The was very good. Latoya was a friendly waitress. A very nice experience.

Old reliable. Decent bar food, nice people, open late

My family goes there multiple times a year. Always pleasant.

Today I come to this place like every day, to pick up a meal and online orders take a long time to buy online, here it is a disaster, they leave the order online for the last thing I do not recommend buying in this place in this way

Truly pitiful service. The sign said seat yourself, so we did. We left after 20 minutes because NO ONE CAME TO GREET US OR TAKE OUR ORDER! The servers and staff knew we were there, we made repeated eye contact with them. The place wasn't full, maybe only 30% of the seats were used. Wow. Don't waste your time, there are numerous other places to eat right in the vicinity.

Service was lovely, but the food was subpar. Fries and potatoes had a weird aftertaste to them, and the fish tasted good, but was rubbery and had an unpleasant texture.

Hello, I recently visited the Carolina Ale House in Durham, NC at the South Square location and I had a bad experience. I usually come to the Ale house for spinach dip and that s what I got this Sunday June 23,2019. I was really dissatisfied with my food because it did not taste good AT ALL. I am not one of those customers who likes to make a scene or ask to speak to the manager because I don t want anyone to think I don t want to pay for the food. If I would have told them right then and there I don t like the food they ve would ve asked if I wanted some more and at the time I would have declined. The problem with my food that day is that the chips were OLD with no salt no taste and the spinach dip wasn t good either. Before coming to this location I visited the Ale house in Brier Creek and Wilmington, NC both experiences were great. My chips were fresh and not stale and my spinach dip was great as well. Is there any way I can be reimbursed for my bad experience. Thank you in advanced

Food was delicious. Service was a bit sloW....but overall a decent outting.

Bad place to pick up deliveries. They take forever to do your order. When they said that the food is ready. I came to pick up my order wait more than 20 min and cancelled it cause they take long time to make it ready

Service was poor, mistakes on 2 of 3 orders, long wait time for food then it was wrong. TV was too loud to have a conversation and it was not particularly so busy the level of volume was needed.

Food was as expected, pretty good. Service was pretty slow, was on a time crunch and they weren't busy. Order didn't come out exactly as asked either, but waitress didn't come back to ever ask until she brought the checks much later.

Good food. Service was a little slow and TV's were up loud enough I had to almost shout at my waitress for my order and she still got it wrong.

Will not be back in life! There comes a time when being treated unfairly is enough! I can't stop people from acting the way they do but i can control where i go!.There was one bartender about 7 people (that includes my husband and I) meaning that shouldn't have been too much.. apparently it must have been for this bartender. The only time she came our way was the intial take your order and we did get our drink at first 30 min ltr....continious bypass and ignored and finally the 12 wings comes out..no apologies but it was then that a bell told her to ask if we needed a another drink..it is just disgusting that customer service no longer exist but you want your tip still right. Guess what you still got a cash tip bc we believe in not treating people the way we are treated. The deal is...you lost business and this place has fallen off a long time ago.. i will never even look there way again not even in a different location...good riddens

10 mins after we get there to get a order of beers at a high top.
Won't be coming back and won't tell anybody to go there,
It seems to me they need more training
On what's going on around them
Because they see a table with no drinks on it and think to there self they might need a drink or a menu I need to wait on them, but that's just me

The awareness of there area is not a top priority when you past a table and don't say or do anything

Haha; If it weren't so terrible, it'd be comedic. Sat for over a quarter hour; not a single person acknowledged this guest's existence. Hardly busy, couldn't see a reason for the dereliction. At least the greeter glanced up from her phone momentarily!

I read the bad reviews, but I've been to a lot of Carolina hel I read the bad reviews, but I've been to a lot of Carolina ale houses and I didn't think it be that bad. But this is by far the worst, that's not yours are all Carolin and I didn't think it be that bad. But this is by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Usually Carolina alehouse and are all pretty good. Ordered the Carolina Theatre he only had two strips in this l Carolina alehouse and are all pretty good. Ordered the Carolina dipper itonly had two strips Of shaved beef. Imagine two see through pieces of ham, that's what it's like.The waiter messed up our order several times.

I enjoyed it. Wish they had more locally brewed beers.

Classic sports bar, tons of seating and TVs good service. The best of their menu is the burgers, and the fried cheese curds.

