THANKSGIVING at Carmine's:

THANKSGIVING at Carmine's:
(finally getting around to posting this review)

We made our reservation for 8 people at least 2 months in advance of Thanksgiving at this location for 7PM. We requested the traditional Thanksgiving dinner including the turkey and sides as well as a pumpkin pie for dinner. We received multiple calls to confirm the type of dinner we wanted, guest count, and dessert option. Everything was all set in advance.

Summary: it was a disaster and I do not recommend spending Thanksgiving here.

Highlight: Zucchini Frittes

The day of our reservation, 6 of us checked in on time but were delayed getting to our table by 15 minutes as we awaited the final 2 guests to arrive. The hostesses assured us that this would not be an issue. We were seated and greeted by a lovely waitress who confirmed once again that we were here for the full Thanksgiving meal option. We ordered some appetizers and other food to come a la carte (in addition to the Thanksgiving meal). We were served drinks, one appetizer, and a salad, which we ordered to come out prior to the Thanksgiving meal. We also ordered a pasta dish and a chicken dish to come out with our Thanksgiving meal.

After the appetizers were complete, we had to wait a long time for anyone to mention staring the main course portion. Suddenly, the manager comes by to inform only myself (who made the reservation) that they had run out of turkeys because they were giving them to people who didn't even have a reservation for this Thanksgiving dinner. She left, and I had to explain the situation to the rest of the table. She offered to comp us so that we could order more items from the menu and we opted to have everything else that was supposed to come with the turkey as well. We ordered another meat dish in place of the turkey. Instead of receiving everything we were supposed to get, multiple side dishes were missing and no one mentioned that they had also run out of these or we would not have wanted to keep the remaining sides in our order. The one pasta dish that we had ordered came out with olive oil as a sauce when we had specifically requested the red sauce option. At this point we were so hungry we just took it as is and it had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. We got the most absurdly gigantic plate of carrots which I imagine they did in attempt to overcompensate for the missing sides but we are not rabbits and no number of humans could possibly eat that many carrots. Finally, the pumpkin pie came out and it tasted like plastic.

We all left very hungry and extremely disappointed in how this Thanksgiving turned out. I appreciate the manager's attempt to comp our bill, but it did nothing to explain the situation they put us in which should never have happened or to explain the carelessness of the food that came to our table afterwards.

I have had good experiences coming to Carmine's for dinner on a regular day, but these actions at Thanksgiving will likely keep us from returning to this location again.
