Very simple campsite that does not turn away visitors, staff very friendly and courteous to us
Fairly large campsite on the water. With live music on Saturdays. Facilities available but not used. Many days of people who come to sunbathe and swim
Simple in design
The place is nice on the other hand the staff are disastrous and the spirit of the campsite is quite mediocre
We were 14 days at the campsite and unfortunately had to go home today. Highly recommended for families with children. Children up to 12 years can shower for free in the "children's bath" !!! These showers are with light effects and with 2 different wasserstuffen !!! We will definitely be back at Easter thanks for being there and everything was so great
The campground was far too crowded, there was no privacy and between two vehicles it wasn't even a hand's breadth. Everything is too tight and you feel like an oil sardine.
The toilets were not always clean. And I find the warm showers with 1 for 4min too expensive. I award a star for the direct location on the lake.
All in all, however, we will not be going back.
The location is great. Apart from the fact that the railway and the main road, go directly over. The showers were clean. The place makes a very verbastelten impression. In my opinion very expensive. Alone the tourist tax (operator of course can not help it) is 5 per person per day. There should be influence on the city administration. 3 days for almost 100 , is too much for this campsite, and you can not even pay by card.
Camping site with direct lake access, but that's the only thing that can be rated positively.
The place is not parceled out so that the vehicles and cells are instructed / placed as close as possible (Corona is a foreign word). Every free space is marketed. Privacy is impossible.
The instructing staff is arrogant and unfriendly when asked to find a better place. One has the feeling of being a paying but undesirable customer. The main thing is that the cash register is right.
It was the first and last time.
Not terrible Too expensive shower fee with tokens home not kind and payment only in cash
Except for the last night, our stay at the campsite was really a very successful holiday. There is a small sandy beach right next to the campsite, toilets and showers are very clean, food tastes good, price-performance ratio is right. Stand up paddling was well explained and was a nice experience.
However, there is a star deduction, because our neighbors had a party last night and the music was on until 1, the bass pressed and our immediate neighbors chatted and laughed loudly until 5 in the morning (!).
It was only very late that something was done about it. Nobody could sleep in adjacent tents. The campsite staff should actually run around at night and point out the noise level. Early enough and not just at 5 in the morning ...
After our arrival (in the main season) we waited about 30 minutes until we were assigned a seat. We responded to our request not to camp too close to the youth meadow. The toilets and showers were clean at all times of the day and night. The breakfast at the kiosk was very tasty and also reasonably priced. All lake accesses are sanded. In the morning, great effort was made to clear all areas of the beach from all debris.
2 suggestions for improvement:
1. On the tent field, especially in the main season, you should pay attention to a little more tent arrangement. At the end of the day it was hardly possible for us to get to the toilet without tripping several times.
2. The casual approach to registration may be very pleasant for many and you will certainly have fun. However, you should sometimes react a little more seriously or more sensitively to inquiries (even if they come from young people).
All in all, we had 3 really great days here. We will come back next year.
Nice location and facilities good but no defined pitches and very much a cram as many into the space as possible. That said I did get a direct view onto Bodensee but no space to put up an awning.
I ask the following question:
What should a campsite look like that satisfies especially the younger tent visitors with the many negative and irrelevant reviews? Is that possible? If so, this would probably not be the place where we wanted to spend our days off.
We are very satisfied here and therefore come to this campsite a lot.
I was in a very dusty place and not flat, but the surroundings were beautiful
On the phone very, very briefly as well as unfriendly
You can get to the lake without any problems
Eat good
Clean sanitary facility
Very nice staff
Experience of a young adult who was here twice with his mates for a good time.
The night watchman sends you into the tent like in the children's camp at 12 although we were quiet, as a loo at the campground, a loo store and exaggerated rubbish separation regulations. You don't feel really wanted at the reception.
And the muddy entrance into the water at the beach on the site doesn't make anything better.
Not recommended in our opinion.
best regards
Top campsite, great location, clean and well maintained, prices are cheap, always happy again, in the main season should be reserved, unfortunately, the experience and we had to continue.
Not suitable for large campers, trees on path to access. Many people, small places.
Nice campsite right on Lake Constance. The place is in the middle of a nature reserve and offers enough space for tents and caravans.
Huts are also rented out. These are small and spartan, but very cozy.
The place attaches great importance to sustainability. So you have to e.g. Strictly separate the garbage, which is also controlled.
