Do NOT recommend renting from this company. Upon entering apartment, it was filthy and trash from previous tenant was still there. Clearly had not been cleaned, which in these times, is extremely upsetting. Ended up having cleaning people come while we were already moved in. Not to mention, communication is lackluster at best - one will tell me one thing while another will say something else. Horrible experience.
thieves in every sense of the word. i'd rather live in a cardboard box than deal with these scumbags ever again
Terrible communication, have had to email and call multiple times to have simple questions answered, some have gone unanswered and we've given up ever getting them. Only redeeming factor are the maintenance guys, the two I've felt with are great, professional, and do a good job-even following up when they happen to be in the building to be Ste our issues were fixed.
When you call with a question or issue you get a receptionist at a third party call center that just takes your name, number, and address to pass along to someone who can help you-you get a response some times. Maintenance issues reported directly to maintenance with photos went weeks without being acknowledged.
The building I am in is on the market to be sold so, tons of last second showings, some of which they never show up for. Been given attitude over the phone about showings and times. Even though I don't believe this company actively tried to be shady or dodge calls, I've been holding my tongue until we had a new apartment secured.
I honestly just think it's just bad at doing its job, as a rental customer, once you're in a lease there's not much you can do about bad customer service, this review is what they get. If you have any another option, take it.
If you are looking to rent the perfect apartment to call home I highly recommend city reality Group.
I decided to rent with a teammate of mine since our College housing bill grew even more since last year. This was my first time ever renting and I am glad I decided to rent from this company. I have not had any issues since moving in and their rentals team handled the process very quickly and professionally.
At first, the property seemed great and well-maintained. After living here for a little under a year its been nothing but issues, attitude and frustration in communication with everyone at CRM. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking to rent in the Boston area.
Bob was wonderful! He showed up courteously early on a week day so that my roommate and I could get to work on time, and went above and beyond to address all our maintenance concerns. He was extremely friendly and thorough, and we look forward to working with him again.
Hands down one of my favorite landlords to work with in Boston! They are responsive, thorough, and great at what they do. They work to give back with multiple charities and are fair to tenants, agents, property management, pretty much everyone. I love Boston and it's great seeing them work to make the apartments and properties in the city better.
Bob was very friendly and really showed concerned for all of our needs. Thanks Bob for your help.
The worst management I've ever rented with. Informed management in October of 2020 the heat in our apartment didn't turn on. It is now January, 19 2021 and we still do not have any heat. CRM Management responds to my emails saying they'll send a technician to fix the heat. Each time I have been given a timeframe for the technician to come no one has shown up. The technician arrives days later without any notice from CRM. The technician looks around the apartment & then goes out to the hot water heater and "fixes" the problem. However, we have never once had our heat restored in almost four months. We also currently do not have hot water, which happened three weeks ago too.
I highly recommend staying away from CRM properties in Boston.
We rented one of CRMs buildings in last couple of years. They are really prompt with maintenance requests and their staff are very professional and kind. They are far better compared to other landlords in Boston. Would recommend renting from them.
Avoid at all costs, cheaply built apartments with countless issues. Laundry room does not vent to the outside and fills with moisture, doesnt dry clothes unless you leave door open and turn on bathroom vent in the next room. Central AC has broken multiple times and every time they come to "fix" it something else breaks. Currently the AC is on and its blowing hot air (set to 70 degrees, current temp is 88 degrees). Construction crew in the unit downstairs drilled holes into our unit, let themselves into our unit to use the bathroom multiple times. Stay away. Do not rent from this property group.
Current resident, been living in the apartment for ~2 weeks now and have had nothing but bad experiences. It all started with the realtor spinning a bunch of lies, claiming maintenance would be able to respond to issues within 30 mins and that she was "unsure if rent may increase". Since we rented in the off period we could only obtain a 6 month lease, with an option to renew in September. In the first week alone we have had an electrician come out 3 times for 4 blown breakers; 2 technicians come out for a high pitched screeching sound coming from the washing machine (which still isn't fixed); and a general contractor come out for a water leak in an exterior room. To top it all off, we received a letter from CRM stating that we have 2 weeks to decide if we want to extend the lease or else we need to vacate by September. If we do extend, rent will increase $350.00 (10% of what were currently paying for this terribly maintained and managed property). Its a 3 story building, and they can't even rent out the top or bottom floors yet! We are the only tenants so far. When we tried to discuss this with several people from CRM, they claimed what we signed was an "introductory rate" which was never mentioned prior to or at the signing of the lease. They are also unwilling to even negotiate or give us an extension to make any other decisions. Disgusting practices by a shady company. No wonder theres such bad reviews, and the 5 star ones I wouldn't trust too much after dealing with these people. BEWARE OF CRG / CRM.
