I currently live here and absolutely love it! I've had a few small and minor things to fix, and the work has always been done within 24 hours. The concergie is very helpful and attentive to any needs. Plus, you can't beat the amenities!

I recently moved to beach club.I love the location and that it is walking distance to the lakes and stores. I can quick jump on greenway for a bike ride. I feel that building is very safe which is a huge factor since I have children. I cannot wait for the amenities to open up for the summer, that is if we get to have a summer. (AC-after covid )

The Calhoun Beach Club at 2900 Thomas Ave. S, Minneapolis MN, 55416.
If you live here you will be extremely disappointed. They will steal you Amazon packages, bait and switch you on the apartment you view compared to the one they will stick you in. This may be fine if the average rent is $700/mo but the apartments here are not cheap. A 1000 Sq ft 2 bedroom is $2900 and they go as high as $11,000.00 per month for a 4000 sq ft apartment. I looked at this apartment and the appliance were just as outdated as the ones in my apartment.
The security here is a joke. My neighbor in 1511 had he and his wife's 2 Trek bicycles stolen during the day and they didn't do a thing for them. This place has virtually no security. They have 1 person scheduled at a time. They leave the parking garage doors open all day most days of the week as well as the door into the building. Welcome to all the Twin City criminals. My neighbor was assaulted, choked and broken into his apartment by someone that walked right in, knocked on his door, hid, then when he opened his door, this person forced in. People that live here are professionals that drive very nice automobiles. The criminals must be well aware due to the fact that people have consistently had their cars broken into. Hard to believe but as I said, 1 security officer for 2 buildings, 2 pools, fitness center, and 300+ apartments. I had another neighbor had the tail lights stolen out of her Range Rover...God Bless.
The appliances are ancient and something of a joke. These are the cheapest clothes and dishwasher you have ever seen.
I have attached pictures of the lousy job the dishwasher does as well as the construction noise that has gone on for over a year with absolutely no end in sight.
The water out of the tap is very dirty of which I have attached as well.
Don't bother complaining to the headquarters in Denver because nothing will happen except they will try to make your life miserable for complaining.
This property has had 4 General Managers in 2 years. Why? Apparently the old saying is true...pay your managers peanuts, you get monkeys.
Please do not move in here without talking with the people that live here. Better yet, check their reviews. I should have done this before committing. I looked at their reviews online the other day and saw bad reviews extending back to 2003. This made me feel a little better knowing I am not the victim, just one of the victims.

I am coming into my 3rd year at the Beach Club and I absolutely love it here. The office staff and maintenance staff and security staff are all extremely kind and on top of things.

I came to this building to experience a lake lifestyle and I not only found that but I found a whole new group of friends and built relationships that are in my opinion priceless.

I would tell anybody who is on the fence about moving in here that it is a no brainer... the sense of community... the meticulous care of the property and the pride you will feel calling this establishment home are things you won t regret for a second. Thanks again to the CBC staff for making me happy to be a resident!

Recently had a family member diagnosed with a terminal illness which requires me to move home with them. Aimco/Calhoun would not hear any of it and forced two + months rent. Thanks for the caring customer service

My boyfriend and I have been residents of Calhoun Beach Club for about a month, and so far we ve been more than pleased with our decision to live here! The amenities can t be beat and the location is perfect for us-We love living right on the lake, having access to great biking and walking trails right outside our door, and being close to the city. Everyone we ve ran into here has been super friendly as well! Would definitely recommend CBC to anyone looking for a new place to call home!

Just moved in and cant say enough about how amazing everyone was and is! Moving across the country is so stressful but from the management and leasing office at the Calhoun Beach Club to the receptionists at the desk, I cannot say enough about them!!! Everyone was wonderful, my apartment is beautiful!

Proud to call the CBC home! Coming into maybe 3rd year - the staff is great - the grounds are meticulously cared for

I ve made friends and relationships that are priceless!

Anyone who is on the fence about moving in here... don t give it a second thought. You will find a sense of community and atmosphere that is unlike anything I ve experienced and you ll be very proud to call the Beach Club home.

Very disappointed with the over advertisement, but lack of amenities that can be shared with a resident's guests. The parking situation with pre purchasing vouchers and having them expire forcing my guests to also have to pay on exit is unacceptable. Not reimbursing me for the vouchers or my guests for their parking is rude. Blaming it on a separately managed parking through another tenant (Allied Parking) or the lack of guest passes to the health club because it is also leased to separate management is a cop-out and a very convenient way for Aimco and the property management to justify zero attempt at satisfaction in a grievance. Great location, nice unit, and prestigious aura from the outside looking in, but terrible experience once the lease is signed. I hate to leave negative reviews, but this did not live up to expectations. The automatic requests for a property review in the first weeks of living here must artificially inflate the review score because my opinion seemed to be the consensus. Residents bond over complaints or don't interact with each other at all from my experience.

By far the highest quality service I have received at any apartment I have lived at thus far. Both the GM and concierge staff went above and beyond when we moved in as our movers weren't able to arrive as scheduled.

