Chateau on the Park Review

Not up to Hilton standard. Toilet needs 3 flushes. Despite status poor room.

Had a function in one of the private rooms.
The food was cold and they couldn't be bothered putting together a vegan meal even though we gave advance notice, so my son had a falafel burger with no bun just the Pattie as they didn't want to buy a four pack of normal supermarket burger buns that are dairy free especially for him. Three others had burgers so the buns would have been used anyway. The broioch buns they use are too sweet for burgers anyway and ruined the taste of the savoury meal. Our bill came well over $1,000 so they should have made a little effort for the vegan. Not impressed.

Good location and average service. No one was there to help with luggage upstairs.

Booking in over the phone took 13min and a lot of unnecessary questions.

We had a very comfortable 2 night stay. The WiFi disconnected more often than I liked but not a big deal. Breakfast buffet was very nice and the service was very friendly. You're just across the road from a beautiful park and Botanic Gardens and a short walk to an amazing variety of international foods.

Building and room standards are cool but service is not really clever. Tried to contact the hotel before my arrival with som requests but did not get any answer. Food in the bar was perfectly made. Breakfast is under average Hilton. Coffee not drinkable. Nice with the option for a $4 guest laundry.

Good food in pleasant surroundings. Service was a bit slow, although it can be hard getting the balance between rushing a meal and giving dinners time to talk.

Here for a conference and the whole thing has been amazing. The staff were super friendly, the venue was beautiful and the room was very comfortable (plus any time you can give directions to someone as "across the moat" deserves two thumbs up in my book)

A very beautiful hotel with average rooms. Unfortunately I was too tired to explore much so I can only base this on service and room service food. Check in was fine but not that friendly. The food was mediocre. The sandwich I got was too salty for me to eat.

Oh yeah and I selected a room on the app and was given something completely different. I also mobile requested a beer to be delivered to my room and that didn t happen either. Not sure what the disconnect was between the app and the hotel.

Friendly staffs waiting for you at the front door with warm cookies. So nice and cozy hotel.

I sent a care package to a friend who was staying in isolation. They decided to give it to the wrong person (who had my first name, not the addressee odd the package)! Who then ate all the food, and took the rest of the belongings. After several phone calls they did nothing, and just let the other person take it all

As always very good. A lovely meal in a great venue. The staff very friendly and the service efficient.

Absoulety amazing gardens. If you're going to the garden city for the gardens staying here is a must

Retro architecture. A bit chilly due to single glazing. Coffee is not great should use local roast. Decaf coffee was awful . Rooms are nice enough. Restaurant is old fashioned but service is good.

bedroom was clean and was equiped with free continuous wifi throughout the whole hotel. electrical sockets near the bed to charge devices is a plus. Breakfast offers a generous choice of mueslis and vegetarian options. fruits are fresh and taste delicious. the staff didn't seem to be working under any form of stress and remained available to answer questions about their hotel and its surroundings.

Great food service and pricing in very pleasant environment. Best Sunday Lunch.

This is a great place to stay while I'm Christchurch! Our room wasn't ready when we arrived (after the approved check in time) so they treated us to a free drink from the bar and a cookie. How could I be mad with that haha. The room was spacious and clean, the AC was nice and cool. The views over he grounds were very acceptable. Over all a nice stay. A+++

I attended a conference here and this place is fantastic. Has a nice unique heritage feel to it.

So close to the airport, we used the Chateau as our overnighter before heading to the snow fields. The rooms are big, clean and well outfitted in a beautiful building with a ton of character. Absolutely lovely hotel staff greeted us with warm cookies at our 11:30pm check in. It was a really nice touch after coming from an international flight.

I m completely in love with this hotel. The atmosphere is amazing as well as the furniture, rooms and common areas. Restaurant staff may seem grumpy at times...

Well to be honest not up to the Hilton standards. The pool isn't functional everything else is just average not exceptional given the Hilton reputation.

We stayed for 7 nights recently and were amazed at the amenities and the service. Our room was comfortable and big enough for 2 people although an additional chair would have been helpful. The staff were exceptional-courteous, friendly, always ready to help or chat. The restaurant staff-managers, receptionists, waitresses, chefs, were the best I have ever seen. Everyone was friendly, nothing was too much trouble, they remembered our various likes (no dislikes as there was nothing to dislike), and the food was outstanding. They must have a very top rated chef. Service was quick. I would certainly really like to go back again and enjoy the exceptional service.

Nice Hotel,but sadly there are not enough washing and drying machines in the laundryroom.

Chill, quiet, clean. Has a nice touch to it. Kinda feels American kinda Chateau.
Reception service is slow, but helpful.

Nice old style hotel , a bit far from the city center , the house keeping they are so loud they keep banging stuff around , even if u have DND bright sign outside ur room door still didn't make a different .

It is a good place to stay in Christchurch with family. Nice building as well.

Clean room, nice staff, lovely grounds with a courtyard garden, patio, and lawn. The bed was moderately comfortable. It's a bit far from the restaurants but you can walk through the park to get downtown in 30 min. A bit pricey for what you get but a decent choice when visiting Christchurch. Would probably stay here again.

Nice as far as hotels go, but overall felt dated and wifi was meh (very big deal for me since I don't use data while international).

My wife and I would like to thank front office manager Ms Cecilia Zhong for her friendly assistance during our recent stay at this lovely hotel. We found our car battery was dead the morning of our departure and she went above and beyond the call of duty to help us out. Thank you Cecilia. I would recommend this hotel to anyone - lovely gardens, nice pool, great restaurant, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room.

Ideally placed for central Christchurch,but good access to the airport and the rest of South Island.

Its arrsort like feel. I love the room the bed the bathroom is spotless with nuve shower. Friendly staff

The service, food atmosphere is just great. It is my go to choice never disappointed.

The length of time before dessert arrived I did ask for mine earlier due to having to pick up grandson I wasn't sure if the waitress understand .We arrived at 11.45 and dessert hadn't arrived at 1.30 so I had to leave. The main meal was delicious .

Tired. Hated the large meeting room with the twin fireplaces.

Staying here at the moment, unfortunately we were not offered a welcome cookie as advertised so we cannot comment on how delicious it possibly was. We have a view of the carpark but when down stairs in the restaurant the view of the garden is pretty, the bed is big and comfy, rooms are warm but more for business people I think than holiday makers. Directly across from the park and botanical gardens and about 30 minutes brisk walk into Christchurch. Food in the restaurant was awesome highly recommend the roast ! Chef knows what he is doing when it comes to taste that's for sure. Pleasant service staff wise in the restaurant and bar, will defo stay again and hopefully might get a cookie next time.

Good room, lovely building with garden and pool. Great position 20 mins walk through the park to centre of town.

Often at the Chateau for ANZ workshops. Their establishment has always catered very well and staff are very helpful. Parking is ample and close proximity to the city and arguably Christchurch's largest Westfield shopping mall.

My husband and I stayed here two separate times and really enjoyed our stays. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the hotel could use a little updating, it just feels a bit...old. The rooms are spacious but nothing elaborate or over the top. The grounds itself are beautiful located across from the park and central to just about everything in Christchurch. We arrived here sadly after the mass shooting and everyone made sure the guests were comfortable and felt safe. We like the hotel bar, it's small and quiet, but Jade made really good drinks! We will definitely stay here next time we're in town!

Great location, nice and quiet. Friendly staff. Enjoyed the Den Bar for an evening drink and the bar food was good.
