I was surprised that there seem to be fewer exhibits, especially fewer *interactive* exhibits, than this place had in the early 2000s, but I loved the Jim Henson exhibits.

Very nice museum and my kids love their puppet shows!
We always wanted to go there being that we've always seen the sign from the highway or passing through. Finally got to go there for Elmo's birthday. The article of the event posted on the AJC was really misleading as far as in leading us to believe that maybe someone in an Elmo suit would be there for pics or someone operating an Elmo puppet. But other than that, there were donuts and a bouncy house. My son enjoyed it. I loved the puppets and seeing some of the exhibits from old and new favorite stop-motion and puppet shows/movies. Not an all lost. The website does say show up 30 mins early prior to getting tickets but FYI, they won't let you in until they officially open. I think it's more of trying to get a decent space and parking (Parking is very limited.) But you will be standing there waiting because they won't let you in early. (we arrived 30 mins early) Staff is super nice and friendly. Facility was pretty well kept and clean (other than the creaking floors you can hear underneath and while walking.) Old building, perhaps? Overall, great place for kids and adults. Next time we will catch a show!
I love Jim Henson and the Muppets. The Center for Puppetry Arts shows the history of the Muppets plus puppets from around the world. You can see how they made the original muppets and even see movies and live puppet performances. This museum is really fun for everyone.
Great for anyone who may have an interest in puppets
An amazing place if you have any interest in puppetry. The Jim Henson wing is the largest of its kind and has incredible artifacts from his early career through Sesame Street, the Muppets, Labyrinth, and The Dark Crystal. The rest of the center is equally amazing with rotating special exhibits.
Loved the place, especially the section about Jim Henson's creations.
Amazing museum, awesome shows, and great for all ages.
"Parking is a little tough but the staff was willing to help and guide people."
I loved it!! Getting to see puppets from everthing from Muppets, Tim Burton, MST3K, Labyrinth.. All in one place! It was amazing..
Such a unique place! My son has loved every performance we've gone to (and enjoys creating his own puppets) and we're fortunate to have this organization here in Atlanta. The membership is so well worth it!
My 5 yr olds loved the performance and the museum...and making their own puppet afterwards.
If you are in any way a fan of Jim Henson, The Muppets, the Dark Crystal, or if you grew up watching Sesame Street, this place is definitely worth a visit.
Cool location with lots to look at. The Sesame Street exhibit was interesting.
If you are a fan of Jim Hensen and the art of puppetry then this is for you. This place is magical and makes you feel like a kid.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was a great show. Enjoyed the center when I was a kid, happy to do it all over again with my daughter! Friendly staff, free parking.
So fascinating and full of wonderful history/memorabilia! Definitely worth the visit, we went twice in our 3 day trip to Atlanta.
Wife and I came here for date-day. $12.50 each to get in, well worth the experience. See all the Muppets and puppets from Jim Henson and his incredible team of artists and many puppets from around the world! Mind expanding experience!
Rudolph puppetry show was excellent. Great service provided by friendly staff. Free parking!
Great place for kids! My granddaughter made a puppet in a workshop and we watched a terrific puppet show. Very dedicated people work here!
Really great performers and kind staff! Great place to take your family! A true Atlanta classic! Fun for all ages. Clean building and restrooms.
Such a fun place. Jim henson history. You even learn what he did before Sesame Street. Theres Labyrinth and Dark Crystal memorobilia as well.
Went with a group and had a great experience. They have birthday parties there with full experience for you children.
Very cool. Bigger than I expected and The Dark Crystal exhibit they have (til 9/2019) is worth the price of admission.
What a fabulous experience! I took my 7-year-old to Click Clack Moo and he was enthralled the whole performance. I thought it might be too young for him but he loved watching the puppeteers and set changes. He was so excited to make his own cow puppet after the show, too! We visited the museum afterward where he was most interested in the stop-motion exhibit. Absolutely worth a visit!
Fantastic museum. Great place to see great puppetry shows. Also check out the gift shop.
A quiet space to walk and appreciate a beautiful and modern place in the city of Atlanta. The video shows a brief bus tour, departing from MARTA Arts Station
The museum was awesome!! I have been back on several trips with my family and Alzheimer's clients! Cat in the Hat was Stellar!
Good workshop and an excellent show (Amazon rain forest). Worth every penny!
Blown away by the performance and the museum was amazing.
Me and my son always have fun at the Center for puppetry arts with the shows and the different museums they have.
We went for the first time today. The Beauty and the beast show was so we'll put together. We really enjoyed the museum. Especially the Jim Henson section with all of my childhood favs from sesame Street to labyrinth. The Dark Crystal special exhibit was so interesting as well as the chance to build your own puppet.
Only a two hour attraction outside of the show...and you really need to do the show, which is excellent. Can't wait for future expansions!