Renting and working with Ritu was a great experience. All paperwork, processes, and communications were handled with zero problems.
Current tenant - we had some concerns when signing the lease and moving in, but once everything was addressed, it's been smooth since then. All the maintenance guys are really nice, timely, and polite. Great experience with maintenance.
I love the location and the finish of my home. My space really looks even better than the pictures do. I was the second person to move into this unit and the condition was still in pristine condition. I now feel confident and proud when I invite my family over from out of state and even having small gatherings after a long work week. I would recommend anyone working in Boston to check out City Realty s listings for availabilities!
I lived in one of their properties for two years. My roommate and myself got $900 worth of glasses and watches stolen from the contractors they hire to fix things. Radiators in our apartment never worked (there are 4 downstairs and 3 upstairs) and we put in many requests but only 3 actually worked. Their maintenance came four times to fix our radiators and none of them were successful.
Just wanted to give new renters an idea of what you are getting into because there are good property management companies or private landlords but I encourage you to not sign anything with this company. Also they didn t accept electronic payments which is standard in Boston......
My absolute favorite management company to work with. They are super easy to work with and they always do their best to make deals work.
Kristi is the most responsive person that I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She always makes sure that apartments are always pristine upon move in. She makes the move-in process stress free unlike most other property managers that I work with.
A+ all around. Can't wait to work with them again!
The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and my realtor worked to help find the Perfect Place in my range as soon as it hit the market.
Super speedy, efficient, friendly and overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone searching for an apartment in the greater Boston area.
City Realty Group is the best! I couldn't thank them more for helping us finding our 1st home. City Realty Group has strong connection and reputation in Brookline, and our home was found through their personal connection. I would definitely recommend City Realty Group to friends.
I had a great experience. The unit was newly renovated and clean. Everyone was extremely helpful. Would highly recommend.
SLUM LORDS
These people have no idea how to operate a business. Every time it rains water leaks into my room. I contacted them about his issue and half a year later water still sleeps into my carpet just sitting here growing into mold. The various problems we ve had and the various problems that took multiple issues and a ridiculous amount of threats to withold rent are absolutely infuriating. If you want to move to Boston and find a place you love never look here. All these people care about are money and couldn t care less about you as a client.
As an agent I have never ran into any issues with my clients and CRG. CRG is a pet friendly community, which is a plus. My rental transactions with the office has always been very smooth. They have a team that focus solely in leasing. Rachel and Kristi are always very helpful. They do have very nice units close to public transportation, another plus for tenants.
I've lived in Boston for the last 10 years. Had an absolutely terrible experience with this company when my friends and I tried to lease an apartment back in the summer. It's taken awhile to write this review but I left like it was deserved. BEWARE OF THEIR LEASING CONTRACT. They have a million amendments to the Boston Standard Leasing Agreement. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. These amendments shift liability to the tenant like requiring that the tenant shovel the sidewalk (Boston landlords are responsible for snow removal) or charging tenants for maintenance visits. They also limit your rights like requiring that you get permission if you're having more than 10 people over at one time. In response to their contract, we provided a very reasonable addendum to strike the portions of the lease that we didn't feel were right/fair and we were denied. We decided not to live at that location because we were worried about what other games they would try to play. If you have to use a realty group, YOU CAN DEFINITELY FIND SOMEONE BETTER THAN THESE CLOWNS.
I wish it was an option to put a negative star review of this group, but one will have to do. I've never experienced a property management group that is 1) so rude 2) so not understanding and 3) so petty as to blame reasons why they're not selling their apartment on the smallest thing that's out of place. My roommates and I are clean and respectful, yet we've been having to fight off several "claims" of lease violations over the past few months due to their inability to sell. If you are looking for an apartment in the Boston area, DO NOT GO THROUGH CRM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT.
I just move to a place in west Roxbury Angie was my agent. I am a section 8 holder. I felt no one wanted to help me because I have section 8. Angie was the only agent that responded to my calls and messages. She was very proactive and she move fast. I was in my new home within 2 weeks. Thank you Angie and City Realty, for helping me have a clean and safe place for me and my children.
I've lived in a CRM property for the last 3 years. The biggest drawback with them is they ask top dollar for all their properties and they're sort of difficult to initially get set up with (they ask for a lot of papers and income verification, as well as cosigner's). However, they're always very quick to solve any maintenance issues that have ever arisen and they are friendly and respond through email quickly. Hence why I've stayed with them for 3 years.
