Went for MRI and the staff was efficient, kind and thorough. Also the staff member at Radiology records I called today was fantastic!! I needed to order copies of the images and reports for the last 18 months. It was a lot. She was very kind and friendly. She's preparing them for me so I can just go and pick them up soon. Thank you!!

I recently had a surgical procedure at Centerpoint and received excellent care. The doctors were knowledgeable and sensitive to my needs, informing me fully each step of the way. The nurses were experienced and careful to avoid any mishaps. Each staff member took a special interest in my needs. I have been there twice in the last year, and each time the people I came in contact were very capable and friendly. I think the care I received was excellent.

I was there about a little over a week ago for extreme neck and back tightness. The nurses there were awesome. Anytime I needed help with something I would press the nurses call button on the remote and they would answer in a timely matter. The doctors, therapists and the spine surgeon I talked to who explained the surgery to me if I needed it were all awesome as well. I really enjoyed my stay at Centerpoint, thank you.

Had a breast biopsy done. Registration was fast and amazing. Check in was pretty good, not a long wait at all. The nurse and doctor I had was top notch. I wish I could remember their names because I cannot say enough good about them. They calmed my nerves during the procedure. Overall a great job done all around.

but 8 hrs later, still no doctor. The staff has been pleasant, but unless I page the nurse I never see her. They haven't let me know anything that's happening. I didn't even know I was getting a ct until they were taking me there. I live within walking distance of this hospital, but I won't be back

Always rude from er staff to just getting lab work done. Have never had a good experience. My uncle was rushed here after having a stroke-they told his children to pull the plug because he would probably not wake up. Minutes from signing the paper work, he came to

Dr. Ballard is great. The nursing staff was fantastic. My complaint is with the check in process. I was told I needed to pay over $3500 up front. It would have been really nice if someone had told me that before hand & also when I checked out I was given defective Teds hose.

Review your Bill - No matter how many times you provide them your insurance information, billing processing is 99% wrong. To make matters worst - they do not call you when the bill isn't paid - it gets processed to collections and your credit file. I must add the "United Imaging Consultants" billing staff are completely incompetent and do not allow you to state your case. I had to obtain a lawyer to fight their inability to bill my insurance correctly.

Emergency room put me in a room with two people who were on IV drip who had flu symptoms. Not a good experience from that standpoint. My wife who accompanied me came down with the flu a few days later. I know that the emergency room area needs to expand but whoever thought of this plan was obviously short sighted or ill informed.

Sitting here with my wife who is in the ER because she is nauseous. Because she is a heart transplant patient , she has ITP and a type 1 diabetic for 25+ yrs and her sugs have been running high we thought DKA. The Doc said she doesn't have DKA it might be a stomach bug. But she doesn't have a high white blood count. So all he can come up with he just suspects it the stomach bug but he has nothing to base it off of???? Lol I asked for a better diagnosis and all he or the nurses could say was well try to get a hold of your primary. The point of this review is save your time and go to a hospital that is willing to help not just push you through by just guessing!!!

I guess theres a good reason they call it killerpoint. I came in today with severe pain in my ears neck and throat. A nurse practitioner saw me in the er. I was given an antibiotic prescription and was told it would rake 48 hrs to kick in. Nothing for the pain. I left in the same tears as I came. I would have gladly take a two day pain med but got nothing. I called them after I left to see if there was some other place I could go and I was told I will get a call. My social was also read aloud. They are breaking a huge privacy violation. Guess I will deal with the pain. Tylenol or advil isnt touching this pain and they were made aware of it. Not everyone has a problem with pain meds, shouldnt be treated as such and thats how they made me feel. I will never seek this place for help again. I will continue to pursue a stop to their negligence.

Its now saturday the next afternoon, was not called back by anyone. I called to talk to somone and I got hung up by Michelle in the er. I just can't believe a hospital would treat someone this way. Im in worse pain today and im doing everything they said. This hospital is trash. I feel very violated angry and still in severe pain. If I had only known I would have gladly gone elsewhere.

