Police work is dead in Chattanooga. If you speed or do drugs or shoot people they will look into it (MAYBE). Proactive Policing is completely gone in the city. Ive lived a lot of places and Chattanooga is the worst. Its paradise for criminals who like taking other peoples things because the CPD doesn't do a thing about it. DO NOT MOVE HERE if you like your things. Sad state for a beautiful city

The cops in this department are unbelievable. Search YouTube for " Illegally Detained and Searched by +7 Police Officers for Filming in Public (Revised)" to see how idiotic these cops are. They say that they are actually trained this way! The more they try to explain, the more they prove that they cannot understand the most basic concepts surrounding interaction with the public. They illegally search these guys, illegally detain them for an hour, and illegally try to force them to ID themselves, all to release them after an hour when a supervisor finally show up. They specifically express contempt for the US Constitution, and even offer to write a bogus ticket to force ID, right there on camera. Does anybody think this is not how they normally operate? Disgraceful.

Just saw a video of an officer Thomas tazing, abusing, and arresting an innocent man because he told him to close your mouth and open your ears. This officer needs to be fired. However, he was only suspended. As usual the department tries to keep things under wraps without informing the public because they don t want the world to see that the entire department is corrupt. The fact that the police leadership continues to protect bad officers is evident of the fact that they approve of the actions from the bad officers. Officer Thomas should no longer qualify to serve as a cop.

I was at the Chattanooga airport because I left so...

I was at the Chattanooga airport because I left something valuable in a rental car. I wasn't in there for no more than 2 minutes. I was about to crank up and pull off. The cop came to.my car and stated rudely and screaming please move you car and two things; you was on the walkway and you need to move your car. I said yes sir. He said move it now. I was trying to explain after he finished that I apologized and was going to move it. He proceeded to go to the car in front of me to tell them the same thing apparently. I understood. I was texting my sister to let her know I got the valuable object and was leaving. He came back and said put the phone down and move the car. I said yes sir. As I was waiting to see if the car in front of me which had his lights on was going to back up or go and if I needed to wait. He tapped on my car hard on the trunk. Both very inappropriate and said you need to move this car now when you see this badge no correction, he said you see this badge when an officer says move or to do something you don't hestitate, ask questions or do anything else. I just simply said yes sir again out of respect although he didn't respect me nor was he professional. An officer that wears a badge should be respectable and calm in all situations especially with a citizen that is being respectful towards you. I understand I wasn't parked appropriately;I am not at least upset about correction, but I will not be disrespected by any cop that wears a badge in any city, town, or province when I haven't disrespected an officer or displayed suspicious behavior. So I say to this officer and the entire department Give repect and you will earn it. As an educator, I was put out by his blatent rudeness and didn't appreciate his lack of patience as I feared if I wasn't in public, what would have happened. Citizens be warned and always obey the law, but officers be warned to be patient, respectable and listen to law abiding citizens without abusing the power of the badge and your oath to protect and serve not pest and sideline rude behavior and comments while wearing the badge towards ctizens. If I did that as an educator. My students will not respect me nor parents.

If you had a modicum of professionalism and respect for the truth, that lying, undisciplined Officer Cody Thomas would have been charged and sacked from the force. This behaviour must stop; maverick police must be held accountable. Any wonder most Americans have lost faith in law-enforcement authorities. Shame on you.

They just decide to raid legal sanctioned events and kick everyone out because they are completely incompetent. They receive information about an event months in advance but cant be bothered to read it so they just pull up their pampers and come in like the attendees are setting up crack selling booths.

No respect for chattanoogas citizens and to be honest they arent even doing much about chattanoogas crime. What are we paying them for exactly?

You are attempting to end what little civil rights are left in some communities with your so called "Safety Zone" code for "Martial Law". Pathetic, the POLICE are causing far more issues than they are addressing. You have to engage the community and ASK them if they want to come under "MARTIAL LAW", call it what it is. Be HONEST. Horrible, disgraceful, criminal and fundamentally against the Constitution. Shame on you Chief Fletcher, Shame, Shame, Shame.

Hey Chattanooga, How are multiple criminals getting off their charges by paying $7,500 to their attorneys while innocent civilians are maliciously sent to trial based on false police reports? I thought that was called racketeering, bribery and corruption!

So far here is what Chattanooga, Tennessee's Officers and the Judicial System are guilty of:
Attempted Murder
Assault and Battery
Coercion and Bribery
Multiple Constitutional Violations
Issued Death Threats
Deprivation of Rights under Color of Law
Destroying Trial Evidence

There is a serious problem when the most corrupt state in the union is ignored by the IA, DoJ, and the FBI for corruption allegations when there is a plethora of significant evidence.

CPD Internal Affairs will mock you if you try to submit evidence or a report.

We need a citizen review board holding Chattanooga Police Officers and Internal Affairs accountable like normal cities do, where other Police and I.A. Departments have proven incompetent or corrupt.

Chattanooga Literally make's a mockery of justice in multiple areas of local government.

