So went to the emergency room with my 4 month old daughter at 3 in the morning 2 days ago. It was actually pleasent and fast. But now I'm not sure they really checked my daughter as well as they should have. I took her because she was inconsolable. She refused a bottle which is so not like her. She was having mucus in her eyes, runny nose, cough. No fever but still I worried so into the emergency room we went . They diagnosed her with virus upper respitory told me to suction her nose and keep it clean. I was concerned she had an ear infection had the Dr check and he told me no infection and they sent me on my way. The next day ( yesterday) I took her to the pediatrician to follow up, she was still so uncomfortable. Dr Harris found that she had a horrible infection in her left ear. I feel as though I was rushed out and they really didnt take the time to see the ear infection, just assumed that it was a virus . my daughter should of been treated with antibiotics and instead had to wait a whole day for treatment. When your children are sick you want them to feel better and to get the best care possible.

I was in the E.R. this morning. Wait time was next to nothing. Dr. Phan and Cortney took excellent care of me. I work in health care myself, so I know what excellent care is. From the time I checked in to the time I checked out, a very good experience. I wish I could renremem the names of everyone involved in my care. All were kind and thoughtful, and made me feel safe at a very anxious time.

If I could give it a negative star I would. I will drive to Timbuktu before I will EVER take someone back up here. After the insurance company paid well over $100K, released with no diagnosis. Referral paperwork not sent over and then hung up on by CHARGE NURSE when trying to work out referral. DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE GO TO ST. LUKES DOWNTOWN!!!

I had to have a preop EGD and chose the Consultants in Gastroenterology group from the list of In Network providers to perform this test. They scheduled me for the test at Centerpoint.
It took over a month to get in, and now I'm finding that they upcharged what should have been an outpatient procedure as an outpatient surgery, and in total have billed my insurance over $11000 (including $9000 to the hospital, $700 for the pathologist, and $700 for the GI doc) and are attempting to squeeze another $400 out of me. This is MORE THAN DOUBLE what Gastrointestinal Associates in Overland Park charges for the EXACT SAME THING, and coworkers with the same insurance have not had to pay them more than $150.
Buyer beware.

Got to Centerpoint around 745pm with lower abdominal pain it is now 1200am and still haven't been seen by a dr, in alot of pain now have a migraine. They made sure that they got my insurance info for payment and I'm sure I will have a large bill just for walking in the door and them taking blood and piss. They are more concerned with making changes to the building and redecorating bit the care of the people that pay for it has dropped to way below standards. The waiting room is small and cramped, the triage area had so many people in it and there is no privacy I felt like I was going to catch something. I liked the fact there is a hospital close to my home nut I will drive to lees summit from now on. This place sucks.

I had a procedure with Dr Carpino in October 2015. Every person I came into contact with during my outpatient stay was pleasant. The staff was professional, knowledgeable and fun. They made an unpleasant test tolerable. I even received a note from my nurse, in the mail, letting me know that I could contact her if I needed anything. They went the extra mile to take good care of me and my family. Thank You

my experience here was very unpleasant. staff were rude and not very helpful. ER services were mediocre at best. i was in car a accident and center point was literally 5 minutes away, only to be let down. my advice would be getting seen at St.Lukes or TMC. center point medical center is a bit low class.

Kind of weird--I was placed in a room with another patient, kind of a privacy concern. I had to remind the nurse to restart the iv after I came back from getting a CT scan. It always bothers me to see a nurse practitioner or paramedic instead of an actual doctor. Biggest complaint is that they used a provider who was NOT in network for my insurance, which resulted in $1200 bill for something that could have been under $100--they should have made sure that all providers were in network, especially since I was there plenty long enough for them to find an in network provider, and the reason I was there was not highly specialized or life threatening. Staff were professional and courteous.

0 stars!!! Shoved in back corner for 2 days because "the surgeon would not be in until Monday"! I don't think they realized the severity of my injuries. They actually told me I could go home on Friday night with A CRUTCH and come back Monday. My pelvis was completely shattered and required 20 pins and plates. Had I gone home or put weight on it it could have done irreversible damage. They forgot I was there for those 2 days in the ER and rarely came in to check on me only unless my family tracked them down for pain meds. It was the most awful 6 days of my life!!! 9 months later I'm still not right and my pain is acute and constant.

3 yrs ago i visited the ER 2 times in 24 hours and was still told the same thing and sent home. Went to Tmc er next 4hrs later and was rushed to surgery for an endoscopic pregnancy and informed had i waited any longer I could have died. Visited lastnight due to strep and was told It was negative and that it was probably drainage from allergies and sent home. Visited tmc er at 6am and strep test was positive and i was put on an iv for steroids and antibiotics to speed up the process since i am 28wks pregnant. Centerpoint has improved greatly, but i think if more staff took there time, instead of rushing there would be more accurate results.

