I love our art gallery. I still get blown away by the curation and depth of art on display. Headspace is definitely worth visiting

This is the City Art Gallery for Christchurch, it is a great place to go when you are on a budget because of the free entry. Some very cool Paintings inside.

Great building, small but lovely collection with special exhibitions throughout the year. Nice shop also. Helpful staff. Park house right beside, very convenient (with first hour free parking). Definitely a must see in Christchurch.

Very good art gallery with a great collection of both European and NZ artists. Includes a few works by famoua Impressionists.

The spaces are amazing. Rich sptial design for exhibitions.

Enjoyed time spent here. Artwork on display was varied & would probably suit most tastes. Well set out & the interactive displays relating to the sections was very good & informative.

Always love visiting our Art Gallery, the perfect spot on a wet day and Sundays are a great time to visit. Exhibitions well curated.

Nice art gallery. It was interesting to see and experience kiwi art. Best of all, it's free.

Mixture of maori and European works very modern building

An amazing experience, even the kids loved it. And it's free (although there are donation boxes if you feel inclined)

Really disappointed with range of paintings on offer for viewing.

There is a parking lot in the downstairs room, but if you just want to stop for an hour, you can recommend a cheaper stop. There are many cafes and restaurants near the museum, you can spend a long time leisurely. There is a free guided tour of the museum at 11 o'clock in the morning and 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I think it is worth attending. If you don't know anything about New Zealand, this is the best place for the first stop. The guides will have a series and introduce you to the museum. The process of establishment, Maori culture and art evolution.

Lots of exhibitions covering all sorts of art. Staff very helpful. Interactive exhibitions in the yellow room!

Really aught to get some immigrant artists represented here...

Beautiful building and a good variety of artworks to enjoy

The gallery is magnificent however the contemporary art on display at the time (25 june 2018) was uninspiring sadly.

A highlight of our time in Christchurch, and the best art gallery we have been to in New Zealand. The art is varied and very high quality and the exhibition on Louise Henderson is gorgeous. The gallery is free with an optional donation. There is a free bag and coat check. The gallery is cozy warm. Very worth going to!

A great place to wander around and feel inspired. Always good for a family walk or by oneself. See the world in one place through different colours....

Nice gallery, spacious, lovely exhibitions, really enjoyed bill hammond's exhibition and the wheriko exhibition.

What an amazing facility, and I don't really like art! Staff are very helpful and friendly and from what i saw, exhibitions are diverse, renewed fairly often and the gift shop has heaps of lovely items. Art makes me angry, but the ChCh Art Gallery made me happy again. Go figure!

Experience a great way to gain fresh perspective and perhaps find new calm by slowing down.

Great display space with great artist works on display.

Such a big space with so called art, during my last visit the displays were just awful, what a waste of such a great building.

Was thrilled to finally see William Wegman s collection of Weimaraner photos! Worth the trip!

The gallery is well kept and designed. I wasn't a fan of all their art and exhibitions, but they were okay. I wish there has been more of the local artist's paintings and sculptures rather that the weird and boring light show they tried to market as their main attraction. 'Man/chicken' was the best thing in that place.

Very nice gallery, there is something for all styles, after that you have to love ... oh yes, and it's free and good wifi connection!

The Canterbury film society is a fantastic place to go on Monday evenings

Half of the gallery was closed. Did not care for the main gallery exhibit.

Can definitely spend hours here look8ng at all the pieces on display. Early NZ landscape paintings, contemporary, modern, and also interactive displays over 2 floors in a great exhibition space.

Nice displays and free guided tour with experts really helped make the visit more interesting. Cafe downstairs is superb also and a bit flash

Not for all audiences but certainly interesting to discover because centered on New Zealand. We also had a small concerto from the music group of one of the most prestigious schools in the city (Christ's College)!

Fantastic establishment, constantly rotating exhibitions to keep it fresh and worth coming back for.

Mix of classical art about New Zealand and / or New Zealand artist, and partially New Zealand contemporary art. Overall good, and free

Recently reopened and off to a great start. Fascinating exhibits with a sizeable portion of local and indigenous work.

Just there to sit on the grass out side. And watch the cycle racing.

(Free Entry) Awesome place to visit if you are a tourist or just looking for something to do in Christchurch. The gallery includes a cafe and food establishment and a gift shop with novelty Kiwiana items, books on the history of the area and more. The gallery itself is great with unique and frequently changing exhibits from famous and local artists. Great place to visit anytime!

Pretty tedious like most art galleries and museums. The building is an architectural eyesore.

Great display of old and contemporary art. Good gift shop too.
