Located on East 2nd Street in Mineola, this old fashioned bullet type diner is the source of all good things barbecue! Southern, definitely decadent, bring only your appetite and cash. It is time to enjoy their authentic, fresh Louisiana Crawfish Boils. You'll taste a warm spicy broth, corn, and potato. They do crispy fried chicken like no other, and their Dixie Mac and Cheese is a meal in itself - so try sharing it. They serve large biscuits with flavored butter or with sausage and gravy. Their brisket is delicious with a creamy brown sauce, and the ribs almost fall off the bone. I love their Brown Sugar Sweet Potato Mash, and if you saved room, get their Turtle Pie. The food is comfort at its best!

Off the beaten path, this place reflects very southern, very cajun cuisine. It's done well and flavorful. We were lucky with a holiday menu of turducken and fried turkey. It's a homey place with homey service. It's like eating in a time-dated diner.

I love this place! First found it when a coworker took me for a birthday dinner back in 2016 and I've been going ever since. The Muffaletta is 'out of this world' and it is exactly how New Orleans Central Grocery makes it. Great service, great staff. Desserts are also outrageous. I live on the East End of Long Island and the trip is completely worth it any day.

If you are hankering for an authentic Big Easy lunch or brunch, the Biscuit and Barbeque in Mineola has your name on it. Delicious and savoury Pulled Pork and Biscuit with a Sunnyside egg hit the spot. The Dixie Fried Chicken over waffles was a nice treat. The key lime pie and Louisiana Turtle Pie satisfied my sweet tooth. The cook hails from K-Paul's Restaurant in New Orleans, which spells genuine, the real deal. Cash only please.

Got there just before the dinner rush. Waited about 10 minutes for a table it's a small diner but worth the wait. The staff were friendly, the food amazing and the environment cozy. I'm definitely going back with my family.

I thought I found a hole in the wall kind of place. I ordered the southern fried chicken, It was very bland the cheddar jalepano mashed potato was flavorless and the biscuit with raspberry butter was very dry I had to sip my drink just to wash it down. I could if had better chicken in Queens for half the price. I can only say I like the nostalgic look from the outside.

Place is small yet cozy. Not well suited for big parties for 5 or less people is ideal. The food was great. Their sides could use some more variety but for what they offered it was very good and you're allowed to bring your own alcohol so that's a plus. Would go again with some friends.

Visit date was last month in August 2015, 3- adults for dinner. Arrived 5:30 on a Saturday, easy access and parking in recently paved area. Overall the food, choices and service were exemplary. We were immediately greeted and seated in a booth. There is a seating limit of approximately 18. We were met immediately by a friendly and knowledgeable gentleman and we knew in advance about BYOB and cash only. He brought over plastic-ware for our beer and wine (I'm not that fussy at this level of comfort food restaurant that I need fine glassware, LOL) We tried the Fried green tomatoes (thick and awesome), mac and cheese (superb and tasty) as appetizers, then Brisket, Shrimp and ribs, yams, beans and of course dessert, apple cobbler and key lime pie. I have been to ever BBQ location on Long Island both chains and family owned. There are only two things I would change, 1. Please put back up shades or curtains or even reflective film on the windows, way too bright and warm. 2. Could you move a bit closer towards Suffolk County.

Thanks, great experience.

This was our first visit and will not be our last! You want a down home meal at a place that makes you feel right at home then you must come here..We started with our Appetizer, Stuffed Sweet Potato with Pulled Pork, the Potato and Meat was beyond tender and delicious..My Husband enjoyed his Shrimp Po Boy and I selected Pulled Pork with Beans and Rice and Potato Salad for my sides - The Potato Salad had a heavier mustard taste than I am used to however it was still good and oh my goodness..The Banana Cream Pie for Dessert was DELICIOUS!!! PS - We also ordered a Biscuit and Gravy - Let's just say my husband and I will be enjoying our leftovers tonight!!

Cute airstream type of restaurant. Only a few tables. I am not sure if they take reservations i wouldn't think so, since it is so small. We went for brunch/breakfast. Food was good especially the cheese grits. Staff were nice. will go back again.