Do not have your baby at this hospital. They treated me terribly. My level of pain was not taken seriously by the nurses and they left me alone for hours after being induced. I kept calling the nurse and they could care less. I work for a large IT healthcare company and they wrote down Medicaid on my paperwork for insurance, even though I gave them my insurance card. My race shouldn t matter, but it did. After I had my baby, I was still having severe cramps. I was told to walk, even though I couldn t walk or sit comfortably. It took three nurses for one to finally take me serious enough to get a doctor. This was my first hospital experience and the worst experience ever.

My wife delivered our baby girl at Centerpoint Medical Center (my wife is a longtime patient of Dr. Ash - a truly extraordinary doctor, not to mention a wonderful person) after 36 hours of labor and a C-section. Overall, the nursing staff was outstanding in their support and education. They truly went above and beyond to assure the highest level of care possible and my wife and I are exceptionally grateful. A special thank you to Jennie, Heather, Janet, Angela, Elena, Althera and Christen (ask her about her famous modified DUDU wrap). Love you gals!

The nurses and technicians on the 4th floor made my visit more tolerable. Carmen and Haylei were the best with Summer close behind. Who wants to ever go to the hospital? With these women taking care of you, you will get better sooner than later. Even Kelli the phlebotomist made giving blood more bearable. Thank you for taking such good care of me and getting me healthy again.

I was very upset to find out I was given the wrong information from a recent (6/13) visit to the ER. I went in with severe pain in my right side and after running a few test and a CT Scan, was told there was nothing there and was sent home. I had a Dr appt today and found out I have 2 hernias. The report from the scan even says I have them. So who is at fault for giving me the wrong information? The nurse that checked me out even said and I quote there was no finding of a hernia . I am very disappointed in the way I was shuffled out of there.

I had a 7:30 a.m. appointment and by 8:20 had not been called. When I questioned the reception desk about how much longer because I was going to be late to work, they discovered I'd been forgotten and contacted Mammo dept. right away taking me back immediately. Staff apologized. Once I got back for my mammogram, it was a good experience.

My father came in with a traumatic brain injury on June 1st from a roll over accident. He was in icu, i won t say i don t like this hospital because they helped him a lot and he s still here so they did their job but, there was only few staff members who were friendly to me. A week later they sent my dad to a ltac to help him with rebilitation and get him off the vent. Well, when he got there they checked over his body to check his injuries and they found raw spots on his inter legs from not being cleaned properly and sitting in filth, a deeeep bed sore on his elbow from his cast. I m a little upset mainly because multiple nurses told me they were bathing his at night after they sedated him... not so sure that was the case and I m looking into seeing what can be done because there is no excuse for that!!

Might i remind you, i only talked to a doctor one time his whole week stay and the nurses knew no information when i asked!!

The ER was good. Was seen fast. The nurse were great at responding to my needs. But when I was discharged I had some issues. First off, the doctor never came to see me before I left to give me a diagnosis. Secondly, the doctor wrote a script for a medicine 2 pharmacies had never heard of. When the pharmacies tried to call the doctor, he didn't return phone calls. This was for anti -seizure meds, so it was pretty important. we ended up having to go back to the hospital the next day and have someone in the ER find the doctor to rewrite the prescription.

We started our cancer journey on April 13, 2017. ENT Dr. Walls found/removed the tumor. We were introduced to Dr. Shaeffer & Dr. Karim. From the time we walked through the doors we've been blessed. The entire staff are loving. Melody, Valerie, Madison. All the nurses in radiation and chemo. Thank God everyday for all his blessings. We have been blessed with a wonderful healthcare team! Don't forget Brooke my speech therapist & my primary care Doctor Arey. We are forever grateful.

I visited the radiology department at Center Point Medical and was very please with the service and employees there! Upon arriving to Registration, I was greeted right as I walked in with a friendly employee and completed the process within 10 mins. While in Radiology, I was assisted by Sam (who was AMAZING), her co workers and Dr Jewel. All were professional and thorough. I would highly recommend the tream in Radiology at Center Point!

