If you can avoid it, do not go to ER here unless you are a trauma patient.
Construction everywhere and very hard to park at emergency. We started at 14th in line with a broken collarbone (visibly sticking out) and after an hour and 20 minutes we were 12th. I asked numerous times if we should go to another ER because the wait times on-line were MUCH shorter. The patient care woman said they would just send us back because most could not handle his injury. I called South Park facility and they said they could certainly handle us. We drove 4 miles South and were seen within 5 minutes of arriving and the facility was brand new. This is what is wrong with healthcare delivery.

I spent 25 days hospitalized here. No matter where you go there will be people that don't do their job but my overall experience was really good. The majority of my nurses and doctors were very kind, compassionate, professional and friendly. The overall atmosphere is very clean friendly. As hospitals go, I would definitely take a loved one here for treatment. My only objection is the constant rotation of nurses and doctors makes it hard to really pin point consistent care or allow them to get to know you as a patient.

This is one of the very few places nearby that I actually have a geneticist on site. Adults are sent here in some cases. I already am aware I have hyper mobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome yet this geneticist and this hospital cannot test for vascular. Why is that? Is the geneticist just not trained? Very upset by this.

I had an excellent experience at CMC Main or Atrium Health Main. I had surgery and was in the hospital for three days. The nurses, the CNA s, the techs, even down to the house keepers.....were very attentive and very personable. I have stayed in CMC before and it wasn t a horrible experience, but this experience was definitely better!! A lot has changed and for the better. I had a family member stay with me each night. I thank them for the care they took of my family and I!!

Becaus it's true. CMC Mian sucks and they don't care about their patients. They run their ED like a glorified urgent care for the non insured....even if you are insured. I say if you are private pay or pay your required co-pays on the spot, you would get better enmergency care.... Ppl coming in via ambulance with spinal I juries and they have them waliking around with C-collars non monitored, un checked, ppl with unattended IV bags hanging on hooks while they sit in numbered chairs witing for someone to go over they labs, tests, what have you as paitents are placed in this "holding area" like cattle to slautter for hours and no medical staff around nore gives a damn! I was there 2 weeks ago with my husband. Pissed me off!!! - the hospital, not my husband - okay both, LOL. Needless to say, I filed a complaint as we were waiting and to this day the "appointed administration" flunkee dare thinks she was smoothing me over with "we will look into it". Not! I got a letter saying that my husband did receive the appropriate medical care....BS! As a high risk, cardiac patient, as indicated by the treating MD, he should have been on telemetry and monitored. A holes! Don't take anyone you care about there.
Sadly, these hospitals get to big for their own britches that they forget what got them their reputation, exposure and growth. They get there high-end MDs and pay them millions to be apart of their elete team and charge the patients through the nose, that they are failing at the true patient care; compassion, careing, assertiveness.... This isn't slander, this is what experience I personally.. PERIOD!!

I went to the ER with vision issues, fearing a detached retina. The wait was too long (3+ hrs), but the doctors and nurses were awesome. An ER doctor named Chad worked with an intern and found something that they felt needed a specialist. An appointment was set up with the Retina Institute and within 6 hours of my arrival at the ER, I had completed laser surgery (torn, not detached) and was at home. One week later, I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM CHAD, THE ER DOCTOR checking on my condition!! I was blown away!! I can't say enough for the ER team there and Chad in particular!

this is a great hospital. My father is in the Neurosurgical ICU and they have taken great care of him. The only thing that is frustrating is the women who sit at the locked door, i understand we have to show our badge to go through the door but they act like its such a pain to push the button to let you in. I would like more of a bedside manor since we are there to see our loved one. Going in to see him shouldn't feel like a hassle because of the door guard

Was taken to CMC-Main by EMS for breathing problem...