My husband and I wanted BBQ after leaving a doc appt. I Googled and found this place - just a few blocks away. Very deceiving from the outside... you go in and it's a small diner setting with excellent food! Creole/BBQ cuisine and a few unrelated extras, all to die for. The Muffeletta was fantastic. We were stunned by the quality.
If you want ambiance, it's not the place - seating is not roomy or plentiful (after 2:30 and before 5 on weekdays are the best time to go) Great quality food and HUGE portions for the price. The wait (maybe 20 mins) is worth it. You won't be disappointed.

Pleasantly surprised! The food was really good. I had the blackened catfish, yams, baked beans. It was the right amount of food that didn't leave me feeling heavy. Service was prompt. Vintage diner in the middle of an industrial park. Real NCIS lol. Mineola's best kept secret for sure! Cash only though...

Neighborhood landmark! Stellar service.

Neighborhood landmark! Stellar service.

Chicken and waffles are ridiculously good. Deep fried okra is a must. The beef brisket was good but a lot of the beef was very fatty (depends on preference).

Try coming at an off hour in order to get a table otherwise you ll spend a decent amount of time waiting.

Literally one of the greatest restaurants on long island. Hands down the best place to get authentic southern Cajun food in the New York area. Haven't had a bad thing here yet! Must save room for their home made desserts.

If you want quality food prepared well at a fair price with a super attentive staff then this is the place for you. Worth a drive from anywhere for the best biscuits North of the Mason Dixon line.

I was disappointed that plain eggs and other traditional breakfasts are no longer on the weekday menu (weekends only). The Cajun omlet was very tasty and very spicy, but I was in the mood for a plain omlet.

I dont know why this place gets good reviews. Its charming, in a way, the atmosphere is as described, a trailer with good ol' boy tunes playing. The staff seemed very kind and helpful and the food arrived very quickly. On the positive side, its byob, as stated earlier the waitstaff is friendly and the iced coffee is very good and they didnt seem to charge for fountain refills, which is cool. On the downside the food is definately low quaility and sub par. Deep fried chicken with no real flavor and a small amount of meat. The biscuts and gravy are worse than dennys, youre better off going up the road. The brisket was atrocious, tasted old and very fatty and similar to something the lunchlady would unenthusiastically slap onto my tray in highschool. It was gross. The waffles are really unimpressive and dry AF and whatever they pass off as raspberry butter seems to be butter with a little bit of red food coloring. It was actually very disappointing which sucked because it was also not low priced. Im no food snob, but i appreciate a good meal and this place doesnt deliver if thats what you are anticipating. I always say, I just want good food at a fair price and this place missed the mark by a mile. Its grossly overpriced for the small portions and meager quality. There are much better places to eat if youd like a bang for your buck. I wish this place well, but im not about to blow smoke up their a**es and pretend they are something they aren't. They need to step their game up immensely. The fact that people are raving about this place is shocking. Are these paid reviews? Are they friends of the staff and owners? Who knows. Maybe people get super drunk and eat here and think its awesome, all i know is it sucked.

A very cool restaurant with a very old-timey vibe. I love that its in an old train car, not something you really see much nowadays, and the quality of the food certainly fits well with the setting. Its always very flavorful and delicious, without being too rich. Last night I had the fried catfish po' boy and enjoyed it immensely. Some of the entrees can be a little on the more expensive side, but all the po' boys are ten bucks, a tough price to beat. Also, the grits here are fantastic. I didn't even get them with cheese, just plain, but they were so flavorful that they didn't even need any, I could eat those every day!

I had the brisket and the portion seemed small, especially for the price and reviews I had read previous to going. It was fresh and moist but lacked flavor. The brisket had hardly any smoke flavor, no rub and bark to speak of. It also comes with bbq sauce already on it, that should be an option, but I guess without it, it'd be even more tasteless. I would like to go back and try different menu item, but the prices make it hard to justify. Staff was very friendly. If you're going to stay on long island and want to taste real bbq, you either have to do it yourself or go to competitions where they let you taste their products.

Had some really great jambalaya. My wife had the fried chicken which was ok. The desserts are wonderful. Definitely plan to go back. The first visit may have only been a 4 but it looked like it has potential for a 5.
