Having just completed my second visit to Canyon Ranch in Lenox (and currently preparing for my third) - I thought it important to stop and say what a wonderful retreat it has been for me in the hopes that it may help someone else.

As a modern day professional who often gets run down - Canyon Ranch is a god send. I can go there at my 'low' or my 'high' and it seems I always come home feeling better.

The value of the classes is immense. Topics stretch from family business, to relationship coaching, to all aspects of healthy living. The staff and hired speakers are 1st class - and I don't say that lightly.

The opportunity for physical activities and pampering are world renown and stand up to their reputation. Off the top of my head, the new Technogym Equipment, excellent locker rooms, class offerings, and 'Park Avenue Talented' beauty staff all make it worth coming alone.

And I personally love the food! As a young executive who is interested in healthy living - I often find any comments regarding the food at Canyon Ranch being sub par completely miss-placed. Its as though those mentioning it simply do not have the palette for this type of food and lifestyle.

All in all - if you find yourself rundown - this is THE place. It is one stop shopping; body, mind, beauty, and eating - you don't even need to leave the building if you don't want to. I come home looking fresh and feeling it too!

The facility was impressive but you are treated like Kobe beef cattle (actually, they may be treated better).
As a first time visitor, we arrived and had very little direction as to where to go. Once parked there were no signs directing you to the spa entrance. After asking multiple people where to go, we entered the woman's locker room. We were welcomed with, "What's your name"? & "Want a locker"?
We were given a $0.05 tour - as the saying goes.... and emotionlessly told wait here till they call your name.
The 2 stars are due to the fact that my treatment was wonderful.
My friend was given a post massage cup of tea with only a tea bag (no water). I guess her tea was more self serve!?.... seriously!!!?
For a place designed to promote personal growth and holistic care, perhaps the staff should attend one the Ranch's therapists to learn how to be welcoming and kind to their patrons.

Healthy, all-inclusive resort/spa. Beautiful facility and grounds. Many fantastic classes and activities. Fitness, personal training, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking... even snowshoes in winter. Had best massage ever here. Short walk or bike into Lenox for "re-tox" at Alta or another restaurant.

Always the very best and never disappoints us. We have a long record of visits and always look forward to staying at CR in Lenox. Interesting guests. Guests are now younger. It adds to the overall energy level. Great fun.

For the greatest store in the Berkshires you've never heard of, try The Showcase Boutique. It's right inside the spa lobby at Canyon Ranch and open to the public, even if you aren't a CR guest (just tell the guard at the booth you are visiting the Showcase. They've got brands and seasonal items you won't see anywhere else within 100 miles of the store and a helpful staff. The focus is on athleisure and outdoor gear. If that's your interest, you should really check it out.

Great wellness center for people who is looking to live a healthy lifestyle and be educated about healthy eating, workout, recovery, and overall living. This was my first time visiting and we were impressed with the amenities and staffs on site. We will likely to come back in the future.

I am so distraught. I left there crying. My boyfriend surprised me with a massage here and being the best guy he is I was so excited because I have never been there before. The moment I walked in I could tell I was not wanted or welcomed. If you are a local and overweight then this isn t the place for you. Worst part is I got my massage and the lady didn t even try, the lights were kept on and she hardly spoke to me. All I got was doused in oil and she didn t actually massage me just moved oil around. I was confused and embarrassed -It was a Swedish massage and I ve had them before so I knew this wasn t the standard it should be. Half way through I was so embarrassed and upset I wanted to run out of there. Worst experience of my life and I feel even worse that my thoughtful partner wanted to give me an experience of relaxation and instead I get treated like a second class citizen. CR has a huge reputation and even after calling and complaining they told us that this isn t the place for us. So locals don t waste your time or money.

