Carolina Ale House Review

Food was ok. The place looks old and run down. Our server was horrible. She never checked on us after we got our food. We waited for our checks for a whole hour

Great service and good food. My bartender Neal made all the difference during my visit. He was quick to offer excellent suggestions for both food and alcohol! My only reccomendation would be to upgrade a few of the older televisions.

Wings were great and so was the house made blue cheese dressing. But the Kentucky mule was even better !!!!

Horrible food... ordered chicken tenders with fries and house made honey mustard dressing for my husband.... chicken was inedible... old, chewy and tasted like old oil from a fryer not cleaned in ages... no honey mustard in bag and the side of cole slaw was literally a tablespoon... I got steak tacos... no cilantro ranch dressing, no pico de Gallo, no salsa for my old hard tortilla chips and the steak was tough and full of gristle.... the only positive was the fries.

Great atmosphere and good food! I literally felt at home watching the game.

My mother, husband and I went there to have a lovely lunch on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately the service was lousy. It took over an hour to get a salad, appetizer and a burger. The waitress never checked on us, and they were not that busy. When the food was finally served, the burger was well done instead of medium as requested - to the point where it was hard as a rock and burned crisp. It was also cold. We sent it back and requested another burger. When they still hadn't come with the second burger after 45 minutes we decided to leave and asked for the check. Not only did the waitress charge us for the first bad burger, she charged for the second burger we never received. I took this to the manager and asked for a refund for the burgers. He claimed he refunded both burgers to my card, but a week later when I checked my account not only did we pay for both of the burgers (the one that was no good and the one we didn't receive) but he also double charged us for the entire meal. So we ended up paying $96 for a salad and an appetizer. This was the worst service I've ever received in a restaurant and I'm 50 years old. We will never go back, which is a shame because we used to really enjoy this place. They've lost a customer.

Solid food in a sports bar atmosphere. Good for watching a game. Salads, fries and chicken sandwich are my go to items, and they are always done well.

My family was excited about celebrating a family member birthday. We were seated and waited about 5 minutes for a waiter to come greet us after being told they were confused about who would be our waiter. Needless to say one person of our party good order was given to another table. After an hour now if waiting the food finally came and he was eating alone because everyone had finished their meal. We kept asking the waiter what was taken so long and he didn't know. The manager also was running around like a chicken all confused saying the resturant was very busy. There was no excuse for the terrible service, no refills on drinks. My son and spouse got their meals free because the restaurant screwed up. They need better training and full staff when having a high volume of customers.

Me and my fiance went here for Valentine's Day. The food was great the place wasn't loud like most sports bars and the waitress was very nice and she made sure we had everything we needed

Food was just average. Jay was a wonderful waiter. Will not go out of our way to visit again.

Service was very poor. Took 15 minutes to get sugar substitute. Never came and refilled our drinks. Had to ask for ketchup for fries. Got grilled chicken salads and the chicken was cold.

Laid back sports restaurant/bar pool tables games on everywhere

Order was not correct. This is not the first time either. The tone deaf hosts are the best. Barbecue sandwich was floating in barbecue sauce, there was no bottom bun left. I recognized the error before leaving the parking lot. 45 minutes to get the order corrected now the other food is cold.

Came in tonight and I must say that Toya was amazing bartender. She has such a bright smile on her face. I really enjoyed her bartending and i will be back to see her. Great job Toya!!

The food is great and the service is good. They had a decent amount of games that me and my friends enjoyed playing. However we were there to watch a football game and unfortunately the picture was underwhelming. The projector as well as another screen's color was off, giving everything a greenish tint. Overall it's a pretty nice spot to chill, eat, grab a drink and watch sports

Nice place . Has pool table. Pretty good food. I go there for the great Blue Cheese Salad Dressing.

Me my daughter had a friends day date and it was terrible! We waited almost an hour and a half for our food. Half the order was still wrong. Our waitress tried her best to keep us comfortable but there was no way possible. The kitchen staff was terrible. People outside complaining about waiting to be seated. Ughhh should have just went to the new seafood place on Erwin Rd.

The menu is so limited and they won't budge on even the smallest of adjustments to items on the menu - something rarely encountered these days. This was explained by telling us that, after all, they were after all, a sports bar.

That said, our waiter was nice and at least asked management if the adjustments we requested could be made. He's the only reason I'm giving two stars instead of just one.

We ended up having to leave.

Nice chill spot for a weekend hangout with the wife or fellows.

A little slow on the drink refills. Overall it was Sunday night, busy, but enjoyable night out for dinner.

The service is super slow, I ordered a beer before my chicken wings and cheese fries came and didnt get it until after I finished my food.

Outstanding venue for a gathering with a great beer list and menu.

