My daughter was brought to the hospital earlier today with a cough so severe she was nauseated. They checked for strep, said she was clean, told my husband it was probably just a virus and sent her home. I spoke with my mother and discovered that a family member who had been babysitting for us over the holidays was diagnosed today with pertussis, and we were told it was possible for a child to contract pertussis even with a recent vaccine, so he took her back to CMC and requested that they test her as all of her symptoms were consistent with the early stages, minus the distinctive "whooping" sound that, according to everything we've read and been told is not necessarily present in many early cases of the infection. CMC outright refused to test her. The PA apparently went back and debated it with others at the nurses' station and was overheard by the physician on duty who declined to get involved, and decided that even though my daughter's symptoms were consistent they just didn't want to test her because of the absence of the "whoop"...and apparently this PA wasn't sufficiently educated to realize that that particular symptom is by no means present all the time. My husband specifically requested that they test her and they again outright refused. He told them that if her symptoms persist we will take her to a hospital in Rome and request testing, and he asked for documentation which they refused to provide, citing HIPAA. I called and spoke to the supervisor on duty who fully agreed that yes, she should have been tested, particularly since she had been exposed and especially since the parent had requested testing multiple times. She said there was nothing that could be done for me and said she was only concerned about my daughter...yet no one at CMC's ER was concerned enough about my daughter to be thorough in their testing. This is an absolutely HORRIBLE hospital, and no matter how my daughter's case turns out I will be filing complaints. No one at this place really cares anything about patients at all and their policy is obviously to take as little time as possible with anyone who doesn't have private insurance. The PA who refused to do a simple test to help my daughter should be fired.

I was impressed mostly because they stayed on schedule. The nurse brought me back immediately, I waited very little before the next person arrived to get my information, And, then before I knew it I was waking up. I got a phone call afterwards, a card, and now this email. Everyone was so nice, professional and friendly.

I could not be happier with my ER visit here last week. Every staff member we encountered was very respectful and friendly. Wait times were very reasonable. I was able to get a lot of work done including several tests, x ray, breathing treatment all within 4 hours. Does not even compare to Kennestone hospital in Marietta which is where I'm used to going. Highly recommend this hidden gem. May even deliver my baby here. Thank you!

Insurance Scam.. DO NOT LET THE EMERGENCY ROOM KNO...
Insurance Scam.. DO NOT LET THE EMERGENCY ROOM KNOW YOU HAVE INSURANCE!! They will offer you a 87% discount (mentioned multiple times I was sitting there along with an offer for charity services to pay the remaining 13%). Worst case you can check out the bill and see if you want to have it filed after the fact. My bill was $5,569. So 13% would have been $723.97 and they require you pay $0 up front.
Now the insurance side. If your insurance is like mine you'd have a $200 up front fee. They "discounted it" to $160 if you pay up front. There is no discount you just have to pay it later. Ok well insurance paid them $845, and then my portion of it was $1,032.59. Well at least I paid $160 up front so now my bill is $872.59.
So insurance rate for their services = $1,882.96 (66% off list)
Uninsured rate for their services = $723.97 (87% off list)
Never ever let them know you have insurance, far cheaper to take the uninsured rate on something simple. I'd go in uninsured either way and let them re-file after the fact. Wouldn't care but asked for the uninsured rate on what the insurance did not pay and was denied. So here's a hint to the rest of you, make them miss out on the insurance payment as well.

I've had 2 kidney stones in this ER BOTH times I had to sit in excruciating pain for 3-5 hours while patients who came in literal hours after me get treated first. Wouldn't give me anything for the pain.

Everyone was really friendly. This is the second time I've been treated at CMC. If one has to go to the hospital, this is the place to go. A special about out to the lady that have me a follow-up call. She was super friendly.

Something is clearly wrong with my arm. I fell from at least a story high at work the nurse practioner after my x ray results insulted me in front of my wife and kids snapping loudly well it's not broken wat do u want some pain pills... lady I don't give a damn about those pills do some damn work and figure out my situation. during her wat she called was an exam she yanked pulled and turned my injury with so much force I jumped and screamed so damned loud! Ugh then I asked if ALL they could do is X-ray n the er being I have no insurance to acquire follow up care she snapped reluctantly storming past my wife "I guess I'll order a ct scan"!!! Wow!!! The care in his place flat out SUCKS ASS!!! They are inconsiderate and don't give a damn. Maybe it's because I'm black and uninsured damn!!! Trump has empowered u all I see!!! Smh
