Had a pre cancer surgery appointment. The ride didn't show. Very poor service. Now I have to wait 4-6 more months. Change insurance. I hope I make it that long.

I have a 7 year old daughter who can't get any prescription medication including her inhaler because care1st seems to think she has insurance from when she was a baby yet both ahccss and the care1st customer service both show nothing else only care1st pharmacy "service" has the issue they refuse to fix. Even though they said they priortized me twice and would call me back never received any communication after that. Now for the 3rd month in a row I'm trying to call to get someone to fix her prescription on care 1st side because she has pnemonia!!! What kind of company says they'll help a child then does nothing not once but several times I've called them about this. They don't care at all if a child suffers if they tell you you'll get called back don't believe them because they won't. We are scrapped together money from friends just trying to come up with money for her prescription.

My family has been on care 1st for 4 years now and I absolutely recommend them over other state plans. They are always friendly and accommodating and I have never had an issue getting necessities covered for my children. 10/10

I have been treated very well, and I have no complaints.My medicines, office visits, and lab tests have gone very smoothly. The Phone representatives have been very courteous, and helpful.

They should call this plan Pre Authorization for the same medication 7 months in a row. Horrible Insurance.

I TRULY HATE THIS INSURANCE!!!! called them and ask for a PCP in my area and the lady was very rude on the phone didn't even bother to help me . What's worse is that I got stuck with them because of AHCCCS telling me that I can't switch to a different plan till November. Oh trust me when the option comes I will be changing my health plan and not going with these guys again !!!

*** Transportation is a joke, Takes the cab 4 hours to get to your house OR THEY NEVER SHOW UP !!! Sooo disappointed.

Every bad thing said about CareFirst in these reviews is true in my experience. They create one hassle after another after another. If you don't already have migraine headaches and you'd like to then choose CareFirst.

Can't get the help I need with this insurance .these doctors have denyed me for my age and because I have my card, a plant has helped me more then they have and I have been denyed help because I smoke a plant verses signing away my card to get their pills I've been denyed help with my pain and quality of life because of this ! So I can't work I can't even get keep up with my daily life because of my pain . Not to mention waiting for the rides when your uncomfortable as it is it's an all day event for a one hour appointment it's B.s and uncalled for.

The scumbags just denied my antibiotic coverage for hidradenitis suppurativa which I have been battling for 34 years. I wonder how much they're going to like paying for ER visits instead???

Worst insurance ever. They hardly ever want to help me. I've needed rehabilitation and they always only give me a short amount of time even when Drs and therapist tell them I need longer. It's always a struggle with them to get the care I need. Highly discourage people to choose this plan.

Worse insurance ever they are willing to let my kid die rather than doing their job and fixing the system. DONT USE THEM UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH!!!

When attempting to call them they hang up on you no matter what option you press on the phone tree, website has no log in for patients, so no way to sort out the mess they have made of my insurance, ahhhhhhhhh!

I recently got a plan with care 1st. I was having an issue with filling prescriptions for my son. I called in a few times and when I was placed on hold my call dropped 2 times and had to call back and start the process over again. I want to highlight one of your employees his name is Ben Y in the pharmacy help desk. When the call dropped he was the only one who actually called me back. He was courteous, kind, and extremely helpful. His customer service is beyond any that I have ever had. I really appreciate him getting answers and helping me get my sons medications filled and in a timely matter. He even called the pharmacy to ensure there would be no issues. THANK YOU BEN Y!

I am absolutely disgusted with Care 1st. I work in the pediatric medical field and was on the phone with a "SUPERVISOR" who told me that they messed up and approved a Dexcom CGM for a type 1 diabetic and that it's not medically necessary. The rep then said that our Dexcom rep is "making" us sell these devices and that we have a lot of type 1 diabetics in the north valley that need Dexcom. This one really hit home for me as I am type 1 diabetic myself. The Dexcom device is such an amazing, life changing device.

For 20 years I did not have insurance and I got Care 1st and they covered my surgery and hospital stay 100%. Their transportation is really disorganized and frustrating, but at least I can get free rides. I am so grateful to have insurance that I gave 4 stars.

I got to go to Cigna when I got Care 1st....I had my own transportation to appointments. I got excellent care and honestly can't think of any complaints. I hadn't seen a Dr. in many years. Care 1st paid for mammograms, colonoscopy etc...Nurse Practitioner I was assigned to was wonderful....I thought Care 1st was great :)

This insurance should be outlawed. It is only a matter of time before they find themselves in some kind of lawsuit. No doctors are covered by them. They require a preauthorization or some kind of form for everything. Their is nothing but hassles, wait times and being passed around. Ironically it is literally CareLAST with them.

They actually made me go to another doctor, to get a referral, to be able to follow up with my back surgeon. Another doctor I had was not on their list so I have had wait until he got approved. Even the local hospital was not covered. The hospital imaging staff calls this insurance a scam. The directions and procedures they have are nonsensical.

It is blatantly obvious they throw everything they can at their patients to make life difficult. They don't even pretend its anything else.

I am now on hold indefinitely for an MRI and seeing the back surgeon. I don't even know what I'm waiting for, and neither does Care1st. Its just made up baloney to collect a government check and not pay out.

Enjoy the Goverment check while it lasts Care1st. I am certainly doing my part to let elected officials know how bad this is.

