUGE portion. Very reasonably priced for the quality and service you receive too! Don t forget to get their famous toffee sticky pudding!
Enjoyed chilling at the bar. The bartender is super friendly. We grabbed few drinks along with some tasteful appetizers. Will def come again to try their full course menus.
Lamb was tender and delicious. Our table had lamb short ribs, lamb sausage, lamb shank and more. Restaurant was cozy and our server was very knowledgeable about the menus.
Had an amazing company outing at Colt & Gray! Top notch service and excellent food. Had some amazing dishes I haven't seen at any other restaurants. Their manager Ben Wolven was attentive and made sure we had a great experience. Make sure to check out the area down stairs. TWO THUMBS UP!!!
When our hotel unceremoniously cancelled our candlelight dinner reservation due to staff illness (yikes!), Colt & Gray were able to accommodate a Paleo diet (with several additional restrictions) with zero notice without batting an eye! They even had a vegan and gluten-free dessert! We were extremely impressed, and the food was incredible! My only complaint was that we were celebrating a special night and even had a last-minute online reservation, but we were oddly sat in the bar--despite there being plenty of room throughout the dining area. I wish I would have spoken up and asked for a different table, but we didn't want to make waves.
Not good at all. Need to step up the food prep for sure. Everything has a slight oil taste, including the $60 steak. I could do better almost anywhere.
I have not been to a better restaurant. Service from Faniel and others was excellent. Daniel told us a bit about the entries and appetizers we were interested in. We took his recommendations, and had the best meal ever!!
Had a reservation and waited for 30 mins....l not sure what the point is to set a reservation if you have to wait that long to spend 30 bucks on a plate.
A very warm and cozy environment. And by cozy I also mean small. This tiny gem, however, packs food that explodes with flavour. Great bar scene as well.
Absolutely one of the WORST dining experiences ever. $700 for a dinner at THIS place? Keep your money. Not only was the service slow and inattentive, but our server was apathetic and actually insolent. "I understand you want a cocktail, it's going to be quite a while because I am not able to get there..." After ordering a Whistle Pig Rye , I received a someone else's scotch. "oh... we must be out..." was the response. Our meal took over FOUR hours. While we had a party of six that was happy to be together, in no way were the empty plates that sat at our table for 30 to 40 minutes between each course acceptable. Had we seen anyone in the restaurant of any authority that night we could have addressed the deficiencies. Unfortunately the legacy of this restaurant is in the past and they are clearly relying on yesterday's reputation for additional revenues today. If my experience is any indication of your future meal, I should be seeing you elsewhere.
Honestly one of the best places to get dinner in Denver. The menu is large enough for everyone to get something that they enjoy. It has a very warm cozy feeling, almost like a trendy warm friends house that you always want go hang out at. The quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail is something you would expect in a larger city but hard to find in Denver. Lovely wind selection and the service is NYC dining level. We tried one of everything on the menu and not one dish disappointed.
The shishito peppers were unreal. I also was really impressed with the variety of unique options for the charcuterie boards. My duck entree was absolutely amazing and the sides were stellar. It was awesome that the restaurant had an in-house sommelier to help us choose a great wine that matched our tastes!
It doesn't get better than this food-wise. This experience lived up to all the hype and expectation. A truly superb evening from cocktails at the bar beforehand all the way through dessert. Bartenders did a Wonderful job pairing wines for us with our courses, and took our taste preferences into account. My quail was the best I've ever experienced. Desserts (sticky toffee cake as well as cheesecake in a pot) were spot on. There was only one downside to the evening: The waiter brought out the wrong small bites plate for us, he had misheard me. He corrected his error but I was truly annoyed to see that he charged us for both on the receipt. We had experienced such an amazing evening that it wasn't worth getting into a tiff over, but not a classy move on the waiters part. Still, it was overall an absolutely amazing night with memorable dishes served.
We came here for dinner on a Friday night and the place was quite busy. I didn't feel like they had an extensive wine list, but they make a great Old Fashioned. The server brought out some complimentary hummus macarons--they were delicious. Hope they put it on the menu. Sweet and savory at the same time. Our first appetizer was sugar snap peas with olive oil, salt and mint. They were outstanding. I could eat these over edamame any day. I felt that the menu is limited--I don't eat pork or fish, so I had the airline chicken breast. It was quite tasty and not dry. I really enjoyed it. Everyone had a great meal. We had no room for dessert. This place is pricey, so just be aware. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
I have been here twice now its both times its been great, i love the spaces and the last time the service was excellent. We did the restaurant week menu and it was great, they also had a deal with a bottle of wine which was a great pairing with the meal. Had the following, and the beef cheeks were excellent.
Smoked Salmon Salad Baby Golden Beets, Tangerines, Black Garlic Mustard, Pickled Beet Stems, Champagne Vinaigrette
Food was ok, drinks were good but on the high end for the results (William and Graham is much better) Charged gratuity for a two person table without saying anywhere after bill came back, guess they expected us not to tip? Even the part of the bill that says auto gratuity said 0$, seems shady. Only would expect that for a large group, never will come back.
Wonderful. Pleasant restaurant week adventure on a snowy night was perfect. Some entertaining starters. The smoked salmon salad was one of the best things I've ever tasted. "Beef cheeks" was melt in your mouth amazing. Wrapped up with cinnamon ice cream and crumble cake. Delightful. The weather probably played a role in minimizing the millennial horde clogging up every liquor serving establishment in the city, so the atmosphere felt sophisticated and enjoyable and not nearly as loud as other places.
Just okay. I was expecting better for the price. Server did not know the wine list very well. Service overall was lacking. Food was good. Seating is a bit crowded.