Was taken to CMC-Main by EMS for breathing problems and a rather severe headache. Was seen promptly, however, had a heart attack while in the ED. Due to no beds available, was taken to CMC-Mercy, where I had a heart cath, which showed 3 arteries blocked. Incidentially, received great care while at CMC-Mercy. After a couple of days, transferred back to CMC-Main, where it was determined that before anything could be done about my heart issue, they first had to address the case of influenza present in my lungs. Was one sick puppy.
Originally, was going to most likely have heart by-pass surgery, but with the influenza and COPD, was determined not to be a good candidate for it. So, other options were discussed, and was decided that angioplasty/stent placement would be my best option. Got a little frustrated with the docs, for one said this, the other one said that....however, it was Dr. Rinaldi who finally decided, I guess, that a stent would be best for me. Once this was decided upon, they explained the entire procedure, risks, ect.....and Dr. Wilson and staff took care of the actual placement of the stent.
Ordinarily, this is a rather common procedure, with few complications, though they do occasionally happen, as was the case with me. Access for the angioplasty/stent was through the groin, same as the heart cath at Mercy had been. Within a few hours after the stent placement, started having some rather intense pain in my right upper thigh, and was taken to Ultrasound, where it was determined that I had a pseudoanuresym (sic) and a rather large, and growing hematoma. Ouch! So, a procedure to help eliminate this was taken, can't remember exactly what it was called, but after two more visits to the ER, the groin/intense thigh pain has finally abated, and also, want to commend all the nurses/doctors that attended, and are still attending me in follow up appointments. The staff on Tower 6 and Floor 6A-especially nurse Lisa Conley were fantastic. Kudos!

Mixed bag. 75% of people with whom we interacted were kind and compassionate. About 25% were not. A couple in particular were rude, smarmy, unprofessional and should be fired immediately. Pain control was not good. Some places staff stood around nursing station talking and laughing while patients needed attention. This happened in two separate locations. Miscommunication abounded. Housekeeping never ca,e in room - even when there were bodily fluids on the floors from surgical procedures. Sometimes staff did not wash hands or use sanitizer. A couple of staff had poor English skills and could not be understood. Discharge instructions ( meds) were wrong! Surgery waiting room was an absolute zoo. Room was often hot and no one could do anything about it. What was good? Surgery was successful, room was relatively quiet ( except for threat of violence security alerts- 3 of them), food was excellent! Techs were good. Bottom line- it's busy, can be loud in some spots, lot of mistakes and communication errors, just too big! Some people who work there are great. How to do they tolerate that atmosphere?

I do not recommend this hospital for having a baby. We called on the way to have some one meet us at the front to check my wife in and park our car. Of course neither thing was done. Then we get to the 8 th floor for them to tell us our 12 year daughter can't come in and she has to wait in not a waiting room but a actual patient room by her self. By this time I'm fed up and tell my wife I'm dropping my daughter off with her aunt. My wife then proceeds to tell me that she's second in line to get a room since they are full and don't have any available rooms. How? You just stuck my daughter in one! I am currently trying to switch to Presbyterian hospital where my first child was born and had no such issues. Really frustrated about how elementary this hospital operates.

This place is ridiculous! My uncle had to call his daughter because the nurses would not come and help him. He was on the phone with me as he asked the nurse to get in wheelchair she yelled at him like it was an inconvenience for her to help him. My uncle is in his right mind and he has cancer and a weak heart. we have already been told that there s nothing more they can do for him. Drs give him 6 months. You would think they would have more compassion.

Unbelievable wait time for ER- 5 hours and waiting ! Initial assessment, dose of pain meds and blood drawn accomplished so far. Can't receive more pain medication because doctor who evaluated her has left, need new evaluation by doctor to receive additional care but no doctor or room available for evaluation. Worst experience ever !!!! Not coming back . Btw- online app says 1 hour wait time currently.

I had Dr. Reynolds today (12/04/2018) and I just want to say how amazing he was. He was very patient and kind. He made an awkward situation feel comfortable and safe because he was very nice and welcoming. After procedure he was very informative and knowledgeable about the after care. I m so grateful. And I really thank Carolina Medical Center for having amazing doctors like him! Again, THANK YOU DR. REYNOLDS!!!

Waiting room in ER was the best part of our visit. Spent a small amount of time in triage while they prepared the patients room in short stay department. The patient made it known to all nurses and other staff members that she would need meds for anxiety before her MRI. Yet still had to wait for these while in care of the MRI department. After hours no staff in waiting room. Therefore no communication to her husband. Big hospital. No communication between departments. Hospital should have a no cell phone policy while on duty. We experienced that.

My dad was hospitalized for a stroke. Stay in ICU ...

My dad was hospitalized for a stroke. Stay in ICU neurosurgical unit for 3 weeks. Most of the veteran nurses there are terrible. Only ones that show care were the trainees. If you ever have a family member stay there, you'd better keep a close eye and be there 24/7 with them. Nurses are rough, impatient, and careless. I've seen them huff and puff because they have no control over the patient. They need to realize that a person recovering from a stroke will not be in their right mine. They won't be as cooperative as you want them to be. Even the Case Manager (Jodi) on that floor is sorry. You will see her only once and that's when your family member is first hospitalized. She'll say if you need anything to contact her. I did several times and no response. If you give them any kind of paperwork from your employer to fill out make sure they do it in front of you or your employer will never receive it. If my mother and I hadn't stayed there most of the time my Dad would've been dead.

