Everything was perfect with the exception of a few...

Everything was perfect with the exception of a few things...the beach was so full of seaweed and smelled so bad it filled the lobby. It needs to be maintained like the other beaches nearby! There was also trash in the seaweed collecting at the shore. The menu in the room claimed 24 hr room service and they did not answer the phone. Nor did front desk. That s a huge no-no in my book...I purchased parasailing and the next day the people from the Watersports dept called to tell me they can t do it because there was low tide and the current was too strong. Well, if he had waited a while to call me and cancel he would ve seen that would ve changed quickly! It was scheduled for 6pm and he called at 11am. I recommend doing ALL of your Watersports at Robbies 10 mins up the road! It was way cheaper and they were quick with accommodations! Service was great too! Now the good.... the room is ah-mazing! If you want relaxing/romantic/family fun this is it. It s to die for. The oceanfront room is the way to go! The free activities are a steal! We went kayaking and we got to pass by the home where the tv show bloodline was filmed which was super cool. The restaurant food was good it wasn t 5 star good but still better than average and service was great. Housekeeping is thorough. Room was VERY clean. I should know, I used to be a housekeeper. I peep everything. I would highly recommend. Cheeca if you could work on those few things I noted above this place would be 5 stars hands down. Thank you for a lovely birthday getaway! It was truly paradise!

The place is a tropical paradise!!!! When you enter the property, you feel as though you have entered into some kind of tropical oasis...The grounds(landscaping) are impeccably maintained. We originally checked into a deluxe room overlooking the family pool and it was very nice...After the first couple days we decided to upgrade to a premier oceanfront suite and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! The service we got was outstanding...The staff was there to assist in anything we wanted or needed. The place is on the pricier side but, you get what you pay for and we definitely got our monies worth at the Cheeca....We are already planning our next trip there. For the sushi lovers out there...The in house sushi bar is outstanding!!!!

This is a total gem! I am already planning my return. For Florida residents they offer a discount! This resort with a spa offers everything you need or want to have a wonderful relaxing stay or activities galore if that s what you are seeking.
The beach: 1,200 feet of private beach
Activities: included in the resort fee kayaking, peddle boat, paddle boat, fishing, golf, tennis, game room, pools, corn hole, bikes, volley ball, etc.
Rooms: we had two rooms, 1 two-bedroom and 1 king suite. Both resort view. Each has a kitchenette that is truly helpful to supplement eating out. The rooms have a screened lanai that is amazing, I ve never seen it in a Florida hotel before. Our room didn t have a working phone nor a working safe but we were ok with it. The grounds are beautiful with lush trees and greenery making your walking around feel very tropical.
Dining: the food is ok, nothing spectacular and at times underwhelming. Example: Atlantic Edge breakfast 2 eggs with black forest ham, potatoes and toast for $18. Not a bad price but the ham was actually 2 pieces of Canadian bacon. Mia Cucina was average at best. In-room dining was fair.
Service: excellent
Opportunities for Improvement:
1) the bed and pillows were very hard. I wanted to have some spa services but knowing I had to go back to a bed with pillows like steel held me back. If they can improve the sleeping experience this would be a 5!
2) only one of the two pools near the beach are heated. This made everyone crowd around the heated pool so seating was a challenge. Both pools should be heated!!! I didn t try the adult only pool.
3) the property is very dated and needs some Updates.

This place is full of roaches beware. The prices at their restaurant is very high not justified. The shower was clogged and all in all not a good experience for $450 a night. When finally met with the manager Stuart he was very rude and even try to do something.

Great place to stay. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Lush landscaping, and an adult only pool, also a pool shallow for children.
Very nice atmosphere.
Masks are mandatory when walking around, everyone complied. We all felt very safe. Sanitizing continually.

A beautiful property which is entirely mismanaged....

A beautiful property which is entirely mismanaged. First, when the valet steals money AND the change TRAY. It's one thing to steal some quarters but it's a whole other thing when you steal a part of someone's car!. DO NOT allow the valets to park your car at this property. Next. The Tiki Bar area has live entertainment which we all agreed was very good. But the seating area was too small to comfortably seat even a 5 person group. The couple of tables available were crammed right up against the bar area. Don't try to find comfortable seating on the lovely beach area because the management, for some odd reason, store the cushions away leaving hard uncomfortable loungers. Third. In the hunt for a comfortable place to sit with our drinks, our group of 5 landed at the Sushi restaurant on the property. I ordered the Omakase. 50% of what was brought was inedible, meaning fishy and suspect. I ended up asking the chef to stop sending any more sushi. Our "suite" was anything but a suite (advertised as being able to house 6 people.) The tub was on the outside of the balcony with a curtain that wrapped all around. Cute for a photo op but impractical for a 6 person suite. The shower was inside with a view to the outdoor tub but the shower did not have a shower curtain. So, when taking a shower nobody else can come in to use the sink or toilet unless they want a full frontal of the person in the shower. This is NOT a room that could comfortably fit 6 people as advertised. The cost of the room was very high but we all thought it would be worth it based on the pictures of the property. Our experience with the room configuration, dining, management, and overall experience was poor. I have yet to be contacted by management about the theft of my friends car part. Islamorada is beautiful but I will be looking for an alternate place to stay next time.

