If you want TexMex at a casual dining price, with a funky decor, then Chuy's is the way to go. Be sure to request the Creamy Jalapeno Sauce to go with your chips.
This Chuy's is pretty good, but still isn't as good as the one in Waco,TX.

Great food as always. Our server, Kendall, was attentive and prompt, took great care of us through our myriad of requests. My Shiner was ice cold, and Kendall stayed right on top of drink refills for the rest of the family. Highly recommended!

Decent tex mex food. The restaurant is famous in its own right so if you haven't been here before, it's one of those things you have to do. This location in particular has a huge patio. It's more like a yard. Very nice hanging out there.

I want to love Chuy's...but I don't. I have lived in Austin for 35 years, and it's an Austin original, yada yada. But the truth is that there are really only two things on the menu that I like, and that's not enough to make me come here. The Chuychanga is excellent, and the bacon-wrapped rellenos are unforgettable -- although the rellenos are available only on Friday. The rest of the menu, however, is uninspiring. My wife and I love the creamy jalapeno sauce for chips. After that, well, I struggle to order something I like.

If you're looking for true Austin Tex-Mex, look no further. Chuy's is hands-down the most delicious and most affordable. I highly recommend going at happy hour for the half-price appetizer sampler. It comfortably feeds two, and is amazing to boot. And in a few months, when I'm 21, I will pound those margaritas down like there's no tomorrow.

I come to Austin once a year for work and stopping at Chuy's for a bite and a t-shirt has become a tradition.
They didn't have my preferred t-shirt in my size this year but 5 starts for the great food and friendly service!

To go order system could be better. Had to wait for 10 minutes after arriving for an order that should have been ready 7 minutes before I arrived. Host/to-go person took were absent and then took care of people who arrived after me before they took care of me. Food was good though, although pretty cold. Salad dressing were hot. Makes sense since the food was sitting an extra 10-12 minutes while I waited.

I truly do not understand what anyone could see in this place. Not only the worst "tex-mex" we have ever had but, just some of the worst food in general. So many more amazing restaurants around this city to enjoy. Not sure how this place can even stand up to places like La posada or polvos. Maybe because Chuys is a place where you can let your children run around and act crazy. Drinks are terrible. Food is bland.

This place is an Austin institution. This a newer location in the south. The original is near Zilker. This is a place that all love here in Austin. Don t expect authentic Mexican food but come with an open mind to their twist on Texas Mexican. You won t be disappointed. Bar with a bunch of bottled Cerveza and they have margaritas. Always busy.

We got a huge burrito but the chicken fajitas inside was burnt, we asked the waiter about it and he promptly took it back and brought us another one that was perfectly cooked.
Very good service and food, highly recommended.

We've been to several chuy's at least 15 times now. This location we usually order takeout and almost every time, the order is wrong. Finally this last visit was missing sides, had the wrong kind of enchilada AND relleno fillings in both our entrees, this was an online order also, no way to misunderstand. Plus the queso that is over $1/oz was missing an entire oz, I weighed it. A quarter of what we paid for just not included. I guess they hope people just won't notice to save a tiny bit of food? Very cheap of them. Finally this was just one too many mistakes and we called the restaurant to let them know. They had to call me back after 'searching' for the order. I guess they found it and realized they did make a mistake because they offered to just refund the whole order. Although they made it right, we don't really want a free wrong order, we just want the food we ordered. /: We've decided this was our last visit to any chuy's. Very dssapointing because their food is pretty tasty, if the order is right.

I normally enjoy my meal when I dine at Chuy s but unfortunately today I was very disappointed. I was enjoying my meal when I discovered a hait on my plate. I will not be returning to this establishment

We haven't had much TexMex during COVID. We have a soft spot for Chuys. They knew that it was our anniversary so they threw in a nice card with a Tres Leche Cake. We loved our Fajitas and Beef Burrito with Hatch Chili Sauce too. The fajitas were for 1, but that were big enough for 3 meals. The queso and jalapeno sauce were big hits.

We are fans of Chuy's but not this location. Sunday they got our take out order wrong. Unfortunately I did not check inside the containers before I left. I called back to say they got it wrong. Amy said she was the one that took the order and that we got what I ordered. She was supposed to call back and still has not. And a few weeks ago my husband had a chuychunga there that only had one piece of chicken. I emailed about it - no reply. We'll be eating at a different location.

Got there, got a number and was told it s a 30 minutes wait. The wait dwindled down. People after us started getting seated. Then people off the streets got seated. We were the only ones sitting and waiting. The hostess came over and asked what number our pager was. She never came back. Realized she messed up. We left. I called to speak to a manager. Never came on after waiting over 7 minutes. I owned and managed high volume restaurants for over 20 years. 3 hostesses with seaters on top of that and you ruin someone s day that drove 30 minutes to specifically go there. #FAIL

Our group went here a couple nights ago. It was packed, even for a Tuesday night. Ordered a fajita burrito. It was MASSIVE. I included a pic with a fork for a scale reference. I could not finish it all. It was delicious. I gave it 4 stars because I thought the service was a little slow. But a good meal and good friends to eat with. The decor of the place was cool, paintings and hubcaps everywhere. Yes, hubcaps!!!

The quality of the foods seems to go down as the prices go up. For instance, the steak burrito (that used to be $8-9, is now close to $12) does not look like a burrito but more like a soft taco. There is not that much steak in the burrito. It's mostly flour tortillas. The charros bean soup is only one quarter full. The rice that goes with the dish is dry.
