The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to behold nature as it was intended. The grounds are exquisite. You can get loss in your thoughts while surrounded by the beauty and majesty of giant trees, flowering plants, and bushes. If you are visiting New York or you are a New Yorker and don't live in Brooklyn, then, this place is a must see. I highly recommend it! Enjoy!!!

An amazing garden in the heart of Brooklyn. A diverse community that provides education and builds awareness around environmentally sustainable practices. The BBG is one of the best things about Brooklyn.

11th garden I've visited this year and I can't decide whether it's the best, or Dallas's garden is; either way, among the best. It's stunning, expansive but mostly cohesive and way better than being out in the city. They really care and it shows. Great curation, great variety, just wonderful

It may be a little too late. But when you live in the 5 Boroughs, and so close by there is such an amazing place (i admit that flower will always be my weakness;), it is hard not to visit there every day.
The best time to go there is of course the spring time, but the place is so relaxing, quiet and colorful, that you will enjoy it every day during the year.

This is such a beautiful place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. An massive range of flora (and fauna) from all parts of the world. I loved relaxing in the Shakespeare Garden and seeing all of the different trees/plants mentioned in his plays. They offer 1 hour comprehensive guided tours and fun activities for the kids. Only downfall was that some of the plants were quite dried out and non-existent from the heat of the summer sun.
TIP: Bring lunch and relax in the Chinese garden with the sounds of the waterfalls in the background. Just remember not the feed the wildlife and to throw your trash in the bins after!

Came in early winter, when much of the foliage has wilted, but still had a great time walking around and enjoying the beautiful winter scenery. The park is very easy to navigate and slopes gently in places.

I've been living in this world for 41 years. With global warming being "the way it is now," I didn't expect this garden to have any plants. So, imagine my surprise when I walk through the big gates to see a cornucopia of nature's little boys. I did not want this! For decades, I've prepared myself for the inevitable death of the Earth and all whom inhabit it. Now I have hope. Curse you, The Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

The gardens are beautiful but don't bother parking in the lot because it's a complete and total rip off.the parking attendants are a joke and spend the entire time on their cell phones not directing cars. Attempting to exit the lot is pure chaos and because we waited on line to exit for 35 minutes we were charged for an additional hour because there's nothing they can do about it. Total scam and not worth the extra hour you'll have to sit waiting to exit.

Better to try to find parking on the street and not ruin the end of what would be a nice afternoon.

Nice and cozy botanical garden. The best time to visit is spring but even in winter your will find something interesting to explore.
For many years every Tuesday was free entry. But this year they are changed rules and you can get for free just on Friday morning (till 12 pm).

We love the Brooklyn Botanic Garden dearly. My wife was a child gardener there when she was a kid. We are members of the garden and enjoy the extended hours for members only every Wednesday in the summer. I think the place is 24 acres and they have managed to use every inch of space in a meaningful way. I love the conservatories with the different climates interpreted in them. The rose garden will bloom soon. The Japanese Garden is truly something to contemplate. The cherry esplanade just had a big festival. There is an area where when the Spanish Bluebells bloom in May it just takes your breath away. I love the fact that they have spared no effort in improving and beautifying the place in recent years, and even as a write they are working on a large portion of the place to make it even better.

It was a really lovely place. They had a discovery area and a children's section. They can touch things and learn about the plants and the impotance of bees and birds, which are so necessary for gardens. There was a green near a pond where there was several children running around and playing.

I really liked the Desert Pavilion and the bonsai trees. The Lily Pond was fantastic! They had coy.

There we're several smaller individual gardens throughout.

It was nice for an afternoon outside with a nice little walk. It is $15 for adults, $8 for children under 17. I believe it's free for those under 12

When you see cherry blossoms in spring, you must go. Really beautiful place! Old, I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that Tuesday was free all day and Saturday was free until 12 noon. A place that reminds me of every year cherry blossoms!
