Citadel Azur Resort Review

The elevator isn't working so we have to take 8 floors stairs to get to my room also from the beginning it took about 2 hours to check in

Nice place at which all rooms are sea view..and service nice food in all types but There are only two concerns:
1-if you are using wheelchair you will suffer alot because there is no elevator or electrical stair here cover all the area!
2-there is a leak in green area here because it was designed as citadel design.

The hotel landscape, beaches and pools are amazing

The food is below average
The hotel restaurants and pools are not enough if the hotel is even 75% utilized
It is not child friendly
Marina rooms are the best

Had a great holiday at the citadel resort plenty to do and some nice restaurants my only issue is with the main reception team who are really not very helpful once you are in your room apart from this it was very enjoyable

Judging by the reviews, the hotel is great, but we have to give up because of the mafia taxi, and space prices for the course, for example, to Senzo Mall, or to the center. They say they pay 40 $ for a one-way nightmare course. This hotel should provide your tourists with a minibus plying several times a day / could be paid /. In our case it decided that we chose another hotel - a damage.

The best hotel in which I had a rest. Huge clean rooms, very polite and courteous staff, speaking at least five languages, excellent SPA, bar, restaurant. Everything feels high quality service!

1. Rooms

All rooms are facing the sea and most of them really can be seen. The question is how good ...
Very odd location - front line standards with great views. Deluxe and many others overlooking a piece of the sea and a standard roof))
Also, the deluxe has a completely incomprehensible shower room, and the standard often has a shower room with a window facing the sea (be careful, you can be seen;)).

2. Pools

Only three small and cold pools on a huge territory, all only until 17:00.
One of them is perfect for lovers of photography in the pool with panoramic sea views.
The jacuzzis on the street were almost all closed, and the few that were open were constantly occupied by the locals.

3. Food

At the 4 * or even 3 * level. It's good that there was almost always fish in batter, sometimes fried with vegetables.
"Sushi" - a washer of rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds with tiny pieces of cucumber inside))))
"Pizza" - dry lavash with tomato paste and a little cheese)
Good / edible also included grilled chicken (but very dry) and kebab.
There is no sweet pastry at all ... The country is so rich in fruits, and one tiny piece is put into the pastries

From fruits were: melon, dates (sometimes green), apples, pomegranate

The following set was given to the plane:
- a sandwich consisting of a long roll (as for regular hot dogs) with two slices of spicy cheese. I couldn't eat it ...
- the same sandwich, but with two pieces of some kind of "sausage";
- 3 pcs. round "sweet" buns;
- a tiny cucumber, jam, apple.

3.2 Food in "restaurants"

They will bring you the same thing that you can take absolutely calmly during a regular buffet for dinner))))

4. Sea

Very beautiful reef, but as for Hurghada, then generally WOW! A lot of different marine life (no moray eels)))

But, at the same time, absolutely AWESOME going out to sea. There is NO ONE pantone, as is usually the case in all hotels with a reef!
That is, you can either go to the steps at the entrance to the bay and from there swim to the reef ...
Or in one single place on the beach (where there are a lot of people) go into the water on the sand and then swim a little, climb over the stones and finally find yourself on the reef ...
Or for a long time (30 meters) trying to walk / get through the rocks and the reef (water up to the knee), then finally to be in the sea and swim normally! This is the picture that awaits you along the entire length of the beach.

5. Personnel

The cleaners are polite and smiling, but the cooks and waiters are 50/50 :(
A young tall guy with slicked hair who stands at the distribution of ice cream is generally an extremely unpleasant character. Looks like a serial killer and behaves in a similar way.
The local taxi manager is a nasty boor and a goat.

6. Transfer and departure to the city

You can NOT call Uber directly to the lobby ... It will simply not be allowed into the territory and you will have to walk to the barrier (about 20 minutes walk through the hills without much lighting). At the reception desk they could call and say skip, but they don't, so that the local cattle-taxi driver could cash in on you!
At the same time, when you return from the city to the hotel by any car, you will easily be let through to the very lobby.