Always a great place... but his time the people in the room next to us kept the music loud until almost 2 a.m. Two calls to the front desk and no answer.. eventually an answer and security quieted them down after 2 visits. Asked for a late check out since we couldn't sleep. Denied. We weren't asked how our stay was upon check out, so hence the review. Still 4 stars. Great place to stay in Islamorada and it's no picnic running a business during Covid 19. Definitely will return with hopes of more quiet neighbors.

It's a nice resort. The room was clean and cozy. The reception and personal were very welcoming. But you can't enter the ocean from the beach. So if you like sea swimming it will be a bit challenging.

Spent our honeymoon here and decided to return 5 years later. Was about to give it two stars until I just got a knock at the door surprising us with a bottle of champagne as an anniversary present. Housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. Upon first entering our suite, found a dirty maintenance rag on the countertop. Burnt out lightbulbs. When asked to be replaced, they left the old bulb EXACTLY where the dirty cloth was one day earlier. Terrace is inundated with ants. Used to be 5 star, now it is clearly a 3 pushing 4. Grounds are still gorgeous and staff friendly and courteous. They now cater to family environment and the pomp and circumstance is a thing of the past. I agree with the members, I miss the old days!

The last storm they experienced in islamorada took a toll on the lower keys and cheeca had some major damage but the area is coming back to it's beauty. My family had a great time the kids were outside all day instead of on their tablet and the Boss my wife enjoyed her yoga and spa. All very pleased.

Sometimes you will be disappointed. A luxury resort of the special class, clearly getting old, with listless staff and uncharmanten extensions. 7 years ago, the atmosphere was still tingling and the service first class is now set to mass instead of class. With consistently demanding prices. A construction fence that promises a new pool for several months destroys the picturesque backdrop of the beach. The pool at the sea side is until 9.00 o'clock !! closed and the beach due to its length actually not worth mentioning ..... somehow we had imagined otherwise. Too bad.

Cheeca stands out by far as a luxury resort and spa. It is beyond belief what the team has pulled together there after the total devastation of hurricane Irma just a while ago. We've visited a handful of times in the past few years and always want to come back. The whole place has a vibrant atmosphere. The detailing that goes into making the place glow is impressive. I really could go on and on, but I'll give my favorite highlights here:
1. First entry. The entryway was always nice and welcoming, but the work they've done to it since we last came really introduces you to the experience you're about to have. Stylish and modern, with very artful touches.
2. Beachside breakfast buffet. Great service, great food selection and a seriously unbeatable view. For breakfast!
3. View of the place from the water. It honestly looks more gorgeous than ever, and I hear it's only going to get better.

Everything from booking on the phone to checking out was great.
Great hotel and amazing staff and management. We had an issue with our ac in one room and they moved us quickly and really took care of us . The rooms are really nice and clean. Food is great. Beautiful property. They were also really kind to our service animal.
Highly recommended, the pictures I saw online didnt do it justice and I didnt book, I actually booked another hotel down the street that was terrible, ended up here and loved it .
Gladys was amazing at booking, front desk staff was great today. Ismaal and Moh were amazing at dinner he even brought me a cold towel.
I never write reviews but really felt they deserved this.

If I could, I would give Cheeca Lodge & Spa 0 out ...

If I could, I would give Cheeca Lodge & Spa 0 out of 5 stars for the absolute worst experience of my life. On June 25-June 27, 2015, I stayed at Cheeca Lodge & Spa, reserving the best available room, an ocean-front suite for my wedding weekend. I was immediately disappointed when I woke up the day of my wedding to find the air conditioner was broken. The temperature in the Florida Keys surpassed 90 degrees and so did my hotel room. I had already arranged for the bridal party to get ready in my hotel room so by 9:00 in the morning, the hair, makeup artist, and photographer were all arriving, as was the bridal party.

The room was so incredibly hot that myriad of my photographs were ruined or not taken at all. The hair and makeup team also had to spend time re-doing each of our hair and makeup, including the brides.

