This place was beautiful and serene! I felt like we were NOWHERE near civilization.
A great place to walk or maybe run if it's not too crowded. Beautiful wildflowers and pretty well removed from city noises. The paths can be a bit narrow though, so you may be dependent on the courtesy of others if you want to get past.
Really great trails with beautiful nature trails to explore the volunteer staff does a great job of trying to maintain the reserve the only thing that keeps it from being better is unfortunately the people there are too many people taking their dogs there and letting them soil the trails and not picking up after them
It's a really enjoyable hike with some awesome views, very close to Dallas so it's convenient. It is however very close to the highway so you never really get away from the noise of it while hiking most of the trails.
Have only been twice and will go a third time tomorrow. After that I will stop due to my fear of snakes. I was literally scared to death during the 45 minute walk. But if you like the outdoors and hiking, this is the perfect spot.
well kept natural park. green trail was a decent work out for a non active person.
The actual wilderness trails in Dallas with ultimate viewing spots!!
I really enjoy this place with my wife, is great to know that near Dallas is a place where you can have more nature.
Love this place !
Great place for a hike. Go early for parking and be prepared for quick elevation changes. They have restrooms at the parking and please don't forget to donate.
So many annoying people on the trails. Don't know why some folks want to blast horrid music from their phone speakers instead of using earbuds. I guess they think their music is "cool" and think everyone else wants to hear it.
Couldn't even hear the birds.
I guess that's what I should have expected with a state park 20 minutes from Dallas. I may as well go hang out at West End station for the same experience.
Super accessible and nicely maintained. The trails themselves are small so proper trail manners is a must. Please don't litter if you come here. Dont bring it if you cant carry it. And while dogs are allowed you have to pick up its droppings. Pics are from one of i think 3 outlook points. There's also benches for rest scattered thought the trails.
Loved it. I've got unfinished business and didn't want to try my luck in pitch black. Although it had my senses and adrenaline heightened
Amazing trails with a pond with turtles, lizards, birds, and lots of stairs and panoramic views.
Great hiking trails! There are trails for different levels of experience!
First time here and it was a nice hiking trails and very scenic
Very well kept trails with good views and challenging terrain for the DFW area.
Very crowded but spacious and lots of trail options.
Beautiful! Easy, quick drive from anywhere in the Metroplex. A variety of hiking difficulties/levels and trails can be combined for a full day of hiking.
Best hiking without leaving Dallas, excellent elevation changes
My favorite hiking place in the DFW! Lots of trails as very green. Some nice scenic spots
If you get there early enough parking is not an issue. Highly recommend.
Very well maintained and extensive wooded trails ranging from easy to moderate hiking. My group was able to do 5.5 miles and only covered part of the trail system. Parking can be a small problem during peak times like early Saturday mornings, but the trails don't feel crowded even then.
I just completed the Cedar Canyon trail which is 1.9 miles. I have come home to crash on my couch and become a couch potato until tomorrow when I do it all over again! Great place to work out...
Beautiful ! And well taken care off, had lots of fun here and is very challenging !
Great trails for family and pets. Small pond for relaxing and great views every where.
Beautiful place! So well maintained, such a good hike!
Very nice hiking trails. I love the shaded areas the best!
Great natural area in south Dallas. Lots of trails. Was extremely busy on a Saturday morning. Prepare yourself appropriately for conditions. Take extra water.
A gem tucked away in the metroplex. There are multiple trails suited for whatever difficulty level you may be looking for. The most difficult trails usually have rewarding water features or ponds tucked along the way to help lift you up. The preserve gets packed quickly, especially on cool days so make sure to arrive early to find parking. Make sure to bring water, snacks, and good shoes.
Finding a parking spot is difficult since there's not a lot parking but the trails are amazing for cardio and a great way to enjoy nature. My best friend and I go as much as we can. We haven't come across any snakes yet since it is a nature preserve. Just make sure to read the warning signs and you'll be fine
If it's rained the day before be prepared for mud. The trails are nice and not too challenging.
Great trails for various hiking levels. Friendly hikers. Scenic.
