Not recommended / not recommendable
First of all, I would like to address both the positive and the negative aspects of our stay in this assessment. Not everything was completely bad (which one could assume if one reads the numerous negative reviews. Unfortunately, there is still something to it in many points).
I want to start with the positive. The location is very nice, it is easy to get to Ludwigshafen and there is a separate lake access.
In addition, it is convenient that there are no reservations. Many other campsites run out of space, even if you book weeks in advance.
Now, however, I have to come to the negative experiences that made our stay at the campsite an unpleasant holiday.
It already started on arrival. We found an endless line at reception. Arrival and departure is insufficiently organized. We waited what felt like an eternity before we were allowed to go to the square.
There is also no computer system at the reception that records the guests. Everything is regulated here manually with index cards. This leads to enormous waiting times. When we had a question about our booking during our camping stay, we first had to look for our index card (duration: 10 minutes). Organization works differently, it works like 30 years ago.
The topic of "data protection" is obviously written very small on this campsite. If you want to park your car in the adjacent parking lot, you have to fill out a parking ticket (with your first and last name) and put it in the car. Problem: About ten other guests had already filled out the same parking ticket with us. We knew our predecessors by their first and last names, which was almost uncomfortable for us.
Furthermore, I noticed negatively that most of the employees appeared stressed and were very unfriendly. I can well imagine that they have a lot to do in their daily work and that they can rarely really rest. However, this does not justify unfriendly behavior towards guests who spend money on the campsite and secure jobs. Not only we, but also many other guests were simply turned away for simple inquiries at the reception or at the kiosk, in the middle of a conversation with guests the windows were quickly closed, etc.
The staff in the adjoining restaurant were also very unfriendly, you simply didn't feel welcome.
Overall, the campsite was overcrowded. Tents were lined up close together, one caravan next to the other. The next one was already standing next to our camper about 2 meters away. This did not guarantee privacy. The campsite owner instructed the caravans in order to maximize profit as much as possible and not to secure the privacy of the guests or to comply with corona regulations.
Apropos Corona: Unfortunately, no corona measures were noticed on the camping site. There was no mask requirement anywhere, and, as already mentioned, the campsite was extremely overcrowded. A mask did not even have to be worn in the sanitary facilities. The only measure was a disinfectant dispenser that was set up on a door directly in front of the sanitary facilities.
What I also noticed negatively is the fact that in an involuntary and contemptuous manner, young people are directed from the campsite by the campsite owner with a certain regularity. One day the owner proudly announced that he had thrown 40 young people off the site. Allegedly because of disturbance of the night's sleep. Neither we nor other guests noticed anything. The deposit was then apparently withheld. I suspect a scam behind this to earn additional money.
In my opinion, the behavior of the seat owner is simply not correct. I don't want to support that in the future either, it was definitely my last vacation there.
