The City of Santa Barbara Police Department was very professional and courteous when they reached out to my company for information regarding a robbery. They were a pleasure to work with and I would be happy to assist them again.

I live in Oregon....i needed help for my sister. Who I had been told, was disaapeared by a gang member. This department deployed everything found my sister; Fast! Served your community and this Country! Deepest Gratitude; Gentleman, Warriors! Sorry it turned out they were all just crazy, I only had the info I had.

My husband called the police on a bunch of teenagers terrorizing our neighborhood with their noise and threatening behavior and when the police arrived, he not only did nothing, he threatened to give my husband a ticket for parking his car in front of OUR driveway! Now that's police work at it's best!!!

I just spent an hour on the Police phone in a hopeless rabbit hole of pre-recorded mumbo jumbo that defaults to "Please give the name of the person you want to speak to...". How the heck should I know? I'm trying to get info about parking places!!! They don't even offer an operator option! Is it Santa Barbara's goal to refuse conversation with ANYONE who calls their number? We were trying to plan a vacation there but with this kind of nonsense I guess they don't want any visitors.

The finest force one has yet to encounter. Small town charm yet true professionals. Wave back to you while on duty with smiles.
Police are the immune system of society,
without them we would all be dead.

Santa Barbara's finest have never let us down. Leaving Cottage tonight spied an officer enjoying his break. Walked over and handed him a Snickers. Boy was he ever grateful. You do the right thing and it comes back to you ten fold. Earlier I found a wallet on the floor of Ralph's and turned it in. Thought I had missed a most important engagement. Turned out he was an hour late. Karma.

Karma is what our police force is all about.

I called the SB non emergency number to have a wellness check done on a relative I was unable to contact and was worried about.
I live in another state.
I was amazed--22 minutes later an officer called me and had already gone to check on my relative.
The officer was very polite and helpful.
Thanks!!

I called to report a trafic violation by an officer that made an illigal U-turn. I was trying to be helpful when calling yet I was spoken to in a manner that put me on the defensive. Now I'm being what seems to be harrased and followed. To the good men and women keeping our city safe, thank you for putting your lives on the line keeping our community safe. To the bullys, behave and be kind.

If you need help don t call them, they are non-responsive. I was told they are on their way twice, and after waiting three hours, they were a no show. When I called back for the sixth time in 2 days I heard the same excuses and conflicting information.

They are worthless.

Stealing money from a disabled college student.......

I was wrongly given a parking citation when I was parked at a blue handicap curb with a handicap sign with my placard displayed. I was given a $60 ticket under the name of parking on a red curb. The address on the parking ticket saying where I the violation occurred wasn t even right. When I contested the citation, I was told my request was denied and I still have to pay the fine because The California Vehicle Code however is very clear regarding stopping or parking at red curbs. ..... I was never at a red curb!!!

Got a $48 ticket for parking a skinny motorcycle in residents only spot believing it was a time limit spot. Submitted an appeal, but received no response. Spent nearly an hour holding on the phone to speak to PD rep. Finally got through and am submitting a second appeal....at which I will be entirely at the mercy of SBPD. Sour grapes aside, I wouldn't rate anything the government does over two stars. Would you? Unless you're on the take, I doubt it.

Went in person for a live scan/fingerprinting. Staff hanging behind the windows unattentive to people walking in. I stood at a window for a while (minute or 2) when it wasn t busy and had to assert myself before I was helped.
PD parking ticket lady kinda racist. I saw her about to ticket my car in front of my house on a street sweeping day so I went outside to ask if I could move my car so I would avoid the ticket and she said No, I m already doing it and as I was walking toward her and my car she hastily made the ticket and drove away ignoring me

Called with a question about filing a police report. The employee sounded as if she could not be bothered and had no interest in my question. Very poor customer service and not a good a example of a public employee.

called at 5pm to report a theft at my place of business a few days prior with the name, address and phone number of the suspect and was told an officer would be by within 2 hours, its been 3 hours now and they said that one probably wouldnt be here for some while still so im going to have to try to see if they can spare a moment of their time tomorrow to look into an extremely easy case....

They are good, pretty good. Except, like all people in government jobs, they have a tendency to get bored during the course of the day. However, Shawn and Gus' presence makes the environment positive and work-friendly, because of the liveliness they bring to the workplace with themselves! :p

I was stopped and got a ticket because my car had very slightly tinted windows (which I was not even aware of, since it was sold that way).

Great use of tax payer's money. Guess there is no crime in SB, so cops have to find something to do to keep busy, and harassing law abiding citizens is what they do. Pathetic!

M.Lopez ID. 6139 was very unprofessional towards me. I went to get a Summary of Criminal Activity requested by my new employer. I have never been arrested, but I have been pulled over twice and received two citations which were shortly dismissed. To receive a Criminal Record solely from Santa Barbara County it is $10 if nothing shows up and $25 if you have a record. I have never been arrested or have been guilty of any traffic crimes. Why is a citation from Jan 2015 still on my record which was dismissed? When I asked for a complaint form, she had me ask for it 3 times (and one other time before I spoke with her) and she had the audacity to say "I don't live in your head" referring to when I had previously mentioned having no recollection of Jan 2015; I wasn't talking about the events of Jan 2015, I wanted a complaint form and she wanted to hear my complaint until the end of time. After asking her if she handled complaints (which she said no to) I once again asked her for a form and after handing it to me she said, "good luck with that" no one deserves to be treated like that. I am not a criminal but this piece of paper given to me by SBPD says I am. What good is this piece of paper if it is putting me at a disadvantage in life. How am I suppose to not feel like the Santa Barbara Police Department has affected my job opportunities by retaining and displaying inaccurate information about my criminal history. I want social justice. $25 for an inaccurate background check and less job opportunities. I feel scammed by people who are supposed to protect and serve. This is not my complaint letter.

I've had to be fingerprinted for multiple jobs. I called the sheriff's office and they're usually booked out 2-3 weeks in advance, so I thought I'd try the police department. Never again. For a fingerprint card at the sheriff's office, it's $7. At the SBPD, it's $25. Livescan costs me about $45 at the Sheriff, but SBPD charges around $75. The SBPD also won't tell you the cost ahead of time.

Wow... now I understand why this department has such poor reviews. I called to tell the department that someone had put traffic cones in the Milpas round-about and they were scattered everywhere because of people driving over them. Dispatch told me that they thought someone was moving big vehicles through the area and that's why the cones were there. I said that was great, but it didn't get the cones out of the middle of the traffic lanes so they weren't causing a major hazard. She said "Okay, well we might have someone look into it thanks" and HUNG UP ON ME! God am I glad I hadn't called with an actual emergency... with SBPD I'd probably be dead.
