A really neat park and museum to visit. The gardens are great to walk through. You can stroll across the grounds. You are able to get up close to the tanks. The museum is great at showing the history of The Big Red 1. Staff is so helpful and friendly. Awesome little gift shop, snack shop, and restaurant on the park grounds as well. This a park that you can spend all day at.

It was a good adventure. We walked the outer hiking path at around 2 miles and then spent another hour wandering around the gardens. Coincidentally there was a Revolutionary War re enactment going on as well. much fun to be had.

Beautiful and fun for adults and kids! Grounds are amazing, restrooms are clean and staff is friendly and willing to help get you from point A to point B. The 1st Division Military museum is a MUST SEE. We will be back, as 3 hours with kids is only enough time to see a small portion of the grounds and museum...had to let the kids play on the tanks! Such a lovely place....thank you McCormick Foundation.

This place is free besides the 5 dollars for parking. The sprawling gardens are stunning, with several types of butterflies and birds. They have a pathway with military tanks dating back from the Revolutionary war up to more modern tanks. Anyone is welcome to climb on them and take great pictures! They also have a war meusem that's incredibly interactive as it takes you through the different wars throughout history making you feel like you're actually there! There is plenty to do here to fill up a day with your family and a lot of scenic spots for fantastic pictures.

Simply wonderful. I have been coming here since I was a small child. Now, thirty years later, I keep bringing my three children here to experience this hidden gem.

Tanks. Beautiful grounds. Tanks. Spectacular museums. Tanks. Rich history. Did I mention the TANKS?

Fantastic!

Newer exhibits help to highlight the experiences of our brave servicemen and women, including goggles to put you in their shoes in recent ops. Respectful and actual representation. Unique inexpensive indoor experience in history from WW1 to present.
Just pay for parking, entrance fees free.
Also nice snack/lunch options. New playgrounds...outdoor summer concerts.
Beautiful gardens to wander spring to fall.
Tanks and cannons to explore. Mansion tours during spring to fall as well.

Cantigny is a hidden treasures to be sure and worth a visit when you come to Chicago. Whether it's a peaceful walk in the gardens, climbing on an Abrams Tank or an educational and moving trip through the First Division Museum, Cantigny has something for everyone. Bring a picnic basket and make a day of it.

I've taken my children here since they were little. They are teenagers now and visiting Cantigny is a mainstay of our summer adventures still. There is nothing like the peaceful gardens, the tanks, the open blue sky, the big house, the war museum. It never tires our curiosity. We are so lucky to have this wonderful museum close by.

Cantigny is an awesome place for locals and visitors. Seriously, who doesn't love climbing tanks? The history of the 1st ID is fascinating, and the recent upgrades are great (new playground and VR exhibits). Parking isn't expensive, and is free to military connected folks. Movie nights in the park are a nice touch and the gardens are beautiful.

If you love history or you love flowers, Cantigny ...

If you love history or you love flowers, Cantigny Park is a beautiful place to enjoy both. If you have kids between 7 to 12, there is a lot for them to see. Pay for parking, but admission to the Park's museums is free. The estate of the late editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune, who started WGN radio and WGN TV, Colonel Robert T. McCormick, has been maintained as a legacy and a monument to the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. The museum is devoted to the role of the Big Red 1 in wars from WWI to WWII to Vietnam, Desert Storm, Afghanistan and Iraq. The guided tour of the house is a treasure trove for any history buff.

This place is always awesome. Now I'm passing it on to my daughter. They have activities for everybody. When the weather is good is really when the park shines because they have so much to offer outside. Most of what they have links to history in some way. So it's also a great learning experience as well.

Fun place to visit, bring the family for the parks, gardens, and museums too. Great little piece of Chicago history in our own back yard with a great story behind it. $5 to park and everything else was free, minus the golf course.