The restaurant attached to the square offers a good mix of German and Thai food, which is also available as take-away.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Very good campsite. There is a separation between young people and families. So the youngsters can celebrate nicely and the families don't notice anything and have their peace. I can particularly recommend this place for young people, as I was able to enjoy it very much myself. The security guards who keep things tidy in the evenings are also friendly. So if you want to go on holiday on Lake Constance and don't know where, come here! It was a really cool time here
NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!
Camping attendant throws people out with something excessive volume!
To all teenagers goes to other places !!!!
Minuses:
Many young people celebrating
Place totally overcrowded
Average sanitary facilities
Only rate the asian restaurant.
Great food and priced top, are probably quite economical with the glutamate.
Very crowded on weekends and little space for campers. But very friendly staff and delicious food on site.
A great place, they will almost always squeeze you somewhere so you can go spontaneously. There are no places on other campsites and goodbye when you go to the peak. Delicious breakfasts for 6 EUR only have to be ordered the day before. Great climate. Unfortunately, there is a downside that it is a branch of the lake and a lot of silt and the water is not as clear as in the main bodensee reservoir.
Friendly people you usually get a seat and there are many bands playing
The geographical location of the campsite is very appropriate, as it enables the campsite to have its own section of the shore and a clear view of Lake Constance. The sanitary facilities are satisfactory and relatively clean, the kiosk (which offers a morning breakfast menu) is well established and organized.
The "downsides" outweigh a bit, however, as excessive deposits have to be made for many additional amenities such as parking spaces and use of the sanitary facilities, and (especially for young people) the night watchmen and strictly regulated rest periods are restricted.
Very nice campsite, nice staff, clean toilets. Also the Thai food in the restaurant is good. Over Easter, the place was very crowded, but the operators have tried hard to find a place for everyone. Definitely recommended.
Not recommended for teenagers! As soon as the evening / night comes, the staff is very rude and threatens immediately with the police. 14 year olds are involved as security and you can not take them seriously! Have never had such a ridiculous experience as on this campsite! Toilets and showers are not really clean ..
Entertainment on and peaceful at the same time
Sweet.
We stayed 3 nights and regret it. Even the reception staff was unfriendly. We were assigned a place, but it was very small and you had the feeling of being in a narrow oil sadine. There wasn't even room to sit comfortably in front of the tent. Every day our pegs were removed by the site operator to narrow us down even more. Anyway, coming to the tent was a disaster due to the tight occupancy (tense ropes).
The management is good and cheap. However, the staff is overwhelmed with extra requests such as "no ketchup on the hamburger, or no onions on the salad" and you still got it. Complaints are ignored. I think that dealing with guests is disrespectful.
The cleaning staff only work minimally, only clean the floor and on hints, for example dirt, is annoyed and said it will be dirty again anyway ... the women's showers were full of hair and sand. The toilets don't look any better.
In addition, there is a barbecue everywhere close to tents or wagons, which sometimes leads to heavy smoke.
Sleep is a godsend because we only had one evening. The garbage is only allowed for 2 hours. Thrown in the bin during the day, which leads to garbage at the places. Above all, there are many families with small children on site and the diapers in particular should be able to be disposed of at any time of the day.
The location is great. Right on the lake. However, there is a railway line right by the campsite. The noise of the train didn't bother us, but the rails are freely accessible despite their proximity. The beaches are sometimes good sometimes not so good. Sometimes you sink very hard into the sand, a lot of algae or plants on the bank (don't know if I'm just too sensitive).
The plus point is clearly that you can reserve a campsite, this is what very few places do. Advance payment was offset.
In any case, we will no longer camp there or recommend the place to anyone.
Super unfriendly staff, the service is really little customer-oriented and very profit-oriented. As a bicycle traveler, we were put on the children's playground after a very busy day. This place was not a registered place and was very loud until late in the evening. There was only cold water from showering (despite paid coins) and the whole thing for a handsome price of almost 40 for a tent without electricity ... for us never again
The place was so full that you could not put up an awning / awning (no price consideration). Where else there was a camper, there were now two, the same at the tents - it was totally overcrowded.
The beach was littered with butts, coasters, pistachio shells etc.
The sanitary facilities are only roughly cleaned. With so many campers, this should be cleaned more often and properly. And then you have to pay for the shower tokens (1 for 4 minutes).
I don't want to eat in the restaurant on the square. If the sanitary facilities look like this, I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like.
The staff is very rude. You are not instructed but simply left standing.
Next time I would rather stand on the side of the road than leave money here again.
Very crowded, right on the street and right on the tracks, so it's always noisy. The toilets are old and unfortunately dirty. However, there is a direct lake access.
