We always wanted to go there being that we've always seen the sign from the highway or passing through. Finally got to go there for Elmo's birthday. The article of the event posted on the AJC was really misleading as far as in leading us to believe that maybe someone in an Elmo suit would be there for pics or someone operating an Elmo puppet. But other than that, there were donuts and a bouncy house. My son enjoyed it. I loved the puppets and seeing some of the exhibits from old and new favorite stop-motion and puppet shows/movies. Not an all lost. The website does say show up 30 mins early prior to getting tickets but FYI, they won't let you in until they officially open. I think it's more of trying to get a decent space and parking (Parking is very limited.) But you will be standing there waiting because they won't let you in early. (we arrived 30 mins early) Staff is super nice and friendly. Facility was pretty well kept and clean (other than the creaking floors you can hear underneath and while walking.) Old building, perhaps? Overall, great place for kids and adults. Next time we will catch a show!

I love Jim Henson and the Muppets. The Center for Puppetry Arts shows the history of the Muppets plus puppets from around the world. You can see how they made the original muppets and even see movies and live puppet performances. This museum is really fun for everyone.

Nice!

An amazing place if you have any interest in puppetry. The Jim Henson wing is the largest of its kind and has incredible artifacts from his early career through Sesame Street, the Muppets, Labyrinth, and The Dark Crystal. The rest of the center is equally amazing with rotating special exhibits.

Such a unique place! My son has loved every performance we've gone to (and enjoys creating his own puppets) and we're fortunate to have this organization here in Atlanta. The membership is so well worth it!

Wife and I came here for date-day. $12.50 each to get in, well worth the experience. See all the Muppets and puppets from Jim Henson and his incredible team of artists and many puppets from around the world! Mind expanding experience!

What a fabulous experience! I took my 7-year-old to Click Clack Moo and he was enthralled the whole performance. I thought it might be too young for him but he loved watching the puppeteers and set changes. He was so excited to make his own cow puppet after the show, too! We visited the museum afterward where he was most interested in the stop-motion exhibit. Absolutely worth a visit!

We went for the first time today. The Beauty and the beast show was so we'll put together. We really enjoyed the museum. Especially the Jim Henson section with all of my childhood favs from sesame Street to labyrinth. The Dark Crystal special exhibit was so interesting as well as the chance to build your own puppet.

Took my college age son studying performing arts for the guided museum tour featuring extensive Jim Henson collection that lasted 45 minutes. We were the only ones with the guide and had plenty of time to ask all the questions we wanted. We failed the pop Muppet-trivia quiz sprung on us by our guide! But it was very interesting and informative and we enjoyed it. We stayed for 2 hours exploring the rest of the world & history of puppetry exhibits. There was no show that day, but also toured The Labrynth display and watched parts of the movie inside. Interesting to see how they made the props. I doubt I would have enjoyed it had we gone on a busy day full of noisy children since I am moderately hearing impaired, but would have liked to do a puppetry workshop. I was happy to pull into the free parking lot behind the Center and only find 2 other cars there! The displays were very well kept and clean with lots of information posting details in a bright, cheery museum.

Never knew about this place until friends invited us to a puppet play. It was great! Also checked out the museums. The Jim Hansen was awesome! Very talented performers and who would have thought that grown-ups would puppetry!!

Getting to experience Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal exhibition was a great joy! I'm glad we made it in time before it left.

The Center For Puppetry Arts is a gem of a museum curated and run by people who have a love for not only the arts but the craft of puppetry.

Please be sure to support them during this pandemic and to soak in every exhibit they have to offer and by proxy absorb some of the magic created by the puppets we've loved!

Always an immense pleasure to visit. The museum alone is always phenomenal and whenever I have tickets to a show, I make sure to arrive early because you get free museum admission with show tickets. The show's are always top tier, whether made in house or from a travelling artist. One of the greatest injustices of my life is my not having discovered this amazing resource sooner.

The updated facility is great. The museum wing is pretty amazing. Lots of Jim Henson creations and a special exhibitions wing that has puppets from around the globe. It was fun and interesting.

My son and I really enjoyed the Jim Henson Collection. Although we haven't been, they have a lot of sensory friendly shows and cater to individuals with disabilities. They offer workshops, films and plays. It's a great place to bring the kids.

A must see museum...they have many Jim Henson originals! The staff is excellent. We ran into an employee, Dave, who walked us through much of the Henson exhibit. So many neat facts. The Labyrinth display was really cool too!

I heard so many good things about this place and really wanted to enjoy it. But, my experience was far from that of others. First off, they sold off chunks of tickets to schools and there were no additional shows. Then, there was a mean lady at the entrance who said that the museum was at full capacity but we could visit this other room while we wait. This other room was just a tiny nook filled with videos from the world (nothing outstanding). We were done in 5 minutes and when we came back, she still maintained that the museum was full. We visited the upstairs place while we waited and this person with a very supercilious attitude addresses my kid and says that he needs a ticket to there (which we were never told!). I overall thought it was a total waste of time. There were hardly any outstanding exhibits. My son was disappointed that he couldn't see the puppet show and the people had a very bad attitude..
