What more is there to say than the best beer in Amsterdam! A must!
What a beautiful location for a brewery. The beers are still authentic and taste great. Nice that this kind of breweries exist.
Cute place, but beer was mediocre at best. We got the taster flight (10 euro for 5 tasters) and none really stood out as enjoyable. Relaxing atmosphere though!
Place to visit. Spartan and raw. Possibility of drinking craft beers too fast to run too many customers. Very fruity beers, quite good.
Fun to drink a beer at the brewery. A lot of beers which you can not buy outside from here
Simply cool brewery with delicious beers and matching small snacks such as cheese or salami. Overall very relaxed atmosphere, perfect to start the evening.
Fabulous beer selection with great outside seating. We had six beers and everything was fantastic.
Excellent! Worth walking too. Nice choice of beers and snack foods. Flight is good way to get started. You can't go wrong here!
Highly recommended, they have a tasting of five craft beers for 10, and a bar to order something to snack on and accompany, I recommend the mixed table of cheese and salami for 6. The atmosphere is very lively, the only but, the closing time, very early!
Long quick lines. Staff gets your beer to you fast! And drinking beneath a windmill is a wind-wind.
A beer barn; not for craft beer despite being part of the craft beer trail.
Great beer and just as good service and cured meat and cheese.
The only mill inside Amsterdam. It is also a brewery and there is also a cafe.
Amazing place. Great beer. Ijwit and Zatte are the best!
Cozy place for a special beer, nice and busy. With a particularly nice story.
5 stars for the beers. It's just too busy to enjoy them.
Have you had a drink in a windmill yet? If not, this is the place to go. Great selection of their own beer. The place is usually pretty crowded, but the counter service is fast. Friendly atmosphere.
Great patio, decent beer selection, friendly staff. Just not my favorite micro brews
Great for a tasting beer with cheese and an excellent sausage. And why not a t-shirt or sweatshirt in memory of Amsterdam?
The tour was short, but interesting and you get a free beer. The beers are pretty good.
Great looking brewery and taproom. Had a paddle of their brews but nothing stood out
Very characteristic restaurant, young and always available staff! The full taste of their beers is the best solution to make you an idea, served in small glasses on wooden bracket. The kitchen does not have a wide selection of dishes but the quality is undoubted!
Nice location to sit and enjoy a beer, you have to order your beer yourself because it is often very busy there. But otherwise they have very good service and great beer!
For everyone a beer to their own taste on a nice terrace, but also for a drink or a glass of wine
Great beer! And it's in a windmill, whaaaaaaat!? How cool is that!? Not much in the way of food, so fortify yourself at a real restaurant before you go. They have small snacks (sausage or cheese). Can get reaaaaaly packed, even in the middle of winter not during tourist season, so go early or be prepared to stand. That being said, I've brought my toddler with no problems, so it's a space that is well designed for the crowds.
It's a craft brewery in a windmill, what more do you want?
Although it is a bit far from the center it is worth a visit, if you do not want to walk you can always use the tram. Good craft beers and good price, depending on the time you go you will be impossible to sit inside or outside and you will have to drink your beer standing on the sidewalk, watch the schedules, you can visit the factory.
Great beer.. great place to spend some time, and one of the best places in Amsterdam to visit..
Nice place to be, specially in the summer. Tastefull beer!
We came for the tour which we thought would be free. It turned out to be a short tour that cost 5 but it was quite interesting and came with a token for a free beer which was excellent. They also have very good bar snacks. Overall I would do it again but not as a replacement for the Heineken brewery.
Cozy, good beer and easily recognizable by the mill
Beer is good but personnel is very skilled in screwing up with the customers experience. It's a shame.
We could only be outside taking pictures. I was crowded. It was very cold.
For the beer lovers the Brouwerij t IJ is a must stop place. It s a local brewery operating in a active windmill. The atmosphere is great and the beer selection is even better.
It s a good place to hang with friends but it s also great to go alone, I do that all the time!
For a real dutch beer that s the place to go.
Beautiful place, near the only mill still present in the center of Amsteram. Present a wide selection of beers and even the cutting boards are not bad. The environment is very nice, the walls are furnished with shelves with collections of beers from all over the world, the only flaw is that it closes very early, around late afternoon.
They make their own bier... very popular place in Amsterdam! Always lots of people of any age...