Great, wide hiking trails and gorgeous spots for breaks and views. Trails are easy enough for 5 yr olds. About a mile to get to the pond, and you can take a different route back for a change of scenery. After big rains, it s best to wear waterproof boots as there can be a lot of mud and some trails will be closed. Very popular on the weekends and with good weather. Beautiful fall colors.
Went very early so it was not too crowded, the trails are challenging and the views are great for still being in the city. Looking forward to coming back.
Cedar Ridge is one of my favorite hiking trails. I always enjoy hiking there. You get a good workout.
A good place if you're looking for a cross country workout, because the wooden root stairs serve as hills as you progress through the trail. I didn't get a chance to run it,but walking it was no easy feat,so im definitely excited about next time!
Side note- i wouldn't go there at sunset because I've seen real creeps walk into the trails so trek by day and you'll be good-even better if you bring a friend.
Did a road trip and did a quick stop here. Its beautiful and breath taking. There are a few places to eat in the area, so i got food and stayed here all day. Im so happy i did. Its relaxing.
Lots of great trails. We came with our two dogs. This place gets a little busier than we usually prefer, but overall it is a great place for a local day hike.
Beautiful trails! Everything is easily marked and there are plenty of options to choose.
Great place to go out and excersice. The people are also very friendly
Awesome place for a hike, jog or run with various markers for different lengths of trail
This is the best hiking trail in north Texas. *Closed on Mondays*
Wonderful trails, lovely people and beautiful views.
We love coming here to take a nice long walk and enjoy mother nature.
Best place to hike and trail run in the DFW area! Incredible volunteers maintain this gem!
Great place to hike! Definitely a place to get your cardio in.
G4EAT PLACE TO STAY IN TOUCH WOTH NATURE WITH IN CITY LIMITS
We really love hiking here. It tends to be pretty busy but it is also a popular place. We take our dogs and most dog owners appear knowledgeable about proper dog handling so that is nice (I have a reactive dog who needs space). My only complaint is I find it hard to find adequate detailed information about the trails. Our first trail I looked up on Alltrails first and thought Cattail pond might be good, I think I confused the loop with the escarpment because hell yeah we were climbing steep slopes and completely dying from it. My husband then thought Fossil valley trail sounded good because fossil and we died even harder on the way back. So, moral of the story, research your trails... Then research them again... We took bluebonnet on our next visit and that was far more enjoyable! Albeit a little muddy, but not bad!
A nice trail that is well maintained.
Will have you coming back for sure , has a butterfly area and the trail has a few good views .Beware of snakes and spiders .On my first day I seen a tarantula and just this sunday a really big snake .
Beautiful to go for a walk only the road is small, and there are many climbs.
A quiet place and healthy environment to walk and relax.
You won't find a better nature preserve or place to hike anywhere in the metroplex. This place is beautiful.
My favorite place for a run. It's always well kept and they change the trails frequently. Really appreciate their hard work.
The hiking trails are awesome out of this world you enjoy your self and very naturie
It's a great place to exercise relax and bring the family. There is a small pond I went and it was a peaceful place 1mile away from the parking lot, with a small gazebo to have like a little break or picnic. Tracks are great with signals everywhere and it's pretty clean. Me and my family really liked it .
This is a beautiful place to get exercise and enjoy nature at the same time!! This place is aewsome!
Great place for a walk and has different hiking level trails
Great spot to hike in DFW. Dogs on-leash only. The preserve is free but donations are encouraged to keep the park running.
Excellent trails that put you back in nature, tree covered dirt trails with moderate to steep hills, love it !!!!!
I can't say enough about this, it's my zen, it's my Purge, a great place to focus on yourself.
Love walking the 10+ miles of trails. They keep up the trails real nice with Mulch in areas that need it, steps in areas where it would be easy to slip and bridges over the creeks. But even with all the work you feel like you are the only one on the trail and really in the woods
First time going on a trail walk it was intense but over loved it....Also make sure you are prepared for sure!!
Great place to get out into nature and take a walk or hike. We bring water and snacks with us. Enjoy the woods, hills, and wild life.
The best of contact with nature and the purest and cleanest oxygen
It was an amazing nature walk with just enough to say it was exercise too
