Carolina Ale House Review

Been visiting the Durham location for many years and have never seen it look like this. The staff was friendly and attentive. We got our drinks quickly and the manager brought out our food not long after. She introduced herself as the general manager and asked how our visit had gone so far. Honestly, all I could say is that I was impressed with the level of service we received. Really felt like a welcoming neighborhood joint and have to congratulate this manager for turning this place around. I will be coming back more often!

Matthew was awesome and entertained my niece. Great salad and good kids menu.

New waitress Rae was very good. Food was excellent.

Come in probably once a week. My wife gets the spinach dip and our son probably eats half! Drinks are good and everyone seems to be in a great mood ready to take care of you however they can.

Casual, relaxing, but fun atmosphere; family friendly. I definitely suggest the spinach dip with pita appetizer. You are welcome.

The Gm Antwon noticed that I was missing my side of fries and got me hot fresh fries free of charge

It was dark and gloomy inside. For a "Carolina" ale house there was not one local beer on the menu. The table wasnt very clean, nor was the booth. I left before ordering anything I was so disappointed.

Have not been in a long time due to bad service today was just a reminder of that because they were not busy at all a Sunday evening 6:30pm and after 30 minutes of waiting and still no one taking a drink order decided to leave

Food is good, beer selection great but service is sooo slow because they never have enough servers especially during a big event like the Duke UNC game.

Best spot to get some good food and nice cold beer. The manager AdriAnna is amazing and the bartender Erin is an amazing bartender.

My food was cold, I asked for no blAck bean salsa and that is what I received . I don t understand why a special requests can t be respected or honored!!!!!! The other guests in my party had a request with
no black bean salsa o. However my casadia had black bean on it

Super Restaurant even though it's part of a chain.
Easily accessible from the highway and the main thourofare. Plenty of free parking including for Handicap accessible Vehicles.
Great menu, something for everyone. Price are very reasonable. Place was clean and well staffed. Service was well above par. Excellent

The food was appetizing on the whole. I especially enjoyed your signature burger. I was, however, disillusioned with the spinach cream cheese dip and chips I ordered. The dip was sour and smelled awfully rancid, and instead of chips, I received stale cuts of pita bread. I felt bloated the following morning, which makes me think the pita had gluten in it. The fries also weren't beer-battered as advertised on GrubHub. Nonetheless, I recommend this restaurant. Just call to make sure your order is prepared accurately.

I ordered the pulled pork platter because Carolina is supposed to be known for it's BBQ. It was very disappointing. It was a tiny portion of meat layer atop 2 slices of bread with the worst fries I've ever tasted. They were soaked in grease and soggy. I couldn't even eat them. The only saving grace was the coleslaw and the Turtle Brownie dessert.

This is a Cool place to have a Drink with Friends and Watch the Games...But the Service isn't what it use to Be..But Still a Nice Spot to Hang Out.

This place is so inconsistent it's ridiculous. You might get your food, you might have to wait an eternity for it. The place can be empty and you still have to wait 45 minutes for your food. Don't bother.

This is our go to place for sports but on this specific day we came later in the day than we normally would. Elijah is the most ridiculous and unprofessional server I have ever seen in my life. Nobody wants to go somewhere, spend their hard earned money to watch a game and have to listen to a complete fool run around shouting the entire time acting like a 5 year old having a hissy fit, talking badly about the team he doesn't want to win.

I shouldn't have to wait for him to take our order because he wants to watch the play on tv, or wait for what I had asked for so I can eat my meal I paid for because he would rather close his pile of checks first. I am truly surprised the management allows this type of behavior from an employee continuously. Talking smack to your tables about their team probably isn't the best way to get a tip. This is not the first, second or third time we have seen this from Elijah, just so happens we got stuck with him. We come with a group of people during football season and the same thing happens. He works inside but for some reason keeps coming out to the patio and disrupts everything instead of doing his job and taking care of his guests.

He really should be embarrassed of himself. If you don't want to do the job you were hired to do, then keep yourself at home. We spend alot of money here during the football season and through the year but just might have to find somewhere else to take our business.

Terrible service...long wait time, waitress hardly checked on our table. Manager on night shift duty on July 1st was unprofessional when she did visit our table; Won't visit again.

Steak was not good whatsoever. Extremely overcooked. Vegetables also overcooked. Service good though.

Just a restaurant with a pool table and broken arcade games. If you don't have a personality, you'll be really bored here.

Excellent hostess and our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly (beautiful smile). Food was very delicious and very affordable.for two adults and two children. Great atmosphere.

I go infrequently. Love their wings. But their cocktails lack regularity. Service is almost always lackluster. Every third time I go, I leave before ordering food. Due to the bartender or server just not being there. After 15 or 20 minutes of waiting to order I'll eventually get fed up and leave. If their wings weren't so good, I'd never go back.

Liked the food but was very disappointed with my drink order not once but twice. The waitress tasted my drink not once but twice and then had the nerve to bring it to me after she tasted it. The manager Andrew was no help and down played the situation while the bartender stood there and watched her do it. Not a good first impression please watch your waitstaff.

Great service and awesome atmosphere for being social.

It was a very piss poor experience. It was a seat yourself night for one. Not enough servers as our server was playing host as well working numerous other tables. Order placing was far too time consuming. Waited far too long for the food (not a busy night at all). Drink orders went unfilled for extended periods. Lastly attempting to pay was another 30 minute ordeal. Ridiculous to say the least.

My girlfriend and I stopped by the Ale house for dinner one evening. The overall experiance was pretty good but the service our server Jennifer gave us was nothing short of amazing! She made the dinning experiance wonderul. The food was pretty good, I had the chicken fingers and my girlfriend has a salad. I would recommend this highly place!

