Love this place. The trail around the lake. All the little spots you can stop and relax. Wildlife. Ted Ensley Gardens. It would get a 5 star rating, if there were swimming beaches.

Small, easy lake to navigate. As long as you remember to go counter clockwise around the lake.

It's a gorgeous place that is very clean. I love bidding and taking photos here

Great place to walk, jog or run. 7 miles around the lake. Nice botanical garden in the spring thru fall.

Very clean lake handicap parking and fishing areas.

This wonderful place has really cleaned up its grounds. I wish this place was available 24hrs a day, without need for rental units or campground passes.

Did not like the parking at the east side boat ramp people where fishing off the dock where people where trying to put there boats in the lake. This was opening day of Trout season. People where parking in parking spot for the trucks with boat trailers. The state spent slot of money to build the big baseball facility but did not put any money to improve the boat ramps and parking area. Other than that Lake Shawnee is a nice fishing Lake.

So much fun and an relaxinging. Got to spend some tume with friends out on the water! Beatiful park and wrll maintained grounds!

Beautiful turf fields, clean, umpires doing a good job!

An important pillar of Topeka. Not nearly as private as any of the other lakes in the area, and just a great place to be on a beautiful day. Go walking or running on the sidewalk trails, see the magnificent flower gardens, or just take a swim or boat ride. You really can't go wrong out at Lake Shawnee.

Never catch any fish here... tried lots of different spots but always leave disapointed...

There were figure work displays everywhere.all of Topeka was smokey that night.

Love the lake. Its big and spacious. Great for walking, running, boating, fishing... You name it. And the gardens are outstanding.

Great outdoor walking course and flower gardens with multiple gazebos and lakeview overlooks. A must see in spring it still maintains its appeal in the fall as it's many trees and Japanese maples change color.

Couldnt find where we rent the boats. Probably should make a building dedicated to that. + Get some staff that socialize and still work

This is a very nice place to stay and not for a very expensive price! It's a fun way to spend time with the family and enjoy the great outdoors!

Had a great get-together in shelter#3 with Dee & Me hobbies for customer appreciation day. Good food, car show, jumps even aircraft were on display.

It's Ok, some what decent fishing, water ski, you need a lake Table Rock and others. But, in a pinch it will do.

Beautiful Parks. One of the best softball/baseball fields around the area

The golf course was in great shape, I wish or Maintenance building, was like that. Air conditioning!!!!

My family went out for the 4th! It was very relaxing and very few people were there at the area we were at. We bbq and fished and popped lots of fireworks! Although no firework show everyone out by the lake gave a little firework show of their own! Beautiful and well done Stay safe

One of the better recreation opportunities in Topeka. Lots of entertaining things to do and lovely landscaping and great scenery. Great family destination.

Lake is so nice no matter what kinda day it is outside the lake is always nice will relax the $hit out of u I can promise you that

good 7 miles trail well paved road, very good for biking and pedestrians

Nice walking/biking trail that encircles the lake. Several playgrounds for kids. The gardens are very nice.

It is a very quiet place with friendly people where you can spend a very pleasant time either alone or in some company

Went to the Christmas lights display, much more than we expected, police officers were really nice to Children McGruff the crime dog was there and Santa came to each car to collect donation and give candy the children were so excited they were screaming with joy! Lights were beautiful well thought-out and there's a treat on your way out there was a dragon and a Viking ship all lit up coming out of the lake, really enjoyed this.

For the most part I enjoy my walks around the lake. I wish people with pets would clean up after them. Don't know how many times on a walk I end up having to dodge it.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid. I love this lake and the amenities it offers. The best part in my opinion is the flower garden. The swim beach is okay but the excessive algae on the tunnel slides make it seem dirty. They have paddle boats, fishing docks, a pond just for kids to fish, kayaks, boat shows, playgrounds all over the place, rental lodges, special events. It definitely has the family atmosphere people are looking for.

I had forgotten how peaceful it can be at the lake. Beautiful setting with trees and room to walk. Benches and picnic tables are available.

You can not drive to it. Touch road work and not enough public parking.

Lake Shawnee has remained beautiful. Fish was also stocked more this year. Makes for a better outing.

Topeka is a sad, depressing town and having lost my keys in this lake once back in 1985 doesn't help...

Unlimited areas for peace, fun, fishing, trails for bikes and pedestrians, canoe and paddle boat rental available, clean public restrooms, scenic floral/ wedding space, abundant photo opportunities, ball diamonds, volleyball, playgrounds and more!

Good and family friendly place to go and just get outdoors and have fun. Very nice lake and great fishing too.

the beach is open now. I fish here sometimes because it's about a block away from family. but the majority of the lake is covered in fern looking weeds. making snags a constant. even from the docks and with bobbers and top lures.

Other than that, the area seems to be well maintained. And there are allot of family activities to go to worth checking out during the year.

The park and lake have many beautiful things about it ~ the lake itself is nice and the walkways, plants and flowers are gorgeous! However the restroom building with the upper deck and lower patio plus dock are caving in and need to be replaced, weeded and have all of the trash removed in the surrounding area ~ especially the lower concrete patio. Love this park and feel it's buildings and older shelters and picnic tables need the attention they deserve.

An awesome asset to have close by. Beautiful. Good sidewalk that surround the lake. Day camping, overnight camping, golf, paddle boat rental, walking/cycling trail, ball diamonds, swimming beach, and much more to do at Lake Shawnee!

Great place to take the family. Nice paths for walking, biking, etc. Bathrooms are usually clean. Water has blue green algae right now, but is otherwise good for fishing and water sports. We like to picnic around the coves.

Plenty to do around the lake. Top attraction in the area. Make sure to check out adventure cove in the summer with the kids, the rose garden, the shawnee lake golf course, or rent paddle board for a day on the water! The walking trail all around the lake is highly maintained. Other attractions nearby include Tinman circle park (includes small beach and playground), various rentable shelter houses, and a campground. Lastly, the Winter Wonderland by TARC around the Christmas season is a must-see!