I'm disappointed that the chicken apple walnut salad I ordered to go didn't contain either walnuts or apples

Average bar food and OK service. It is very hot or miss.

Everything thing was great the waiter, the food and drinks everything.

I stopped in and had a meal here after the recent coronavirus lockdowns ended.

I'm not sure if it was the excitement of finally being able to go out to sit down for meal or that this time it was exceptionally good.

I frequent many Ale House locations before and and normally the meals are decent but nothing spectacular. But that was not the case this time.

I ordered the fried pickles and the riblets appetizer; piping hot, perfectly seasoned, and so fresh it was as if they had grown the pickles right outside and cut them up that day!

As for the ribs, the meat literally fell off the bone. I'm not exaggerating in the least.

It turns out that the chef from corporate was training a new staff, he came out to greet the patrons to make sure that everyone enjoyed their meal. I was extremely impressed as this had never happened before (in my experiences).

Well above expectations on this trip. I highly recommend this location.

Went here a few nights ago with my boyfriend and had the best experience. The food was prepared correctly and came out in a timely manner. My server was awesome and the manager checked on us throughout our stay. Will be coming back!

My wife and I have been going to Ale house at this location for years but lately it's been terrible service and terrible food. We arrived late afternoon where there were only 3 or 4 other tables in the restaurant. After waiting 10 minutes my wife went to the bar for service before the waitress finally saw her and came to the table. We ordered an 8 dollar bowl of cold cheese fries with the cheese not melted. We asked the waitress if they could warm this up for us. It came back cold again and the cheese still not melted and the fries soggy. Obviously done in a microwave. No apology from the waitress or management. After years of going here I will never return. Perhaps management should pay better attention to its customers and employees.

Great food, strawberry margaritas made perfectly. Our waiter was very attentive and funny. Management very professional... took time walking around making sure customers comfortable and satisfied.

I ordered the chicken tenders with fries and slaw. The tenders were indeed tender. I thought they could have used a little more seasoning, but they were not bad. The fries were fine. The slaw was somewhat dry until you got to the bottom of the bowl. Over all, I was satisfied.

Great lunch and experience. Matt and Latoya were great. We were so happy to have this work-couple provide us great service and a lot of laughs. Thanks Team!

Food was cold. Was very polite and told the waitress. She took the food back and came back minutes later with new food. The new food was just as cold as the first plate. When we told the waitress she asked, "Is it tolerable to eat." Sad thing is that a manager checked our food when he sent it back yet he never came to the table to apologize and we were charged full price. We will definitely not be back.

Melody is an outstanding hostess and Tasha was just wonderful as a server. Was a fabulous dining experience. Will definitely be a returning customer.

The service was great the rate Swiss was excellent in her servants and her parents and she was polite I would recommend anybody from out of state to go there especially after this covid-19

Great food with decent prices. Usually have a good experience but the hostess was extremely rude this time.

B.J. WAS AMAZING! Seriously the best server we have had in a while. Our appetizer came out late and she communicated with us, made it right, and was honestly just a joy. Managers on the floor were attentive and helped their server staff where they needed it. She gave some menu recommendations for next time that we are excited to try! Overall had a very good experience.

The service was slow but, there was only one waitress today. This was my first time at this location. I overheard the managers, who were just standing around, discussing about her being the only one who bothered to show up to work. We could tell that she was working to the best of her ability and was very apologetic. The food was ok but, I think that I will only go back for their drinks.

The good reviews must be from the employees, their friends, and family. Believe all the bad reviews that are here. The service is horrible and our server appeared to be on drugs. We only ordered alcoholic beverages. After waiting for 30 minutes, I decided I did not want to drink anymore. The server tells me that he is unable to take the drink off the bill because it is alcohol and he would need to get his manager involved. He never asked to see our IDs nor did he verbally verify our age. The manager (Ryan) comes over and tells me that because it is an alcoholic beverage they can not take it off the bill nor pour it back into the bottle. (Well who in the hell pours alcohol back into the bottle, smh). He continues by saying we did not do anything wrong, so I would still have to charge you. I said umm excuse me I m driving and I will not be drinking, nor will I be paying for a drink that I waited 30 minutes for. I refused to pay for the drink, and he continued to press the issue by saying there is nothing he can do about it and I will HAVE to pay for the drink. I have never in my life experienced a situation where alcohol and the bill were forced on me after waiting 30 minutes for poor service. He was inconsiderate and did not consider the liability of forcing a drink on a customer-who clearly stated that they are driving and did not want to drink. My friend asked if the drink could be swapped out for something she wanted if she covered the bill, and he said no. I felt he was empathetic and rude to her being that she covered the bill anyway of $6.50. Wow! How desperate and unprofessional. I could have been underage and got into a car accident upon leaving. And Ryan you would have been liable if anything had happened. I hope you consider further training on customer service and NC alcohol laws. I am sure to never return here and hope others will take this review into consideration before spending their hard earned money here.

