great and helpful staff. we have 2 under 2 and they had a blast.
Staff is working hard to stay covid safe. That does require more patience from attendents. So if you have a bad time it's usually from impatient people who refuse to recognize the current crisis. Some staff seem annoyed as well, but this isn't Disney.
Great place for families.. Must get their early to be able to experience everything
I never walked so much in my life before but it was worthy, had a awesome time.
Polar bear, also silverbacks great walk clean and nice
Was quite unhappy that I would have had to pay extra to see certain exhibits. Not planning to take my grandson there again
Very disappointing because the staff are so unwilling to help and so far removed from caring about your questions. Admissions didn't accept my student ID, so the unexpected $19.99 fee was an unexpected displeasure to start the day. We spent More
The Zoo environment is full on Green world But let you know guys please Wear good walking shoes becoz u gonna walking around 8 miles believe me. My son love it but his complaint about walking hill and down hahah. rite now in this situation all the innocent Animals are very lazy and less.
This is huge park and you need a whole full day in order to see everything. Although Wednesdays are free, I would avoid going this day because it is so crowded.
Family and friends love the Bronx Zoo. I gracefully recommend that you visit the Bronx Zoo, if you haven't.
I would recommend this zoo because it had a great display of anamails
Pretty fun zoo that takes a day and more to walk around. There is so much to see here! The tigers and snakes are my favorite. Would definitely recommend going on Wednesdays (free), and taking advantage of the entire zoo... bring lots of water and prepare to walk!
Get here early as there's a lot more to see and do here than you'll have time for in a single day!
Overall it's a good place. Just had better diaper changing stations.
These is the zoo l recommended to anyone that come to visit NY,
I love the fact that it's open at 4am .The monkeys were a bit annoyed that I was there that early but quickly got over it after I offered then a beer to split among the family.
Great place. Too big to see everything in one visit. Possibly the best zoo I have been to, and I have been to a lot.
Still a fun place to visit during the day or nightly events!
Lots of space, many interesting animals, always a treat.
bring your own food..& small chair..it's a lot of walking..my children enjoyed it..
You can never go wrong here. If you are a family with young children opt for the "FAMILY ZOOS PLUS (P)" for unlimited access with free parking every time. We renew our membership every September so we can attend the zoo after beach season and throughout the fall and spring. Bring picnic essentials and plan to spend the day. Great activities, lots to see, and some of the most beautiful landmark buildings in NY.
It was super crowded due to free day Wednesday, but overall we had a great day!
Today's Bronx Zoo is just amazing. I remember as a kid I thought is was just awesome, but today with all the added attractions, it's like I was just here for the 1st time! The crew are friendly and willing to help. It's affordable compare to other zoo I've been to. There are landmarks that makes the Bronx. Yankee Stadium and The Bronx Zoo.
What a beautiful Zoo!!:) I would highly recommend visiting, pack some drinks a few snacks and wear some comfortable shoes and you will be good to go!! I purchased our tickets from Groupon, they have a great all inclusive deal.
Every time we come here we have a great time. Excellent place to go with the family
Great night with the Holiday Lights and not over crowded.
I visited the zoo on 8/30/2020 and as per an employee, it was the most crowded it had been since reopening. My 2.5 year old and I really enjoyed the outdoor exhibits but didn't get to see some indoor animal exhibits such as the Gorillas or go on the monorail due to long lines. The lines were long because they have social distancing measures in place and don't full the carts or exhibits to capacity which is really good but creates longer wait times. The line for the monorail was at least an hour. It got more crowded as the day went on. There were many hand sanitizing stations and I would say at least 90% of guests were properly wearing masks. I plan on returning during the week when children go back to school and the weather is nicer so my daughter can see things we missed out on the first trip.
It was great! I had a nice time with my fiancee just the two of us.
Not sure what I was expecting. Quiet day at the zoo. Most everything was open in terms of animal exhibits. Most of the extra food / beverage and novelty shops were closed since it was a weekday.
The best zoo around. It's huge, so don't expect to see it all in 1 day. There's lots to do with little kids. I believe you can bring in your own food, as many people do. The special exhibits like petting zoo, butterflies & gorillas are worth the extra $. We also like the camel ride, nature trek for our little ones. When you buy a membership, you can premium with all special exhibits access. And it's good for all area zoos and aquarium. Enjoy!
Great zoo. Up in the Bronx in case you missed the name of the zoo. Lots of animals. Because it s a zoo. And it s in the Bronx. In case you missed it this is a zoo in the Bronx. There s animals there. They do animal things in a contained area. Only 3/5 because they make you buy a ticket for special exhibits.
Best place to spend the day with family and friends.
