Although I love supporting a local business, the prices here are astronomical. 6.25$ for a loaf of bread ??? At weils (bakery in westdale) the bread is under or around 3$. The one brownie I saw was $7.50, which is insane. Everything was obviously prepared with love and flair, some very unique items, but this will not be a regular place for us. They also only had two types of bread-no whole wheat or multi grain available.

Fresh, local ingredients when possible, and rotating deliciousness throughout the year. I also love that they pay their employees a living wage. Yes, that makes me frequent this place more. I'm happy to pay more for equitable practices. It doesn't hurt that they're also the best.

Tasty, but way too expensive for what you get. Also there is not anywhere to sit and enjoy your drinks and foods. Usually a very long wait the line was out the door and took half an hour to get our order

I ordered a cake for my moms birthday and not only was it one of the most beautiful cakes I've ever eaten, it was also delicious. You could tell that it was a high quality cake baked with high quality ingredients. I will definitely order from them again.
Dropped in since i saw it on the side of the road while searching for a small place to grab a price to eat. The classic cinnamon bun is absolutely fantastic, worth getting to even try it out. Had driven up and down the area multiple times but never have i noticed the tiny building. Small place but lots of baked goods and sweets.
A total gem in Hamilton. Definitely should be your go-to.

One thing that really stands out amongst all their delicious baked goods is the crust of their pies - wonderful. We have tried their cakes and cookies but our favourite is the savoury pies. The cashew pie is outstanding.
I got the everything "bagel" which is more of a pretzel than a bagel. It's so good! You don't need any condominents with it and it's packed with flavour. Also tried the skor cookie with the filling the middle. It's really sweet so I could only eat half and saved the rest for later, but was also very delicious. It has a carmael filling in the middle too which was nice. Everything was super fresh and tasted great! Cute atmosphere too.

It goes without saying that the food here is delicious. My friend who is a chef at a fine dining restaurant calls them wizards. But more than the talent and friendliness of the staff, I applaud their customer service. For thanksgiving I'd ordered a salty honey pie. On pickup day, they mistakenly gave me a lemon meringue. I told them and they didn't have any left and were closing soon. So as a quick apology they gave me a free Boston cream pie (which I soon learnt is a cake). Not only that, but they told me to contact them after the weekend to get a free salty honey pie as well. So here I am, a very pleased customer eating delicious baked goods made by a lovely team. They are classy as hell and everyone should support them!!

Great little bakery. I tried the skor banana doughnut, skor cookie sandwich and a chocolate chip cookie, we also had a regular latte and a roasty toasty marshmallow salted caramel latte. Everything was excellent, starting with the customer service and ending with all the treats. I would highly recommend checking out this place.
I had to leave this review cause i was so disappointed after reading all the other high star reviews. Where do i start? i called 10 am to place a pick up order . When i arrived i paid and left the store drove down the block only for my husband to tell me a item is missing not happy since i paid 30+ dollars for some desserts for my husband birthday. Then the parking for this place is so small and tight also off a busy road hard to get in and out so another issue with this place why should i have to worry about getting into a accident to get some treats? i kindly explained to them i paid for 6 desserts and only got 5 which after the lady calculated it on her phone cause no way for them to track any orders placed which again is strange for a place that charge so much for items. High end desserts i kinda expect high end service , i don't know maybe a receipt with item and price just a thought. So after all that we get home which is a good 25 minute drive and dive into a 7 dollar unicorn bar now again at that price point i'm expecting something with so much flavor and such great taste that i would want to spend 7 dollars again but what i got was something that tasted okay but nothing special i wouldn't rave about this dessert at all . This point thinking okay 1 out of 6 items so there is a lot of room for improvement with other items but it didn't get any better. The next thing i had was a cinnabon which was sold out when i got there so i thought this must be one of the really good desserts since none left at store. Husband picked his up and right away said that its hard a rough exterior not light and flurry that you would think for something that's fresh and baked daily he gave it a 3 out of 10. This point we both had enough to the point we left the rest of desserts in the bag and put in fridge for later cause couldn't eat too much sweets at once . The last thing we tried together was the skor cookie which was good but its 2 giants cookies filled with tons of sweet cream and tons of caramel which could of been a good thing but just way too much sweetness going on for you to really enjoy it we both felt sick before finishing the cookie. we both agreed we would give it 5/6 out of 10 cause it tasted good but maybe just too much sugar going on in one item. I wasn't going to leave a review but after you see cake and loaf explaining how the prices are so high so they can pay workers a good wage which is a great thing. I just thought lets leave a more realistic review so people expectations aren't so high before arriving. This isn't a review for a refund or free items cause we still have desserts left in the fridge that we wont eat. Just want people to know the experience of someone who can pay high prices for desserts but wont be back cause nothing special is being served here.