I was in for salivary gland removal. Every single member of the staff I interacted with was kind, friendly, compassionate and professional. I have spent 4 hours for 2 days trying to get in touch with the business office to no avail. I am furious. They have no problem with sending you an incorrect bill but good luck trying to speak to someone about it. I guess I'll just tear up the bill and let them track me down. I disgusted with their last of customer service.

This is the worst hospital. It has been that way for awhile. My brother was sent to the streets from a serious car accident. When they released him both legs were swollen he had broken ribs and shoulder and couldn t even wheel himself in the wheel chair. He initially had a pneumothorax which is very dangerous that was never followed up on. He was supposed to be going to rehabilitation after Labor Day holiday
To help him recover but they decided to kick him out early still complaining of chest pain. They could have waited for him to be admitted to rehab nova to would never do this. As a healthcare professional I am totally disappointed they can still operate like this.

This hospital is horrible they are nasty the floors are nasty, and the staff was incredibly rude. My husband had a ruptured disk in his neck and they treated him like he was a drug addict from the time he walked in. This is ridiculous and I don't recommend anyone who is in serious pain to come here. I don't recommend this hospital for anyone and on top of it all this is the hospital that killed my daughter by not sending a 5 week old home that had major surgery. They didn't send her home with any antibiotics so if you want to die come here and they will make sure of it.

My grandmother went in to CMC due to major blockage, She arrived Sunday night a doctor told us Monday there was nothing they could do for her. Then turn around Tuesday and another doctor advised we can probably do surgery and repair the damage. After they finally done a ultrasound they never let us know the results of the ultrasound or if they were even going to be able to do surgery!!!! Finally surgery on Thursday while waiting (surgery was suppose to be max. 4 hours) we finally heard at 5:45 that they were finishing up.....Didn't hear anything until 2 and 1/2 hours later that she was in recovery and about to be back in her room. No consult from the surgeon afterwards NOTHING from ANYONE we didn't even know if the surgery worked, If there was complications NOTHING. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL place HUGE LACK OF COMMUNICATION between doctors, Nurses, Surgery waiting room receptionist to patients family. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone!!!!!!

They have been very thorough with my mom and have treated her well and done everything they could of possibly done but on her second day at the hospital she was not feed diner the kitchen closes at 7 and she asked a nurse when they are going to be serving diner and the nurse said, they have not fed you yet. So she did not get fed. But they did give her snacks and today for lunch she told them she was a vegetarian and they gave her mashed potato s with BEEF gravy and a slab of BEEF. Then she had them take it back and got a salad and a little bit of veggies and fruit!!!!!! But they have been really well with health care but not so much food

I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!! Please do not bring loved ones here if you care about them. I brought my dad here 3 times for the same matter and they still didn't help him. I told them he was weak and dizzy and might pass out and they told me to "Catch him if he falls"!..."What the...??...are you freaking kidding me...Catch him? My dad has been waiting to be seen for 5 hours and he is a diabetic. After I finished talking to the nurse who was no help, my dad is pass out and guess what they did...PUT HIM BACK IN HIS WHEELCHAIR!!! I hate this place and will NEVER EVER RETURN. Please go to Presbyterian Hospital if you ever have a problem. ...They wait for you to be at the verge of death before they help you at CMC main.

Phenomenal care. My mother suffered a hemorrhagic ...

Phenomenal care. My mother suffered a hemorrhagic CVA in Fayetteville NC on 12/10/2009. She was airlifted from Cape Fear Valley Hospital to Carolinas Medical Center that evening.

I made many trips to Carolinas Medical Center the following six weeks. My mother was treated initially with an intracranial drain and stabilized on a ventilator. She steadily improved thanks to their excellent care. The ventilator was removed less than 4 weeks after her arrival. The staff, including physicians, nurses and everyone else I interacted with, are a class act.

My mother underwent further rehabilitation after she returned to Fayetteville. She now lives with me and manages most of her daily care herself. In fact she is sitting on the couch just 10 feet from me, enjoynig football on television, petting our two dogs and enjoying a snack before dinner.