Unexpectedly GREAT. Park is enormous, exhibits are fairly good, and overall a very pleasant experience.
we were extra excited to visit the Bronx zoo.
we have visited zoo's from San Diego to Orlando and I will say the Bronx zoo has the best bird display we have seen . the zoo it self lacked signage a lot of the enclosures were empty and there was few place to feed our family anything in the park very disappointed about that considering we don't live in New York. we loved how the park was shaded by the great forest and there was plenty of places to sit. we unfortunately didn't get a lot of assistance from employees in the grounds but had a great experience in the gift shop. would I come back. I don't really think so once in my life time is ok, to bad though I had some high expectations.
they have a lot of animals and its a super educational experience. It just sucks that they charge extra for the nice exhibits. Also its very crowded and filled with people struggling to wrangle their children. But that's to be expected, it is the zoo after all
Not what it used to be. Visited last month and none of the main animals were out. Also, They advertise that Healthcare workers are free and refuse to give you a code. I purchased the tickets was told I would need to speak to someone at the zoo. Nobody was able to help me in they responded to my email Inquirity almost 2 weeks later and refused to refund my ticket even though I am a healthcare worker... they then gave me a code and... wasn't too pleased. Sadly I will prolly not go back in this life time
Love this zoo!!!! I went there with my kids ,they had lots of fun.Just purchase your tickets online , it includes monorail ,wild world and bug carasoul free .You should go and enjoy there.
What an amazing day we had at the zoo, I really wasn't sure what to expect initially and I was blown away by what I found. The zoo is huge, beautiful, animals well-kept and all-around a wonderful place to visit. Were also intrigued by the history of this zoo which is unlike any zoo I've ever been to before! Can't wait to go back: ROAR!!
So much fun. It was a school trip, so not much time to enjoy. We had a beautiful day for it.
Will return again for a trip on our own.
So much to see, and worth the visit if you have a total experience pass. Various exhibits like the Congo which is amazing, are not included with general admission.
Great place to spend a hot summer day and see some beautiful animals
not much value for the paid..exhibits were poor
merchandise stir overpriced not quality goods
food selection terrible
This, is hands down the best zoo. It's huge with tons of exhibits. The signs are pretty good, and I've been to the zoo in philadelphia, as well as all the zoos in NYC. This one rocks, and worth the visit, kids will love the camel ride and tree-top adventure.
It was a good place, the zoo animals are great and there are plenty to see. You can bring your own lunch and there are plenty of places to seat and eat. Get ready there is a lot of walking. It was a good time.
Join as a member after a few visits it pays for itself. You can bring your own food and drinks to have a day out the way you want it. If you forget anything at home the zoo has it to buy.
The animals are the cutest and there is always something to learn about the animals. My children and I love the zoo and recommend the visit.
There were alot of animals to see. Especially the lions, zebras, chimps, butterflies, zip line experience and 4D cinema. The gorilla's were entertaining. It's a very difficult zoo to finish in a day. I tried my best to do all the available shows in a day but I couldn't finish. And yes there is a train tour of the zoo. You get to see and elephant tiger I think I got to see a bear as well. Diffrent types of horses, zebras . Very clean bathrooms aswell. One tip is to eat before you enter the zoo because food is a bit more expensive inside the zoo. Get alot of water because you'll be walking for a long time.. I think you can get a zoo ride but you need to book early enough.. Finally Wednesday is a very good day to visit the zoo because you can attend and use all the attractions with just 1 ticket.
HEALTHY, CLEAN BEAUTIFUL JOB EVERYONE! !!! & LOVE YOUR TV SHOW
Another no school day, we whole family go to the BROXN ZOO together,it s so funny even raining. The zoo is known for its large and diverse animal collection and its award-winning exhibitions. The main exhibit in the park is the Congo Gorilla ,Northeast Tiger and Chinese alligator from China, as well as tigers, lions, white rhinoceros, giraffes, crocodiles, etc. And the there are also many animals from the hot jungle world and the African plains. Oh, did you see Peacock walking in the middle of the road before? Anyway, my first time.Worth trip[ ]
So amazing
Great for the whole family from great grandpa to little Bob in the stroller
Very friendly staff
Lots of views and animals to see
Areas where you can sit and eat if you have food
Dress comfortable to be able to walk around
We went for the holiday lights show. It was impossible to socially distance. The way they organized everything all the attractions and food were packed in one area. Even though they claim to have limited attendance, there were still hundreds of people tightly congregated around the live shows and the cafe. Other than that, the place is great and the lit animals were beautiful.
While the zoo environment is pleasant enough and nicely landscaped, I found it unnecessarily commercial: from the two-tiered pricing structure that forces you to buy the "Total Experience" package if you want to actually see all of the animals (we didn't, having assumed it was only for gimmicks like camel rides, the monorail and the carousel), to the slightly disappointing gift shop that had countless stuffed toys but little else and the overpriced cafeteria with its offering of the usual cheeseburger n fries fare. Had we understood what each ticket included from the deliberately misleading website we may have bought the full ticket online beforehand, but the walk up price of $34 was too much for us, so we settled for the basic experience, which still allowed us to see most of the animal exhibits. Madagascar and the tropical birds areas were both particularly good, although a few too many enclosures were closed for repairs when we visited (Oct 2015). I suppose the rainy day didn't help, but the weather also meant we had the place virtually to ourselves and most animals were still visible (apart from those we were barred from seeing on our paupers tickets).
Many of the animals were not visible in their exhibit and the ones that were looked depressed. The Congo exhibit was nice. The monkeys were very animated.