For understanding, uber will cost $ 4-5 to the center of Hurghada.
And the hotel taxi driver will want $ 10 from you ...
At the same time, if there are two of you, then you will not be alone in the car ... At least 3 more strangers will be put to you !!!!
They say the car is designed for 7 seats ... True, one of them is the driver's, and 2 is the third row of seats in the trunk of the crossover))))))))

7. Territory

Huge and well appointed. The hotel is really large and striking in scale, you can safely walk through it in the evening. The length of the hotel is about 1 km along the coast with interesting infrastructure.
I think it was even cooler here before quarantine, due to animations and parties (which are closed during quarantine).
For dinner, pleasant live music is played in one of the halls and outside.

Great hotel, but compared to Azur (previously owned by this chain) the level of the hotel has decreased.

We were very excited for the seven days we were here. Very good food. Friendly staff. Room very nice, with a sea view & always very well tidy!
The construction work didn't bother us at all.
The long sandy beach is just as beautiful. I would definitely come back again! :)

The rude stuff made my 6 days stay is the worst ever, I m shocked with the poor quality of service you would receive in such amazing place! Seriously the hotel management need a deep overlook on their performance, simply no one knows how to do his work! I m shocked!! The foreigner staff is the only one who you could talk took down and still because of the local staff nothing goes right! The place is again amazingly awesome, food s quality is so low like others 4 stars hotels!! Local alcohol is so bad and will make you in headache! The worsts is the receptionists, they can t speak English nor understand it, huge language barrier and their attitude U.N. accepted, Mohamed Abdel Wahab front office manager at the check in processing give a freaking hard time I had to stay till 7:30pm, I was forced to pay the extra charge $850! The hotel the security staff refused in many times to give access to my Uber ride to pick me up from reception area, I missed my Transportation to Cairo today because of a rude staff makes up his own rules and refused to let my transportation gain access and I had my heavy luggage on me!! However this time I reported this to the foreigner guest relations staff 30 minutes in advance so the security has instructions letting my ride gains access, and they said it should be very okay to let Uber s come to pick up guest from reception area. But this rude guy Mohamed insists refuses and I heard him talking to my driver over the phone and saying this is my call, I won t let any taxi or Uber driver go through my gate and if the guest doesn t like that they could either walkout their putts or simply don t come back to the citadel!!! I had to Yale at the receptionist to rush my car inside or I m gonna miss my flight!! I have seen many recents reviews and comments from others about the same concerns, rude staff, poor food quality and great building!! AND NO RESPONSE FROM MANAGEMENT !!!!

All in all, the hotel is just wonderful. Beautiful design in the form of a stone citadel. Huge and well-groomed area. Private beach 1.6 km long. All rooms have sea views. Stylish and spacious rooms. New plumbing. Very tasty food, especially liked the Moroccan restaurant. Grilled dishes are served daily for lunch. Two infinity pools. Jacuzzi. Extremely beautiful promenade. There are many advantages, you can write about them for a long time.

Cons that spoil the impression:
1). Do not let other people's taxis at the reception. And they want an average of $ 25 for their service. Uber or local companies with a meter will cost at least twice as cheap. From the reception to the checkpoint exit the hotel about 1, 6 km.

2). Wi-Fi in the room did not catch. I told the administration about it at the reception 10 times. Empty promises and all. The hotel guide also did not resolve the issue.

3). The air conditioning in the room was cleaned a long time ago. When we turned it on, the child began to have allergies. I just had to ventilate.

4). The hotel guide from the Annex of the tour takes time from people and spoils the rest, if you do not buy a tour from him.

5). Floor lamps in the rooms in a thick layer of pollen. It seems that they have not been wiped for years.

6). Peppers and persimmons are often terribly washed. With pieces of dirt.

Awesome place! Awesome food. Several restaurants and activities. The infinity swimming pool is quite nice. Very friendly people. The things are a little bit annoying are the people trying to sell you tours while you walk along the beach and you can hear the people in the other rooms, but honeltly, all the other good things compensates it.

The most beautiful hotel in Hurghada! I was there while COVID-19 restrictions were included (50% of hotel's capacity, some of the restaurants were closed, discotheque, reduced food choice...), and besides it was a dream come true. Heaven like. Recommended 5 star hotel (city actually)!

It was a very good experience. I like it too much. The stuff, the food, the place it self. I enjoyed there with my wife. It was my first time there and of course i will do it again. The stuff is very helpful. The food is very nice. The hotel is very quiet. The view from the room is so beautiful.

