Totally ridiculous to spend $22 for a plate of pasta with sauce. I was waiting to see something good in it-but nothing-not even basil came on it!
Tourist trap-Loud-crowded-they don't even spend $ on a menu-you need to read the walls. We had to ask several times for a refill on the water.

Service was incredible.
Pasta dishes were spectacular.
Our waiter advised to go easy on our portions in order to enjoy all of the forthcoming courses.
Sure glad I listened.

Came her with my family food was good so was service until our server had come out and we were after dinner now on desert already and I had mentioned that I dont want to sound rude but I don t like cinnamon in my cappuccino And the waiter rolled his eyes in a very impolite manner And made me feel embarrassed that my wife felt his tension of anger said politely That she would drink it and to get me another even though she had a coffee in front of her Now that just doesn t sit right with me very well even after hours leaving the restaurant even after I has left a more then generous over 18% Gratuity Why is it I feel very belittled over coming to this place It s not Like complained on anything other then I don t like cinnamon we loved everthing and said it was a joy to visit we drove from Connecticut very unhappy at this current moment

We had a private room. It was a little tight for the amount of people we had. The staff was so hard working and very nice the food was good. The fruit was not ripe but pretty. The drinks we really good. Over all we all had a very nice time.

The is the best Italian restaurant in New York city.I have been dining here for many years and even when I order my favorite dish (linguini with white clam sauce) I still look forward to enjoying it every time.

Our waiter was so funny and polite. I forget his name. I asked if they have lemonade and the waiter said we have two different kinds: regular or freshly squeezed strawberry lemonade. Yum! Immediately ordered the strawberry lemonade and had 2 of them. This place is always very clean pertaining to plates, cups and silverware . I hate going to restaurants where I see water marks. Food is absolutely delicious and big portions. The shrimp cocktail had the biggest shrimp I have ever seen!! So juicy and I love the fact they cleaned the shrimp( no shells or legs and took out the vein/line on the top) cocktail sauce was delicious with a little hint of spicy! Penne a la vodka with shrimp was the best I have ever tasted. A lot of flavor. My second time here and I will definitely be back !

Very crowded & noisy, long wait to be seated. For mediocre Italian food. Nothing tasted fresh or home-made tasted like the sauce came out of a can and very thing tasted over-salted. Will not visit again

The mediocre food was only matched by the mediocre service. Ordered the veal parmesan, which was overcooked and chewy, followed by the waitress' suggestion to have broccoli as our vegetable side. The broccoli was undercooked and unappetizing. The whole experience left me cold and uneager for an encore.

Always loved the large portions designed for sharing. You may be taken aback by the sticker price but when the food comes out you see why. Bring help eating because you'll surely need it because even the bread they bring you is huge.

Side note which has nothing to do with the restaurant:
If you park on the street you have to pay the meter until 10 PM. I learned the hard way.
Don't forget to like if you found this helpful.

Unbelievably great!!! Huge portions always delicious. Great for large parties and celebrations. The starters are just as good as the entries. Cesar Salad and an extra large serving of fresh Calamari just to begin. Big board with all the selections. Something special not in the menu is their Chocolate Torte. Trust me it's in the back refrig. Usually a wait during dinner times. Friendly experienced staff. Delicious!!!

Big groups - that's why you go to Carmine's. If you are looking for a location uptown for a group of 8 or more (20+?) and you want a rowdy, loud, accommodating place, that will setup a huge table for you and where your family/friends can all talk and laugh without really giving a thought to the food or ordering or disturbing anyone else, then Carmine's is there place for you. It's truly a New York institution. The food is fine, the staff professional. Nothing is fantastic or even cause for notice, which is exactly what you want when you just want to go out with your huge group and celebrate... anything.

THANKSGIVING at Carmine's:

THANKSGIVING at Carmine's:
(finally getting around to posting this review)

We made our reservation for 8 people at least 2 months in advance of Thanksgiving at this location for 7PM. We requested the traditional Thanksgiving dinner including the turkey and sides as well as a pumpkin pie for dinner. We received multiple calls to confirm the type of dinner we wanted, guest count, and dessert option. Everything was all set in advance.

