The staff are all friendly and the food is wholesome you are guarantied to leave satisfied.

Live shows in the evening, kid friendly during the day, gender neutral bathrooms.

The setting and casual vibe is great. Nice amount of menu options. However, the pot pie was pretty dry, which made it hard to finish. The Roasted Garlic Tortellini, however, was great.

Choose your meal wisely.

First time here. Food was okay, ordered the Stellar (scrambled eggs on English muffin with hollandaise) and the Basic (eggs, hashbrown, and toast) breakfasts. The hollandaise was missing lemon and was not good. Home fries were good, but my overall impression was lowered by the terrible service. The sandy haired woman woman barely greeted us, mumbled and avoided eye contact. The poor cook was shouting order up and then brought our food out to us when the only server wasn t being attentive. Maybe we got her on a bad day, but I am not going back.

Well, you have to line up to order your food
Then you go find a table, place seems quite clean, staff is friendly, eggs benny was quite good cubed potato hash some tasted not that good coffee refills are 50 cents, you have to surrender your cup because of covid and they give you a new one.
Prices are ok. The place is quite big but including my wife and I there were only about 10 people.
I have some pictures of what we ate, half eaten almost forgot to take the pictures

Have been going to this place for years and it is consistently awesome every time. I love the marble rye toast! Other favourites are the Jemlette and the French toast. It's always a good value and the coffee is fresh and hot. The staff are really nice and friendly. I love the mug collection as well! It's a great place to sit and chat and people-watch.

Cafe Deux has been very good to me for a long time, probably should have left this review ages ago. I've been there Monday nights for the poetry slam for years. They have a good beer list with lots of local favorites, they have lots vegan and vegetarian food at reasonable prices. The grilled cheese is a perfect quick bite. However, the important thing, the most important thing, is the staff are fantastic. Different organizations run events here all the time and arts events on the drive bring out lots of great people and some very tricky people. I can't count the number of times I've seen the staff of cafe deux handle tricky situations with professionalism and a good attitude. If you are checking out an event at cafe duex one evening, grab a drink and a snack, they do a lot for the Vancouver arts community. Seriously, the grilled cheese is my go to.

One of the better vegetarian places with reasonably priced items so that a family can enjoy a day at a restaurant. Food is always good, especially their burgers and chili. Breakfast menu is also worth it. I which they would replace the old, worn-out chairs though. They need to do some renovations to the place. Old chairs that exposes wood that can cut your butt is not good.

Good cafe, interesting atmosphere(semi-industrial, mid-class) order at the counter, but they will bring your food to you if you like.

Excellent vegitarian and vegan menu, notably some of the best vegan burgers I've had. Open minded and forward thinking enviorment.
Caution: they do not have meat on the menu, but have enough options that they don't need to, still, that matters to some people.

They have a low stage that is a nice childrens play area during the day, earning this establishment a 'child friendly' rating, and in use in the evenings for open mic or indie artists. Try the taco salad.

Popped into this cafe for some breakfast and ordered the Jemlette and a London fog almond latte. Super spacious and mindful of social distancing. The barista was very prompt and knowledgeable about their food menu. Food and service were great!

So disappointed with my meal yesterday. I ordered soup with gluten free bread, which you pay extra for, and I was served four very small end pieces that barely made up one slice of bread. I brought this to the server s attention and was told we use all the pieces . So, I paid for the heels of the bread. Who does this? I usually eat here at least once a week, but no more. You could have made this up by offering an extra slice to make up for the small end pieces, but you didn t. I will take my business else where. And I ll be sure to tell others of my experience.

Hipster camping food. They advertise a lot more than they deliver. Good thing it is relatively cheap. The hashbrowns have no flavour and were barely done (some not at all). You get your own coffee and water (in plastic kid cups). The hollandaise didn't have much flavour. The spinach eggs were decent. Probably won't return as I can do camping food at home.

One of THE best vegetarian places I ve been, and I m not even vegetarian! I didn t even realize it was vegetarian until the fourteenth time I went. The happy hour is a blast, the burgers are super cheap. I recommend a smile when you order, you might make a friend!

What a wonderful little vegetarian gem. We actually took a second to figure out it was all vegetarian (we were pretty sleepy too). Great selection to choose from. My only recommendation is if you are getting the burgers, remember to tell them to add toppings and condiments or else it can be very dry! Long lines during busy times but they do go down quickly. Worth the wait.