Don't know where to begin. One dr almost allegedly paralyzed my. Sent to the ER and lived. They stopped offering pain meds 2+ months later as no I am missing a large portion of spine! To top it of the dr has one low grade, worse than Truman 2* imo... Sad hospital as of lately , they just can't find good drs See dr Hancock profile for instance, truly terrible

My experience with Centerpoint Medical Center was...

My experience with Centerpoint Medical Center was great with one exception. Kristi, the nurse that got me ready for my procedure, was delightful. She kept me laughing and I can get through anything if I can laugh. The nurses in ER and Dr.. Pachalla were great as well. The nurses that took care of me after my procedure were friendly and supportive. They really seemed to care about me and meeting my needs. The one exception was the nurse I had on the last day I was there. It was Mandy (not sure of the spelling). I don't know if I said or did something or if she was having a bad or if she is like that all of the time but she didn't seem to care and seemed inconvenience. I was left in my room for three hours alone. I did have to use the restroom a lot. If she checked on me, she never once said a word to me. If I was in the bathroom, I would have expected at least a "Mrs. Barnes, I am just checking in. Is everything okay? Do you need anything? But there was nothing. I was told I would be going home by late morning or early afternoon. The morning was busy with 6 to 8 people stopping by for an echo-cardiogram, to fill me in on the opportunity for cardiac rehab, Dr. Pachalla's nurse practitioner giving me status, another doctor that I don't remember, the case supervisor and that's all I remember. When 3:30 rolled around and I hadn't been released, I pressed the call button. I asked Mandy if I was being released and that I had expected to sign something and to know the results of the echo-cardiogram. She said something like, "I have your papers and I looked at the echo-cardiogram and it looked normal. At that point, she did bring the papers in for me to sign and went over my medications with me. When I asked if she would remove the pressure dressing on my arm, she seemed annoyed as well as when I asked about removing the IV. She was as gentle as she could be, I guess, but she didn't say one word to me and walked out of the room. Fortunately, there was an aide with her who cleaned up my arms for me and gave me the option of riding out or walking. I chose walking since I am a fairly active person and had been lying in bed for two days. The aide was a delight but I can't remember her name for the life of me. I know this is long winded but my hope is that she doesn't treat all of her patients that way. Bertha handed off to LaWanda and LaWanda handed off to Mandy. There was another nurse with Bertha who was also very nice but I don't remember her name. My only issue was with Mandy.

HCA (Hospital Corp. of America) has one of the worst food cafeterias in existence. My wife has an ongoing condition that usually requires a 4-6 day stay on a periodic basis. The food both for the patients and the loved ones who eat on site because they need to stay close at hand is al,most criminal. In the last 2-3 years it has gotten worse and not better. Just because you have contracted the service out does not excuse you from negligence.

I just recently had our son at Centerpoint. I did not search for a hospital when it came to labor and delivery, rather yet I searched for the right OBGYN for myself. I love my OBGYN, Dr. Michelle Lemberger. She is located within centerpoint, and while we were in labor and delivery, the entire staff I had was very helpful and encouraging. I had several nurses throughout the day, evening and overnight shifts, and all of them were exceptional!! Their names are Jessica, Melissa and Danielle. Beyond making sure I didn't need for anything, they were also very caring of our son, and also making sure that lactation consultants etc were available for me. If you have the chance to meet with an OBGYN affiliated with centerpoint, I would highly recommend.

Went to the ER for abdominal pain. Check-in/out was efficient (that's the only reason for the 2nd star) but one of the men working in the blood draw station gave me something for my nausea and just said, "This MAY cause SOME EUPHORIA," when instead he should have said, "This will probably make you as high as a freaking kite." I couldn't even walk, much less advocate for myself AND I was hallucinating! All I wanted to do is ensure I wasnt dying immediately and get some T3 to keep me from crying in pain until a GI doctor's office opened on Monday (this happened on a Friday night). (In case you were wondering, I did not get any pain medication whatsoever and will apparently be in pain the entire weekend or longer if the GI can't fit me in Monday.) I can't even remember most of what was said or what happened that night. Big thumbs down.

