I hosted my birthday dinner here and was absolutely blown away with the meal we had. There are many entree choices and we sampled many of them. Every single one of our dinners was exceptional and all of us agreed this dinner was probably the best we have ever had. We have eaten at many fine, highly acclaimed restaurants along the west coast but the Kandahar surpasses all! The chef has a talent for creating fresh, unique cuisine that has amazing flavor, and style. The cafe's ambiance and location add to the experience! We all agreed that the Cafe is something special and we plan to return often. I highly recommend everything on the rotating menu for an experience you will not forget!!

We ordered from the bar and ate a light dinner outside on the side patio, surrounded by blooming garden plants. The cocktails were inventive and our waitstaff (who doubled as the barkeep!) was friendly and energetic. I'm not the fan of elk meat that I imagined I would be, but otherwise the food was great. I doubt there is a lovelier setting with fine dining on the mountain.

The wine steward is wonderful. She is very detailed in her knowledge about wine and loves to engage with guests. However, towards the end of my meal I spilled a glass of water onto myself and no one responded. No employees offered me napkins or my jacket to help dry me off or keep me warm in the air conditioned restaurant, by which I became extremely cold and started to shiver.

The food presentation is thoughtfully put together. Cafe Kandahar does not serve a large proportion, but the perfect amount to fill one s stomach. Each meal has a delicate flavor as well which is good and bad depending on which dish you order. Personally I do not want my steak to have a light and delicate sauce. Steak should pack a punch! However, the soup should have a light texture and taste.

This place is incredible! Every time we go and everything we try...it's perfect. It's like Gary Danko in SF as far as unique flavorful dishes, but with far smaller prices. They have a fantastic tasting menu, including a vegan tasting menu, along with great choices including quail, elk roulade, beef, and lamb. They have tasty salads, wines, and a full bar as well. Chef Andy is famous for a reason, and once you come it will be a place you can't wait to get back to. Although their food is upscale, it is inviting and great for families as well as nice dates. This is Whitefish's best kept secret and every time we are in town we must go!

We went for the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I had the pork belly, foie gras, socca crepe, and huckleberry tart. It was the best meal I have had in Whitefish. The wine pairings were creative and interesting. It was the best.

Tried the adventure menu x2 with a friend and added the wine pairing. Although $50 is a lot for 2-3 total drinks of wine, the sommelier was wonderful and made it totally worth it. Definitely recommend the octopus, soup, and elk tenderloin as they were absolutely spectacular.

This restaurant's food was by far the best food I have ever eaten. The atmosphere, and the wait staff were incredible. It was such a wonderful experience to have our christmas eve dinner at this restaurant. I would reccomend to anyone that wishes to have their mind blown. 10/5 stars!!

Sensational! This was truly a 5 star experience. I m so glad they managed to squeeze us in last minute. I m pregnant so I had to choose carefully based on my restrictions but was able to have all the dishes I wanted. My husband had the wine pairing and said it was the best he had ever had. Even though I wasn t drinking I still had total appreciation for the sommelier and his storytelling. Highly recommend!

This is a 5 star dining experience. The chef takes his time to make everything exactly right. Beautiful presentation, and extreme flavor in every single bite. We each ordered the 3 course and a couple drinks. Everything was distinct and delicious!!

We had an awesome time! We caught a casual, slow, weekday evening which allowed us to chat with the staff and fellow guests throughout the evening. The food was phenomenal and top notch for the valley. Being from the area, it was a treat and it felt like local clientele was not the norm, but greatly appreciated. From our kind server to knowledgeable sommelier, we will definitely be back. Thanks for the experience!

Went to Cafe Kandahar for a nice dinner with my family and I couldn't be more disappointed. We did the three courses and only one was even edible. The salad was just awful couldn't even eat it. However the elk was good, not great just good. When the desserts came and I had raw dough in my rhubarb cobbler I knew I would never be back. The quality of the food and service here are horrendous. If you want a nice dinner I would reconsider and find someplace else.