My name is Jo Beighley,

My name is Jo Beighley,
I brought my son to his appointment for surgery on 7/3/2017 at 7:30 in the morning. Signed in at the desk, paid the copay and were taken back to be checked in at pre-op. My son is 25 and Autistic. There was a nurse at in the pre-op area that noticed that Andrew was autistic and asked if I needed to go back with him to prepare for the operation. For that, i was grateful. the first thing that was done was weigh him. keep in mind he was there for Gastric shelve surgery. He weighed 531 lbs. He was then taken to the pre-op room. He was put in to a gown and had several other vitals taken. He was introduced to several others that would be taking care of him that day. the anesthesiologist cam in and explained his part. Everything was "charted". There was also some training going on as the was a nurse observing. Several minutes later the nurse said we are just waiting for the Doctor. Several minutes after that the Doctor came in and said "We can not do the surgery today" "the table has a weight limit of 490lbs. This was very upsetting. I understand that the surgery cannot be done because of the weight limit. My issue is, this never should have gotten pasted the weigh in when he was first checked in. The staff should know the restrictions of the equipment. The Doctor should know where the patient was in his weight loss before the day of the surgery. This is a hard process for any person to go through, let alone an autistic person. Very dissatisfied with the way things happened. Much to my regret, we will still be using Center Point for his surgery. His Autism doesn't allow for change easily. I just pray there will be a great improvement in the care he will receive.

Most horrible experience ever. Taken from ambulance bay to a hallway. Waited there for a couple of hours to be stayed. Then back to the hallway. Never was in a room, never saw a nurse or doctor. Begged for any kind of pain relief. Finally after several hours I was taken to an office (looked like a closet), told my foot/ankle was not showing a break at this time and released. Never will I go back nor will I recommend this facility. I will refuse if in an ambulance again.

In May I had surgery under the care of Dr. Nosti. He provides his service through another hospital in Kansas as well a Centerpoint.
Before the surgery date Centerpoint's pre registration called and took all necessary information and gave me instructions of what to do and not, for 3 days before.
On the morning of the surgery I arrived through the entrance area as instructed and the person at the desk instructed me to go to the admitting desk, that only took 3 min, long enough to put bracelets on my wrist. She then directed me to the surgury area... No sooner did I sit down and they came for me. All this took approximately 10 min.
This is how my entire experience was. On scheduled, Excellent care, exceptional Nurses, a Dr. who was patient in answering all my questions and not making me feel as though he was in a hurry to go someplace else and Good Food.!!
I couldn't be happier with the care I received at Centerpoint.
Independence... We are blessed to have this hospital in our community.

Had an operation there after breaking neck in a car accident. My surgeon was changed 3 times without my knowledge never got to meet them until I requested due to the fact of my surgery being extremely important. Was not given
A catheter (even though I was on bed rest?) until my mom requested one. I was in a neck brace that was apparently too small. Didn t know until the day of surgery (3 days into my visit) when the surgeon said so and all of the nurses started looking crazy. One nurse repeatedly kept missing my dosages and when confronted by my mom said she had a crazy patient she was dealing with across the hall. Very unprofessional. After all the money spent on my weeks stay and surgery it was overall the worst experience ever.

I spent 17 days at Centerpoint. My twins were born early so they were in the NICU for 16 days. Everyone we worked with was amazing. Our standard of care was above standard. We were super impressed by the staff and their commitment to care, confidentiality and professionalism. They made you feel like one of the family. From the lunch room workers and cleaning staff to the nurses and doctors, everyone always had a smile on their face and said hello. They remembered me when often I didn't remember them! We are lucky to now be part of the NICU alumne!

So my little sister(4 years old) came in from school with a fever and after about 10 hours+ they figured out that she had phenomena. We have been here a few times before they actually could figure out what was actually causing the problems.

After sitting at the hospital literally all day, they decided that we would need to be transferred to another hospital (children's mercy). They wouldn't let us drive her ourselves and made her go in an ambulance to the second hospital...alone. Needless to say...if your looking for a way to traumatized a child.....this is it.

was there five days and it was literally the worst hospital service I have ever received. I was placed in the wrong neck brace for days before my surgery. didn't know until my surgeon came in and told nurses to change it the day before my surgery. nurses constantly brought in the wrong medicine even rinsing it down the sink in front my parents. the nurses ignored me, even letting me miss my medicine at times and one blamed it on "crazy patient". if I could have gave zero stars I would have, everything was horrible but surgery went good. I broke my neck &was on bed rest but my mom had to ask for a catheter for me. after nurses gave her a bed pan knowing I shouldn't have been putting any pressure on my neck..if you can avoid going here please do!!