Wasn't the great experience it has potential to be and I was hoping for at least one pasta meal on the menu. Customer service wasn't the best.

Erin is the best bartender that I've had the pleasure of interacting with in a very long time...and that's coming from someone who is born and raised in NYC and wasnt a stranger in pubs in NYC. She is very nice, attentive and the drinks are very fairly priced. Carolina Ale house is awesome! The food is also great! Thanks Erin for your attentive hospitality and thanks to the cooks in the kitchen too!

Always have a great experience here especially with the best bartender they have Sarah. The glasses are always good and cold and so it the beer. Manager has been great in coming and speaking to the patrons of his establishment.

This location has gone downhill in the past year or so. The kitchen can't follow simple instructions on a take-out order. We asked for blue cheese x2 and carrots only for our wings. We got ranch (only 1) and celery and carrots. The service is lackluster at best. We were told tonight that when we order take-out the "ready" time is the earliest we should leave the house to go pick it up because they can never get the food ready in time, and all we got was burgers and wings. The burger tasted like the grill hadn't been cleaned all night. The mac and cheese that came with the kids meal had no flavor to it at all, and the "fresh fruit cup" was 3 small pieces of fruit in condiment cup.

When we go in to eat, most of the tables are dirty and it takes forever to get our food and our check at the end. I think both the front of the house and back of the house need some serious re-training at this location.

Very disappointed with this place. I love the location in Charlotte but not this one. First of all the bartender servers were inattentive even though the bar wasn't very busy. The food was slow to come out. And most surprisingly they added an 18% gratuity to our bill! Apparently this is standard on Friday and Saturday nights, but there is no advance warning of the added gratuity. They say there's a sign near the front door. I checked and saw no such sign. The server was not helpful and unable to do anything about it. I won't go back and I don't recommend that anyone else does either. Tips should be based on quality of service, and when made mandatory there is no obvious motivation for the servers to perform. No wonder our service was barely adequate, at best.

Great food and lots of monitors for watching sports!

The food was satisfactory but nothing special. The beer selection is sad for a place with that many taps. No big bodied hoppy beers on tap. Got a Ranger IPA which I thought would be ok but it had a funky taste like the taps had not been cleaned in a long time. The waitress seemed very nice but didn't know much about beers. I would probably look for a better place next time I am in the area.

I love Ale House. The food is always good. Best salads and wings. I also get fish tacos they are awesome. SK is the best server they have.

Overall atmosphere was fine, service was slow on a Saturday night. Took 15+ minutes before we got to order drinks and took 45-50 minutes to get our food.

The order was reconfirmed around the 40 minute mark and we were made to change one of them. The other was missing ranch on the sandwich per the menu description.

Food was at least tasty, but overall a sour experience.

The food takes a long time, I ordered by phone and even so I had to wait 1hrs , the girl in front very rude .

A bit dated and on wet weather days, the smell of the carpet reminds you of this fact. Great hard working staff though which is the reason my review is more than 1 star.

We recently hosted a company event in Ale House's private room. The logistics were complicated in terms of how many guests would be there at varying times, but the Durham Ale House team handled it all like pros. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it, while the staff was attentive and great to work with. Overall, they were just incredibly accommodating and helped us put on a fun, casual event that everyone loved.

