Great day out for the family, a little pricey and you realistically wouldn't spend more than 2hrs here. The camera thing on the roof was my personal highlight where you get to splat tourists! Worth a visit.
Good views from one of Edinburgh's oldest buildings
Wonderful discovery. Amazing experience and those views from the rooftop... Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended..
Excellent day out. Alot of fun my children loved it as did i. Such a beautiful setting, The Rotal mile, with roof top view of the city. Stunning.. Highly recommend it
Great science / museum and live session viewing Edinburgh through camera obscura. Wide range of interactive activities & viewable artefacts /science exhibits. Teens absolutely loved it, especially vortex tunnel and mirrored labyrinth. Staff friendly & very helpful. Lots of steps but equally, lots of seating/ rest stops available. Would recommend visiting in earlier part of day as can have long waiting times later. Plus, on way in you receive an all day hand stamp which allows you to exit/return as necessary.
A must do! Loads of fun . Very reasonably priced for the amount of attractions . Great views of Edinburgh from the roof terrace . The camera itself is incredible!
A collection of fun and quirky illusions. Good for kids and big kids alike. The repeat entry is cool, you can pop back later if it gets a bit busy.
Great place to visit with all the family. Lots of interactive things for the kids to do. We have been a couple of times now and the kids love it.
Obsolutely worth it. Only lost a star because they need to do much more to avoid people touching every single thing. Isn't very safe at this time. Apart from that little health and safety issue, can be enjoyed by both adults and children. We spent a long time there, and the view on the 6th floor is superb - old town & new town look great. As the name suggests, bring a camera!
A must see, especially good for children aged 7+ and is a lovely place to revisit even when older. I tend to go at least once a year and it never fails to entertain me.
Great place to play, good for big and small children. Adults even had fun to!!
4 year old had a great time with the illusions. Well set up to allow small children to operate most of the exhibits Educational and fun.
A must visit for anyone visiting Edinburgh looking for a bit of fun. Lots of fun magic/illusion themed 'exhibits' inside including a tunnel that's completely still but makes you really dizzy - it has to be seen for yourself! Make sure you visit on a clear day for the Camera Obscura part where they show you Edinburgh City Centre projected onto a table and zoom into people using magnification techniques. Quite clever considering it's old techniques and literally just using light and perspective. Fantastic views of Edinburgh from the outdoors top as well.
A really interesting and fun way to spend a few hours. Be sure to visit on a sunny day to make the most of it! A must on a visit to Edinburgh
Had an awesome time, there was so much so see and so much to do I was like a child in a candy shop.
Loved it, absolutely loved it. 6 floors of fun. The building is small but its jam packed full of stuff and each floor is different. I spent about 1 hour here but could have easily spent longer if I wasnt needing to be somewhere. Alright prices, decent gift shop and such friendly staff. What's also great is once you buy a ticket you can come back later o and go through it again as the ticket is valid until they close. Wish there was more of these.
Fab, interactive attractions for all ages. Amazing views over Edinburgh from the roof
Wasn't expecting this to be as much fun as it was. More than just the camera obscura. Staff are great fun too. Great way to spend a few hours on a rainy Edinburgh day
Good concept and a fun place for kids in an otherwise boring vacation place for them
Very interesting place that is easy to spend a long time in. Wonderful historic building with amazing views from the top. A bit haphazard with social distancing in places. Masks are mandatory and plenty of hand gel stations available.
Fun place to spend a few hours in! Especially for families.
Arrived in Edinburgh for the 2nd time - decided to do something different had a fab time -well worth it -value for money great customer service loved Simon and our reception lady from Dublin. All the best from CUMBRIA and Vienna. X
Great place to burn a couple of hours. It's great fun and very interesting.
It was so fun! We got to se the show and it was so beautiful. Also the mirror maze and the vortex was really cool!