The Calhoun Beach Club Apartments are a unique and incomparable place to live. These are high-quality residences in a classic building with rich history and modern finishes that you won t be able to find anywhere else. The proximity to the lakes, uptown, and great restaurants, not to mention the great amenities like a full-size gym & pools, new appliances, and a great management team, make this a place that s impossible to beat and difficult to want to leave. We have been living here for over a year and a half and have no desire to live elsewhere anytime soon.

I've been living in here for almost 3 years with my husband and we just love it. Super friendly staff. Super nice community. The club is awesome to have access to whole year around and Urban Eatery's Sunday brunch is a must. ;)

Love living here and coming home every day. Staff are friendly and efficient. Service requests are timely taken care of. All the other residents seem to love it as well. The best part is that my apartment really feels like a home, not some slapped together apartment building. I can't hear my neighbors AT ALL. On either side, or above/below me.

This place sucks!!!!! I do not recommend anybody to live here, the management is horrible, they will ruin your life, make life miserable.. Stay away from them.. I am serious... Do not say I did not warn you. The management is horrible, particlulary the manager named Jerome.. I know at least 30 people moved out because of management. People do not know so they think the location is perfect, and they move in, and then they move out within a year, nobody stays.. The location is great, but it is not worth to deal with this nonsense management team... Make sure at least you ask around and ask current residents about the building before you move in.

I am a recent relo from Chicago and did not know the area well. After receiving superior service from the staff and an amazing virtual tour I decided to call CBC home. I have not been disappointed. The other residents and the staff are friendly and helpful. You have a sense of community and belonging immediately. I love the area. The lake, Greenway, restaurants and easy highway access are all fantastic. LOVE the on-site amenities and the proximity of grocery and restaurants. So glad to be home.

I ve lived in a 1 BD apartment in the vintage building here at the Calhoun Beach Club for the last month. It s been an excellent experience. Amazing gym, pool, amenities. The place feels very homey and everyone is so kind. It s perfect for any circumstance in renting an apartment.

The top of the residences! Indoor swimming pool + discovery for the summer. Sauna and Turkish bath, 2-storey gym, 2 restaurants, covered and heated parking, all reachable without leaving the apartment directly from the apartment.
The apartments are comfortable and perfectly air-conditioned, summer and reverse. Concierge service with American coffee and cookies at the entrance, which makes the maintenance in the apartment by simply leaving a note while you go out and if you order the shopping online they bring it home and refrigerate it.
One restaurant more in hand with excellent cuisine "southern states" and the other elegant with "crab all you can eat" on Wednesday night (discounted for the inhabitants of the residence).
Crossing the road you immediately access the cycle path for unforgettable skating every summer weekend.
Located near Uptown, the most alternative and chic area of the city, with clubs and entertainment.
A fairy tale!

We just recently moved into Calhoun Beach Club and couldn't be happier! It's been an amazing community, the neighbors are really nice, the staff is great an helpful, and the facilities are awesome!! We haven't been able to use some of it because of COVID, but the few common areas that are possible to use are really great, and they're always clean and functioning well. Aside from all that, the apartment is amazing, everything works well, it's beautiful, and we're actually happier with it than we originally thought when we moved!

We ve lived here about a month. The staff is very friendly and Liz was extraordinary in assisting us with details. There are many great amenities; the fitness center and pool, package room and wonderful Urban Eatery. It s a great great restaurant with a friendly staff and you don t even have to go outside to get there. The location is amazing, just feet from the lake and Uptown. We are happy to be here.

I love it here. It's like resort living in the city! Everything is maintained well and the staff are super friendly. Access to the athletic club is a huge bonus! My quality of life has improved tremendously as the walkability in this community provides access to so much! I get great views and lakefront living! I see beauty everyday!

WARNING: if you rent one of these beautiful apartments...you can expect to lose your deposit and then some. I noted stains on the carpet when I moved in during the walk through and upon moveout I have been charged over $2000 to replace the carpet! After you move in, you can expect ZERO quality service from the management. I believe they think their renters are so rich, they won't care if they get screwed after they move out. - Melissa Hannah, Dave Benz

The Calhoun Beach Club Apartments is such a great ...

The Calhoun Beach Club Apartments is such a great place as quiet (by the Lake); perfect location (close to Uptown and Downtown); offers great amenities (luxer one mail room, gym, party room) and all of that at a good price. And let's not forget the staff that is very reactive and friendly!

I lived here for 1 year.

I lived here for 1 year.

Pros:
The gym, location, and apartments. All of these things are pretty good - maintained well enough, updated well enough, etc.

Cons:
This might be wordy but I'll try to edit.

My move-in wasn't great. They overcharged me a bit and I've never gotten a refund. Which is fine. It's just money, right? Any attempt to make contact about my move-in deal or other apartment issues went completely ignored and I just gave up.

Because math is also hard to explain to this team and you know, the value of my time started to outweigh the costs of just over paying.

Case in point: They ALSO TRIED to overcharge me a month when I moved out. Because again, math is hard. But this time, I fought hard enough to have that money refunded.