While I admit that the extensive rehabilitation which she received after returning to Fayetteville was instrumental in returning her to the functioning state that she is in now, I, without question, fully credit the physicians and staff at Carolinas Medical Center for the incredibly responsive, attentive, accurate and personal medical care that she received during her stay there in the most crucial time of her acute injury.

Many thanks and much appreciation to Carolinas Medical Center, their physicians, nurses, staff, support personnel and, particularly, those in their neuroscience division.

I have ALWAYS received great care from this hospital. CMC is where you go when you want to get the best care possible. They have top notch doctors and compassionate nurses. The food is GREAT and they have an extensive menu to choose from. I can't possibly think of any negatives about CMC! And, their rehab is actually one of the top in the country!

Best hospital by far compared to mercy, pinville and university. I just wanted to give a shout out to brittney who was our nurse in room 6912 , 3/2/2018. You have made my fiance amanda very comfortable and welcoming. Even went to the cafe because it was too late to order food. I wish all nurses were like you. Thank you so much.

I also want to say thank you to nurse Dee who helped us the second day. What an amazing and helpful person. Overall our experience was great because of you two.!!!!

Awesome experience. I went to CMC to get a cardiac catherization test, which revealed artery blockages to my heart and was held over for open heart bypass surgery. I spent a week at CMC. I have nothing but praise for all the professionals I encountered. I was taken care of in every way by the staff from meals, nursing staff and surgical team. The cardiac surgical team was topnotch. My procedure went in minimum time and I was released promptly with a great follow on recovery support

To the parking attendant, the receptionist in the foyer, People in Panera Bread, Sweet hearts in the Cafeteria, Officers on duty in Foyer, Many Many Nurses and all the Doctors on the 11 Floor, The gentle who went and got us boxes of ice and clean our mess and leftovers up, God bless each of you for making the best of a tragic situations starting early Saturday morning as the Life support brought Officer Tim Brackeen to you from Shelby Hospital. For the crowd we had you were still caring and professional with each person especially the immediate family that stay hour after hour praying in the room and talking to Tim. Allowing this was exceptional in most cases but caring beyond belief.
There are no words that can express our gratitude or thankfulness to each of you. God Bless each of you and your work you do.

I came in Sunday night. This is Thursday and I'm still here. These people are AWESOME! I've had the best nurses anyone could ever hope to get. Ashley,Sarah,Gold, Lisa and Rose are all top notch sweet and caring! They have made this bearable. I can't stand being away from home but these ladies have made a impossible task as easy as it could be (all things considered). Still don't know when I get to go but at least they are nice. Now for Doctor Ho!!! AWESOME LADY!!! I just wish I had her for my primary doctor!!! This hospital is clean and everyone is pleasant to deal with. I definitely will NOT ever go anywhere else but here!!!!!!!!!

This same procedure would cost $100 going to a dermatologist! These guys are scam artist and the hospital systems are one of the primary reasons why our healthcare costs are so high!

I went to Atrium Health's Carolina Medical Center for a hysteroscopy. The parking is very convenient. You can walk directly from the parking garage into the reception area. The staff at reception is courteous but the pleasantries stop there. My significant other accompanied me for the visit and I had been told they would be allowed to wait with me before my procedure. The nurse (I think her name was Jo) was extremely short with me and made me feel very uncomfortable. I stripped down and removed all of my jewelry as she had advised and inquired at least 5 times over the next hour if my SO could please come sit with me as I was getting very nervous. She brushed me off as did the next couple attendants I asked. When it was time for my IV, Jo was extremely rough. I had a bruise that lasted 2 weeks. There is a complete lack of respect for patients here. They just want your money and couldn't care less about you as a person. Furthermore, they are extremely overpriced. They charged me $29,000 for a 3 hour visit for a small procedure. This is a disgrace of a hospital and I will never go back there again.

Ive never had good care there. But this time was the worst. I was given a bad referral (to the wrong specialty) by the doctor that saw me in the ER. Took me over a week calling every single day to try and get it sorted. Nobody called me back any of the days. When I finally got ahold of someone they told me I d have to start all over andgo back to the primary that sent me to the ER that sent me to thenonexisting neurologist.
I ve been out of work for over 14 days already, so with that in itself I would rather risk my health than return to CMC.

