If possible I would give 3.5 stars. There's nothing really wrong with Coast, but here are a few things to keep in mind if you're going to bank with them...
1) Their credit card system is not done through the credit union (as opposed to Vancity) and I'm not a big fan of Desjardins. They're really pushy about buying insurance, and I find their website almost impossible to use.
2) CCSCU charges you on top of any ATMs for withdrawl. Again, Vancity doesn't have this annoying feature. Every time you use any ATM that inst coast (or an affiliate credit union), you are charged $2.50 by Coast on top of the ATM fee!! So you're looking at $6.00 fees for taking out a $20, which is pretty ridiculous.
3) The lineups are out the door at the Bay Centre branch.
Other than that it's fine. The free chequing account is great, no minimum amount needed to keep it. Everyone I've dealt with personally has been fantastic, once you're sitting down with someone the customer service is great- it's just getting in can be a pain.
The second worst bank after CIBC. Can t do any if you are not a member. Useless bank. Does not recommend.
Was transferring money to someone who held an account at this establishment. When I simply wanted to confirm the account details of the person I was sending the money to (making sure the account number and name was correct). The employee at this establishment cited "privacy concerns" for not confirming information that I just gave him.
Bad customer service and not the brightest folks working over there.
I have been banking at Coast Capital for over ten years (my business and personal accounts). Slightly understaffed during peak times, but excellent service and support when you need to deal with managers or investment staff. Banks are so much more than tellers these days, the web site is easy to use and functional, and there is alway a person to talk with on the phone or with a booked appointment. They have been a great leader in community support too.
No communications from this branch then out of the blue an email with a deal if you open a automatic deduction savings account.
So I email back with date I'm available, whole day was clear. No reply.
No Reply next day.
Half way thru the day I stated I was available I get an email stating no one's available. But she says she tried to call me a couple of minutes before the the email was sent to say there was an opening.
My phone sitting right beside me never rang.
Now they want to know when I'm available to see ' if ' they can do something for me.
Far from good enough.
UPDATE: The email exchange ended after she sent a message stating the phone number they called and I replied back that it was the correct phone number.
Now they say it has gone on to Member services team and they haven't done jack about it 2 weeks later.
I would not advise anyone to use this credit service.
Jack and the whole team in the insurance department were very helpful. When the ICBC system was down and I needed temporary insurance, they stayed after hours and made sure everything was in order for me. Thanks!
Online service appaling. Aplied for line of credit to fianance needed medical device. Waited 2 weeks for response. Cut off twice, on hold an hour. Denied loan
There s a teller there I think her name is Sara, such an angel! Made me laugh talking about our shoulders while helping me with a difficult convo! Sara, you have beautiful shoulders! 10/10 would recommend.
You Gotta have the worst location for outdoor ATM.. Ater Dark you take a big chance if you need Money, I have been on more than 1 occasion ask without even able to see the individual until last second for spare change.Now I'm Talking about your Bay Center at Fort st and Douglas. Other than that total Blind spot ATM I have no other issues with service or Employees. Thank You..
I have dealt with many financial institutions in multiple provinces. I have been a loyal and enthusiastic member for over 35 years. Member service is their priority not corporate profit for a bank. They always go the extra mile and offer helpful knowledgeable help.

Staff are helpful and friendly but the branch is understaffed. If you are in a hurry during peak hours, it may make sense to use the James Bay branch. (No business line)