I love the basic breakfast: 2 eggs, rye toast, potato wedges and I add a side of veggie sausage smothered in ketchup. So. Good. Happy hour is a veggie burger and beer for really cheap as well (something crazy like $5). Very reasonable prices and fun events are held at night (pre COVID times). Many drink options including cider, coolers, coffee or smoothies. What more could you really ask for ;)

Great neighbourhood restaurant on a budget. Counter service where the food is brought to your table. The stage serves as a kids play area during the day. Breakfast served into the afternoon. Vegan and vegetarian options. Kids menu.

spacious relaxed bohemian cafe with such tasty burgers that you may not even notice that they're vegan. great draft beer, low prices, pleasant atmosphere, charming staff... just a nice place to spend 45 mins ahead of a movie at the Rio, a five minute walk to the south

Located in the heart of Commercial Drive at 2096 Commercial Drive near 2nd Avenue on the east side of the Street. A great place for stop by for some good food and some entertainment. A popular watering hole for locals and tourist alike.
Note: as commercial drive is quite busy meter parking is usually available. Please read the signs posted along the street and DO NOT PARK on residents only parking areas or you may be ticketed and towed.

This place always has a good energy to it, for a daytime or evening hangout. The kids' play area was much appreciated when my kid was in the 1-3 age range. Food is consistent and tasty. I used to go for the open mic nights back in the day and always enjoyed the interesting characters and performances.

I played music here with my band and was treated like a rock star by the staff. We came back the next day for dinner and had fantastic food and beer - the pierogies were incredible, and my friend s tortellini looked amazing. The vibe here was relaxed and jovial, the art on the walls was really good, and we had quite an eclectic audience for the music, many language could be heard, and people from all walks of life were sharing tables, listening to music and eating and drinking together. I would come back to perform, eat, and drink any time. If you have not been, check it out!

This review is for the Fictionals Improv show. It was advertised as an "all ages" show, which they repeated several times throughout the evening. However, they spent 80% of the time talking about sex, having an entire segment based on "sex with me is like _____" and debating the merits of 69'ing. While, it was funny as an adult, this was Extremely inappropriate for the youth attending and I was unable to enjoy the show fully. Please do not take your children/youth to this show. Despite saying they are all ages, they are not. Would only recommend attending if your group is all adults.

the live classical guitar music was a treat but the food was not. I was extremely disappointed in their food. I m not entirely sure how you mess up nachos but there was literally no flavour and no cheese. Shocking considering it s a restaurant. As a human being who s had the privilege of having nachos ranging from excellent to decent, my taste buds were dulled and offended. Dont. get. the. nachos. I don t know if my taste buds will ever fully recover. If I could sue, I would.

I thought this place was LGBT friendly. Maybe LGB friendly, but they're definitely not trans friendly. I suggested this place to a friend who ended up having a bad experience. I don't know the full details, but some guy working cashier said something that caused my friend a huge amount of distress. My friend came back to our table nearly in tears and said he was leaving. When pressed further, he said the cashier was making him uncomfortable. That's all I got out of him. He is openly transgender. The one big thing that causes him distress and panic is when someone is being transphobic to him. I know this situation had something to do with it.

Oh well, the food is overpriced and not that great anyway. The only good thing about this place is the poetry and open mic nights.

The food is wonderful but disappointed when we had to wait for an hour for our breakfast to arrive. Finding it was given to someone else by mistake. Less wanting to go to this place now. Although we got a free muffin. Really?

The service was a little weird... I couldn't hear the counter attendant and had to keep asking them to repeat themselves. They also kept staring at me and were eating and drinking while putting through my order. I felt that was not only not professional but against Food Safe regulations. The saving grace was the food. I had the pineapple tofu burger and it was super tasty but I probably won't be going back because of the Food Safe concerns previously stated.

The cafe deux soleils has been around forever and it wears its age with pride. The staff are pleasant and unobtrusive. The chairs are mismatched, the tables a bit wobbly and the booths are randomly sized. Like a robust grandparent, you don't want to be rough with it but you probably won't be able to hurt it either. The coffee is coffee and refills are 50 cents. The food is simple and tasty. Sometimes there is live music. There is plenty of space for kids. You can come in and see toddlers drawing with chalk next to a business person who is sharing an outlet with a student. Nobody gets in each other's way and everybody is welcome. You should try it.

Average food taste but very cheap breakfast. The cashier was friendly. But the server who brought our coffee and water to the table grabbed the rims of the cups and glasses every time... exact spot we need to put our mouth to.. not the best feeling to see the practice during the covid. I ll order the take-out next time!