Completely unsatisfied, we contacted the front desk. Over a half an hour later, a technician finally arrived who turned the air conditioner off and then back on, saying it should then work after this. It did not. Unsatisfied, we again contacted the front desk, this time asking for a manager, who sent the same technician to our room. The technician arrived and looked around for approximately 2 minutes, and left without fixing anything. We called the manager again, demanding a resolution. This time, a different technician arrived who removed the filter. The filter was completely filthy and he even chuckled saying, well ladies, this looks like the problem . Unfortunately by this time, it was already time for the bridal party to leave for the ceremony.

Needless to say, I am completely unsatisfied with the way Cheeca Lodge & Spa s staff handled this situation. The room was simply unusable but since I had already paid, the staff seemed unconcerned in resolving the issue, even after being contacted several times. Not once did the staff offer to move our room and even a request to bring fans, was not allotted. My wedding photographs cannot be replaced, nor can the stress and embarrassment experienced on my wedding day. I would never stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

My husband (a disabled veteran suffering from severe emphysema) and I booked a Beach Bungalow here at Cheeca Lodge & Spa a month in advance online. We previously had a great experience here and wanted a repeat to celebrate our 30th anniversary and his 59th birthday and we were looking forward to a relaxing weekend together. After driving 6 hours in traffic and rain when it usually would take us 2 hours from our home, we arrived to discover they did not have our reservation correct and did not have the Beach Bungalow reserved. When we brought this to their attention, the manager handled this poorly. They could have at least attempted to show us the best option they had to encourage us to stay,as we wanted to leave, however, they were quick to get rid of us instead. We were disappointed that a 5 star hotel of this kind would have such bad service. The impression they didn't care to save our anniversary/birthday weekend and it ruined our entire weekend to say the least. I will not go back or recommend staying here in the future. Don't waste your time - the service has declined!!

The Cheeca Lodge is an amazing place!!! The rooms are spacious, the staff is extremely friendly, and the grounds are very well kept. This is not the type of place that just lives on their reputation like some hotels. The management and staff really care about your stay. I would like to especially compliment the facilities staff. The manager, Alexis, and his staff ( Trevor Daniel Chris and Justin) made every effort to accommodate us during our stay. Due to wind conditions, the adult pool was very overcrowded. Unfortunately we were not able to get a seat due to ppl marking their territory at 730am and then leaving for three hours. However, after mentioning our problem to management they made room for us and were very considerate the rest of the day. This was my second stay and I will definitely be back for a third! Everyone is created equal here --and you leave very happy!!

Although the resort was beautiful, you'd think that during this covid-19 crisis, the room could've been actually cleaned. Instead we found dried toothpaste and lipstick stains on the counters, white splotches of I don't know what on the couches and a missing curtain for the balcony. I'm not usually the one to complain or anything like that but it even took us having to report a missing curtain twice for them to do something about it. Over all, I do love the place, its a beautiful location and great views but the cleanliness of the place could've been better as well as the attentiveness of the staff.

Place is top notch and the service is incredible! Will be back soon!

The steak I ordered when i stayed two months ago was supposed to be well done and it was rare that three times that it was returned back to me and service terrible. plus now after two months I m getting charged in my account $500 and they told me that that was my bank am making a mistake of overcharging me and when I speak to the claims department of telling me that they were making transactions of three different amounts from the night prior from a hotel that I have not been in over two months they try to charge my bank account for one charge of $1011 then Another transaction for 750 and the last one 500 which the bank approved for them to charge my account. The front desk manager was supposed to call me back to re-clarify the charges and it s been approximately four hours and no call back yet they are very irresponsible and liars. Be careful with your cards at this hotel .

My wife and I spent 5 days at Cheeca to celebrate our 4th anniversary and could not have been happier. When we walked arrived, we were greeted by a friendly bell staff. Check in was smoothe. The grounds are very well kept as are the rooms. Unfortunately, the new pool and tiki bar were still under construciton, but when it is open it looks like it will be an awesome spot. It is a little challenging to get in and out of the ocean depending where you are set up. My biggest issue is all of the smoking that goes on. There was nothing worse at night to be sitting at the tiki bar and be down wind from several smokers. Other than that, zero complaints! The location of the resort is really great. You are very close to several local spots if you do decide to go off site. It is even better since Cheeca offers a free shuttle service within 2 miles of the resort. We would definitely go back!

