Was visiting Dallas for a short family vacation and looking for recommendations on good places for trail running, and this preserve was mentioned to me. The trails were very challenging to run, due to the fact that they had several very steep inclines. That being said, it was good training, and beautiful scenery! absolutely worth the trip, and will definitely be coming here again next time I am in the Dallas area.

if you go, I would recommend getting there as close to 6: 30 AM. As possible, as parking fills up quick. I got there at 6:45 and the parking lot was almost full already. By the time I was leaving a couple hours later, there were people circling the parking lot.

Loovveee walking the trails here. Not only is it a great exercise, it is very beautiful. The butterflies are out during the summer and can be found in clusters in different areas. It can be a little crowded sometimes, but its still nice even then.

If you like hiking and you live in the DFW area, this is the place for you. Several miles of well tended trails with some minor elevation changes. It's mostly free (they ask for a 3 dollar donation (which you should give)) and open to the public. Closed Mondays.

There are many trails at cedar ridge nature preserve. Some trails are good for beginners some trails are more for the beauty and the scenery and some trails are for those who want a leg day workout.

Remember to get there early in the morning because the parking fills up especially during the weekend generally by 10 a.m. or so.

Ok, so I'm not much of an outdoorsy person which is why I only gave four stars. However for those who love being one with nature and enjoy a nice challenge this is a great spot for you. The scenery is lovely but there are lots of steep inclines/declines that are not for the meek like me. Also, the paths are clearly beaten and marked but, to me, were a bit misleading because it seemed they kept leading me away from my destination. Sadly I didn't get to see the pond I badly wanted to see. But there will be a next time. Just be prepared when you go(i.e. proper clothing, gear, food, water). I would recommend this beautiful place to anyone.

Great place for family hikes/ outings. Take water with you. Stay away when recently rainy and closed on Mondays. Bathrooms are as expected, metal toilets missing toilet paper and only located at front of trails. Bring your own TP and water just in case.

The nature preserve is excellent the people are not. This is not a city park, it's a nature preserve owned primarily by the Audubon Dallas chapter. It has slowly gotten worse every year as it gets more crowded. People are throwing their trash on the trails or sticking it in the trees. Since it is a nature preserve people should use some common sense and not play their music out loud on the trails so everyone can hear it for a good portion of the trial. I took my 8 year old and several times we passed people that were playing music that was mostly cuss words.

Awesome place to hike...offering some low intensity as well as challenging trails. Enough steep climbs to make it a great place to train for more extreme trails. The parking lot fills up but with all the miles of trails it never feels crowded. Try it

They take such great care of the trails, plenty of trails to choose from anywhere from easy to hard, short or long, dog friendly if on a leash. Great for the while family, picnic tables so you can bring lunch. I love it.