So sad this amazing facility got sold out to a corporation. Sometime around Spring 2018. I wouldn t have known (or minded) if it hadn t fallen apart. The biggest difference is it s DIRTY. My YMCA is much cleaner. They don t clean machines after you. They just put a folded towel on the machine as if it s clean. I d clean the machine myself (of course) if spray and towels were available. Not. Oh... and the cool towels in the refer to wash your face ... eew. They smell like sweat. This went from what I remembered to be a clean?relaxing, clean, clean, yes..clean trip in the Berkshire s (previously) to employees wanting to help you NOT enjoy your stay. I noticed the change and increased pricing immediately. It was so disappointing. Im happy to pay for the location and service. Can t beat the area. But the staff is poorly trained now, are they all new? When did you stop cleaning equipment? The massage therapists are ehh.. at best. Newbies. Which is ok. But not at these rates. It s all mediocre and if you consider the cost mediocre isn t ok. I hear competitors are moving in. Sad to see a beautiful campus turn into a corporation with untrained staffed. Ie: breakfast is x time to x time. Coffee is out. Sorry. Wait 25 minutes. We MAY have more . otherwise wait an hour to eat . Really? Or better yet.. no phones on campus here.. we are zen . Yet the waitress/manager staff today are too busy taking pictures of themselves and waitstaff to serve! Oh and they aren t worried about service because you don t tip. (Although sadly I admit it was the manager doing this. The staff seemed uncomfortable as they were asked to take off jacket.. do this and that . So plan on waiting two hours for the same meal day after day after day. And it wasn t worth waiting for the first day. And if you want to skip that ??? And ask for a granola bar?? No!!! we can t help you. (Your not paying thousands of dollars a day , to be here. And if you are. So what?? Im not getting paid for that) Super expensive which would be ok but now you can t even get a few hikes in. That s why I came. People erase your name on the hiking list of 15 (I mean lucky list because your name gets erased. And others start a wait list of 5..20..to go hike but it doesn t happen. In the peak of October in the Berkshire s??? (.only 12-15 average people can hike a day). Which is why we are paying premium rates for sub par service. And note, they don t add another hike for the wait list of 20! Sadly I don t think I ll be back. Does anyone have suggestions as to where I can go now for healthy living, hiking, and spa? Willing to travel.

WOW! We visited Canyon Ranch as a little baby moon and were blown away. The food is healthy and delicious with plenty of options. We both had massages and they were the best either of us has ever had. The yoga classes were fantastic and they have an incredible gym that literally gets you excited to work out. All of the staff was courteous and helpful - thank you for the wonderful retreat!

CR is a truly special place. I left feeling better than I have in years. Even though the rooms need to be seriously updated, the rest of the experience is so incredible that this place would get more than 5 stars if I could. The staff, the classes, the food, the location, and the internal growth that CR makes possible can't be overstated. If you want to become focused, mindful and balanced you should spend some time at Canyon Ramch.

This is truly a spectacular place! You can try new things, relax, and become a better you. The staff is utterly fantastic. They're very welcoming and helpful to everyone, regardless of age, physical capability, or anything. The amenities are top notch and there's a ton to discover. The rooms are beautiful and the food is delicious. Dining is such a great experience. Highly recommend!

I can t get into detail regarding the horrible nature of this spa. I have been to almost every luxury spa in the US; subsequently, I will be reviewing some of those spas as well. If you have the money for CR, you are better off going to another luxury facility. There is one close by in CT, two in AZ and one in CA that are exceedingly better than CR.

I was recently at Canyon Ranch Lenox with two friends and had a great time. The Berkshires are gorgeous, you can't go wrong, but this location is also great. I have been to the Arizona location too, very different, so was very curious how this one would be. The food was great and I liked the classes. I myself do Crossfit so the classes were not the highest level of challenge for me, but some definitely were and I loved the walking/hiking in the mornings. We also rented bikes, which was a bit funny because this is a new service for the resort and they have not exactly figured out where the bike paths begin and end, but it was still great fun. We were busy all day long with some good lectures, some not as great, and I met some wonderful people who have been doing Canyon Ranch for a long time. I especially enjoyed the on-hands cooking classes and learning how to cook healthy meals. I believe Canyon Ranch is a lifestyle and it is worthwhile to visit both Massachusetts and Tuscon to get the full measure of it.

The entire place was very nice. The staff at the spa was exceptional. The rooms, pool area and locker rooms was clean and the grounds are well maintained. Best to make reservations at the spa early. They get booked up quick around the holidays.

Canyon Ranch is superb. Their level of customer service is out of this world. Everything from car service from the airport to the resort. The grounds, the rooms, the cleanliness-- the food- oh my, the food. And the spa staff. It's all phenomenal. I couldn't recommend the experience more.