City Realty Group acquired management of a building that I live in. I was nervous about the transition but they've surpassed all expectations. Diamela Kodra introduced herself on-site to all residents as our new property manager - it was great to know who my new contact was and put a face to the name. She's been super helpful, professional and friendly since working here. The company is always available when I need them. It's refreshing to have a management company that is respectful and responsive!
City Realty makes living in Brookline such an enjoyable experience and the bike racks offered are key to my commute. My building is always kept in great condition and cleaned daily. They made the move-in process as smooth as possible and costly efficient for me. All of their tenants are responsible/pay their rent on time and is a great building to live in. They truly prove to value our safety and time by the way they responsibly manage the maintenance of the building, and rarely run into any big issues since everything is always taken care of on a day-to-day basis. I hope to renew my lease this September and stay with them again.
I was referred to by a co-worker to rent with City Realty. My co -worker has rented with City Realty for the past 3 years so I decided to give renting in Boston a try. I submitted an application, interviewed, and have been living here for the past year. They even allowed me to have my dog and was able to get off-street parking as part of my lease. I couldn t be any happier!
I was coordinating with Natalia from the office front desk and I was due on rent, at the last hour of day, when the office doors were locked, I contacted her back and she could arrange for someone to open the door for us in a matter of few minutes which valued our time waiting outside and our commute all the way to Brookline. I would like to thank her for quick assistance here.

Property management, rentals, real estate agents, & construction all in house. It is a very professional organization.
CRM has come to work on my dishwasher a few times now but Luis M. was the man to fix all of the problems. He was extremely professional, efficient, and seems to have fixed all of the problems that has plagued us with our dishwasher.
Quality property managers. I'm very happy to work with them. Their knowledge of Boston properties and condos is superb. Cristian was excellent to work with on my condo - he managed my building with ease and was always professional.
There was some confusion and miscommunication with coordinating maintenance of the property we're renting, but thanks to Luis for doing a great job and going above and beyond to install a new door for me.
CRG is one of the best companies in Boston! I would recommend them in a heartbeat!
Saw a City Realty Mercedes SUV on the highway endangering multiple lives merging in and out of traffic only to pass 2 cars. No turn signals, reckless driver, not a good look guys.
DO NOT EVER RENT A PARKING SPOT FROM THIS COMPANY. And based on my experience with parking I certainly wouldn't trust them with a home or apartment. I've been renting a spot under their apartment building since April. I was explicitly told I could park in any of the parking spots (except one, which was reserved for an EV that needed outlet access). I was also never given a sticker or anything else, which I'm assuming was because there were only a couple cars that parked there. Late last week (12/11/20), I was told they want to start getting stickers on all the cars. No argument here and they tell me it's in the mail. Fast forward to this Tuesday, 12/15/20. I walk to get my car and it's just completely gone. Nowhere to be found. The sticker still hadn't arrived (luckily it came the day after though!!!) and my car was towed for "trespassing" and now requires a $200+ cash payment + $25 Uber ride to get it back. Literally a $250 penalty for... doing exactly what I'd been asked to do while paying City Realty Group $150 every month. Now I've called the office each of the last two days. No one has answered the phone and I've left two messages that have gone unreturned. I've also emailed the woman who reached out about the sticker and have heard nothing from her. This is an absolute RACKET and shows that there is ZERO accountability or integrity.
I ve been looking for an apartment for almost a couple months until I finally stumbled upon an apartment which was development/managed by City Realty. When I got to the apartment, I had a few questions about the appliances working properly, etc. Signing my lease and moving in was not as stressful as I d thought it would be.. They were very helpful in my move at such a random time of the year to be moving in Boston. City Realty has been extremely accommodating and well-represent the boston market.
City Realty has been one of the most helpful property management companies I have worked with thus far in Boston, they hit all the marks on my check list in Roxbury/Brighton area, while still staying well within my budget. The process was speedy, efficient, friendly and overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone searching for an apartment in the greater Boston area. Very knowledgeable about the area I was moving to and had great recommendations for food. My realtor worked with me to find an amazing place that would be able to accommodate pets and alerted me to good finds in my range as soon as they went on the market.
I had such a positive experience with City Realty, they made the entire process a breeze and my cat and I couldn't be happier in our new home!
Just rented my first apartment for school out in Boston with my friend, City Realty provided honest and helpful feedback. Highly recommend City Realty if you want to work with a company that actually cares!!