It sucks becuase the previous insurances the state had were excellent.

since i've had to get a new PCP I'm sad to know all I've seen non cirt; 80+ % are not even MD's thats fine CNP most only NP's also. my problem is after 30 yrs on klonopin 1 mg x 4 daily for seizures and severe anx/stress ptsd wfich stress can has triggered my seizures. now no reason MOBODY on CARE FIRST will refill my 30 yrs Rx. I just lost my mom my son my 2 nana's and 23 yr old pet anyhow i am at my lowest shaking on top of crying dear what cam and may happen to my safty heath wise. Does anyone who never abused your Rx's but yet they pcp/np say bye so find a dealer for a street drug s it is easier they told me,prof; medical staff of care first suggt; i try it. HELL NO I DON"T EVEN DRINK ALCOHOL NEVER DO NOT LIKE IT,never have. i do not do drugs,why would you let me possible die some people are not too strong in this area yet i harm you are doing by passing the pen/buck'' DOCTORs'' REMEMBER DO NO HARM A LITTLE THING YOU SWORE TO ,as a doctor/np , ect......, the LIST Dr.s don't help some due to fear of the ''LIST'' ITS REAL SCARY I GEUSS BUT who am I lori anderson you'll never see this if i am close to correct can't spell but I see said the blind man. MEDICARE ADMINISTRATORS are now involved in my complaints against MTBA-CARE FIRST. THREE NO-SHOWS (INCLUDING LYFT DRIVERS THAT WON'T CALL UPON ARRIVAL, HOUR WAITS TO GET A HOLD OF A REPRESENTATIVE TO EVEN SCHEDULE RIDES-PICKUPS). I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE OF MY FELLOW INDIGENT CHRONICALLY ILL PATIENTS TO CALL THE MEDICARE ADMINISTRATION AND START THE PROCESS OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST MTBA. THIS IS YOUR RIGHT AS MEDICARE RECIPIENTS. DON'T LET THIS COMPANY GET AWAY WITH A RIGHT THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO! MEDICARE WAS (AND STILL IS) VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT I HAD TO TELL THEM (AND THE TRAIL OF EVIDENCE I GAVE THEM). SPEAK UP FOR AN INSURANCE ENTITLEMENT THAT YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO RECEIVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH!

Another reason to stay away from this healthcare insurance...
Care 1st (which is now WELLCARE) and MTBA (a transportation company) ARE THE WORST for receiving rides to and from your doctor's office. I have been stranded twice, and have to call up to three times to receive a ride home from my doctor's office. Both facilities cannot follow directions. I have told BOTH Care 1st and MTBA THAT IF I DO NOT RECEIVE TRANSPORTATION to my doctors' office, and my doctors charge me as a "no show", Care 1st and MTBA ARE PAYING THE FEE. Both of these companies take advantage of the indigent chronically ill, and this situation has been going on for YEARS.

I have asked a Care First representative to come to my home and discuss my coverage with me TWICE. Made appointments, THEY NEVER SHOWED UP.
When open enrollment comes around in a few months, I am dumping this sorry excuse of insurance. BTW, I am on Medicare...

Care First Health Plan Arizona is changing their name to WELLCARE OF ARIZONA.

I was at a facility and receiving physical therapy, care 1st decided I was totally rehabilitated and cut off my treatments without any notice. Also, they don't offer dental and vision.. vision for kids only.. and dental for emergencies only. They should rename this company, care last.. not care 1st...smh

Worst insurance ever! They keep denying stuff I need done because it s out of network. Then when you call them no one can help you. Stay away from this insurance!!!! I can t wait until open enrollment I m done with this place!!!!!!

I was a member for 3 years. When it counted, care1st lied to me. I called on Sep 27th,2018 to ask about the insurance switchover. The rep reassured me that they would continue coverage for at least 30 days. That was a blatant lie. As of Oct 1, they wouldn't even cover a regular, necessary prescription. As it stands, I also can't get the epilepsy meds I need. This company doesn't deserve to be in business, considering that they don't mind lying to their patients. I emailed them a complaint, the man that called didn't speak English well enough to be understood, so he couldn't have understood me. That's how much care1st cares - not at all.

Best insurance in my opinion very helpful compared to other plans..had back surgery last year and had no problema with them covering..compared to the other plans..the only problem i have had is the doctors who can't give answers to why im getting pain..but the insurance nurse help line and the representatives very helpful...ohh screw the doctors not the insurance plan.

Why are they even a insurance company? They would not cover the amoxicillin or Ibprophon when my son had strep had to pay over $100 I didn't have for that because he Needed them, and then last week wouldn't cover a perscribtion topical cream for an infected wart he had on his arm and chest more his allegery medicine. What the he'll they are horrible and complete BS!!!

My first year and I have had better support from this plan than I did the ten+ years I was with Mercy Care plan.

I am 3 years on a biologic/injection medication & they have taken 2 months just to get a prior-auth. Meanwhile I'm now experiencing a flare up!! I was with their insurance company, PHX Health plan previously, so it very much concerns me why the huge delay!
The info exchanged between care1st and my GI doctor is slow & very much so inaccurate!
Their protocol for patients needing their specialty medication is absolutely awful & their non-urgent demeanor is disgusting!!!
As soon as I physically can, I will be switching insurance companies. I'd most definitely avoid this particular company!

God awful. Worst AHCCCS insurance of all time. They're ridiculously picky. They'll make any excuse to try not to cover something. They'll waste your time for no reason. DO NOT enroll with this one.

Bad attention with the transport service they tell you that they already send it and it is a lie they no longer answer the phones

I will say as soon as my option comes up again I will be looking for a new insurance company. Every prescription or procedure is nothing but red tape. It is like you need a pre authorization to get a pre authorization. Totally messed up place they do not seem to care about the patient at all.