Very cute place, cool themes and neat flavours - as many have said the items are a bit too sweet though. They need a balance of bitter bitter or acidity to cut through the sweetness (like the unicorn bars). I got a sweet latte with one and that it was just overwhelming. Doing the Cha time model of half / quarter sweet on the drinks might be nice too. It was really good and quaint. I'd come back but be very choosy on my next item and look for some of those counter balance flavours to balance the sugar.

I really do love all the treats they prepare here. Whenever I have family or friends come in from out of town, I buy everyone dessert from here!
My one complaint, however, the front of store staff are always very cold when I come in. They seem to just be too busy or uninterested to bother being friendly to customers... that s just my experience.
Very small so there's usually a line up out the door but very tasty and rich pastries! I like how they package things so nicely and they've got fair trade, vegan and I believe organic options as well. A little pricey however quality nonetheless. I'll surely return... I'd like to try their cakes!

Yummy! Must try the Chocolate Orange Oreo. Big giant fudgy cookies with delicious orange cream filling. Had some other treats as well - nothing was overly sweet and everything tasted fresh. Not too expensive. Support local.
The items are not worth the prices. They are pretty good but just not worth what they are asking for. I know it's to pay their employees a livable wage, but as someone who has to watch their own spending closely this store is too much of a luxury.

Cake & Loaf carries a number of items you won't see anywhere else, such as their Unicorn Viva Puff and Party Sammies. Despite the beautiful display of unique options, I don't think I will return to this bakery. The staff were rather cold, seemingly trying to get through the line as fast as possible. My visit was around noon on a Saturday, and they had no sandwiches available to order. Instead, I got a chicken pot pie, which was served to me in a grab and go bag. After paying, I noticed it was cold. I asked if they could heat it up, and they said no. The reason? "We don't have our oven turned on at the moment." This would have been a good thing to know when I ordered, instead of me deciding between eating the single-serving sized pie cold, or finding another place to eat. I was also disappointed by them not having any bottled water for sale, offering me a cup of water which was only filled halfway. The lack of cold drinks on their menu is disappointing, offering juice boxes and small bottled beverages, all more "exotic" flavours such as pear, grapefruit, and nothing more traditional like orange juice.
If you're looking for unique dessert or snack items, this is the place for you. If you're looking for good variety and positive customer service, I would recommend looking elsewhere for a bite to eat.
I haven't tasted everything but everything I have tasted is incredible. I just wish the butter bar were available all year, it's incredible.
Great product and staff. This is not a cheap place, but given the quality of the food, the emphasis on local ingredients and the fact that they insist on paying their staff "living wages" which is between $15-18 an hour and close on holidays to give staff time off, it is well worth it. Check them out.

I purchased my wedding cake through Cake and Loaf for my wedding this past weekend. Everything about the cake and service was amazing! First off, they accommodated us right off the bat with making a vegan wedding cake. The groom is vegan (I am not) and I wanted to make sure that there was a dessert at the wedding that he could eat and enjoy without any worry. Cake and Loaf was upfront with us right away with the challenges of making a vegan cake to make sure we were aware. That was nice because we wouldn't have known. It didn't matter to us. The challenge with vegan cakes and mine in particular is the "butter" cream. It doesn't have the smooth look that regular butter-cream has. It also isn't as strong as regular cakes so getting perfectly stacked tiers can be difficult (or at least that's how I understood it). Cake and Loaf made sure that we understood this before we purchased anything and made our choice ,which was great. We decided to go with the vegan cake and I am so happy we did. It looked amazing ( 4 tiers (bottom tier fake for stability), white butter-cream and decorated with flowers). It was a simple design but that's exactly what I wanted. The best part about it was the taste. We had a chocolate and peanut butter cake and it was delicious. All of my guests loved it (vegans and non-vegans alike). Usually wedding cake is less than stellar (at least in my experience) but this one was really tasty. The price for the cake was also extremely fair. Everything for my wedding was done through businesses in Hamilton (and I don't even live there nor am I from there) and I can't praise them enough. The service and quality of Hamilton businesses are amazing and offer the same if not better service for better prices in comparison to the GTA.
Delicious and fun filled bakery. They sell some odd cute cards and small gifts. Got a last minute birthday card to go with my small cake for my friend and it worked out perfectly. Their Instagram game is level
Everything I've ever put in my mouth from this place has been fantastic. Recently we ordered my daughter's birthday cake from here, and I walked in, not really knowing what I wanted, and ended up with the most delicious, and gorgeous creation. Real ingredients (honestly if I had to eat another Loblaws plastic-y sheet cake, I was going to barf), and lovely staff.
Highly recommended for an event, or just a coffee and scone.