Cheeca lodge, is a wonderful location and place , unfortunately due to Covid they had not got back into their groove, they had less staff and additional fees in place for less services. We received no housekeeping, and had to use our own sanitizer , but were billed daily for Covid - it was much looked like gauging. On check out everything seemed fine then more charges appeared on my Credit Card over the next few days - Overall be ware they clearly need more staff and less additional charges - the resort fee should cover all of these charges

We've stayed here 3 times in the past couple of years and up until this trip it was the best place to stay on the Keys. We understand that Irma was a disaster but opening rooms that aren't finished is unacceptable for any hotel chain, especially a 4 star hotel that boosts about being luxurious. There was absolutely no warning on their website that they were still repairing from Irma. Just that they were adding their new beachside pool. It would be great information to display for your customers. When we first arrived the staff greeted us kindly as we went to check in. Once we checked in the person running the front desk was so monotone and didn't explain any part of the lodge or the amenities as expected when you check into a hotel. When we got to our room we noticed that the rain showerhead wasn't even in our shower and when turned it on it just had a stream of water come out of the ceiling. We asked to get this fixed, they came looked at it, told us they would go talk to someone about fixing it and never came back. Very disappointing because that is one of the reasons we chose the room that we did. There was no Wi-Fi or phone or room service which is still advertised everywhere throughout the hotel and we were never informed about the lack of service. It wouldn't have been such a bad experience if the staff didn't talk their way out of fixing the issues at hand. When we brought the shower up again to the staff she said she'd look into it but it wouldn't do US much good. If you can't provide all the services and amenities that you advertise you shouldn't be opening. Very bad business model. And we weren't the only guests with issues. Other guest at the bar told us they didn't have hot water in their room. Another informed us that a room had their light switched plastered over and stuck on a while back. We really loved this place but the sour taste of this visit has made it very off putting. We were planning to stay their Sunday and Monday night when we got back from the dry Tortugas but it looks like we will be staying else where.

At the Cheeca Lodge & Spa you do not get what you pay for. The rooms are small, absolutely everything is overpriced especially food. The Golf course is junky. The docks are decent. Many Mangrove Snapper are under it. While I was here I went to Long Key bridge and came back with a keeper Black Grouper ,Mutton Snappers, and some mangroves. Since we were on vacation we decided to have the Black Grouper cooked in the restaurant. They charged my dad and I 75$ for our Grouper that we already filleted. The manager then claimed it was for 3 people but it was only 2 of us. They generously took 10 measly dollars off the bill. Do not spend your money on their bait if you go fishing on their dock. Its 10$ for a pack of shrimp which you get for 5$ across the street which is still a little pricy. The awful thing is that the brand of shrimp Cheeca Lodge sells is the same one in the store across the street. Good service is rather minimal. A small portion of the employees are nice. It may have a tropical feeling to it but all of it seems a little fake.

Stopped by to check the place out on our way back from Key West. Beautiful place. We stayed and had lunch. Service was exceptional as was the food and drink. My only complaint about the place is that although they are right on the water, they do not have an actual beach. You have to climb over some treacherous rocks to access the water.

Great location with a variety of amenities. It was great to wake up and have our coffee watching the sunrise. The shore has seaweed but getting the kayak and going offshore solve our problem. The water was warm, clear, and shallow. The yoga class in the morning is amazing!
Excellent geographical location and great variety of entertainment. Having coffee in the morning watching the sunrise was an unforgettable experience. Despite having algae on the shore of the beach, if you take a kayak and go out to sea a little, you can walk in clean and warm water. The yoga class in the morning is fantastic!

I was so looking forward to our get away at Cheeca and I have to say I m disappointed in the experience. We stayed in a bungalow room (car port below the room) and the car port was completely flooded when we got there so had to dodge a pool of water to get to the steps to our room. The neighbors old room service stayed on the steps for most of the day so that was also difficult to dodge trying to get our luggage up the stairs and going in and out of the room. The main issue is there is zero sound proofing in the bungalows so we heard everything and I mean everything going on in the rooms beside us from people partying until 5am to disgusting bathroom noises sleep was limited. We were fortunate to get the Florida resident discount rate on the room which was nice but in order to get the discount rate on everything else you had to remember to show a card. I m mean for a 4 star resort just apply the discount rate to everything on the bill at check out...it s not that difficult and would make for an overall better customer experience. On the positive side, the food (although pricey) amenities and service were really enjoyable. We probably won t come again but if we do, we definitely wont stay in a bungalow.

Just arrived and we are ready to leave. Nowhere near the quality of a truly exclusive or premium brand property. Badly stained carpets and tattered furniture in the rooms. They charge a $39 per day resort fee yet the kids club is $75 per child per day. Most other activities cost extra as well. Considering the price, the rooms should be in better condition and more services included. Honestly, we had a better experience at a Hilton on Marco island before driving to the keys. The front desk and management staff were mediocre at best in dealing with getting us the room we booked.