Toilets smelled a bit strong and therefore also in the showers.
The location on the lake is super nice, but everything else is lacking. Dirty sanitary rooms, narrow parking spaces and no consistent corona measures.
Great campsite and the rules are not too strict, which is extremely pleasant especially for young people.
Very nicely located campsite. The atmosphere and especially the lake access are great. The huts and the area facing the lake are ideal for families with (small) children. But it is also an ideal place for a short break with friends. In terms of price everything is very okay, camping, eating, drinking.
However, the Corona hygiene concept could be improved or monitored more closely. The sanitary facilities are OK, but there is definitely room for improvement. Therefore "only" 4/5 stars. Nevertheless, all in all, absolutely recommendable.
Absolutely not to be recommended!
Hygiene was not observed with regard to Corona, people with cold symptoms were in the sanitary facilities.
The campsite owner is very rude & is looking for reasons to keep the deposit - ad is out.
So far the restaurant is good.
You can't get more unfriendly! We called beforehand and should come over because there was space. At 3:30 p.m. we were unfriendly rejected with our motorhome because the space was full. Absolutely unreliable ..... you cannot rely on telephone statements .... you cannot reserve and this way of treating people is unacceptable.
26,000 square meters of space with a beautiful location right on the lake with its own beach, as usual on Lake Constance with gravel. The night in a motorhome with 2 people cost about 22 euros. The showers per person once again 1 euro. I would like it better if the night costs 24 euros and the showers would be included. The restaurant serves breakfast and from 12 noon German and Thai cuisine.
Very nice, relaxed atmosphere, cool people and always short ways to the lake
Nice campsite with a family atmosphere and great location!
There was no weekend visit because I have never had such an unfriendly first contact by phone. The one star only exists because otherwise I could not have posted!
We spent two nights there with a tent and camper. Because of our age (~ 25) we were put directly on the youth meadow. Without question, they probably assumed that we were four party-mad friends who didn't appreciate the night's rest. We were therefore exposed to sound from all sides throughout the night, since the canceled festivals had to be lived out by various youth groups at this campsite. Despite repeatedly pointing this out, nothing changed.
Since the garbage yard closes at 11.30 a.m., although you can check out until 12 a.m., we could not throw our garbage away and had to put everything away. We had to pay a whopping 100 deposit for various pieces of paper and chips for the sanitary area.
The direct access to the lake and the nature around it, through which one could walk, was nice, but the campsite couldn't take that away from us.
First of all, the place is really very nice and it is easy to get into the area by car. Unfortunately, now comes the big one: The unbelievably mischaunten staff, of which one is plucked at the smallest question has me spoiled finally the holiday mood! The sanitary facilities smell very unpleasant due to the externally placed pissuars, which can sometimes cause choking while they are being washed.
By and large, however, it makes the service at the front desk, which destroys the feeling.
The landscape is actually a great place, but the management is getting on in years. Unavailable by phone for days, reception opens late and closes again early. Garbage disposal on the square is only possible from 10 to 11:30 and 17:30 to 18:30. What if you come later and leave earlier? "Take garbage with you" was the answer ..., "or get rid of it anywhere"
The tents of the day guests are placed at a distance of only 0.5m from each other - but tents are soundproof and Corona is already over !?
Hot water for showering is only available for an extra cash, 4 minutes for 1 EUR.
The restaurant is great, offering Thai and regional cuisine at fair prices.
Therefore only 2 out of 5 stars.
Are you looking for a campsite for you and your group? Camping Schachenhorn has a lot to offer. Right from the start you will be greeted by the camping staff in an exclusive, unfriendly manner. After you have been moated for the first time because you do not know the dimensions of your tents in millimeters, you will be placed in the next best swamp between others. If you like to cuddle with strange neighbors, this is the place for you, because despite the high price, you don't get a place of your own. At the beginning of your vacation you are not sure how long the vacation should last? Do not worry! She will be kicked out of the Schachenhorn campsite at some point. If you have a weak bladder, you can train it here, because after midnight even going to the toilet counts as a disturbance. In summary, the Schachenhorn campsite is an ideal place to experience stress, overcrowding, dirt and bad mood on your own body and can end with the loss of the deposit.
Very close parking, damage during parking often arise here. The campsite is very crowded, the area provided is minimal. The prices for food and drink are very good.
Night watchman was a bit annoying, otherwise great location
Location is really great!
Staff is also very nice. The sanitary facilities were actually quite clean. Can I recommend.