Great location for this busy sports bar that has grown in popularity over the past 10 years. Located in the Sam's Club/Ross/Target shopping center. Plenty of parking and great space for groups. Awesome waitstaff and everything that you come to expect from a signature Ale House location. They have great shrimp tacos at this location.

Atmosphere and food was Awesome! Will definitely be back!

There was food in my water glass before I even touched it, the appetizer came out cold, and the drinks we ordered never came. Will honestly never go there again.

Like every CAH great atmosphere and food.Our server was friendly and that always counts for a lot! Near to Sam's Club and Target where we shop.Will return to soon.

I have only been to this location during lunch. Always was nice. Nice variety of foods that scream north carolina. Plenty of drinks to choose from esp if you like local

TERRIBLE! Got there and got seated right in front of a table that had a worker in his uniform listening to a video but had fallen asleep. He stayed asleep the whole 2 hours we were there and no one from the staff attempted to wake him. We then moved tables after asking the waitress who said it was fine and the hostess came back and told us to move because she had a large party to sit. So we did. Then we saw the manager and four employees all standing next to the pool tables talking while one employee was eating. This is front of the whole restaurant! Then the server that served the table next to us was hurrying to eat a burger in between tables during his shift. Not to mention he got his burger way before his tables and us got our food. When our food came out a person I was with did not get the correct side item so they said they would be right back with it. We were done eating before it came out and then proceeded to charge us for it. WHAT ELSE COULD HAVE GONE WRONG. Terrible service, terrible management, disgusting habits portrayed by the wait staff and management. Will not be back. Ever. And I see that restaurant going out of business very soon.

The wait staff is always polite and courteous but the food sometimes is ok then other times it horrible. The first time I went there and got the fried chicken wings they were fried to perfection. They last three times including today was another story I got my God son an order and I got one also they were fried so hard it made a sore in my mouth trying to bite into them and my Godson had to get something else he could chew. Chicken wings are not cheap at this place so I'm thinking they should not be overcooked to where you can't eat them.

Stopped by on Saturday after the Women's Basketball exhibition game with my family and had a blast! The food was very good and our waitress A.J. was the best! Our conversation and banter with her made us feel right at home. If she wasn't working I would have asked her to join us! Anyway it was a great time and I wish my husband had tipped her better. I love him, but I always tip more. LOL Anyway, the next time I'm in Durham I'll be back and I hope to have the pleasure of having A.J take our order.

One of the worst service experiences I've had. All frowns and wait for your drinks. Sorry I came here as I wait for my drink again!!!!

Clean space and plenty of TVs to watch all types of sports games. They also have a few pool tables and a patio area

Man oh Man Trevor and Cheyenne! My husband and I came after a long nights work and these TWO were the BEST! They taught about Tequila also were just fun to talk to made my hard work night a great night! HIGH FIVE TO TREVOR and CHEYENNE!

Hey I wanted to get some food I love to going to Alehouse, Erin is a great bartender and very friendly. The manager Adriana was very helpful and served food to a perfection. Perfect place to enjoy and watch sports.

Worst service ever, we were seated a table of 3, we all order a bear and 1 appetizers. Took 15 minutes for the beers to arrive then another 10 for appetizers. We ordered out food one of urdered a steak medium rare the other 2 ordered different items we we brought our food except steak, no silverware or napkins. I stopped another server and asked if they old bring us some silverware which she did. Meanwhile the two of us are eating and still waiting for the medium steak to arrive. Finally after almost 45 minutes the steak arrives, was asked if she wanted steak house she said yes. No steak knife to cut it with and it is like rebber and well done. No pink at all never asked if we wanted another drink and steak sauce came as she was finishing eating what she old of the piece of the leather steak with a butter knife to cut it. Never again nor will we refer anyone else. Also out server name tag said Reggie

Had a wonderful experience at the Ale House in Durham on Saturday. Alyssa was our server and was so friendly and accomodating. She recommended the spinich dip as her favorite and it didnt disappoint. Fat Tire was on special but I was hesistant to get it, as I am picky about my beer. She described it to me and offered to get me a sample. I ended up ordering it. I really appreciated Alyssa's patience. She is very fun and will be back. Great food. Great service.

The overall experience was not good. It took us 15 minutes to get our drink orders taken. It took us 45 minutes to get our food. My burger tasted a bit overly charred until I got a little over halfway finished. I had ordered it medium well. Then I stopped and looked at it. The burger was clearly burnt. Our waitress was awesome and got a manager. However, the manager's disposition was far from pleasing. He offered a $5 discount and moved on. I'm not one to argue so I accepted. I will not return.

Just went here for lunch. Walked in and was seated close to the kitchen. While waiting on drinks, noticed multiple staffers working the food line not properly wearing masks. Masks were either pulled down below their nose or all the way below their chins. Makes me wonder if staff is blatantly disobeying the mask mandate in front of customers what they are doing where customers cannot see. Left me extremely uncomfortable so we politely got up and left. Also seemed like the manager was working the line and did not seem to care.

Great place to eat great food. Especially if you are a sports fan tvs every where. My husband said tv's in the men's restroom so you don't miss a play. I highly recommend this place.

Food is ok. But they neeeeever answer the phone when I need a to go order. I literally called about 20 times within 10 minutes and no answer. It's only 1030. They close at 2 what's the problem?

The setting is very dim but service was good as well as was the food.

Great place to catch a game with friends and enjoy good food. Just get there early because they do get busy.
