The museum was very interesting. I went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't very busy.
The museum was very interesting. I went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't very busy.
Museum is interesting. But, they could use some older veterans as volunteers. The Museum of Science and industry has 600 volunteers. Perhaps if the Museum HR mgr. Was an older more experienced person....
Great pretty place. Tanks kids can climb on encourages kids to learn about history.
Me and my family go every year and we always have a blast at the museum the gardens and most importantly the tanks and mansion
Picnic or watch a concert under the shade of giant trees. Beautiful!
As always this is a great place to visit for young and old. Just $5 per car, during the pandemic make sure to reserve time for the museum, well worth it. The grounds are well maintained and offer hours of great views and gardens For the more adventurous crowd the tanks that scatter across are all accessible to climb on!
Make sure to walk all the way to the back of the gardens and past the Army tank displays to find this gorgeous building. Inside are masterful interactive displays, you must experience to learn about the wars they depict. Spans WW I & II, Vietnam & the Middle East. The gardens were one of the most magnificent that I have ever seen...truly breathtaking & so well cared for.
If you are a history buff you have to visit and maybe help out
This place is a gem. The museum is first rate. Nothing like walking through a World War I trench or the Normandy beaches. The tank park is cool. The kids love to climb them. If you get a chance, tour McCormick's house as well. It is fascinating. Beautiful landscaping and gardens, too. Cantigny offers many events throughout the year as well.
Great place for a walk and rest from a city. Nice garden, lots of flowers and trees.
First Division Museum is a fascinating look at our involvement in WWI, WWII and Vietnam. A must for history buffs, this makes great use of archival footage and dioramas. The grounds/gardens are spectacular. Can't wait to return for some of the special programs and events.
Currently a lot of construction behind the visitor center cutting off the museum from the house and gardens.
Nice place and beautiful plants, but more than half of the park is closed for remodeling. If you don't have an annual pass, you probably would be better off waiting a year or so until you access more of the park.
A great place to enjoy a beautiful day, see the sights and learn some history.
My last visit in fall was much better for picture taking. Will must come back in fall.
This place is awesome, you can walk around and enjoy the gardens then go and climb on tanks. There are also spent for picnics and enjoy your time there, also the museums there are fantastic.
We live Cantigny. The grounds are beautiful, the volunteers do an amazing job teaching, the museum is very well done, and there are a lot of great activities there!
This place is the best place to visit if you are a history buff
It's been a blast,we've been here every year and nice remodeling
great place to visit any time of year. love the movie nights..
We come here once or twice a year for their Vintage Baseball tournaments. Beautiful grounds and history museum make for a great afternoon. You gotta at least have an ice cream at their coffee bar, too.
A bit cool today and they have seemed to really opened up the place a lot more since last time I was here.
Fun and great history. Something for every age here
You can climb on tanks, take a tour of the McCormick house, go through the museum, check out the gardens, and go to political events. I've been here for a wedding and they do a wonderful job. Great place to spend the day.
This park is a good time. We enjoy it during the fall when the trees are changing colors.
What a beautiful park but the bonus is the
First Division Museum ! The U.S. Army s 1st Infantry Division Museum is AMAZING!! Must see!
Beautiful park. Full of history! Highly recommended
Beautful Gardens, fascinating historical mansion and impactful museum.
The 30 min or 1 hr tour are a must... Very interesting and informative!
So many tanks. Great way to enjoy a history lesson.
I love this place always have something different. This place is great to take pictures.
Such a fun place to visit with the family. So many options to take some really nice natural shots. Feels peaceful. I would visit this place again.
Gardens are fantastic and the museums are well worth it. 5$ to park is fantastic family oriented
Even a trolly to help you to get around if you don't feel like walking. Recommend you visit not on the weekend since it gets crowded
Love Cantigny!! Nice relaxing stroll through beautiful gardens. The mansion tour is cool! Great place for weddings and birthday parties.
I wandered around the Gardens for the museums with my husband it was beautiful! The band was a nice addition
Place is wonderful, educational, peaceful, great for walking, lots of shade!
Great local private park. Gardens, picnic area, and military themed museums. Worth a visit especially if you're into the armed forces.
This place is a very good memorial to the 1st division. It is educational and worth a visit. It costs five dollars to park but everything else is free. It is a great place to bring your family
Have been going there forever. Brought our kids there as they were growing up and now we go with the grandkids. Very educational lots of room for the kids to run climb on tanks. Great place to visit
I went there for a school field trip and it was awesome!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful gardens, peaceful. Friendly employees and clean buildings.
Beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors. Lovely formal gardens and walking paths. House and museum were closed, but awesome nonetheless.