A lot of creativity. I enjoyed the show plus at the end they explain how they work to do the story. Fantastic for all ages. + we support our community + r- G
Took my college age son studying performing arts for the guided museum tour featuring extensive Jim Henson collection that lasted 45 minutes. We were the only ones with the guide and had plenty of time to ask all the questions we wanted. We failed the pop Muppet-trivia quiz sprung on us by our guide! But it was very interesting and informative and we enjoyed it. We stayed for 2 hours exploring the rest of the world & history of puppetry exhibits. There was no show that day, but also toured The Labrynth display and watched parts of the movie inside. Interesting to see how they made the props. I doubt I would have enjoyed it had we gone on a busy day full of noisy children since I am moderately hearing impaired, but would have liked to do a puppetry workshop. I was happy to pull into the free parking lot behind the Center and only find 2 other cars there! The displays were very well kept and clean with lots of information posting details in a bright, cheery museum.
Never knew about this place until friends invited us to a puppet play. It was great! Also checked out the museums. The Jim Hansen was awesome! Very talented performers and who would have thought that grown-ups would puppetry!!
Getting to experience Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal exhibition was a great joy! I'm glad we made it in time before it left.
The Center For Puppetry Arts is a gem of a museum curated and run by people who have a love for not only the arts but the craft of puppetry.
Please be sure to support them during this pandemic and to soak in every exhibit they have to offer and by proxy absorb some of the magic created by the puppets we've loved!
Their Muppet exhibit is a must see. I absolutely love this place. Highly recommend.
Cat in the hat was really good. Very well organized.
My family loves this place. In addition to having an excellent Jim Henson collection, they have puppets from all over the world. I only wished we lived closer.
Paul Bunyan was a great show and the best I ve seen here yet. I ve been 4 times now for various events with my daughters. This is an interesting and unique place that is supporting and teaching about this wonderful art. Go!
Our family had so much fun! It was astounding to see beloved Henson creations up close! The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth exhibits brought me to tears! Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Their family series is great, the kids and adults all love it. For such a family-friendly place, could use more kid-friendly elements in some of the museum exhibits.
Terrific place for the inner child to come out and play. Loved it. I'm only sorry I didn't get to make a puppet
Very fascinating to see all the puppets from my childhood and things from other countries. The dark crystal expo was really really cool.
I was here for The Ghastly Deadlies and it is an incredible show. The Center for Puppetry Arts is a wonderful place to both learn and be entertained.
Fun and great for kids, one of the best organizations in Atlanta.
Always an immense pleasure to visit. The museum alone is always phenomenal and whenever I have tickets to a show, I make sure to arrive early because you get free museum admission with show tickets. The show's are always top tier, whether made in house or from a travelling artist. One of the greatest injustices of my life is my not having discovered this amazing resource sooner.
Definitely a cool place to visit, but I wish there was a little more to see. I really enjoyed the history, the tour, and the exhibits. I'd love to go back for a puppet show.
Fantastic exhibits and well worth the money! Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. Can't wait to go again.
It was wonderful to see the puppets I loved growing up
The updated facility is great. The museum wing is pretty amazing. Lots of Jim Henson creations and a special exhibitions wing that has puppets from around the globe. It was fun and interesting.
My son and I really enjoyed the Jim Henson Collection. Although we haven't been, they have a lot of sensory friendly shows and cater to individuals with disabilities. They offer workshops, films and plays. It's a great place to bring the kids.
Love this place! The shows are so well done and the new museum is worth the trip all by itself.
this is a pretty cool experience I went there a saw kids puppet show as a grown adult and it was entertaining. most intriguing part was at the end when they showed us how it was done free interesting and the kids had a great time
Kids love the interactive puppet workshop and the engaging shows
A must see museum...they have many Jim Henson originals! The staff is excellent. We ran into an employee, Dave, who walked us through much of the Henson exhibit. So many neat facts. The Labyrinth display was really cool too!
Absolutely disliked this place. Has got to be the most boring place on earth. You do not get your money's worth.. Do not waiste your money here. McDonald's playground is better than this.
I heard so many good things about this place and really wanted to enjoy it. But, my experience was far from that of others. First off, they sold off chunks of tickets to schools and there were no additional shows. Then, there was a mean lady at the entrance who said that the museum was at full capacity but we could visit this other room while we wait. This other room was just a tiny nook filled with videos from the world (nothing outstanding). We were done in 5 minutes and when we came back, she still maintained that the museum was full. We visited the upstairs place while we waited and this person with a very supercilious attitude addresses my kid and says that he needs a ticket to there (which we were never told!). I overall thought it was a total waste of time. There were hardly any outstanding exhibits. My son was disappointed that he couldn't see the puppet show and the people had a very bad attitude..
best gift shop for fun kid gifts. we visited the tiny door installation that is near the front entrance.
Good building and all. Content is not much for everyone. Good for sesame Street lovers
A local treasure well worth the drive and the productions are not to be missed
Wonderful exhibition of puppets, Dark Crystal, Muppets, The Labyrinth, many international puppets as well
Love it so much!!! Seeing all the Jim Henson creations was so awesome, the Dark crystal puppets were especially cool.