Great place to visit during these troubled times. Not everything was open but I think it was due more to the season than the lock down.
Great zoo! So many animals to see with your family. Free on Wednesday! Definitely check it out.
Was nice haven't gone in years, but I remember the train car ride, was more slower than a long time ago, couldn't get pictures really to bumpy, But was nice, food and soda kinda of expensive.
Went around closing time in a weekday. Would recommend going during the day on a weekday. The zoo is best without crowds and the jungle world exhibit is a must see
The residents of the Bronx Zoo, much as their enviroment is pristine and by human standards lovely they live an artificial live. They live in captivity.
None of the migratory species are able to migrate because they exist in enclosed and controlled environments for the sole purpose o human recreation.
Oh don't take me wrong... the zoo keepers do a very good job of maintaining the environment, its flora, and habitat. After all it is a billion dollar industry.
Humans are moved on trolleys from one exhibit to another experiencing the captive wildlife through bars, glass, and moats.
I love animals and I live across the street. Also love the butterfly's. Are my favorite.
It s an ok zoo. It s way too busy and it s very pricey. Parking is $17 and entry is $40 per person. The exhibits seem run down. There are better zoos.
I love the Zoo although I'm kind of opposed to locking up animals. They do seem to treat them well though. The zoo is well kept. There are fun things to do there like feeding the giraffe and face painting.
Ever had the fantasy, that if you were rich enough you would own your zoo? If so, visit the zoo during one of those not so chilly Winter day and it would feel like you are the only one there. If you do go, spring for the $25 [it is cheaper also in the winter versus the $34 in the warmer months] unlimited access to all the exhibits, rides, 4-D movie and interactions. Some of the exhibits require you to pay extra like the Congo exhibit and the bug carousel but is included in the unlimited ticket offer. The zoo also has different attractions depending on the season you go as well. I was able to get a "private" viewing of the sea lions being feed which they do daily at 12pm and 3pm, which is nice because since no one else was there vying for a piece of the action. I was also able to ride the carousel twice solo and the staff was more than accommodating to it. The only downside is because it was cold, some of the exhibits are closed or the animals are in a different area away from public view. And the zoo closes at 4:30pm but some of the exhibits closes 4pm or 30 minutes before closing. Also, if you want to go the zoo but don't feel like shelling out the $25 go on Wednesdays when the zoo is free. Be sure to bring water [the vending machines were broken and most of the little pop up stores were closed] and wear comfortable shoes.
Get zoo lots of animals would recommend the total experience ticket
Looked great from the outside but I was just walking by on my way to the Botanical Gardens, which are gorgeous.
It was not a problem with the same time as a result of the most important thing is that the company.
We spent the day yesterday.9/30, at the Zoo..as a grandparent, I was disappointed!
The Dinosaur safari is to me, a giant con job. My 15 minute tram ride to see dinosaurs models was 15 minutes long, after we waited on a line for over 2 hours with hundreds of kids...not fair!
In addition, there are hours snd hours of idling truck engines..why not let the families walk through with group guides?
A good experience for my 2 year old baby girl Bday!!
Believe the hype! Go here for a combo of entertainment and education!
Amazing zoo. Love it! Especially with the two panda arrivals, that I heard of recently. But! why such a rich and amazing zoo can't make a decent space for elephants??? Three of the animals had died in 4 years! It doesnt make NY great! On contrary we'll be losing lots of tourists from across the globe who select a city with a great zoo, for the family vacation.
There are a lot of very rich people philanthropists in NY who can make our zoo a much better one and thus attract more tourists to visit NY! We live in the Greatest city, but our zoo is not even in top 20 across the globe.
People of NY want a great elephant exibit to see, learn and enjoy! Or let go of the elephants to the proper and decent sanctuary and lose even more tourists. (So in the, future all great cities and zoos in the world have elephant, except NY).
Admission is free on every Wednesday. It's lovely place for kids and elders too.
Best trip for summer. My kids are always happy to go
I have been visiting since I was a child and love all of the changes. Wednesday's are tough once school lets out and summer camps usually bombard the zoo making the experience less than desirable.
Other than that, go to the zoo the children will enjoy it.
This zoo is the least like an "animal jail" that I've seen. I love that they have ostriches in with the giraffes. A juvenile giraffe was galloping around chasing the ostriches who clearly instigated the game. I've seen wild giraffes in Africa, but I never before got to see one playing! The enclosures for the animals seem mostly very well designed to try to replicate habitats. Only drawback, lots of the exhibits require additional charges, making it an expensive place to visit. To bad the city so cut the zoo's funding a few years ago.
My family and i attended Boo at the Zoo, and previously on several occasions and i don't think we'll be going back ever again. The zoo is ridiculously expensive, and if you don't go prepared with food and water, it'll cost you an arm and a leg to buy it, not to mention it's fast food. You can always try Wednesday, which is a free day, but if you're driving, be prepared to still pay for parking and of course, come with your own food. Also, always wear your best athletic sneakers here, you'll be working out with all the walking you'll do. The animals are nice to see, i just get upset with the price. Overall, a good family activity