Well I went for an allergic reaction. I was sent in to have a ct scan pretty quickly and they told us we should have our results back in 30 mins. We were cramped in a small waiting room where there wasn't even enough room for everybody to sit, people getting health history or iv's put in had no privacy. We sat in that room for 4 hours until we were called back, when we were supposed to only be there for 30 mins. Then we sat on a stretcher in the middle of the
hallway for 20 mins. Then finally a doctor comes over, Taps me on the chest a couple times with a stethoscope, takes my pulse and tells me to open my mouth. He says my results are normal. 4 and a half hours to do something that should've taken 15 minutes. I would definitely not recommend this hospital.

Update:
My brother went to centerpoint he had hurt his knee and went to get it check out. They did an x-ray and said there may possibly be a problem but no surgery would be involved. A few days later we went to children's mercy because he was getting worse. He was there for a little while with people CONSTANTLY checking on him that was such a good change from centerpoint. They soon rushed him into the OR for emergency surgery on his knee. Then later he had to have ANOTHER surgery to clean the knee out more. Thanks centerpoint for saying that surgery wouldn't be needed and that there "might" be a problem. But if you have children GO TO CHILDRENS MERCY they will treat you so well and make sure you are actually okay and take care of the problem

Will not go back to this hospital about killed me then blamed it on reaction to medication. Then a surgeon used medication I was supposed to be allergic to during a port placement for chemotherapy from KU CANCER CENTER. So that is why I decided not to go back someone covering their back, more important than how patient is treated in the future there and all other places because I never told other doctors but they had information about it at my next visit.

After he waited for over an hour he decided to leave since his chest pain wasn t as bad but still present and the staff their said they didn t know he was even their to be seen. Are you kidding me this place has went down hill fast over the years. No one knows what they are doing anymore or give a wrong diagnosis. Very unprofessional and something needs to be done about it. So I kept going to centerpoint for my abdominal pain because it's closer to home. However this last time my doctor sent me after hours to the emergency room! She was worried that I could have pancreatitis. Centerpoint would not do anything for me at all they gave me fluids and nausea medicine and that's it. I did overreact a bit and tried to leave with the iv in my arm because I was so mad about the nurse practitioner thinking that I was lying and faking. I left centerpoint and went to st Mary's where thankfully I decided to go instead of listening to centerpoint and believing it was nothing! St Mary's diagnosed me with me actually having pancreatitis and ended up having to do a hospital stay because of how bad it was! I guess I have learned my lesson it's time to stop going there if they are not going to cooperate and do everything possible to figure out the problem! I would not go here and I most definitely not bring anyone here who has a serious problem!

It is clear that the staff at Centerpoint is doing all they can to ensure not only great care of out-patients, but diligence in confirming that expectations were met after-the-fact. I can heartily recommend this team of professionals for not only day-of-treatment quality care, but also world-class customer care post-procedure.

Wish I could give this hospital 0 stars, but I guess a 1 star review will do. Took my wife to the ER on Saturday morning because she had an extremely high temp. The ER did a great job figuring out what the issue was. Was told she needed to have something done in order to fix everything. They said they were going to do it that afternoon. They weren't able to do it that afternoon. We were told that they were going to do it in the morning so she couldn't eat. Then it got pushed until afternoon. Then it got pushed until 9 PM. Then it got pushed to the next morning. Finally was able to eat after 30 hours of bull crap. Next morning comes and nurses tell us that they don't think they can do it at this hospital so might need to be transferred. This hospital is nothing but a joke.

People don't bring your loved ones here for any type of phychiatric emergencies I say this from personal experience for instance awhile back ago I overdosed on sleep meds on the way to the hospital they immediately put me an a seclusion room which is worser than a jail cell people think about it this way is like the room where they execute inmates in the trauma unit nurses treat you like trash if you try to get out they lock you down in the room and have to wait for a psch nurse from research to speak with you and their ill send you to reasearch or some other hospital while they had me secluded the doctor ask me if I was suicidal I said yes then the doctor replied you don't say stuff like that an ER rooms that's like saying bomb in an airport like really their their there to help you and you tell them how you feel and to them is something bad so people don't bring your loved ones here not for mental emergencies

First time here and I am not impressed. My daughter was brought in via ambulance. We were made to sit in the front lobby and then taken to a waiting room with a dozen other patients. My daughter was in obvious pain and she was made to sit in a wheel chair for the next several hours. There were also several other elderly patients in the same situation. I wad told they only move critically ill or injured patients into rooms. I was not happy in how they came out and said first and last names of patients nor how it was announced who was having what procedure done. I am certain this has to be some kind of hippaa violation.