The hotel has a unique architecture. Big enough. Consists of a large number of levels. There are rooms after renovation, there are quite old ones, requiring renovation and replacement of furniture. The staff is qualified. The attitude towards everyone is the same, quite respectful. At the time of rest (mid-July 2020) there is no active animation. In the evening there is live music, dance shows are held in the amphitheater. Meals for breakfast and lunch are simple and not varied, dinners are better, but much simpler than in previous years. An important point is the sea. You can enter from the shore only in one lagoon (Royal), but its size is not large. Access to the reef is possible from this lagoon, but you will have to swim between the stones, which is quite dangerous with the waves (it can throw on these stones). At the end of the beach line there is a "Wild Beach". On the left side of it there is one passage to the reef. You can also go out through the lagoon, where yachts enter. The reef is big - there is something to see. But it will not work just to take and go to it from any place, you will have to perform additional actions. For sea lovers, I highly recommend exploring all these points. The ebb and flow are pronounced. There are several pools, but they are crowded. The hotel is currently under load. I am sure that when the hotel is loaded closer to the maximum, there will be difficulties, both with swimming in the sea and in the pool.
Room cleaning as luck would have it. The dollar improves the quality significantly. The minibar is refilled as it turns out, i.e. not always. The hotel is not bad, but for lovers of the open sea and sandy setting, I would not recommend it.

Everything is right in this hotel if you are good on foot

Super nice hotel, clean and well-kept, modern rooms, nice staff. Well-kept pools and a totally beautiful beach with a reef, perfect for snorkeling. We really enjoyed the week and felt very comfortable.
The food was tasty and fresh, but there could be a little more choice.

The reception had no idea what was going on when asked. Different answers every time you were there. Little poor variety with food otherwise good. There is snorkeling right off the beach.

Rested in this hotel from 8 to 17 January 2019, compared with last year, not quite satisfied with the rest, because came at the moment of reconstruction, due to the change of concept from Azur to Albatross, which was not warned by the operator Teztur. But the hotel itself and the location are the same excellent, the magnificent beach with corfs and rich marine fauna, the hotel itself is designed so that the rooms overlook the sea, and the hotel has a huge territory, and therefore you can relax very privately .to. not felt the number of people. Excellent service and food, but unfortunately, at the moment there are only 2 restaurants and all the shows are held in a very small place where they are very uncomfortable to watch. But, we were told that in the future everything will change for the better, we'll see. I would like to wish prosperity Citadel, under any brand!

Large Hotel , privat marina , good food , nice staff, including 2 open Buffett restaurant, a fish restaurant, a Brazilian restaurant, and an italian restaurant , also a cafe and ice cream corner by the marina .
3 swimming pools and Jacuzzi tubs are also available , night show at 9 daily and live songs to 11 pm

The place is amazing! great scenery ..the staff is very helpful and the chef was very keen to listen to our comments and make sure that our food is perfect ..we had dinner at the morrocan restaurant & oriental restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious & the portions were huge. .we had the best time and will definitely come back.

Nice hotel, I love the architecture. Not suitable for seniors , long walking distances with different levels on ramps or stairs, the beach is nice but you can safely swim only in few spots away from the rocks and 3 pools are available , stuff need a bit more training specially in restaurants , the Food quality in main restaurant was barely acceptable , the oriental restaurant was good but need prior reservation. Good Hotel that could perform better with better management!

An outstanding, almost Mediterranean building made mainly of coral stone; therefore also sinful (!) beautiful!
Meanwhile, with many culinary venues and a local 'exceptional discotheque', the 'Golden Boodha' equipped, moreover, even experienced divers at the local, breathtakingly beautiful house reef leave nothing to be desired. Of eagle rays, just filmed by me, when jumping over the edge of the reef, sea turtles and large barracudas, not to mention, is the entrance to the beach 3 or from the artificial lagoon to the reef edge completely easy to do by anyone. Too bad that here, too, as unfortunately almost everywhere in the world, nobody seems to be responsible for the safety and the preservation of the sea creatures / inhabitants and the coral reefs!
One has to deal with it in places, so close to extremely endangered flora and fauna today more responsibly and intensively also take care of the protection; Unfortunately, this is far from being the case, there are a lot of points deduction from me and I can not recommend it !!!

The location of the first room was nice. You just couldn't use the bathroom. Mold made this impossible. The second room bathroom better but location worse. Right over the coffee. Just awful. . Hotel has been over bay. Other guests should be taken somewhere else. Thank God we were spared. Have you ever been there since the change of ownership has gotten much worse.