Service was horrible from the very beginning . Waited for a hostess for 2 mins, while servers stood around ignoring the fact we were waiting.
Our server was extremely slow after the greeting. Took another 3 mins to get a pop and a tea. We ordered our meal and a soup (white chicken chili) was served with our meal no spoon was available. It was so salty it was not fit to be consumed.
Very disappointed and will not return.

Enjoyed delicious dinner menu choice chicken flat bread and popcorn chicken at Carolina Ale house.

I preferred Carolina ale house when it 1st opened in it was clean with good service.

Reminded once again why I don t eat at The Carolina Ale House in Durham. Our server walked by once after bringing our cold wings and asked as walking past us how things were. I couldn t have even told him that our wings were cold! All the food is frozen and not fresh. Now I know, nothing has changed! I don t recommend this location.

I gave 4 stars because I had to seat myself. I sat at the bar and Erin was amazing. She made the perfect drink and put my food in right away. She was also very attentive and made sure everything was perfect. Thanks Erin

Why in the hell would ANY restaurant totally close their kitchen NINETY minutes before they close for the night???? (Not even a bar/appetizer menu available!)

Had Fish and Chips, asked for the fries to be crispy and asked for extra. Tarter Sauce.... didn't get either of these.
Waiter was OK at best, not customer friendly for sure. The fish I had was bland and could of been crisper also.
Bright side was my wife liked her salad.

I love their food but I have to say, most of the time, their service sucks! I work across the street from there and its very convenient. However, when I go on my lunch break, i'm almost always late getting back because of very slow service, and there usually isnt a lot of people in there, so what is their problem?

Worst ribs ever. The cook added mushrooms & onions to the ribs. The menu did not mention that as ingredients. The waitress said it depends on the cook. This was my first time visiting this location. I didn't eat 3/4 th of it they knocked off $5 because it was also cold. We waited 40 min for our food on a slow Wed night.

Standard bar food. Not bad. Unfortunately always lousy service.

It's a nice quite environment not crowded fo a Monday night game ,I rate it 5.5 hostess are,well,groomed and respectful,all and all I'll come back.

Check order for being accurate. My order did not come out as ordered. Michelob Ultra was flat on the draft side.

We came Thursday night and Melissa was our server. She really went above and beyond on a busy game night to take good care of us. Definitely ask for Melissa when you come in.

Came for in with some guys from work (6) for the Eagles game on Sunday. Alyssa was our server and had a lot of fun energy. She did a great job taking care of our table. One of the best servers we've had. :)

Visited to celebrate a graduation. I was leery about it before I arrived due to several low ratings. Unfortunately I can see why the low stars were given. I was not impressed with the food at all. The restaraunt is close to other shops and the waiter was nice but at times they just seemed a little unequipped to handle a large party. Its probably best to just pop in for a drink but for a good meal you may want to explore other options.

If you're looking for a great sports bar with lots of screens and good food on the menu, you couldn't pick a better spot. Right next to Target and other shopping venues, this is a great place for lunch or dinner. Service is fast and friendly. Watch all of your favorite teams play while you munch on great food with a huge selection of spirits. Highly recommended.

E is the best bartender ever, food is amazing, and staff is personable! Grateful to have such a relaxing establishment in the Durham community!

Terrible service, but the food is really good. Unfortunately I ve had bad service at this location on more than one occasion. I won t be coming back and I wouldn t suggest anybody else go to this location.

The food that was served to is was spoiled. The server said someone else just said the same thing. The manager offered nothing for inedible food.

In all my days on this earth I have never had to endure such a level of incompetence or ignorance at a restaurant. The waitress was unable to remember orders, constantly walked away from the table while trying to make request, and waited till everyone sitting with me had there food to let me know they had ran out of what I ordered. Not to mention we sat at our table for a good 15 to 20 min before receiving service to begin with. Lastly I asked for my order in a to go box it was brought to me on a plate, when I reminded the waiter they rolled their eyes and gave me a look. It is safe to say that I will probably not be returning to this establishment.

First time at any of the Ale House's but, loved it!.. Bartender's are awesome, you won't miss any of the good games, and find is very decent.. Will be back

Cheyanne and Trevor at the bar kept the frosty drinks coming. Great TV situation.

Waited over 44 minutes for 6 wings. The waitress Vanessa who was training another waitress named Vanessa told me she forgot to put the order in. When it finally arrived the wings were over cooked. Could eat them. Had to ask for napkins before I left because there was never and napkins or silverware on the table. I'll stick to eating at the one in wake forest. Manager seemed just as lost as she could be to.

Waitress was very rude! First time in a sit down restaurant where I had to go get my own utensils at the other end of the room. Will not come back to this location.

One of my favorite places to eat! I always get the spinach dip with half pita bread and it is my absolute favorite. Service is always super fast and the food is fresh. Best burgers around and the bartenders really make some good drinks. Definitely recommend.
