Lost my passport and wallet in a taxi, called the embassy in the morning and they were immensely helpful. Luckily it had been dropped off at a police station nearby and they had told the embassy. Got detailed instructions on how to get it back. Very grateful.

Very friendly and helpful staff, from the security to the administrators. It's also a very interesting building. Solid granite and towering ceilings. I causes one to reflect on the immensity of the country and it's cold and beautiful natural landscape.

The staff are friendly, competent and helpful when visiting the Embassy but the website is not informative and has contradicting information. They should also provide immigration services as well which they don't and email replies are extremely slow. The Embassy don't call you back to notify you that your passport is ready to be picked up during Passport renewals, this has happened to both myself and a Canadian friend as well.

Incompetent, confused and at time border line rude staff. First time i had experience I brushed it off as one of those days, but now after a second time i am sure in what I said in first sentence. Feels like they are to serve Japanese students who want to cash out to study in Canada while we as Canadians are treated as cattle. This needs to change.

I am a Canadian citizen stranded in Tokyo with my girlfriend right before a Typhoon and there isn t a single person to help? The woman I spoke to was like a broken record and kept telling me to send an inquiry email. When a typhoon is about to hit I don't think that's the best way to address my concerns. Do they genuinely think it s okay to ignore citizens like this?

I entered the Canadian embassy at Aoyama / Blue Mountain station on the Yamanote line (green), to have certain documents processed once. and was struck in my head by the cool style architecture of the Embassy.

Maybe I liked it right away because I'm from southern Blue Mountain Ontario. Anyway, cool place, cool architecture, near Aoyama station, it feels like the south side of the station, but not really because the Yamanote Sen (green) is a circle.

Rumor has it that the architect who designed the embassy is a famous Canadian who also designed the Scarborough Town Center to look like an iceberg.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you very much for the above ..., Google Translate

My 5 year old son got stuck in Japan because Canada changed the reentry requirement for Dual Canadian citizens returning to Canada, we tried to get help from the embassy in Tokyo but the staff were hard to get a hold of, left several messages and when they did finally call back we were out and they said we would have to call back and leave another message, and when we did finally get to talk to someone they were not very helpful at all!

Invited to an event for bloggers from Alberta who took care of me before,
I went to the Canadian Embassy for the first time.
I have visited several embassies in Japan, but from the entrance to the building,
This is the first time that there was a slightly unique escalator.
The night view in the direction of Roppongi was also beautiful, making me feel very luxurious.

Note that this is related to my personal experience with the Consular Section of the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, and not an in person visit.

In my particular case, a request that I had made to the Canadian Consulate in Osaka was forwarded to the Consular Section of the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo.

After the initial contact, it took a little bit of effort to get some traction in regards to my request given that the Consular Section had to consult with the Global Affairs Canada department.

All the exchanges were via email with a staff member(s).

Overall the interaction was very professional and handled with due diligence.

Numerous visits over numerous years, and the staff has very low knowledge of Canada. Information over the phone and in person is contradictory. And after 3 1/2 years still dealing with the same paperwork between Canada and Japan. There is no Canadian citizens available to Canadians in person unless you get the chance to meet the Military Police. The only way to get someone to speak with in the consular section is to literally repeat dozens of times that you would like to speak with the Ambassador Ian... . This is the 3rd oldest diplomatic "mission" of Canada, it is quite inadequate while being very frustrating, however Canadians are paying for a nice Art gallery in the basement which is sparesly populated with Art. The library is somewhat impressive but not sure if you can actually borrow anything from it.