Family member had surgery with 3 surgeon specialty, surgical error/life threatening complication was made which can happen so now instead of 1 large incisions she has 3. Not one surgeon took the time to visit with family. We have gone from 3 day stay to more likely 10-14 days.... doctors come in all throughout the day, but this evening a women comes in the room doesn't introduce herself starts yelling at the patient, is aggressive with her exam.... I couldn't be more disappointed in the care ... the goal is to get stable and get the hell out of here.... I know some patients need encouragement through pain to keep progressing and I believe there is a way to say anything but this women went to far! I have left message with ethics office, official report/grievance will be filed... when the charge nurse knows who your talking about based on behavior things need to changed!

I had heard all the bad stories about Centerpoint Hospital, but assumed the surgery I had in Sept.2016 was a procedure that they had been doing for quiet awhile and The Independence Womens clinic was very good.My mistake, two ureters damaged and a nicked bladder. They released me from the hospital with low uop and no urinalysis. After two calls to my Doctor I finally was sent for a test but they (Centerpoint) could not get ahold of my insurance to verify so was sent home.I had the test the next day. When the damage was discovered I was sent to a urologist with St.Lukes(not HCA).He sent me back to Centerpoint for an outpatient procedure(Nephrostomy). When I arrived they told me I had a $500 copay,I told her I have no copay on outpatient she said on this one you do,I ended up staying overnight(more money for them),they planned all along to keep me even before I was checked in.I ended up at KU Hospital 3 months later having a 7 hour reconstructive surgery. When they mess you up,you and your insurance pay to fix it.I will never place myself under their care again.

I literally came to the hospital in excruciating back pain and a knee brace. I couldn't even stand up straight and you can clearly see I am in pain. No one showed any concern or even tried to help. Took my info told me to take a seat. Did not try to help me or anything. After 2 hours I am still in the waiting room unable to sit up and in pain. While I watch ppl I came in before go ahead of me. Last Mother's Day I was experiencing pain that kept me from standing up straight or sitting or even lying down comfortably enough to be still and had no idea what could be causing it. After getting abhorrent "care" at St Mary's ED I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy and transferred to Centerpoint by ambulance. I went immediately into emergency surgery at 0200, which was performed by Dr Carpino. She was very upbeat and caring and knowledgeable and did a fantastic job on the surgery.
What impressed me the most was the nursing staff though. The recovery nurse I had sat with me when I woke up and got my pain under control-which was no small feat since I had already been on pain management and it was breaking through that. She was so understanding even though I was pretty hysterical since we had been trying to get pregnant for 6 years and the nurses on the Mother Baby unit were the best!
This hospital has impressed me so much that I will be having my baby here in a couple of months. I felt safe going back to Dr Carpinos office and even though I was unable to get her as my OB, I love Dr Soendker and her nurse. I had one issue with her nurses communication, which I brought to her attention and it was corrected by the next day.

I already hate going to the er and this was definitely the worst experience ever. I was having flu like symptoms and they keep you in the waiting room while waiting for swab results. I went to a nurse and complained about feeling like i was going to pass out that i needed somewhere to lay down for him to just put me back in the hallway. I waited a hour and still no results but couldn't sit up any longer for me having to discharge without any results. Worst hospital ever.

I took my husband to centerpoint. He was having a stroke, he couldn't swallow. They never did give him an IV the 3 days he was there. He is also a heart patient. They kept telling him it wasn't a stroke, so he is flipping out thinking it is something worse. The 3rd days they finally said it was a stroke. I picked up a bad staph infection there. 4 days out of this hospital he has a double ear infection, dehydrated really bad, strep throat and staph bad enough they are talking about taking his arm. Then never did any of the therapy they said they were going to do. Now I know why so many people are calling it the morgue. I will never take anyone to centerpoint EVER again!!