My husband and I went there tonight to watch the game and the quickest seating was in the bar. So, we sat down in the bar, ordered some drinks and an appetizer, and enjoyed the multiple screens. There was a game of pool going on in the back part of the bar and the folks who were playing were really loud. Furthermore, we had to ask for refills, our entrees came after the table next to us got theirs and we were seated first, and the bathroom was really dirty and one of the doors didn't lock properly. The spinach/artichoke dip with tortilla chips was really tasty. Unfortunately, our hamburgers and fries were more hit and miss. My husband's fries were cold and looked like they had been the last of a batch because there were lots of small bits and crumbs. My fries were so hot that I couldn't pick one up and were covered with grease. While the burgers were better, they were overcooked and the lettuce was wilted. Apparently, ketchup was scarce and the bottle that our server brought us was empty before we had finished with our not so great fries. Overall, I was really disappointed and so was my husband. In the future, we might just make the trek to the Carolina Ale House at Brier Creek rather than being disappointed in Durham.

The hostess wasn't helpful, she lied, told us the ceiling fans couldn't be cut down, the kitchen was not professional, we received 3 orders of an 8 order table , we waited over an hour after they had served the 3 & then brought 6 wings and the order was for 12, waited another 30 minutes and my daughter asked to see the Owner, the Manager, and the Manager comes with a tray of wings, nothing for what suppose to be of our orders and I was done with the mess, I told my daughter get her ticket for what she ordered and told the Manager I no longer wanted nothing from there, it's been to long and you still don't have anyone order correct, I will not go there again as long as he's the Manager and that Liar Hostess is there, not even a 1 rating, Terrible and yeah,he wanted to charge for a drink of tea, imagine that,

Sorry Services been waiting for an hour to have our order taken. Can't have college doing stuff they take way to long and are very slow. Just horrible it use to be better back in the day.

The food was great once we finally got it. It took 40 minutes for the waiter to come back to tell me that the fish tacos had to all be the same, they couldn't be 1 of each. It then took another 20 minutes to get the food, an hour after we placed the order.

I just want to say that heather and JoJo are the best bartenders that I ve experienced! Anyone that says otherwise on here is telling a lie!!! They are extremely attentive and make the best drinks... I really just hate to see how hard thy have to work making drinks and Togo orders and filling ice I feel like it s too much but they re beautiful and amazing! Get your drinks at the ale house in Durham with JoJo and heather!!! I ve never been let down.

Super slow. We came as a group of around 20 for an employee event. We arrived around 11:30 and the restaurant was rather empty, so it's not as if we were part of the lunch rush. Once we had ordered our food, it took about an hour for half the party to receive food. Another thirty minutes later (for a total wait for 90 minutes) the rest of our party received food. One of our party members was still waiting for a cheeseburger. We finally paid our check and left after 2 hours at the establishment. It was at this moment that our final party member waiting on food finally got his meal. I don't know who was to blame, but I've never had food take so long to prepare, even for a big group.

Dropped in with a crew of 25 or so between soccer games. They were super accommodating, gave us a back room where kids could be loud and parents could visit and enjoy a break. SK did an amazing, top-notch job serving our whole crew with a smile. Can't say enough about the job he did. Food was good. Kitchen got it out efficiently. You guys really made our day as a group. Thanks for being great hosts, and please pass on the huge props to SK!

Do not recommend this place. I ordered wings and they tasted like they had freezer burn. They were touted as "fresh" on the menu. The side veggies( celery and carrots) were dripping wet like they had been sitting in water for awhile. I ordered more and they came in a bowl that I had to drain a couple of tablespoons of water out og. The bleu cheese dip was quite yellow until I stirred it then it looked better. Like mayo that sits exposed for hours.
The service was okay.
Not going back.

The food was great and exactly what I came for! I would have liked more ranch for my salad but the waitress was taking so long to come back to the table I didn't even bother asking. I got my food before my drink, then had to ask for silerware, and only saw the waitress 3 times (taking my order, bringing my drink and dropping off the bill)

Amazing selection of draft beer and fantastic chicken wings. Sit at the bar which is surrounded by Tv's and enjoy their high-speed WI-FI

First couple of times I went there were very good, next time I went I found they had taken a few very good items off the menu! ie picky platter, next time I went, they were out of two dinner choices that I had chosen! Waitresses are awesome, ( especially Re) , but it will be a long time before I return, Poor Management I suppose!

Waitresses and staff very friendly and attentive. If you haven't tried the fried pickles appetizer you are missing out. It's awesome. Good place for meet and greets not too loud. Nice atmosphere, good parking and outside seating
