Great entertainment! Enjoyed the 15 minute show of the camera obscura, although view wasn't brilliant due to rainy and cloudy weather. Still interesting and the exhibition was fabulous! Lots of things to explore which were great fun. Fascinating games and illusions for young and old!

The illusionals are totally mind boggling, and those fart chairs really makes weird sound.
I enjoyed mental illusions, it totally captured my mind...

First looks may incline one to think this is just a tourist trap, but it's not. A bit of unique history surrounds the location, which they're happy to tell you about. This is a great stop on a rainy day, for adults and kids alike...but do yourself a favor and visit when the sun is out so you can get the full experience of the Camera Obscura!

Camera Obscura is a must visit place in Edinburgh. Full of fun and amazing things to experience there with friends and family. We spent a good 4-5 hours inside. Loved the Mirror maze, Infinity Corridor and boy oh boy "The Vortex Tunnel"

Fun & educational, could have stay longer well worth the entrance fee. Went with a 9 year old a 18 year old a 52 year old and an engineer. They all loved the show & the exhibitions.

Lots of floors of interactive fun hands on activities for young and old. Great views of Edinburgh, especially the castle. Not particularly cheap and no family ticket but you could go in and out all day if you wanted. You get booked into the camera obscura at the top where they do some fun things while showing you Edinburgh projected onto a wooden circular table. Great day out for the family. Been a couple of times now, once when my daughter was about 5 and this year just before her 15th.

Beautiful place to visit. Kids enjoy the most. Adults become kids . Worth spending time here. Entertaining throughout the exhibit. Loved the 15 minutes of explanation about camera obscura, which means dark room/box at the end of the exhibit. Knowledgeable guides who are kind enough to answer all the questions.

We had a real great day out here. Very good for all the family to enjoy. Not too expensive. Just walking up the mile street was good. Watching all the street artists in what they do. Going in and out the shops was fun. Edinburgh has plenty to look for and visit. Never a dull day. Do your home work before you go you'll not get lost. People are friendly. It's good to talk. Talk plenty of photos. We even got photos taken with an owl too.

Amazing place with lots of weird and wonderful illusions. If your scared of spiders watch out on the animal level.
I think there could have been more on the actual camera, how it works and maybe a short history of it.

Kids loved this place so much they insisted their Grandparents took them back there when we were back in Edinburgh. Spent hours exploring all the levels with loads of practical interactive exhibits. The actual camera obscura at the top was OK, but if you can't get tickets for that still do the museum its amazing.

This is an excellent place to bring kids during a visit to Edinburgh. There are lots of interactive displays and all sorts of fun for the family. The view from the top is excellent. Be prepared for a ton of stairs, but if you're in Edinbrugh you're probably used to it.

Been here twice. First time really quiet. Second time kinda busy with kids and families. Regardless of the crowds I had so much fun. It's very interactive and the staff are super helpful and friendly. Keep it up guys!

This place is awesome, the highlight of my trip to Edinburgh. Lots of things to do and you get a great 360 view of the city too. Would recommend to anybody. Attractions inside include optical illusions, funky mirrors, mirror mazes, interactive games and much much more. I think there's around 5 floors in total. You also get to go out to the roof and get a good outside view of the city which is great for photos. Then of course, you get to use the Camera Obscura too - the staff who give demonstrations are really helpful. If you're in Edinburgh, 100% you should go.

Easily one of the highlights for our kids on our trip when we visited Edinburgh. Probably takes 45 to 90 minutes to make your way through the exhibits...kids won't want to stop at each exhibit and some of the exhibits are variations on a similar theme, so spending more than a few minutes per concept was a tough "ask" for our kids. The show at the top with the camera was very well done. Stand up on the upper level to watch the show, and you'll get glorious air conditioning from the vents behind and above you! The mirror maze and the mind boggling rotating light display tube were the real attraction for our kids...they maybe went on them three or four times each. Tickets are good for the day, so you can come and go if you want a break or to see the castle/shop in between or if it gets too crowded.

Great fun.

Great fun.

Camera Obscura is a museum over several floors dedicated to visual illusion and other curiosities, with a camera obscura at the top of the building providing views over Edinburgh city. The museum operates a "ticket valid all day" system if you want to break up your visit.