I had a hiatal hernia repair done at CenterPoint and had to stay overnight. I had no pain from the surgery itself. Surprise! During my overnight stay, I was given fluids, I suppose to get my fluid level back on track. I then had to use the restroom every 2 hours or so and couldn't get up by myself, so had to call a nurse who assisted me to the bathroom. So, every 2 hours the nurse had to come and help me use the restroom. I didn't hear one complaint! That impressed me!

I was recently stabbed in the neck and this place saved my life. The trauma staff, surgens, the nurses and doctors in the ICU and also up in my room when I was recovering were amazing. I was dealing with a lot of trauma and was scared and several of the nurses were absolutely comforting and amazing. There was one nurse in particular named page. She went above and beyond her duty to make sure I was okay and helped me through some of the toughest nights I've ever experienced . Thank you. The only negative was that my sheets weren't changed daily anytime I wanted a new gown or anything due to being sweaty I had to ask. And the shower was disgusting . But that doesn't compare to how well I was treated and cared for.

I have known many people throughout the years who ...

I have known many people throughout the years who have had the misfortune of using Centerpoint for their medical care. One of them, a few years back, was pulled out of anesthesia so quickly that he had a stroke. At the age of 27. A stroke that caused him over a year of rehabilitation for walking, speaking, etc. On top of that he acquired infection after infection from what I can only imagine as horribly improper sanitation procedures. This is only one situation out of many, but yesterday our family had its own experience to add to the list.
My mother has been complaining of chest pain, fatigue, and some other symptoms for a while now. She has had many tests; EKG's, bloodwork, CAT scans, etc. Never does she receive information in a timely manner; it's usually weeks before she gets a call back (you know the phrase 'no news is good news'? NOT WITH THEM). After receiving a C scan and waiting on the results, she finally got a call yesterday that she needed to rush to the ER to be admitted for a Pulmonary Embolism. After she was admitted, they informed her that it was an old clot, and they would give her one treatment then send her home. The rest of her treatments will be over the next few months, to be administered herself, checking in with the doctor periodically. This hospital has case after case of gross negligence, and I honestly fear for my mother's life if she continues to use their twisted version of medical care. Please reconsider before coming here for any treatment (save for Maternity care, sounds like they might actually be good at that). We are looking into a second opinion for my Mom, and can hopefully convince her to NEVER come here again.
*6/28/17 UPDATE*
After leaving this review, the hospital staff called my mother to discuss my comments. As I left no names in my review, I assume that they looked up her client profile to research the situation. Seems pretty shifty and unprofessional. I can understand HR calling her for a care survey, but questioning her about her daughter's Google review?? Weird..

just came home yesterday from 2nd total knee replacement at centerpoint. 1st of all let me congraduate massive improvment on food. was actually edible as opposed to Oct of 2017 when only thing that you could eat was cream o wheat. Kuddo's. first my daughter overheard surgical nurse say in a sarcasstic manner to another staff member in preop that I was an hour late for surgery,(not nice and also wrong). I spent over an hour & with long line of people to check in front office, with only one semi competent very slow person at desk. The staff (except one nurses aid) on floor were amazingly sweet, friendly and attentive. The one was on 2nd nite 8/22/18 there. not blatently rude, she just made it obvious she really didnt want to be there or assist fall risk patient that was not allowed to even get up to bathroom without help. She made ME feel bad to ask for help. Others were Great! I had unusually painful almost frightingly painful time getting till leg cleared the edge of bed, didnt seem like they understood this because it would stop emediatly after I cleared edge of bed. But when I got home and my adult daughter was helping me get settled, she was horrified by massive large dark bruise high on back side of my leg. Not in area of surgery....where did it come from and why did they not say anything. this was deffinatly cause of bad pain scooting to edge of bed trying to get up & down. also my daughter very upset that in 3 days there I still had on same gown, bed never changed, and i had to ask daughter to help get me soap and cloth to at least wash my face & brush my teeth befor leaving hospital. Remember I was not allowed up without assist. I really didnt want to ask these ladies..i know they are busy...but my daughter was very upset by this. Again all but two of staff were proffesional and very friendly. But they all may need refresher courses in PHYSICAL patient care when required. this is new review 8/24/18

This visit i was treated like a human being. I think because I had insurance. The first time I went to the ER with no insurance, I was told by Dr. and the nurse that I should've gon to Truman because they help people like me.