Great place to go if you want to be amazed by wonders of light and image
Highly entertaining and educational experience, if you enjoy optical illusions! And the staff are really nice and helpful! Definitelly recommend visiting!
must visit. This place is located right across edinburgh castle and is fun for the whole family. But yes, You will have to climb 6 flights of stairs
Absolutely well worth the money, and a good chance to see Edinburgh from the rooftops! Highly recommend.
This place has some great exhibitions and just near the castle
Wonderful place to visit, give yourself at least 3 hours to really enjoy and appreciate all the exhibits and attractions
Great way to spend a couple of hours. Get there around midday if you can to get on one of the obscura tours of Edinburgh (Lisa was a great obscura guide!). Lots of fun to be had with the illusions and interactive art, the vortex tunnel is particularly ace.
What a great day very interesting and somewhere we never seen before. Good to see an unsaul place staff very helpful. Thank you.
Fabulous attraction and kids loved it Could spend hours in there
Well worth the price of admission, and the couple of hours you'll want to spend browsing the weird and wonderful illusions on display. Beginning with the camera obscura show itself (the only part you can't photgraph) and working your way down through the themed floors, there's plenty to keep adults and children alike absorbed here - though it was nearly all adults when we visited. Fascinating, amusing and mind blowing in equal measure. Highly recommended.
Great for the kids but even better for the adults. Had a fantastic day. Worth a visit for the vortex tunnel alone
This place was so cool! The definition of fun for all the family - we spent hours here! So much to do and the views from the top are absolutely stunning.
Very quirky and different to anything i have previously been in. Also there were staff walking round explaining the exhibits which was a nice touch. Would highly recommend.
One of the best place to enjoy with kids. Must visit fun place for kids and youngers. The concept of this place is cool and it keep you entertained. It takes around 2 and half hours to cover all experiences. I liked this place and my daughter also enjoyed it very much.
Kids loved it. Great that you can have an all day ticket
Interesting museum, bring your friends or family on there and you will not be disappointed. Must see im Edinburgh.
Good fun and very interesting. Would recommend for everyone who is curiuos. :)
Three hours just flew by ! It is probably the best rainy day destination there is!
I found the whole set-up most interesting and stimulating. The staff were pleasant and helpful and all-in-all it was a very worthwhile experience. I will certainly recommend the visit to my friends. Regards, John Gibson, 22 Graham Terrace, Bishopbriggs, Glasgow.
Very good experience and lots of fun but very pricey.
A very unique experience, to fully understand you have to see it for yourself
Thumbs up.....must visit place in Edinburgh.....worth for money
I was very impressed with just how much there was to see and do here (whether as an adult or a child). There's plenty to keep you entertained for at least a couple of hours and some of the illusions are really mind-bending!
Looked interesting. Go early, even in the slow season it has a line out the door after 10:00 am.
Loved visiting camera obscura during our stay in Edinburgh. I was astonished to see different types of illusions they have at all three floors. It was a great experience and a must visit when you're in Edinburgh. It shouldn't take more than an hr (depends on your energy level) to visit all floors. I particularly enjoyed their mirror room.
My friend recommended that we go here and I've got to say that this is a place that you must visit if you are in Edinburgh. It's great fun for people of all ages and very unique. If you have bags with you, they will store them for you when you go around the attraction. The views from the top floor are incredible; you can even use their binoculars & telescopes for free. 5 stars.
Nothing original beyond the camera obscura room itself. Far, far too much money for a pretty standard attraction. The one thing we did in Edinburgh that I wished we hadn't bothered with.
Amazing venue had a great time here with the family
Very good place not just for kids but for adults too, top floor has amazing views of the castle and the city.
Fun with many various optical illusions and also a bit of knowledge :-)
Absolutely brilliant.. So much fun and lots to see.. The staff and service are superb as it was a foggy day we got a free re-entry ticket to the Camera Obscure and 10% off initial entry.. Would Highly recommend
This is great fun for kids and grown ups a like. We all had a great day here and its free re-entry too. great view from the top. Be prepared for step though due the building its housed in there are plenty of flights to be climbed.