Summary: it was a disaster and I do not recommend spending Thanksgiving here.

Highlight: Zucchini Frittes

The day of our reservation, 6 of us checked in on time but were delayed getting to our table by 15 minutes as we awaited the final 2 guests to arrive. The hostesses assured us that this would not be an issue. We were seated and greeted by a lovely waitress who confirmed once again that we were here for the full Thanksgiving meal option. We ordered some appetizers and other food to come a la carte (in addition to the Thanksgiving meal). We were served drinks, one appetizer, and a salad, which we ordered to come out prior to the Thanksgiving meal. We also ordered a pasta dish and a chicken dish to come out with our Thanksgiving meal.

After the appetizers were complete, we had to wait a long time for anyone to mention staring the main course portion. Suddenly, the manager comes by to inform only myself (who made the reservation) that they had run out of turkeys because they were giving them to people who didn't even have a reservation for this Thanksgiving dinner. She left, and I had to explain the situation to the rest of the table. She offered to comp us so that we could order more items from the menu and we opted to have everything else that was supposed to come with the turkey as well. We ordered another meat dish in place of the turkey. Instead of receiving everything we were supposed to get, multiple side dishes were missing and no one mentioned that they had also run out of these or we would not have wanted to keep the remaining sides in our order. The one pasta dish that we had ordered came out with olive oil as a sauce when we had specifically requested the red sauce option. At this point we were so hungry we just took it as is and it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. We got the most absurdly gigantic plate of carrots which I imagine they did in attempt to overcompensate for the missing sides but we are not rabbits and no number of humans could possibly eat that many carrots. Finally, the pumpkin pie came out and it tasted like plastic.

We all left very hungry and extremely disappointed in how this Thanksgiving turned out. I appreciate the manager's attempt to comp our bill, but it did nothing to explain the situation they put us in which should never have happened or to explain the carelessness of the food that came to our table afterwards.

I have had good experiences coming to Carmine's for dinner on a regular day, but these actions at Thanksgiving will likely keep us from returning to this location again.

Not like it was years ago. I went about two years ago and was a bad experiances. Thought THAT was maybe a fluke. Went again this evening for my Wife's Birthday and low and be hold service was terrible. I used to love this place but now I'm done .PERIOD

Could not see what was on the menu before ordering. Advised for us to share because the portions were huge. Dessert menu was on the wall and not on the menu. It was my first time and didnt enjoy what i ordered.

Food was great, but was quite turned off by the dirty plates, cups, and silverware. The glasses had lipstick on them and the plates and utensils had food stuck to them. I was quite turned off by that, but the food was great and our waiter was friendly and made great recommendations.

I've gone to Carmine's many times with my family. The food is consistently superb and the service is great. They serve family style so the serving are huge and meant to be shared. Their broiled porterhouse steak was absolute perfection. My go-to pasta dish is the linguine with white clam sauce but I don't think you can go wrong here.

I brought my girlfriend here as she was visiting from Texas and we both really enjoyed their food. Their portion sizes are huge, but perfect. There food is properly seasoned and is well worth the price. However, their dessert is potentially overrated. We had the titanic and was definitely a bit much.

This place explicitly refuses to seat those who politically disagree with them. Earlier tonight when they were open and had seating available immediately told them they would have to wait 2 hours because of their MAGA hats. It s okay to disagree with them but not to intentionally

I came with my partner and ordered Spiedini, and Penne A la Vodka with Chicken. The Spiedini was ok but average, the Penne a la vodka and chicken was bad, penne is hard and sticky and low quality as if it is served in sbarros , chicken was chewy as hell, yes the portion is big, but I would have preferred if my dish was smaller size and better quality and taste, I just ate two bites and couldn't continue. Eat at any Italian restaurant but not this one. Overrated and below average.