Totally overcrowded, more parking space than a campsite and not exactly inviting
Not recommended for teenagers !! The owner is unfriendly gets into tents at night without warning and confiscates cell phones.
I don't even know where to start; the staff is (very) unfriendly, the sanitary facilities dirty and decorated with spiders. The pitches are much too small and generally the campsite is overcrowded to offer as much space as possible for campers. Garbage disposal also requires meticulous accuracy and only returnable bottles are collected for plastic.
The only plus point is the small but nice beach.
All in one: once and never again!
Not deluxe, but perfectly adequate, over the extended weekend the place was quite delivered. The location of the place in the nature reserve is beautiful, but right on Seestrasse and train tracks
We were in the wooden cabin Siam I at the back end of the campsite. Very rustic. Sanitary clean, kiosk the usual food. Breakfast not recommended. The train is right next to the square. Unfortunately not many places for bathing. Overall, a very nice, small place with atmosphere. For those who do not want the hustle and bustle of a large facility. Condition for longer stay recommended.
We went there for vacation, but left after only one day, because the toilets are really the last. Only when washing hands, it bends a stench, go to the bathroom with such a stench and dirt ???, NEVER! In addition, the rather unfriendly staff treated the younger guests rude. The only positive thing about the whole holiday was the location, you could go swimming well in the lake, as there were nice swimming spots. We will not be back.
Beautiful, very interesting and well cared for and clean
A campsite to feel good. Very relaxed communicative atmosphere among employees and guests. If you come with a tent in the high season without a car, you cannot make a reservation, but the guide will almost always find a place for you. The campsite is 1.5 to 2 km apart between the districts of Bodman and Ludwigshafen in the countryside. Since the campsite lines the lake curve, almost all of the pitches are right on the water or at least with a view of the lake. The German and Thai food is good and inexpensive. A nice view from the beach and from the restaurant terrace. There are beautiful hiking routes on both sides.
The employees conscientiously paid attention to compliance with the corona rules in washrooms, in the restaurant area and at reception.
Overall verdict: I only wanted to stay one night, but ended up staying there all of my available time. And: I would come back anytime. :)
Catastrophe!
We wanted to spend a nice weekend at the lake with friends. After one night we were thrown off the pitch! Why? We do not know that either, because when we wanted to speak to the groundsman, he drove away incredibly unfriendly on his bike and said that there is no discussion. In addition, the 20 euro deposit was kept, even though we left the place clean.
Really outrageous, very hostile to youth and extremely profit-oriented!
Any time! !!!
Arrival with my two children, 5 and 12 in the caravan. Stayed here for 2.5 weeks in August and now for 4 days over 3.10.
Nice staff, sanitary facilities are OK, parking spaces are big enough, kiosk offers everything you need, food is OK
In short: unbeatable price, performance ratio.
The only small point of criticism: A little more could be offered for children.
Again here: August 2018
Great again!
Get out of the car again ....
Chilled again immediately ....
Once again in vacation mode ....
Thanks again to Richard, the campsite owner !!!!
Update July 2020:
The course operator Richard is great!
Although very crowded, you arrive, get out and ... is chilled and on vacation.
2 days with tent, wife and child.
See you again, no question ...
We felt comfortable here, for the shower brands there is deduction
After 2 nights at the campsite, I can partly understand the negative comments here. The pitches on the tent meadows were very narrow, so there was hardly any space between the tent walls - according to the Corona regulation, the usher apparently only has to pay attention to the distances between the tent exits.
The sanitary facilities are a bit old, but attention was paid to a certain basic cleanliness. Here, however, the operator should pay attention to more precise control of the mandatory face mask - hardly anyone wore a face mask to the toilet and Co.
Only the leaflet for young people / groups was a bit outrageous for us as mid-20s, as did the deposit that "young people" asked at the beginning.
In any case, the beautiful location directly on the shores of Lake Constance and the friendliness of the staff should be positively mentioned.
Well located campsite. Right on the lake, the Lake Constance cycle path on the doorstep. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the space was completely overcrowded, so the parking spaces were very small. The sanitary facilities were correspondingly overcrowded. Good for the operator, not so nice for the guests. Even if a lot had to be done in retrospect for the cash register for 2020.
Just a great place to come again and again, especially because of the quiet location and direct access to Lake Constance
Great natural campsite right on the lake.
Clean, friendly, well-kept. Starting point for cycling , hiking , paddling ... that's all you need!
Even at times of storm and stress, everything is easy and relaxed, from staff to visitors.
Public barbecue area and playground.
Gladly again!!!!