I have just gone through monograms, sonograms and a breast biopsy for cancer. Unfortunately, I do have a mialignant tumor, but everyone at Centerpoint was kind and caring from the start. And all of the staff was very knowledgeable and knew what they were doing and I felt safe and secure. One of their staff that discusses in detail how to prepare for and what happens during the biopsy, spent a lot of time talking with me when I started crying and was very upset. Her kindness will never be forgotten. I don't have any family and few friends for support so, the kindness of the staff at Centerpoint was so greatly appreciated. And the work that they are doing at the "Sarah Cannon" study there is so important to try and start pre-diagnosing breast cancer with other markers than just monograms. It's women helping women. I have been referred to a woman Onologist and a woman Surgeon to continue my course of treatment. You know one out of eight women get breast cancer. I hope this helps some other woman that is frightened and scared. The staff at Centerpoint will help you through it! Debbie Robers, "Hopefully a Breast Cancer Survivor"!

Once you get past the ER care and admitted inpatient to telemetry, PCU or ICU, the care you recieve is very professional and compassionate. Very friendly and excellent bedside manners. Some of the ER staff needs additional training for "being nice" when tending to patients in their department. Also should lose the pompous and arrogant attitudes. Other than the ER department, my experience has been very good.

I just wanted to say that I've only lived in independence about a year and half. I had to go to centerpoint twice now. Once for kidney stones. And I just got home from my gallbladder surgery where it I rated. The hospital was very good. The staff was all lovely concerned and best of all sanitary. I know everyone has an opinion about certain hospitals. I do myself. That being said after my gallbladder burst and then having to remove it. Everything went smoothly. I have a rare heart condition a d they made sure everything checked out before surgery.
So I just wanted to post how great the staff is there and the way they handle themselves and thanks to anyone who works there. Thanks

This is the poorest patient care one can possibly ...

This is the poorest patient care one can possibly imagine. Worst emergency room set up ever. The lady that checked me in asked for my ssn# in front of everyone in the waiting area, and when I lowered my voice and answered her, she loudly repeated it back to me. Thanks for that. I was immediately asked to take a urine sample and place it on a table, which is no big deal, except you carry the urine in front of no less than 30 people and they all look at you with disgust. (I would do the same thing). You're given an IV no matter what and then seated in theater type seating, around all the other people that are incredibly ill. (I was there for pain, but figure I will have the flu soon after being around so many people.) They then have one nurse go from patient to patient and ask their (somewhat personal) questions of medical history, again, in front of everyone. After sitting in agony for 2 hours, they took me back to a room where a nurse walked in and addressed me by a name that is not mine and read me "my" symptoms. Every time I tried to tell her I wasn't who she thought I was, she continued to speak over me. She read off someone else's entire patient history before I was able to tell her she was in the wrong room. She didn't say a single word after that and walked out. No apology, no asking me who I was, nothing. HIPPA would be so proud. 20 minutes later a Dr came in and rattled something off, completely ignoring what I was telling him. After he left, a nurse came in and asked me what was going on. When I told him the Dr had already been there and left, he looked confused and walked out. He came back a few minutes later and acted like nothing had happened and told me he needed to do his own assessment. That's fine, except he gave me a completely different diagnosis than the Dr did. I think the icing on the cake is when they discharged me, as I was leaving, I asked them if they would like to remove my IV or if I should just pull it out myself. Overall, 0/10. Your operation should be shut down and your ER remodeled for privacy, as I had absolutely none for the 3 hours I was there. I know the entire history of the 5 people seated around me, including height, weight, sexual history, family history and medical history. And to the girl that they thought I was, I hope you get better soon. I know EVERYTHING about you, and you can thank Centerpoint for telling me every little detail of your personal history. You're all a joke.

Worst ER ever, definitely wont be back. Came in for horrible back pain that was causing headaches and nausea. The only thing they actually got rid of was the nausea and sent me home. Didnt even take care or look at the reason I was actually here for. Then had the nerve to put in my discharge papers that if I had any of the these symptoms, which were the exact symptoms I came in for to come back to the er. So even though i was already there for said symptoms and they did nothing, im suppose to watch for my exact symptoms and come back the er. Dumbest thing I've heard

My son-in-law was admitted to the hospital on April 7 and passed away on April 25. The family had no idea he was this sick and we were totally unprepared. The nursing staff, hospital doctor and oncologist went above and beyond the call of duty to keep him comfortable, to respond to family needs and to seemingly put him before other patients. As he slipped into comfort care for the last few hours, we could not have asked for more "Hospice-Like" treatment. My daughter was fed by the nurses when she couldn't get away for food. A visitor's bed and recliner were brought in to the room so loved ones could stay around the clock. While losing him was one of the worst tragedies ever to happen to us, the care he received at Centerpoint was filled with compassion and excellent medical attention. The nurses on his floor sent my daughter a sympathy card and the 7p-7a nurse stayed over her shift at the time of passing. Thank you all who were a part of our loss.