This is the worst hospital in Charlotte and the area, my mother in in the emergency room, and we walked to get something to eat in the hospital, but was told we could not get back in without walking outside in the pouring rain back to the emergency entrance. Where our items were check all over again and we had to be a walk back to the room. When leaving her room we had to walk right through all the sick people that are waiting to be seen. I will never bring anyone in my family here again. Such a nightmare

I loved all the nurses from A tower at cmc Maine from the post partumn delivery center! They took the time to actually get to know me and they cared about my husband getting to come home for the birth of his second born child. Since he did not get to see the first birth. Robin talked to the American Red Cross after I gave her permission to and told them everything they needed to know. Amy talked to her managers and see what she could do to also help get the process done faster. Kesha who had a great attitude and was very funny. Suzanne who really stopped to get to know me as well. These nurses were so amazing and if my husband and I do decide to ever have a third child I WANT these nurses. They are so great about the job that they do and they actually care to get to know the people that they have for two days they are taking care of. I loved all these ladies and they made such an impression on me! I just wanted to say I love you ladies and you will be missed!

This hospital isn't terrible, but it could definitely use some improvements. At this facility, it really depends a lot on who you get assigned to your care. Some of the medical staff are honestly amazing. Unfortunately however, there are many others that are down right awful. We will probably be switching to Novant very soon.

You are better off drinking ginger ale. Once you're in the waiting room, you're doomed you have just been given a life sentence. When you go back "finally" you'll see all doctor and nurses standing around talking about non work related issues. I really wish I had the knowledge to care for my own medical situations. Smh YOU SUCK CMC

This place is lovely. I had a weird allergic reaction of some sort so my lip flared. I tried to wait it out but decided to go to the hospital. I was prepared for a long wait and run around like normal hospitals. I got there at 330am and left at 6. The nurses and doctors were lovely, informational and cared. Once I signed in. I only waited 5 mins to be called into a room and maybe another 30 for the doctor to come. He was the only ER doctor one but very fast and professional. When I left the staff all said bye and feel better and just really help turn around my cappy night when I came there in tears!

Horrible experience I can see them doing harm easily, 6 out of 10 nurses were horrible & lie lie lie & do not want to work I've received more professionalism at the supermarket BTW I was in surgery on the 19th never once was I washed/bathed lay there in tremendous pain & have to smell your own sweat body odor, just plain horrible I do not understand what goes on I had a very bad car accident in 1990 I was 19 yrs old & everyone in Bellevue hospital treated me like a king & they were so loving and caring made you feel happy to be there that after my 8 months recovery & physical therapy I volunteered my time at the hospital to help make a difference in somebody else's life regardless of how I was treated I would love to be able to do so at Levines

My friend coded five times. If he were anywhere else, he would not have made it. The entire staff went over and beyond from ER, ICU, dialysis, physical therapy team, doctors, nurses, aids, volunteers, chaplain, and housekeeping. Everyone was indicative of the awesome care as if each patient was the president.

I was so impressed; I signed up to become a volunteer to give back. When patients and family members are facing medical dilemmas, I want to contribute to encouraging them personally. I want to let them know that their loved one is in great hands at Carolinas Medical Center Pineville.

Surgeon not related to CMC did great for wife, recovery at 930am...Still waiting at 1240pm for updated in surgical waiting room. Asked numerous times and no results in status of wife. The hospital and current staff appears not concerned and uses cookie cutter responses to your question. Use outside surgeon and don't rely on the staff for anything. Get the info from the physicians and nurses. Not other hospital staff.

Made a same day apptmt as a new patient for husband because he had an injury. When I called back to see if I could change the apptmt to the next day, was told that 'if he had showed up for that apptmt today they wouldn't have seen him anyway because we don't let new orients see nurse practitioners. We can't see new patients until November'.

My sister was taken to this hospital and because of her ex-boyfriend who almost killed her! Who also said things that he should've never said about her,was taken in by the staff and used against her to keep my sister in her hospital room and not able to even leave her room to go for a walk with a visitor for over a month that she's been there! Now they have started letting her leave the floor for 20min at a time (like that's enough time). They have also broken hippa law several times, yes they are a very good hospital but the way they are treating my sister is very wrong!!

We've been here for over a week and while the nurses and physicians are good (at least most of them) the facility itself is not.
There are not enough walkers for the patients who need them, we had to beg for a chair to be in the room. Even though they told him to sit up and not stay in bed.
They took orders for his meals but constantly brought the wrong one and would just leave it .
For a supposed 1st class hospital it leaves a lot to be desired.

Wonderful staff . My husband was there for six day's he had a triple bypass. I have to say he had the best nurses and doctors ever. Alex in ICU was awesome, Morgan in the cardiac unit is the best nurse ever, all of the staff were wonderful.