For kids and adults alike there are many interactive displays and tricks which will entertain you for a few hours if you experience them fully, which range from holographic displays to a mirror maze. Take your camera. My partner and I were giggling all the way round, it was great fun. Staff are very friendly and attentive, with high levels of customer service.

This was clearly a venue for school trips, and was busy the day we attended; so please be aware that the exhibits can get busy. Still great fun however. One or two exhibits may not be suitable (scary/disorientating) for younger children (I'd estimate 4-9), but these can easily be avoided.

Great fun and highly recommended.

It was indeed a great place to visit. Lots to see and do. Lots of fun for a family outing or even as a couple. Tickets even give you unlimited access for the day so was great to go with kids and then later go as a couple. During the day it was busy and cramped at sections so I recommend going later at night when you can have time to enjoy the exhibits. Overall a fun experience. That tunnel needs to be tried a hundred times. It's great fun.

Really fun place to visit if you've got a few hours spare in Edinburgh. Start off with a show on the top floor of the 'camera obscura'. You can then take in views across the city from the rooftop before working your way down through all the displays on each level. Staff were friendly and helpful, explaining the exhibits along the way.

Really interesting stuff for a fun day out for all the family. It was very busy when I went and the wait time was still only about 10 minutes to get in. Be prepared to climb a lot of steps but it is well worth it

Big shout out to Lisa who was the camera obscura operator who made it both fun and educational. Would recommend.

A fantastic little gem of a place to visit up by the castle. Completely worth popping into, even if you've passed it on the way to the castle and a local.
It's got the 5 levels of beautiful illusions, mirrors, curiosities and general shenanigans. The top level being the roof with one of the best views in Edinburgh, it was absolutely glorious bring up there and enjoying looking over the wonderfully lit up city. If it had been day-time, I would have done a photosphere.

Some of my favourite things...
- The hall of mirrors, yes having to wear gloves was off-putting - but totally worth it! It was amazing in there.
- The infinite light room was something else. I could have just pitched a tent in there and been content!
- Shadow Art... Press the button, make a funny pose, wait for the flash, then admire the wall. So... Much... Fun!
- The little/large illusion room. Make a big person seem small and vice versa.
- The holograms... They're spooky and amazing. And remind me of when they were popular as necklaces and things when I was little. There's a beautiful one that has a Japanese girl spinning with a fan, it's a moving image one rather than one that you have to move to see it. Very cool.

I'll enjoy visiting again in the future. ^_^

A very nice interactive experience fit for all ages, Camera Obscura is a great place to start your Edinburgh experience. The staff was really friendly and funny, I totally recommend checking this place out. Thanks for the experience

Amazing place, especially for .... people of all ages as there are so many fun activities to do and so many interesting things to look at. I defenetley recommend visiting in the morning or close to evening as it may get crowded. Defenetley reccomend Camera Obscura at the very top; there are quite interesting guides that give you a "360 tour" of Edinburgh and explain the history behind it all. 10/10 must see.

Interesting exhibits on various illusions and optical puzzles. Perhaps not the most challenging for those knowledgeable in the world of physics, but good fun nonetheless. Google recommends 2 hours but didn't take quite that long: an hour and a half + 45minutes waiting (but it is February half term and the staff were good with updates and answering questions).
Liked the regularly placed hand sanitising stations, given the high volume of young ones.

Took my lad here while his sister and mum went on a Harry Potter tour, he thoroughly enjoyed it and hasn't stopped talking about his visit. There is lot's of hands on things to do to keep inquisitive minds interested.

Visual experience suitable for all ages. Got 10% off with one of exhibits/shows not being on. Mirrors, kaleidescopes and more to try out. The vortex tunnel will challenge your senses, so be warned!
Exhibits on the way up and downstairs so don't think the roof is the end of it. Amazing views from the roof. Only Edinburgh Castle could rival it

A great place both for adults and children. The main attraction is the Camera Obscura, but there are another 5 levels with attractions. Big thumbs up to the staff who provide kick-stools near all the exhibits so younger children can enjoy them. Once you have a ticket you can come and go as you please for the day (until 9pm).