I absutabsolutely hate this place. It's one of those things yuppie baked goods over priced and over rated. Got a coffee there once ..last time. The kids like the occasional cookie. Can't believe their price for a small chunk of cookie dough.
I may if absolutely necessary buy a Small item for the kids.

Discovered Cake and Loaf when living in Hamilton but now I have to make a stop every time I'm in the area. Rotational products keep you coming back and they have a great social media presence so you can plan to go when their rotational product match your cravings.
Ordered a vegan pumpkin pie this past Thanksgiving and it was a huge hit (with vegans, and non-vegans alike!) Will certainly be ordering again! :)
Everything there is always delicious! The Jensen cheddar loaf is so good that you can just eat it on its own without anything on it. The chicken pot pie is also one of my go-to favourites. If you're in need of comfort food you should definitely try it.
Other favourites for me are: the OMG bar, mint chocolate pie (I think it was cheesecake and they also used Girl Guide cookies), anything they make with cream cheese icing, the big skor cookie. Honestly I could be here all day because I love all their food.
Plus, they also pay their workers a living wage. What's not to love about Cake and Loaf?
My favourite bakery in Hamilton. The baked goods are fresh, delicious and unique. Coffee is quite good, and the staff are wonderful. Always a line here, but it goes quick. Only wish they were open Sundays.

Perfect birthday cake! The cake looked absolutely gorgeous (numerous comments from our adult & kid guests) and tasted delicious!
We kept it simple - vanilla bean with butter cream icing. Just the right amount of sweetness to be yummy but not sickly sweet.
Very reasonably priced. Our cake was for 16 but being a 4-tier cake could have really fed twice as many.
We will definitely be return customers and will be sharing with our friends!

Relatively small bakeshop specializing in old-school Canadian bakery staples (cinnamon buns, butter tarts, etc.) with a hipster twist. There might even be a bit of a retro vibe going for it, with the white trays and unpainted wooden shelves, serving up anything from giant Oreo cookies, homemade chocolate bars, to apple crumble and... jars of preserves. Coffee and tea are amazing, and the food is delicious! It may seem a bit expensive at first, but when you take into account the quality of the from-scratch, locally sourced food, and the happiness of the employees, it is definitely worth it!

Made an AMAZING cake for my sister's birthday! So beautiful and so delicious! It was a two tier red velvet cake decorated like a unicorn and nothing is more her. It was so pretty, I felt bad knowing we were eating it... a feeling that disappeared when we tasted it!

Hands down my favourite bakery in Hamilton. Some disclaimers before you go!
1. They only have 2 parking spots and they're located on a busy road. So unless you manage to snag a spot at the strip across the street you might find yourself having to drive up and down Dundurn (or a side street) to find parking
2. Yes their stuff is on the pricier side but everything is made from local ingredients, from scratch, and they do pay their employees a living wage which is pretty cool
3. If you're going in for a snack cake well I hope you like a bit of cake with your icing
Seriously though this place is great for a treat, they do have some GF and vegan items, and the girls there are so friendly. Oh and their drinks are awesome. I'd chose them over Starbucks any day.
This place is amazing. Every time I walk by I HAVE to go in and see what they have. It always smells absolutely fantastic in there at all times and the aesthetic/decorations are super pretty. Their sweets and pastries are to die for! I always try something new each time I go and everything I've had is amazing. The raspberry poptarts are out of this world!!! They also often have discounted items at 50% off that I've purchased a few times and they're always cheap and delicious. Plus the ladies who work in there are super sweet!!
