One of my favorite places on earth. The acoustics here are perfect, the symphony and its directors (I think I've seen three world-renowned directors now) are on almost every top ten orchestra list, and their programming is always perfect.

Beautiful home for the Chicago Symphony, but the acoustics have been lacking since the redesign in 1995-97. The best seats for sound are in the lower balcony. Higher pitched tones are harder to hear unless you get to experience a visiting European orchestra with precise ensemble playing. The brass is hard to hear from the main floor and upper balcony sound is muffled by a huge and low overhang.

A very historic venue built in 1904. The exterior is full of masterpieces with Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert and Wagner.
Before he died, I was happy to see Ricardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performances here. The pre-performance commentary is also good and the staff is very kind.

What is great about this place is the CSO. And the history. Honestly though, the hall is a little long In the tooth. If you ever hear the CSO in another venue you ll hear the difference. But they still sound great here. Sound quality on the back of main floor is so so. Once you get under the balcony the sound can get muted and flat. The seats behind the stage are pretty cool if you have a good conductor, but the sound is a little off as half the musicians are facing away from you. Lower balcony is best, but sound quality in the cheap seats is actually quite good.

Love this place! We are the symphony subscribers. The customer services are wonderful and people are really polite and helpful. You will enjoy some world class performances from Muti, Robert Chen etc who are the well know performers of the world. CSO also bring some fun programs like movie series like Harry Porters which are just Amazing! Last but not the least, CSO is also focusing on culture exchange. They have been Asian countries and also bring Chinese performers to perform at every Chines New Year.

Beautiful 100 year old building. Avoid the last rows of the main floor and of the balconies. For the money you can't go wrong with anywhere in the lower balcony within the first 12 rows or so.

They have some of the best orchestral performances. As I'm a student I've only got 10$ student tickest for some of the programs. I loved the performances a lot but I also have gotten to know that some of their seats really sock!

We watched the orchestra play the soundtrack to the Chamber of Secrets. They were amazing!! The ushers were very polite in helping us find our seats. Coffee was $3 but to drink inside I had to buy a souvenir cup for $5. The coffee was okay.