Just an FYI - landlords are LEGALLY bound to return your security deposit in the state of Minnesota 3 weeks after you move out. In my case, I got my security deposit 10 weeks after I moved out. CBC was 7 weeks past their LEGAL date of return.

Furthermore, I only received my deposit after I asked about it multiple times. I think if I had never followed up, they would have just kept the money. I mean, what's $1K, right? We are ALL such rich people, right?

I also had a mail forwarding issue for months after I left with CBC because they told me they would work with USPS to set up my mail forwarding so I didn't have to. And then they didn't and told me they never could. So, I also really appreciate miscommunication and reneging on agreements.

Other complaints mentioned that are also worth mentioning again - guests of residents don't have good parking options and can't use the gym like in other buildings. Also, cars in the parking garage were broken into at least 4 different times over the course of my stay here.

Case in point: it's fine. You don't exactly get what you pay for because you might end up paying a lot but some of the pros about the neighborhood are enough to overlook some heartburn experienced.

As good as the place looks when you first will look at it the worst it will get once you move in. Everyone is so nice when they want to rent this place because there is someone moving out of the place every week and it has nothing to do with the price of the place. It has everything to do with the management. They will make your life a living hell once you move in. Sure, most people who will read this review will think, ha just another idiot who did not like something and now complaining. I spent 5 years living there and every day the management will do something to piss you off. At the price they charge it should be much better service but do not expect anything once you move it. AND, try to re-new the lease :) at least 15% increase. You will never get your deposit back no matter what you do. Go ahead and try your luck or do your own research. Good luck.

I currently live here and enjoy the property very much. My unit is beautiful though the appliances are a bit outdated. I've understood that if you want them updated in your unit (stainless steel for ex.) you are charged more in rent as you would have been for requesting a more updated unit off the bat.

Anytime you have a maintenance request the staff is friendly, fast and courteous. The management is always friendly and available to help as are the security staff. From a location stand point it really does not get any better; you're surrounded by gorgeous lakes, restaurants, grocery stores not to mention a full gym in your building you do not even need to go outside in the winter to walk to. One element I really love is that while this is a mature more established building to live in. I never hear my neighbors and feel that all residents are respectful of common areas and one another.

My only recommendation would to charge FAR less for resident parking and that storage units should be available at no cost and simply made available to residents when others discontinue use. I love living here and would highly recommend CBC!

Great location but for the price you pay no luxury. We have been experiencing 3 issues no air conditioning, sink backing up with other people's drain filth, and the dryer exhaust from all the above units venting into ours. We went to a resident event and found a lot of similar complaints. Don't be fooled by the beautiful view there is probably something with the same view that is cheaper and has better amenities.

I lived in Calhoun Beach Club Apartment for about 9 month, and these great apartment and great community. The entire staff always greet you with a smile and are very helpful to our needs, and are quick to attend to any problems that arise. Lovely place to live and all the amenities are great, even for kids! Everything was so beautiful that I felt like I was at a hotel. I have loved my time here and will always recommend it to others.

As a new resident of Calhoun Beach Club, the building staff, leasing office, maintenance team and neighbors have been nothing short of accommodating! Finding a place with great amenities was very important to me, and the gym is better than most that you'd pay a monthly fee for. The equipment is top-notch and the facilities are best-in-class. Looking forward to continually living at Calhoun Beach Club!

We feel incredibly lucky to have a spot at the Calhoun Beach Club. It is the only apartment in Minneapolis that I've found that provides a "Manhattan" feel. The amenities, lobby, and staff are incredible and have always been helpful and courteous. Not to mention, the location is second to none. Living here puts you at walking distance to lakes, grocery stores, shopping, and dining. There is a historical and vintage charm here that you won't find anywhere else.

We LOVE living at the Calhoun Beach Club. The location is perfect for our active family, our eight-year old daughter attends Kenwood - a top-notch school, and we've met several wonderful families in the building. The athletic club membership is truly the "icing on the cake." We are thrilled with the environment and our overall quality of life.

We relocated to Minneapolis from a sister property in (Century City) Los Angeles and our experience has been amazing. The grounds are kept very clean and well maintained. The entire staff has also been amazing, very accommodating, and welcoming. Don t have one bad thing to say.

Fantastic place to live and workout. Especially wonderful for families to live (there are several) and in a great public school district (Kenwood elementary-bus stop out front of building). Both my children have several friends in the building and we adore the heated pool. We rented sight unseen because of an out-of-state move. I did a lot of research throughout the area and cannot be happier with location, price, amenities, and those who live at Calhoun Beach Club are fantastic (wonderful, friendly neighbors). The building is overall a quiet building yet still has a pleasant amount of activity. I am so impressed with how clean the building is!

I've found people only write reviews when they have had a bad experience, what some of these reviews are missing is the many, many people who love living at and fitness facilities at Calhoun. When researching places to live in Minneapolis, I'm glad I wasn't persuaded by some of the overly negative reviews here. Definitely worth checking out for yourself and making your own decisions.