I am completely ASHAMED to be from Tennessee after everything I have learned and experienced!

We have had Enough of Corruption in Tennessee!

It HAS to END!

Re: Officer Cody Thomas of Chattanooga PD

Cop Tasers Innocent Man in the Back Then Asks Fellow Cops to Help Make Up Charges

CPD Asst. Chief Glen Scruggs said in a case summary that he found Officer Thomas

Used force outside of the department s standard guidelines
Submitted official reports that contained false and misleading information
Showed willful indifference to complaints of a prisoner
Displayed behavior and used language during his interaction with citizens that was unnecessary and unprofessional
For all these violations, officer Thomas received a two week vacation and then went right back to regular duty. Thomas has been on the department since 2016. Rest assured that by 2026, he will have cost the department millions in lawsuits from incidents just like this one.

Sep 2 12pm chattanooga police respond to my call. I called them because a vehicle almost ran me over in the entrance of Lowe's. I followed the family to their paking spot and processed to call the police. When the police came they had three patrol cars with the sirens full blast, and zoomed toward me aggressively. Long story short i was told that i CANT EVER ENTER LOWES PARKING LOT AGAIN!? AND THAT I WOULD BE ARRESTED IF I WAS TO CURSE AT ANYONE AGAIN?! BECAUSE I CURSED AT THE DRIVER TWICE FOR ALMOST RUNNING ME OVER IN A VEHICLE I WAS ON A DIRT JUMPER BICYCLE!? I told the police officer they need to learn the law and stop picking on people from other states im from California and where im from the police always protect the pedestrians and bicyclists. And i thought Tennessee was filled with sweet southern hostility

Car wreck today. Car hit us and took off. Called cops. Takes 11 mins to show up in the middle of downtown. Then cop acts like we are the fault of wreck. We asked to see the footage from cameras at red lights to view the car that hit us and left scene of wreck. Cop says no camera at that red light. Well car would had to drive right by other cameras at red lights and businesses at north shore. Dark car missing half a front bumper.

I just want to request an accident report but the woman who picked up for the number listed said she is not the right person. She redirected me to the entirely wrong department. That department again redirected me to the wrong people. Finally, someone at the police station gave me a number for the records department and no one ever picks up the phone! They really need to get it together because this place is an unprofessional, unorganized mess or rude and incompetent people!
Also, don't even get me started on the high and mighty police officers who act like they know the law. Every single police report I've ever seen from this place has errors!

Yesterday 12/1/16 I was on my way to an important Dr. appointment when I ran into a funeral procession coming out of a church on Brainerd Rd. between Moore Rd and the tunnels. I got as close to the end of the funeral line coming out onto Brainerd Rd. as I could as I was late for the appointment. As the last of the procession turned out onto Brainerd Rd. and started off toward town the cop sitting in his spiffy new SUV at the end of it started to move. I let my vehicle come forward about 2 feet or so in anticipation of falling in behind the procession and simply making the best time I could and hoping to make my appointment on time in spite of the delay. The cop in the SUV turned suddenly toward me and with a totally ugly expression on his face literally SCREAMED into my face "Where the &^%$ do you think YOU are going?!!" This was not only totally uncalled for, it was disrespectful and authoritarian in the extreme and completely unbecoming of a public servant whose salary I pay with the taxes STOLEN by this government from my hard earned money! I wish it known that I will not tolerate this again. The next time I will scream right back in HIS face and if the result is a physical altercation then so be it. I may end up in jail but he will end up with bruises at the least and he WILL know that he has been in a fight. I will no longer simply accept the presence of authoritarian, arrogant, paranoid, trigger-happy NEANDERTHALS ordering me around as though I were some anti-bellum slave and treating me with total disrespect. That stops as of yesterday no matter what the result is.

Great place. I was arrested by them one time and I must say, Officer Lopez was very gentle as he placed the cuffs on my hands. He didn't put them too tight, but enough were I couldn't twist my hand to pick the lock. He was very serious and understanding about his job. The patrol car was very roomy and even smells delightful. Guards at intake were even respectfully rude. But overall I would definitely get arrested by them again

So there was a red light on Hwy 153 that was having issues and would stay red for a extremely long time (10 mins or longer) and this happened probably because of the bad storm we just had. I sat and watched multiple cars and semi's run this light after waiting so long. The first time I called the police department I spoke with someone who talked like she didn't care I there was a wreck or anything. She didn't take my name or number or anything and hung up. So I called a second time and spoke with a different woman who acted like she cared and said she would send an officer. So after waiting a moment or two I saw an officer drive up and watch the lights behavior then turned on their light and act like they were about to direct traffic and then boom after its 10-15 min wait the light turned green. I'm guessing the cop thought this meant it worked and turned off his lights and left. I then watched the beginning scenario all over again. I called the police department a THiRD time and then the lady said that it wasn't just in their man power to watch and take care of this light that traffic repair would be there soon. So people running the red light and not even stopping was a wreck waiting to happen.
