I debated posting this review for fear I was being petty, but frankly I believe people need to be forewarned.
My child went here for 2 years, and we originally placed her here because the organization claims to be Christian, but about the only Christian thing I saw there were the weekly Bible verses the children were expected to learn.
My child struggled to learn the basic moves and stay focused, and where I expected that the instructor would take time to get her focused and learning the moves, I noticed more and more that she was being passed by. The students who were already succeeding were given even more attention and time because, frankly, this studio seems most concerned about winning, not about building character, skills, or teamwork.
My child was set to perform within a few weeks and then COVID hit, closing the facility that had been rented. One would think that we would get a refund for that, but instead Nu Revolution recouped their losses by taking those refunds for anyone who had not paid their monthly tuition yet; mind you, they did not HAVE any in-house classes that month, but had offered a small handful of Zoom classes that my child didn't even participate in.
For one performance piece we had to pay for custom dance costumes, that were supposed to match the measurements they took ahead of time. Almost none of the costumes fit any of the dancers, and the owner recommended a seamstress that she personally had used for years, she said. Because the performance was coming up soon, she greatly "suggested" that we pay the additional rush fee to get them resized. No apologies or refunds were ever given, quite the contrary. There were multiple dance moms who simply didn't have the money for a tailor, for costumes that should have already fit perfectly, and they were highly stressed.
Repeatedly, we tried to address these issues, but the owner/main instructor claimed she had received no correspondence from us, even though multiple posts had been deleted from their Facebook page, and none of my emails were responded to. Also, despite repeatedly giving them our email addresses, we did not receive the informational emails from them until we had another dance mom start forwarding them to us.
The entire time we took her there, we felt unwanted, estranged, and like our daughter was just a paycheck to them. There are other dance studios in Richmond, at an affordable price. A quick Google search may save you money and a headache.