Second time that i was there. Loved it. So much fun and loads of interesting things to see and do.
Really fun! Spent 2 hours in there and ee are both adults!
My favorite attraction In Edinburgh. Camera Obscura is a amazing experience and the 6 floors of optical illusions are great fun for all ages. The 6th floor provides great views of the royal mile and Edinburghs surroundings.
A great place to spend a few hours. Your mind will be "boggled" and your eyes amazed at what you will see. Kids will love it.
Interesting, small, too busy: do yourself a favour, and visit one of the camera obscura's in less busy locations. The massive amounts of people ruined the experience, even when going early'ish.
We came early to avoid the queue on a half term Monday morning. Very interesting place and great view from the top. Well worth a visit!
Good fun honestly but only a few things worth the visit. Well overprised.
Oh yes it was beautiful and fun I love funny things and I recommend it
Really great place, been a couple of times now and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mega expensive! Which is a shame because it's great.
I visit Camera Obscura each time I come to Edinburgh, just because it's so fun. I highly recommend this, also for adults!
Bit pricey, but the kids enjoyed it you can get around it in an hour, the show they do at the end with the camera obscure was fun and interesting, made it worthwhile
No visit to Edinburgh is complete without a visit here. It was so much fun for adults and children. After you have paid in you can come and go all day back and forth. A really fun experience.
If you like illusions this is a place to go to! Five floors of optical illusions, holograms, and more. It is a bit of a climb to go all the way but you know it is good for you, as well as worth it. There is a show on a sixth floor (the roof) that consists mainly of demonstrating a periscope attached to the roof which can see 360 degrees. Our guide in the show was a bit... American (sorry...) which is not really my style as it is too over the top but every guide has her own game. The queue can be painstakingly long though. We first went on a Saturday at 14 but just gave up as the queue went on for 15 metres outside of the building. Second try, Sunday at 13 we just had to stand in line for like 15 min.
Great for kids, not wheelchair accessible. You get stamped on the way in and u can come and go all day which is good..lots of stairs to climb..staff are friendly.
Absolutely fantastic place. An easy 5 hour visit. Great entertainment, kids loved it, brilliant family time. Would gladly visit again.
Have been to camera obscura a few times but today was horrendous. They let far too many people in at once and my family and I couldn't get anywhere near any of the illusions or sights. Our little girl was a little disappointed. Should of been organised better as quite expensive and could of spent more time in here but decided we wanted to leave as it was just too much. People were bumping into each other and pushing each other out of the way
Excellent place to visit when it's raining in Edinburgh. My son loved it.
This place was really impressive. We thought it was just for kids but I have to say, my boyfriend and myself are in our mid twenties and had a great time!! We got through all the floors just in time to see the educational show on the roof and watch the sun set over Edinburgh. Well worth the money.
So much fun!! This is great for kids and kids at heart! I could literally spend the entire day here (and have done on more than one occasion)
Excellent place of illusions. Really fascinating for families, couples and singletons. It's on 6 floors, which you start on the 6th, which had panoramic views of Edinburgh on the balcony and it had a mini round theatre too to start the tour off with a demonstration of illusions to start you off on your journey down the building of illusions. In my opinion they saved the best till last, but I won't divulge, all I'll say is that it makes your whole body to feel something that's not really happening. Camera obscura was one of our highlights of Edinburgh
Some great illusion stuff here and a great way to spend a couple of hours.. once you work your way to the top floor there is an old 360 camera show.. great views of Edinburgh from the roof too.
It's great. Lots of interesting optical illusions and tricks. We took our one-and-a-bit-year-old with us and he was plenty interested in at least some of the stuff. However, there's no lift. The place runs through 5 or 6 floors so be ready to do some lifting of your own if you've a small child. Apart from that, a great experience. The staff are all really friendly, and I managed to walk through that crazy spinny bridge thing without vomitting everywhere. Photos are the view from the top.
So much fun! I thought it was for kids but I had just as much fun! The view from the top is amazing! Everything is interactive and very fun!