Brewery at the foot of a mill, aesthetically beautiful.
Easily accessible by tram, with the stop not even 200 meters away. I was there one afternoon and it was packed with people of all ages. They have an almost infinite selection of beers, local and international.
Amazing craft Brewery.
Built in an old Bathhouse underneath a windmill. Cool setting.
Beer Tours on the weekend on Fridays and Saturdays. 6.50 with a free beer.
Beer tasting and Housemade sausage are fantastic.
very cozy garden up front and good and quick service
A brasserie not to be missed in Amsterdam.
In addition to the excellent house beer and the charm of the windmill, you will find a good atmosphere. Locals and tourists alike like to meet there.
The best brewery I visited while in Amsterdam, the beer was great and they had some interesting finger food items as well. Can probably get pretty crowded here at times, but still had a chill atmosphere.
Great beer! Also a nice variety of locally brewed beers to choose from! I even bought a T-shirt as a souvenir.
Awesome. Flights are well selected. Great snack menu. Wonderful beer.
Good place to go if you want to taste local craft beer. Beer tasting sets were the best.
Got served quick and the beer was very good. Very busy. The cheese and sausage combo was very good...
Great beers, nice bar staff. a pity that it is only open until 8 p.m.
Cozy ambiance. Staff very friendly. We enjoyed our beer with cheese and chorizo sausage. Depending of the hour it could be very busy. You can sit inside our outside in the terrace. Definitely a place to visit in Amsterdam!
Top beer at a quaint brewery. You can also talk to people quickly and there are little things to snack on.
Great choice of beers and snacks. Design of the place very Dutch and beautiful :)
Don't waste your time drinking a bad beer in a green bottle Heine...! Life is to short to drink bad beers, go to the bouwerij't IJ and enjoy!
Highly recommended. It is a bar with a warm and relaxed atmosphere, where you can experience how the locals have fun, chatting, listening to music along with a cheese board and some very good beers. In summer (if it is not so full), it is highly recommended to look for tables with a parasol outside because, you will have in the background a large mill of the time next to a canal, in which you only have to let time pass by entering a capsule of absolute satisfaction and relaxation, you wish it never ends.
1) In Leidseplein Square, you are located at the tram stop in front of the old Hirsch & Cie Company Building (Hirschgebouw), you easily identify it as it is the only building with a dome tower on top. There you take Tram 7 direction Flevopark as the last stop; Nine stops later you get off at the Pontanusstraat stop which is just 100 meters from the bar, walking to where you see the canal.
2) From Amsterdam Central Station, you are located at the tram stop with number 9 in front of the Station. There you take Tram 9 towards Diemen as the last stop; Eight stops later you get off at the Alexanderplein stop which is just 600 meters from the bar, going up Sarphatistraat street.
The best thing about visiting it, is that you can ask the table for a tasting or mixed of all the beers that are offered with different flavors, which allows you to experience different bodies and flavors. The best you'll enjoy in Amsterdam, without a doubt, despite not being able to pronounce its name easily.
Came on a Friday afternoon at 2p right after they opened. We were greeted promptly and gotten drinks however it took over 30 minutes more to get a food order in. The people next to us sat down and ordered within minutes while my daughter and I sat with nothing in front of us for 10 minutes even after that. I couldn't make eye contact with anyone for 30 minutes to help. It became a joke and we were about to walk out finally after 30 minutes when someone finally made eye contact with me and came to take my order. After that, I had to ask 3 times more for my beer, even after the food came. There were only three other tables inside with patrons so they were absolutely not busy. That plus the beer was not 2 but 4-6 and not much variety. Even the Belgium's were on the fruity side.
I asked for our check 20 minutes ago and am still waiting. Ugh. WTFFFFFFFF!?!?!?!
SIGH. I cannot recommend based on beer or service. The food at the next table looks good though. Ours? We got pub food so it is what it is...
Oh there is free WiFi and a cool looking windmill but both of those are free. ;-)
Oh and they finally brought a bill after I asked again but it was someone else's. I'll take it though, I got a discount so I'm considering it just retribution for suffering the 90 minute visit for only 2 beers.
Brewery inprescindible if you go to Amsterdam! I recommend tasting 5 beers for 10. The beers are great.
Easily 5 stars with the amazing setting, really low prices (2 something a beer) and strong delicious beers.
If you come to Amsterdam don't miss this place.