If there were more stars I would give them 10!!! The atmosphere is calming. The food is amazing. Everything is locally sourced. The spa services are 1st rate. Everything is taken care of for you. I had 4 days of pampering and can't wait to go back.

Would have rated 5 star if not for the service in the dining. There is a period in the morning food is not served and the staff almost scolds you for attempting to eat during this time. I also had to explain to an attendant in the spa when I asked for a larger robe she should be more observant and thoughtful with her reply that they were huge.

I had a lovely time. Was in need of a wellness break and found it at CR Lenox. Staff were beyond awesome, rooms were very, very clean and quiet, & plentiful activities. Definitely intend to make this a regular vacation spot.

If you care about ethics, do not go to Canyon Ranch.

I once interviewed at Canyon Ranch Lenox. The job description was so over the top that halfway through - literally, still half the list to go - my friend and I were screaming with laughter at the description. Basically - you had to do EVERY SINGLE THING. I applied anyway, bc I thought, with that job description, SURELY it paid a real salary and maybe I could afford to live?

Solid hour-long interview. Feeling good. I ask what is the payscale. She says the pay is 11 dollars an hour.

I said I could not even consider it for that amount.

Canyon Ranch pays subsistence wages for the most outsize job description I have ever encountered.

The facility itself is very nice. However the services (given the price) are really not great. To pay nearly $200 for a 50 minute spa treatment is just ridiculous given we've had much better massage services at local facilities for $60 / hour. Obviously if money is no issue whatsoever, the price is not relevant. Nice place to visit for the day spa but I'd recommend limiting spa services to subsidize the over-priced room if on an overnight stay. Drive down the road and get a better massage for one third the cost. Sorry - would have loved to love it.. but call it like I see it.

Bellefontaine! This is a very high-end ( high priced too) gated health and resort spa. They will pamper you in every way you could be pampered. They have a nice pool and the food is excellent. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous with turn of last century summer cottage owned by Giraud Foster. The building itself is something to see with huge pillars facing the front lawn. The courtyard with the beautiful moat and fountains are unbelievable. The building was built in 1897 during the Gilded Age and was one, if not the most magnificent summer cottage in the Lenox area ( yes, a cottage). If you are one that is able to afford this kind of spa, you will not be disappointed. The few B&W photos are from the early 1960s when the building was owned by the S.C.J. Priests and Brothers.

Beautiful property that's great for a retreat. The rooms are nice, the beds really comfortable. The programs are very good. I focused on aerobic, weight and yoga type classes. Lots of other lifestyle type classes and seminars also available.

This place offers EVERYTHING you could ask for in a spa--for a price. There are better places for a la carte service but their all inclusive packages really can't be beat in this area. BEAUTIFUL facility, top-notch staff and a gated facility so you feel safe. If you are looking to spend thousands of dollars on yourself for a day, weekend or longer for a pampering or intense training in the most serene, private and exclusive of environments in the berkshires, look no further...

There are not any words sufficient enough to describe my experience at Canyon Ranch Lenox. It was a beautiful and life-changing experience. Wellness being my number one priority I could not have asked for a better place to refresh, relax, restore and reflect.

Canyon Ranch surpassed all my expectations. I left enriched with a sense of well being that continues to permeate my life. I intend to be back as soon as possible and as often as possible. Thank you, Canyon Ranch!

Canyon Ranch In The Berkshires is a very unique place. A destination spa with a twist that hasn't been copied by any other spa - a medical aspect. The doctors on staff have a unique, wholistic approach to medicine. Many have come to The Ranch with medical issues that have dogged them for years. These people have gone to doctor after doctor at home with no success. They come to The Ranch and the doctors there will nail it in a weekend. It's amazing! The massage therapists are all top notch, they have really great lectures, you can take crafting classes where you make gorgeous scarves and jewelry, several excersise classes each hour, manis, pedis, hair. The outdoor sports staff will take you on great hikes, bikes or kayaking trips. They have begun to offer cosmetic enhancements such as botox and Kybella. There is SO much more! Go!

I went for a health retreat and couldn't be happier with the results. I can't believe how much I didn't know and how much personal insight I received in just 5 days. If you care about your overall health and well-being, this place is where you should go.