If you can't find a place on Lake Constance, you'll find one here. You really try. Unfortunately a bit too tight in Corana times.
Very good campsite with good facilities. You have everything you need here. The only downside that you get from 8:15 clock Broetchen. Price also normal. You can rent StandUp Paddle here. Or bring your own equipment.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
For the prices super food man can not say price performance top prices as in the snack giant portions
Simple simple place, a bit cramped and overcrowded in my eyes, otherwise everything is there what you need ... not so great for me, but it was well visited
No respect for Covid-19 rules. Even without Covid-19, 0.5 m distance between tents would be bad. The owner was a weird and unfriendly guy with a beer. Everything was extremely dirty. The service building was full of people dirt, insects, hair, spiders and probably diseases. The restaurant served me the worst Schnitzel I have ever eaten. I really thought it was rubber. And with all that, it was on the expensive side. Other campings on the Lake Constance we visited were much better and still cheaper.
Very overcrowded, here is one on the other. The sanitary facilities are very habituation needy and could be renovated. Right next to our stand, the train is driving long, from 4:30 in the morning until 00:00 at night. For the price in any case again.
Were absolutely not recommendable for 3 nights. On arrival the staff says that we should be quiet and quiet from 10 p.m. and from 0 a.m. is absolute bed rest, but then a tent party is made until 2 a.m. and nobody says or controls. On the last day, however, be super correct and check everything. In addition, everything is close together. Health department should have a look
The night watchman lives up to its name and stifles every emerging cosiness from 9:30 pm. Actually nice place, however, we were looking forward to sociable camping and have therefore left early.
The breakfast was very good, the space and the showers / toilets were clean and the overall price was great.
Unfortunately there is no possibility to go swimming with the dog, you have to walk a bit (approx. 800m).
Not recommended / not recommendable
First of all, I would like to address both the positive and the negative aspects of our stay in this assessment. Not everything was completely bad (which one could assume if one reads the numerous negative reviews. Unfortunately, there is still something to it in many points).
I want to start with the positive. The location is very nice, it is easy to get to Ludwigshafen and there is a separate lake access.
In addition, it is convenient that there are no reservations. Many other campsites run out of space, even if you book weeks in advance.
Now, however, I have to come to the negative experiences that made our stay at the campsite an unpleasant holiday.
It already started on arrival. We found an endless line at reception. Arrival and departure is insufficiently organized. We waited what felt like an eternity before we were allowed to go to the square.
There is also no computer system at the reception that records the guests. Everything is regulated here manually with index cards. This leads to enormous waiting times. When we had a question about our booking during our camping stay, we first had to look for our index card (duration: 10 minutes). Organization works differently, it works like 30 years ago.
The topic of "data protection" is obviously written very small on this campsite. If you want to park your car in the adjacent parking lot, you have to fill out a parking ticket (with your first and last name) and put it in the car. Problem: About ten other guests had already filled out the same parking ticket with us. We knew our predecessors by their first and last names, which was almost uncomfortable for us.
Furthermore, I noticed negatively that most of the employees appeared stressed and were very unfriendly. I can well imagine that they have a lot to do in their daily work and that they can rarely really rest. However, this does not justify unfriendly behavior towards guests who spend money on the campsite and secure jobs. Not only we, but also many other guests were simply turned away for simple inquiries at the reception or at the kiosk, in the middle of a conversation with guests the windows were quickly closed, etc.
The staff in the adjoining restaurant were also very unfriendly, you simply didn't feel welcome.
Overall, the campsite was overcrowded. Tents were lined up close together, one caravan next to the other. The next one was already standing next to our camper about 2 meters away. This did not guarantee privacy. The campsite owner instructed the caravans in order to maximize profit as much as possible and not to secure the privacy of the guests or to comply with corona regulations.
Apropos Corona: Unfortunately, no corona measures were noticed on the camping site. There was no mask requirement anywhere, and, as already mentioned, the campsite was extremely overcrowded. A mask did not even have to be worn in the sanitary facilities. The only measure was a disinfectant dispenser that was set up on a door directly in front of the sanitary facilities.
What I also noticed negatively is the fact that in an involuntary and contemptuous manner, young people are directed from the campsite by the campsite owner with a certain regularity. One day the owner proudly announced that he had thrown 40 young people off the site. Allegedly because of disturbance of the night's sleep. Neither we nor other guests noticed anything. The deposit was then apparently withheld. I suspect a scam behind this to earn additional money.
In my opinion, the behavior of the seat owner is simply not correct. I don't want to support that in the future either, it was definitely my last vacation there.
