I've been here several times. The food, is like a better version of a greasy spoon diner; while vegetarian, it's not necessarily healthy. If we were in 2010, I'd rate this 5 stars. In 2020 I'd say giving this place 4 stars is pushing it -- though -- I'm still giving it 4 because there are a dearth of vegetarian places.

A Vancouver classic, affordable meals and great platform for the community. However I hope they would start contact tracing, and I wish them luck controlling the fruit flies. No one cleaned the table next to us between visitors and it wasn't very busy, I can still see the ring from the water glass on the table after second patron left, no one has been around to wipe. Times are tough, I hope they can lift their game in spite of the crunch. Also, please boycott Parallel 49 beer til they improve their treatment of personnel.

I visited this cafe a few weeks ago cuz the review was good but it was very unpleasant experience for me. My friend got a hair AND a small fly in her food but she didn t have a chance to complain cuz no one was around even tho it was not busy at all.
I ordered something which comes with cheese but it didn t, so I asked for it and the guys working there accused me of not recognizing it. And then he just gave me unmelted shredded cheese lol . It s supposed to be melted on my bread or egg idk. And he said I don t know whether it has no cheese or I m high Well.....

Pros:

Pros:

Food is decent, coffee is not bad either.

Cons:

Beer options are sub par.
Obnoxiously loud and because the windows are wide open, this bleeds out into the street. It is so bad that I can very clearly hear this place at night from my house at the end of 5th (at Woodland).
Worst of all, however, is the typeface they use for their logo/name. It is abhorrent and makes me die inside.

Summary: this would be a one-star review had I not been dragged here to see out of town friends and discovered that their breakfast offering is pretty okay.

5 stars for consistency and fast service because some things should never change. Best quick vegetarian food in Vancouver and super great cheap breakfast. My family lives in Maple Ridge, but we spend a lot of time commuting between home and East Vancouver and this is always our go-to for breakfast if we are in the area.

One of the worst breakfast experiences I've ever had. Had to stand in line to order food. I was with my friend but we wanted to pay separately so we ordered separately. The lady that helped us asked me if we were together though and I said yes. We both got our drinks straight away. It was quite busy so it took a while but than my friend's food came. Mine didn't come, so I told her to start eating. After 10 minutes I went up to ask and the server just said that it was very busy and that I should wait. Apart from the obvious (I could see that it was busy) she was extremely rude, did not want to hear my story (people that ordered after us were getting food) nor did she even want to check it. After my friend finished her food (!!) we finally could get the attention of one of the servers again and tried to tell the story again. She went over to check it but didn't tell us what was going on.... So we waited again. After we waited for almost an hour (from when we got there) I stood up and was about to walk to the counter to ask for my money back. Of course that was the exact moment my food was brought over. The server did not apologize, explain the situation or get me any compensation. Forgetting about an order is one thing but the rudeness and service was one or the worst I've ever come across.

A great place with a community vibe. The food is always awesome and homey, with big portions, and the service is great with genuinely friendly faces.

They host a ton of community events, so make sure to check one out!!

Cool vibes, they had some live music playing when we went. The food is pretty good, but it's vegetarian/vegan which I didn't know until later. So if you're a meat lover, this might not be your jam. They have neat art on the walls, and it's overall a nice place if you want to study, get some work done, or see some local music, improv, or slam poetry.

Decent hummus, if a little garlicky. Wontons were kind of soggy and flavorless, peanut sauce served with them was pretty bad. Edamame was soaking in sesame oil and inadequately salted.

10/10 sangria though. Super mellow atmosphere. Live entertainment.

Come here thirsty, not hungry.

Prices are really great and service has gotten faster lately. It takes way longer to get your turn to order than it does to actually get your food. Some of the food is GREAT (the muffins on the counter are always fantastic, and the bread they use is sooo good) and some notsomuch (the soup almost always sucks, and the tofu scramble is like 20 years behind current tofu scramble technology).

This place is great if you're looking for a super relaxed cafe atmosphere. Relaxed as in casual, it's quite busy on the weekends when we've been there because the all vegetarian fare is awesome!

Come for the kid pit, or children's thunder dome, or honestly just to join in with other parents having a beer while watching their kids out of the corner of their eye. Good beers on tap and tasty food options for adults and kids.

Been coming here for years.... my go to has always been Tofu Scramble. Delicious.
Hadn t been here for at least a year and today I ordered it and the dish is 75% potatoes and a few bites of tofu/veggies. Still delicious but pretty disappointing proportions. :-(
(Should really be listed as hash browns with a side of tofu scramble).

It's a good place to grab a quick and relatively affordable bite. They only offer vegetarian meals, but there's plenty to choose from. We came there for brunch, and the food was delicious, but the potatoes felt like they were warmed up, and some things on the plate arrived colder than one would want, so not quite there. For the most part, the food was seasoned well. They were also out of peanut butter that morning, which I felt was quite strange for a place that specializes in breakfast. Overall though, it was pretty good.

I had reservations for 3 via Eventbrite for the Story Telling with Drag Queens. We were turned away at the door due to over capacity. The person at the door claimed he didn't know anything about such reservations but did mention one other person had a similar reservation. Even though I had a confirmation email to prove my reservation we were not allowed in the venue. Very disappointed and confused.

Such a cute little spot with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Music, comedy and poetry shows happen regularly here, definitely worth stopping in and watching one. Extensive vegetarian menu with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink options.

I had a great time there, I love that they make all kinds of events and that they are not just like other restaurants, but its a place where alternative people can come and hangout without ending up in problems.

The food is fantastic, and the prices are more than reasonable. Portions are big too.
Service is friendly and attentive.
Live music, stand up, etc always made this place pop, and I am excited for this aspect to return after Covid!
The safety measures taken right now are pretty good too. I do wish to see some marker of a sanitized/unsanitized table since it is hard to tell if a table is cleaned before you pick where to sit.
