I was pretty a grown-up in July 2008 when for the first time i did the banana rides in Saint Brelade as a group leader of young people but i really enjoyed myself.
Howerver, mind of don't drop down into deep water, you could lose all bodily feeling if it's your first time in the english channel sea.

Went on one of their trips out on an inflatable on the back of a speed boat, with my wife and 12 year old daughter.
There was also another inflatable attached to the boat too.
As we got on, they changed drivers, from an older chap who appeared quite sensible, to a younger chap.
We were wearing life vests, and rugby scrum caps, so I didn't expect things to get too rocky.

So, just before setting off there was a "safety briefing" which consisted of the man say "tap on your head to slow down and thumbs down to stop" then we were off.

At the start it was pretty good, then the speed Increased and then came the silly manoeuvres at high speed, which in turn sent our inflatable crashing into the other one attached - just inches away from hitting heads with each other.
This happened again and again then the speed increased even more. At this point my daughter was quite scared, so shouted at the man to slow down, which he did.... for around 15 seconds then the same again.
He was then told again to slow down, which he eventually did when I spoke up and told him to stop doing this.

We were by no means under the illusion these kinds of rides don't throw you around, but did not expect the dangerous manoeuvres that could have resulted in serious injury, nor did we expect to be ignored when told to slow down.

So be aware, these cowboys are an accident waiting to happen. They don't listen when you tell them to slow down and just like to show off that they can drive a boat fast - set of spanners!

I would have quite happily got off in the middle of the sea and swam back if I were on my own. Stupid, infantile and dangerous.

We made a booking for 4 persons for the ride with the sofa and we got there in time but the staff sent 4 other people to the boat before us, so there was not enough space for 4 of us. At least we got a refond but we don't know why we've been asked for our name for the reservation when they don't check it in the end if there are the right people going with the boat.

Went with these guys on one of their trips, My wife struggled to climb aboard with no help from the organisers - they could have bought the boat closer as she is not very tall, and then I too struggled for the same reason - and I heard the whispered laugh - another one. If my wife and son (who was given a too small life jacket) hadn't already been on board I would have walked away - specialists in humiliating their guests.

Took an early morning speedboat tour around the island with the family, we all loved it! Both of the guides were cool as hell & knew a lot about Jersey. Will be rebooking for the kayaking when we're back again next month

We got kayaking with cave exploring. Best day of my life and my wife's and my 7 year old daughter's. Jumping off cliffs, swimming in little lakes in rocks, narrow passages to swim with kayak. Great way not to spend time but to live adventure. I hope we will be back.

The BEST crew to look after you in Jersey. Chester heads his impressive team, each skilled in the activity you want to do. The office at Brelades and surf shack at St Ouens are immaculate, well stocked and run. 11 year old Josh wore his own wettie when I took him for a paddleboarding session (he surfs but mainly flat in summer so wanted to give it a go!) His fave was coasteering adventures setting off in a RIB. The instructors were great and all the equipment looks new and fits well (helmet, life jacket). We are waiting for the wind to pick up to try blowkarting on Tues/Thurs at St Ouen. If the surfs flat and you and the kids want to do something active and fun - go do it and support local. If you are visiting - DEFINITELY do it - you will have the time of your life.

Adam our guide for our kayak trip was very helpful, full of useful information, competent and made the trip most enjoyable. To fully enjoy the trip you need to be fit as it's not for everyone as we found out hubby was physically unable to kayak and a full refund was given no quibbles.