Terrible company. Gave me wrong keys upon move in and was forced to climb through kitchen window. Found the correct keys from last tenants on counter but only one was correct the other was no where to be found. They clearly had not cleaned as it was filthy. Ended up having cleaning people come while we were already moved in. The apartment was empty for months so they had ample time to have someone come and clean. If they had checked the place they would have found the keys. Locks were not fixed for 2 weeks and we had to tape over the face plate of doors. Constantly called the company and texted the realtor and she told me it wasn t her problem. She signed the lease however. Called and emailed and nothing was done until I threatened legal action. Once they finally fixed the door they left keys on the outside of door. Would give zero stars if I could.
Was thankful to find a wonderful apartment via City Group - staff was highly accommodating, exceeded my expectations, and exemplified highly professional etiquette. The focus was on my needs, the client. Certainly recommend!
I have been living in this City Realty unit for 1 year and 2 months. I am glad to say that they kept the same great management service even after I renewed for a second year. My property manager Cristian responds to emails quickly and keeps me updated on when they will be sending someone to fix any issues. Thank you for making me feel at home.
I will NEVER be renting an apartment from CRM Property Management again. They have NOT responded to dozens of emails, phone calls, and requests for maintenance. The fence in my backyard is crumbling with rusty nails all over the place and wide holes in some sections. My dog has escaped from the property 4 times now. We purchased chicken wire fencing and installed it ourselves because after numerous requests to fix the fence, CRM Property Management ignored us. They are now ignoring my requests to have the nearly $100 that I spent on supplies to be deducted from my rent. They believe that if they just ignore these issues, I will stop calling and it will go away. That will never happen. They have known about these issues for a full year now, but nothing has happened.
On top of this, the communication used by this company is terrible. They are partnered with a national call center that acts as a liaison between the renter and CRM Property Management. I have tried to contact the front desk at their office in Brookline, but they disconnected the phone and it goes straight to voicemail. This third party call center has no idea what is going on and can only relay my message, which never ends in any solution.
If you are considering renting from CRM Property Management, DO NOT DO IT!
I've worked with multiple people from CRG and they are always the best people to work with. Friendly, helpful and have a can-do attitude.
Have lived in a few of of City Realty apartments throughout my time in the city. They are great to work with - very responsive, and friendly.
I have rented multiple properties for City Realty Group - they have excellent quality renovations in awesome locations through Boston, an absolute pleasure to work with. Very responsive and friendly management teams. They do great work developing Boston and giving back to the community. All of my associates love working with them.
I recently relocated but back when I lived in Boston I went though City Realty for my apartment. My roommates and I really appreciated how attentive they were to our needs especially when we ran into problems and/or had questions about our kitchen appliances. The 24 hour service was a life saver!
I just want to take the time out and thank City Realty for their compassion and understanding during this covid crisis time. I am a tenant residing in JP, and with all the craziness going on they have been very reassuring and helpful answering all questions that may come up. I know despite everything going on my phone calls are answered. Thank you Steve, Fred and the rest of the City Realty Crew.
Absolutely horrendous customer service, do NOT use this management company
Cheap tactics. My roommates were coming from India so they had to finalize house quickly. CRM didn't even tell us about heating prices being out of the rent, they didn't tell us that the property is gonna be sold and there is going to be a different owner and a management after december ( as if they picked up some random person from the road on november end and sold it the next day ) Point is they definitely would have known when they were renting us. Didn't tell us about the heating was the biggest problem, now all us roommates are having problems paying heating bills. Even their maintenance is terrible.
I highly recommend City Realty Group. Kristi and Rachel are always friendly, helpful, and responsive to me and my clients. They have many great options around the city and working with them has always proven to be a great experience!
Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had. The listing was deceptive. Listed the property at a fair price and when we went in for the "interview" and was hit with an increase in rent, and other fees that were not disclosed, AFTER they pulled a hard credit check. The whole experience was unprofessional and deceptive. If you can avoid them please do!
Typical for Boston a landlord. Not the best I've had, not the worst.
Literally the worst rental company you can ever imagine! Imagine having slum lords and and then try to contact the rental office and everyone there is extremely rude and passive. Then the company will make up lies about you to make you look bad. DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! I will also be writing to the best business bureau about them as well
Although I had some initial minor issues moving in, the CRG team moved quickly to fix them. I really enjoy my apartment and it is a convenient walk to the T.
A few days ago I was driving on the other side of Route 9 and was pleasantly surprised . My name is on the building. Today I looked at it up close.
It looks lovely as do the other signs.
Thanks once again for providing me the opportunity of having outside visibility.