Tour the Gardens, Mansion, & Museum, & Climb the Tanks!
Cantigny is one of our favorite parks with acres of beautiful gardens, the McCormick Mansion, the extraordinary Big Red One First Division US Army Military Museum, and dozens of tanks and vehicles you can climb. All of this only costs $10 a carload!
We love the manicured park and gardens and the wide variety of flowers and trees. (See photos.) The stunning 35-room mansion was the home of Colonel Robert McCormick, former Chicago Tribune publisher.
The Mansion is open most days for tours. It was cool seeing where scenes from Tom Hank s "A League of Their Own" were shot. The Museum exhibits are fun and are being updated but your kids may just want to spend the day playing on the tanks. (More photos!) Plus there is a golf course, another museum, playgrounds, a gift shop and restaurant.
Secret: Scout Troops or Packs can still camp here each weekend! So much to explore. Cantigny is usually open daily except in January and is about 30 miles west of Chicago.
Clean park , lots of fun things for kids and beautiful gardens for adults to enjoy.
Visited for the December Lego show and was also able to see part of the 1st Division exhibit. Both were excellent.
A family destination that appeals to guys and girls, older folks and young Super elegant gardens with many walking paths and a WW1 museum with several tanks. The gardens and parkways are the best local place for wedding and engagement photo shoots. They have unique wind chimes in a few places and the sound creates a mystical ambiance. The grounds have a Rose garden, educational garden to help you up your own gardening game, and a prarie area that's great for a quiet walk. Lots of kids were impressed with the WW1 Museum, and that's saying something! The staff are amazing, and they have several garden and museum events throughout the year, including a bring your dog day!
Super clean and great place to spend the day with the family with lots to do. Museum is a must.
Always a treat to work or enjoy a day with family there , im a wedding photographer and it is the best place for pictures
Cantigny has a variety of activities for everyone. Every year they do a Revolutionary War reenactment. This includes several people dressed up in Revolutionary War style clothing, a tent city which replicates the time period and several time period demonstrations (candle stick maker, black smith etc.). They also do battle reenactments, canon demonstrations, troop formations, etc. This is a great way to teach your children history. The schools teach it out of a book, but to actually see in person what is in the books is pretty cool and leaves a lasting impression. They have also had WWII and Civil War reenactments in the past.
Great place to explore for both kids and adults! Museum, tanks, flowers and trees are always so beautiful every season! If you are a Veteran, get a membership/pass at the museum for a minimal fee to get unlimited access to the park. Cafe is good too although you can bring your food for a nice picnic. At the moment, some areas are closed due to renovations.
Great place to go. Love the gardens and the museum. And only 2 bucks when the museum is closed!
Only 5 dollars to park and it was the best 5 dollars i spent at the museum
Hadn't been here in over twenty years. What a beautiful place to walk around and learn something at the same time. The sand sculpture included sand imported from the beaches of Normandy. I was in awe standing before it.
I've been going to Cantigny since the early 90s, and now love to take my toddler. The tanks and museum still take my breath away!
It's always a great place to visit but especially when there are events.
I always tell people I basically live at Cantigny because I am always finding excuses to go back! Cantigny literally makes me so happy- I feel at peace walking through the beautiful, unique gardens, and I am filled with awe of our country every time I go through the museum. I always learn something new when I go. The tank park is so fun in the summer, especially if you have kids that like to climb! The cafe/restaurant is delish! The gardens are always improving. Each time I go is a new experience. I celebrated my 18th birthday here, (best decision ever) and I often return with friends or with family. I have yet to visit during the colder months...but during each season, the park displays a different kind of beauty. If you haven t been, it s a must-see! Bring the whole family for a picnic, or walk peacefully on your own through the gardens.
Wonderful gardens to tour and very well planned war museum. Nice arrangement of tanks around the museum.
Great place for the boys to climb to their hearts content very informative museum on site.
I didnt even go to this place idk why it asked me to rate it
If WW II history , TANKS and flowers ponds and beautiful gardens excite you. This is the place , beyond beautiful and interesting. 5.00 per car to get in. Throw some money around buy some stuff and all tips go to museum.
Great place recommend coming and bring your cameras for those great nature pictures!!
My son really enjoyed playing on and around tankers. Not too big but nice rose garden and really good flowers & vegitation garden.
Best place for portrait photoshoot. Lot of different background options.
Pretty place. We waited an hour and a half for wings during the food truck event. It's all about the journey not the destination. We left right after getting them. We only had time for that. It twas good.
Great place to go and learn about history what the war and our veterans done for our freedom
